Greeting chelonauts and visitors! This post will contain all your OOC needs for the fourth-wall event--feel free to use it for asking questions and plotting.

This season's theme for the 4th wall is "Make It Better", where the Great Turtle Tu Vishan -- or Asti, as he has mentioned his name to be -- feels that between the hurricane and the strange memory-sharing shenanigans that are happening, his denizens could use some emotional pick-me-ups.

The Dreaming and Life Planes are currently merged, but that doesn't stop the former from beginning to produce all sorts of strange occurrences. Characters may experience persistent feelings of deja vu, or that they are being watched. Items of some personal value -- everything from small trinkets to large belongings -- are prone to disappearing, only to resurface in someone else's possession. Even stranger are instances where certain objects suddenly appear, particularly if said things were topics of discussion or wishful thinking.

But appearing objects aren't the only strange happenings...

This is to let everyone know about about a small plot that will be starting soon.

Starting February 8 and ending on February 12, there will be something odd going on. Get in close proximity to another character or touch them, and your character might find themselves viewing a moment from their past.

Feel free to use this post for plotting or questions.

The Reasoning
Despite the fact that Valdis initially put Milyn’s crimes with the Cultists aside; mostly due to what she felt was a debt owed by the Foreigners to the woman for her help in the war against Malicant and her lack of solid evidence, the continued experiments by the Healer have proven to be dangerous as her lack of ethical conduct has begun to cause harm once again. Valdis’ knowledge of Milyn’s past crimes, paired with recent events, have led her to believe that Milyn needs to be stopped before something worse happens. After consulting with a few of her detectives, Valdis plans to have Milyn arrested. She hopes that the arrest will be peaceful and without incident.

The Charges
Medical Malpractice, unethical conduct, endangerment of her fellows.

Questions
I plan on doing a network post that announces to the whole Turtle that Milyn has been arrested. I would like to know if you all would like Valdis to announce to the Foreigners alone that she plans to arrest Milyn before the arrest. I would prefer to keep the actual arrest log to just KPD members so it stays small, but still want others to be able to offer input, agreement, disagreement, outrage ect on the arrest via a pre-arrest network post if desired. If you wish for a more dramatic reveal, then I will only have Valdis do the after arrest announcement.

The arrest will take place on the 11th of December, with the Announcement going up the same day.

Plotting
If anyone has anything to add to the Reasoning or Charges sections, please post below. In addition this post is for people to discuss reactions and plot things. Questions can also be put here and I will do my best to answer them.

OOC NOTE:
Due to Holidays this plot is being postponed until January.

LANDFALL - IOA ELANAG

The first thing that people will notice during the second week of the month is the sensation of slowing, as if Tu Vishan's movements have become beleaguered. It's strange to think that one can feel the movements of continent-sized turtle, but it's more the absence of motion that is detectable.

And then, for the next several nights, during their dreams (or whatever their respective restful periods entail) Foreigners will see the image of a young man in his late teens. It's the same person as the young boy that has appeared to many of them before, albeit a little more grown now. His appearance is slightly different for everyone, but he'll appear fairly handsome based on whatever the observer's individual standards are. This is Tu Vishan, the way he appears to the Foreigners in a comprehensible form, and he'll introduce himself as Asti if this is the first vision from him a Foreigner is receiving.

"I'm sorry if I've worried you," he'll say, appearing genuinely contrite. "I'm not feeling back to my normal self yet. I'm going to stop for a rest soon. It's nothing to be concerned about."

Beyond this explanation, he doesn't offer much in the way of conversation regardless of what he is asked, beyond a repeated reassurance that nothing is wrong, he's simply tired and stopping for a rest.

The slowing sensation will continue, until there's less swimming and more drifting happening -- controlled, at least, not the motionless way it was when Tu Vishan was absent of himself. Around the middle of the month, a landmass is sighted ahead, and on the morning of October 20th, the turtle's great bulk comes to a gentle rest against the shoreline on a wide, flat and stony beach.

Welcome to Ioa Elanag.

OOC Notes: So here's the official kickoff post for the Ioa Elanag landfall! This is a continent that has never been explored in-game, so it'll be a brand new adventure for everyone.

A landfall log with descriptions of everything will be going up on Thursday, Oct 20th, but the above mentioned happenings can begin now anytime. The mods will not be NPC'ing Asti for these dream visits, but you can write him out according to the guidelines above.

If you have any questions, let us know on this post. Otherwise, countdown to landfall begins~!

Hey, Keelial... So, things have been getting a bit quiet recently, so...

Who wants a riot?

Yes, that's right. This Saturday, there's going to be a riot in the Courtyard of Public Opinion, spilling out into surrounding areas. People on-scene will notice several loud noises, followed by a cloud of dust spreading to cover the whole courtyard.

In the confusion, anyone who has inhaled the weird black dust will start feeling very strange... Their tempers will rise, people will start arguments at the drop of a hat, then start physically shoving, punching, kicking, which will, ultimately, evolve into a full-blown riot after about an hour. The longer they stay in the cloud, which will dissipate after 15-20 minutes, the more violent and agressive they'll be.

This affect will also affect Foreigners in the Courtyard at the time.

If anyone's thinking "Leon, this sounds familiar..." You'll be right! The black powder is actually the drug Dust weaponised into bomb form. This means the Foreigners and Kedan affected will essentially have no real control over their actions, as their negative emotions are directly affected by the Dust.

Ideally, I'm looking for members of the Police Force to get stuck in, try to calm people down and get the injured off to the Healer's Guild. Also, anyone who knows any kind of first aid, magical or mundane, would probably be a big help to the Guild during this.

Shay Cormac is going to be one of the first on-scene and call it in for the cops. He's going to recommend people come with gas masks or similar, or avoid the Dust clouds.

Please feel free to use this post to plot and ask questions. Alternatively, feel free to PM this, or any, of my character journals.

Just a reminder that the Mis-Spell Redux event kicks off soon, so if you'd like to use an additional/alternate journal (alternate, aged-up/down, creaturefied, etc) for tagging around, please send comm membership requests from that journal OR leave a comment with the journal name on this post, and I'll send it an invite.

Also!

Today is the last day to have your character weigh in on the Seeking Asylum plot from this month's itinerary, where ~300 Kin'nal are requesting to be allowed to leave Hatal and stay in Keeliai.

This plot has a player-driven outcome, meaning that your contributions will decide this plot's direction going forward (and both options will have an assortment of consequences, both positive and negative!) so please consider dropping your character's thoughts on the matter by the IC discussion comment by the end of today.

Hey, everybody! So, because I can never go too long without causing a little bit of trouble, I have a little upcoming player plot orchestrated to shake things up in Keelai:

MIS-SPELL: REDUX
July 22 - 31

Late in the evening of July 21, Zatanna will be expecting a special shipment of potion bottles. However, unbeknownst to her, a little mixup occurs. Her bottles--four in all--will end up each getting distributed to specialty shops in four different sectors. The morning of the 22nd, these bottles will be among special tea and drink shop inventories, mistaken for herbal flavorings, and any customer drinking at these shops will find themselves suffering from some rather shocking magical side-effects.

(1) FIRE SECTOR: Alignment Switch. Can be elemental in nature, but primarily we're talking a "good vs evil" type of switch.

(2) EARTH SECTOR: Negation of the Translation Matrix. an aura around the character means that they will suddenly understand ONLY the languages they already speak; characters who speak to them, either in person or over the network, will ONLY Hear the language being spoken by that character.

(3) WATER SECTOR: Transformation characters can either be transformed to younger/older versions of themselves, OR can be transformed into any version of any animal (real or mythological).

(4) WOOD SECTOR: Personality Fracturing. characters will be split into two or more "versions" of themselves. Can either be split into a "good" self/"bad" self, or even be split into multiple personalities based on individualized emotions. The more tea the character drinks, the more times they will be split. This one, in particular, has the added bonus of not being able to be fixed until all versions are back in the same place.

The duration of each effect will IC be explained by how much of the drink each character is exposed to, and OOCly can go on for as long as the player desires.  In addition, effects can take anywhere from five minutes to half an hour to occur, leaving an element of mystery for at least the first few days as to what exactly is causing all of this.

After about three days' time, Zatanna will realize the bottle switch (though she won't know WHY it occured) and alert everyone.  Until then, characters are welcome to compare notes and speculate among themselves.  Or play detective.  Because there absolutely will be THOSE CHARACTERS that will spend their time trying to play detective.

By August, all effects will wear off by themselves.  There is no instant "cure", as the unstable nature of the potions means the magic needs to run its course.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask them below.  Otherwise, you can use this post to start a-plottin'  (even though I know some of you have already started on plurk)

LANDFALL - TAVIMBI

Greetings, chelonauts! This month we're going to have the first unexplored continental landfall for the new plot. This event takes place on the continent of Tavimbi, home to several different races - all with technological bents, to various degrees.

PLEASE NOTE that there will not be an accompanying mod-posted catch-all log for Tavimbi's landfall, because Tu Vishan will be anchored here for the indeterminate future. Feel free to make your own posts using the information detailed here!

The Year End Celebrations log is posted, and it includes a surprise: the Feather Gifter is back, and all characters will be getting a canon possession from home.

Please comment to the Gift Items comment with the item (name and a brief description) that you wish your character to find during the Year End event. These should be of a size able to fit in an average gift box. Like canon possessions via reward requests, this will be limited to either one large, or two small items per character; see details on that post for which constitutes which, and please ask if you have any questions.

Note these items don't require AC points to claim, these are freebies for everyone :)

The turtle move will go smoothly for the first five days, bolstered by a brisk set of winds and a favourable tide, and everyone's combined efforts will allow Tu Vishan to be moved approximately north-north east by several hundred leagues, no small feat given his continental size. Everything seems to be going smoothly!

On the fifth day however... )

OOC NOTE:

The turtle move is being divided into two parts, the first taking place in late November with the above mentioned effects to be ongoing throughout the month of December, and the remaining move distance to be completely in early January, which will lead into the landfall event proper.

The reasoning for the break between the two pieces is otherwise, we would have a full scale landfall event during the winter holidays, when people have RL commitments and school and a hundred other offline things, and nobody wants that. The above noted plot things can be loosely played out at people's leisure over December, without there being a thing that needs a lot of IC commitment to keep up with.

This post is a good place for plotting what your characters will be getting up to during the event!

Dear Chelonauts,

It is finally happening, the long talked about Masquerade Ball. The ball will take place from the 30-31 of October and will have several sections for you all to post in, including: The entrance (Where we can all post pictures of our masks and dresses/suits), The dance court, and the refreshment table. If you have any other suggestions for location, please post below, we welcome questions as well. Everyone is invited to dance and be merry, it's time for a break from the tension and for our characters to have some fun on this turtle.

Sincerely,
Kalineh

Hello, Chelonauts, and welcome to Keeliai’s fortnight of mayhem and mystery! To account for the delay, the event will ICly run from 15th to 29th of August, with the final party/awards log posted on the 31th.

The list of characters who signed up, which teams they’re in and which crimes they’ll be assigned, are as follows.

Crime #1: Abduction
China Sorrows
Midii Une
Zelgadis
Hiro Hamada

Crime #2: Theft
Jack Frost
Raine Sage
Pepper Potts
Klaus Reinherz

Crime #3: Murder
Aya
Gene Khan
Valdis
Arno Dorian

As the games are sponsored by the Merchant’s Guild, IC sign-ups sheets will have been available at specific storefronts all across Keeliai. Feel free to assume your character applied at one such branch. Keep in mind, however, that these games are Keeliai wide. Not only Foreigners are playing -- there are as many as a dozen ‘crimes’ occurring at any given time, and kedanese teams will be pursuing your crimes as well!

In the body of the post just below is an IC overview of each crime, but the clues and ‘scripts’ will be in threads in this post. Be sure to track your team’s thread, since OOC crime updates will be posted on the 19th and 25th. These threads will also be where team plotting can occur!

A log for all IC murder-related threading will be posted on the 15th.

An important update regarding the state of the Zeshora Landfall!

In response to lorell'an being illegally obtained by one of the Foreigners, Erol'an perception toward the Foreigners and kedan both has cooled considerably -- they feel as though their hospitality has been flagrantly disrespected, since they were very upfront about the status of the lorell'an and it's Erol'a-only possession rules. There will be an increase in age-checks throughout all Zeshoran areas, and the playful requests that Erol'a Crests may have been asking of the Foreigners may now sometimes take a mean-spirited turn. Some shops may charge higher prices or refuse to serve the visitors, similar to how the kedan were months ago.

Those who have been seen in Akito's company may find themselves of particular interest to the authorities and may have their pockets, etc searched, as the Erol'a try to determine if any other lorell'an was stolen, but these instances are entirely at each player's discretion.

A few days after Tu Vishan has been docked in Zeshoran waters, packages will be sent to every Foreigner's place of residence. It will contain a variety of memhari, the Zeshoran currency, in a mixture of blue and green rounds for easy spending, and total the approximate equivalent of $100 per person. It will only be signed with the insignia of the Merchant's Guild, but the handwritten note--

Get out there and enjoy yourself!

--which is addressed to each Foreigner by name, are all done in the same person's cursive, indicating that the same person put them all together individually.

Greetings chelonauts and visitors! This is the OOC post for the second week of the fourth-wall event. General fourth-wall information can still be found on last week's information post, and sign-ins are still available here, but otherwise please refer to this post for any further questions or events.

Do feel free to continue tagging the first week's log and of course the Midnight Hotel log for all your non-festival needs, as well as any open logs or network posts dated during the 4th wall. (Most of them have the %4th wall tag added to them, those are all fair game!)

MYSTERIOUS INTERLOPERS - THE DREAMING DISCONNECTS | APRIL 22-30

Despite the reaction from the Foreigners, Tu Yunxu's post has left a mark on the kedan population. At first it only serves to bolster spirits -- finally some of the remaining invaders are being dealt with, finally the Snakes are fulfilling their promises!

But on the final days of the festival more and more kedan notice that there are shapes in the fields -- like crop-circles, but in the shape of Chihuelan insignias. The festival ends naturally, but parties of Woodsmen can also be seen investigating the outer edges of their lands, and everyone -- Foreigner and kedan alike -- are encouraged to return to the city and stay there. They will find leaving the city to be difficult for the next week, with Snakes on the inside of the gates and Woodsmen on the out.

For the next week matters are somewhat tense, with rumours abounding regarding the insignias in the fields and what they mean, and fear that the Chihuelan raiders may already be in the city. They look so much like most of the Foreigners, and they don't carry soul-gems. The primary defense the kedan have is in their shapeshifting; if the Chihuelans take that, the kedan fear, they'll have an even more superior edge.

For the next week anyone who looks human, but can't shapeshift and doesn't have a soul-gem is going to be the target of high suspicion. On occasion, even those who can shapeshift will have trouble -- a few brawls will break out among the kedan themselves, due to the suspicion, and it's not impossible that some Foreigners, both new and old, might be caught up in the action accidentally.

Aside from the above, there will be few instances of outright violence, thanks to the Snakes patrolling the city, but many of the fourth-wall visitors will find their patronage refused outright, or be harassed walking in the street. The Midnight Hotel and the construction of the Foreigners' quarters on the old palace land are the exceptions; the first is well known as a haven for everyone and the second is seen as an opportunity to keep Foreigners out of the way. Despite that, both places will be watched, though no kedan will make trouble in either.

Ironically, this means the Foreigners who live in the city long-term are more trusted. If the Chihuelans are after soul-gems to try and ingratiate themselves into the city, it obviously hasn't worked; all the soul-gems have been recovered, and therefore the recognizable Foreigners become the authority on who is really a Foreigner, temporary or not. Fourth-wall characters who have cast-mates or can otherwise use a permanent Foreigner as a character witness will have an easier time of things.

For the most part the attitude is one of staunch and unbending patriotism, and, continuing on the festival theme, renewal after a terrible era. The kedan feel that the two apprehended Chihuelans deserve what they got. There will be a constant crowd outside Yunxu's mansion, demanding justice and punishment for the Chihuelans he arrested. Every night there will be kedan going to Water Sector to put lit candles in the canals to represent those fallen during the invasion. It isn't an atmosphere of mourning; if anything, its one of fierce pride and hope in the future, and a sense that they will not be stopped.

By the end of the week the kedans' desire to be left alone by 'invaders' will have closed the rift that caused the new Foreigners to arrive in the first place, sending them all back home.

As of the morning of Feb 12th, there is a shift in the winds and currents, and Tu Vishan's great form begins to be tugged back out to sea. The Khatronmanians are quick to alert any Foreigners still on the continent, recognizing the mood of the ocean, and their predictions are correct. By midday, the current has pulled Tu Vishan away from the shoreline and sent it drifting eastward, though the coast of Evidet remains visible for almost a day longer as it fades in the distance.

The emissaries remain in Keeliai, though they do make a point of watching Evidet recede into the distance, as if taking a moment to make their peace with the uncertainty of when they may see their homeland again.
