Regarding the monthly missions, in keeping with the accelerating plot as we head towards the end of the Malicant arc, missions are being suspended for the next two months. They'll resume after the Malicant arc, though their format will be slightly altered due to yet-to-come impacting metaplot factors. Any current missions can still be backtagged!

Thank you!

And yet another mod-post.

Al here, with a little something for those who participated on the Dreamscape mission and learned the ability to 'detect' energies that didn't quite belong. If any of them tries to detect anything like that on the turtle itself? They will find that kind of strange, invading energy literally everywhere. Like a dark fog there is not a single place in the turtle where they will not feel it. It's also not stronger or weaker in strategic points, like it's just following the character anywhere they go.

This is a active ability, though, so the character will only feel it as long as they actively seek to feel it. There will be no consequences if they force themselves to it, just a growing sense of discomfort.

This is also the place to tell me if your character abandoned training at one point, so I can tell you the specific consequences.

A bit of hopeful light arrives to break up the gloom of Malicant's ever-present threat from inside the Palace: once again, Tu Vishan has made his way to the mainland!

Weather & City Report
The days have been steadily getting warmer as they approach the height of summer and as Tu Vishan swims parallel to Konryu's equator and heading west. It's now not unusual for daytime temperatures to be above 30ºC/85ºF with higher spikes, though there has been a consistent and brisk wind from the north that helps keep it bearable. In fact the wind has been stronger than usual lately, causing some damages to property and even taking down a few of the weaker trees in the Wood Sector.

The Palace of the Landed Sky is quiet, with no further altercations between the remaining possessed kedan inside and the rest of the city; some speculate that they've possibly all died, but it's hard to say without getting anyone inside. For the moment it remains something of an elephant in the room amongst the kedan and Evandau, when he's infrequently glimpsed amid the strict security of the police station, looks as though he is bearing that entire elephant on his shoulders.

It's some of the fisherkedan that actually bring the news of land being sighted, rather than the typical announcement of it from the Emperor (and he looks just as surprised by it as anyone; someone didn't get the memo like Eshai normally had) but perhaps some time physically off Tu Vishan will give them all a bit better perspective.

In the jungle, the mighty jungle... )

Hello Chelonauts!

As a result of the metaplot progression as outlined in May 2014 State of the Shell, Keeliai is now at war! With Malicant occupying the Palace, missions have temporarily taken on a narrowed and grim focus, as the Foreigners and NPCs of Tu Vishan try to combat the Enemy living literally in their own house. Remember that we also have a new monthly schedule for mission time frames, meaning that the IC play of them now run from the 15th to the 15th of the following month.

This month we have THREE prefabricated missions with plenty of opportunity still for player missions. We also have a comment header where you can suggest the sorts of missions you'd like to see in the months that follow! Feel free to be as succinct or not as you please, as we take these suggestions into account when creating the next month's missions based on this feedback as well as a comment for mission-related questions. Please don't hesitate to for more information or clarifications... we're still fine tuning everything to make sure players are able to get the most ICly and OOCly out of these missions.

MOD MISSIONS
Each month, a player can volunteer a character for up to three mod missions. Like other limited space elements in the game, we ask that each player only submit one character from their roster for the mod missions, though their other characters can be submitted for player missions, so long as it's one mission per character per month. To sign up, fill out the information below and choose your top three missions in order of preference. If there are more signups than available spaces for a mission, we will RNG characters into the slots. If your character isn't RNG'd into the first mission, they'll be added to the pool for the second mission, and so on for the third.

Mod missions will be tallied and their participants notified on the 11 13 14th of the month @ ~9:00PM EST. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that everyone who signs up a character for a mission will be chosen for one of the mod missions, as it is based solely on the number of signups for each one. In the event that your character isn't chosen for any of your three choices, you can still sign them up for a player mission before 9:00PM PST on the 14 15th.

This month's planned missions are as follows:

EKLI'SES (ITEM RETRIEVAL)
THEY-LUN (INFORMATION)
AKRANON (EXPLORATION)

PLAYER MISSIONS
Player missions can involve either just your character or a pre-planned group, or even have open signup! Once your mission is approved by the mods, including any clarifications or extra information needed, you're set for playing it out. Remember that the mission can take place at any point throughout the month. For convenience purposes, we've also created the %missions tag in the log comm and we'd be very appreciative if it could be added to mission logs when they get posted.

MISSION CREDITS
Each mission your character undergoes (threaded out with at least ten comments from your character, across any number of threads in the log) is worth a credit, and each handwaved mission is worth half a credit. Please note: only missions that you yourself come up with can be handwaved. The 'mod missions' are ones where participation is considered mandatory, as you are filling a limited slot. If we notice a trend amongst any one player of signing up for missions and leaving their mission-mates hanging, we will be speaking with them to determine a suitable outcome.

Mission credits can be claimed on the following month's AC post, where they will be confirmed by the mods and added to a spreadsheet for tracking.

Good morning, Chelonauts! Lis here, trying on Michelle Yeoh's face for the first time. It's a good fit. I like it.

I just wanted to give everybody a quick heads up that we'll be posting the June Mission Sign-Ups tomorrow, Monday the 9th. We're putting the final polish on the write-ups and everything will be revealed.

I also wanted to let everybody know that we're trying something a little different this month. I will personally be shepherding one of the missions, writing an NPC who will be fully involved in the movement of the story. We are also, as a whole mod team, going to be more deeply involved with the running of said missions, getting plot points out as fast as possible.

Basically, I'll be acting as your Dungeon Master. I have my D-20 all set up and everything. I'll be calculating THAC0 and shooting magic missile at the gazebo. There is a depleted uranium Beholder statue in my room right now. Can't move, being crushed by 11 hit-die aberration! (If anybody gets that reference, I'll be shocked.)

EDIT: Sorry, I made that sound like I was doing all the NPCs and all the missions. Too much wise-ass, not enough mod. Al and Kate and Li and I will ALL be very much involved with all the missions this month, and writing NPCs, etc.

Hello Chelonauts!

As part of the changes from our State of the Shell: Missions post in February 2014, we're expanding the known realm of Konryu and have updated and fleshed out the Setting page to include 8 new continents which are going to be gradually opened for exploration and development.

This month we have THREE prefabricated missions (fewer than March because of the scope of April's metaplot) but with plenty of opportunity still for player missions. We also have a comment header where you can suggest the sorts of missions you'd like to see in the months that follow! Greetings, Tushanites!

March 1st happens to mark a new phase of gameplay here in the wonderful world of turtles and we need you to make it work! Below, there are five missions. Please read them over carefully and then fill out the textarea form at the bottom. There is an element of randomization here but players can also submit missions for pre-formed groups of their own choosing! Part of expanding the known realm of Konryu, we've updated and expanded our Setting page to include 8 new continents which are going to be gradually opened for exploration and development, which you'll start to see coming in to play in the missions below.

As detailed in our State of the Shell: Missions section, each mission your character undergoes (threaded out with at least ten comments from your character) is worth a credit, and each handwaved mission is worth half a credit.

March is a bit different than what will follow, as this is a new concept and we're trying to put a system in place that works for everyone, so for this month we have five prefabricated missions, so that players can get some understanding of what can be done in the world. If you'll note we also have a comment header where you can suggest the sorts of missions you'd like to see in the months that follow! Feel free to be as succinct or not as you please, as we'll be basing next month's missions on this feedback.

We also have a comment header for questions. Please don't hesitate to for more information or clarifications... we're new to this too!

This month's planned missions are as follows:

SIAXHI (INVESTIGATION)
VIAN THAX (RESCUE)
TEYRAN (EXPLORATION)
GHA'NAL (QUEST)
DUST (UNDERCOVER)
