Fourth wall info-post - Week 1
Greeting chelonauts and visitors! This post will contain all your OOC needs for the fourth-wall event--feel free to use it for asking questions and plotting.
SPRING PLANTING FESTIVAL - THE NEWCOMERS’ ARRIVAL | APRIL 15-22
TO BE ANNOUNCED | APRIL 23-30
PREPARING VISITATION RIGHTS - OOC INFORMATION FOR FOURTH-WALL CHARACTERS
SPRING PLANTING FESTIVAL - THE NEWCOMERS’ ARRIVAL | APRIL 15-22
After two months of terrible weather the Woodsmen are taking the opportunity to revitalize their field-based crops, and this time they're leaving nothing to chance -- by requesting help from Keeliai's citizens. The bulk of the seeding will be done by the Woodsmen themselves, but this time around the Woodsmen are determined to imbue as much luck as possible into their future crops.
For the whole of this week the Woodsmen are running a miniature festival called the Ni Zhihuan outside the city's walls, the first time their fields have been publicly open to city residents, and the rest of the kedan take to it with gusto. The theme is spring and boundless youthful energy, and using it to create good luck.
The concentration on luck and renewing the future is what will influence the close connection between Life and the Dreaming. Full descriptions will be had in the IC log, to be posted in a couple of days, but you can also refer to the itinerary until then.

A plot development will take place during the second week of the event! An additional OOC post, plus a relevant IC log, will be made at that time. Stay tuned!
PREPARING VISITATION RIGHTS - OOC INFORMATION FOR FOURTH-WALL CHARACTERS
Just a quick reminder that anyone is welcome to the fourth wall event whether they play or have ever played in Tu Shanshu or not, and that both canon characters and OCs are perfectly acceptable!
Newcomers will primarily arrive outside the city, where the greatest concentration of willpower is located, but it’s possible for some to arrive inside the city as well. While the planting festival is the cause of the fourth-wallers’ arrival, this doesn't mean such characters are limited only to the outside of the city; they will be able to move freely through the entirety of the setting while they’re there. Likewise, it's not required to participate in the festival itself -- some characters might be too busy trying to figure out what's going on, or dealing with some familiar faces! It can simply be the backdrop for the city if that's preferred.
The newcomers are Foreigners and will be ICly classified as such, but there are a couple of important differences between them and the Foreigners who live in the city long-term, namely:
• Fourth-wall characters will not have soul-jewellery. Information on the soul-gems can be found on the gameplay page, but in a nutshell: Foreigners usually get a piece of magical jewellery with an inset gem upon arrival. This gem is required to keep Foreigners’ souls anchored to Keeliai's world. The 4th wall characters will not experience the symptoms that a regular Foreigner would, if they were separated from their soul gem.
• Fourth-wall characters will be able to reply to network posts, but not create their own. This will be explained as a Dreaming glitch -- the consoles will register their names, but not let them make their own broadcasts, similar to how a real-life forum distinguishes between someone being logged-in and someone being logged-out while still labeling their replies with a nickname. Fourth-wall characters can also reply to character's IC inboxes using this same reasoning.
Similarly, due to the way the community’s posting/membership allowances work, fourth-wall characters will not be able to make their own logs but are encouraged to make use of the mod-posted or catch-all posts made by members of the game. (Catch-all posts are essentially those made to cover a great length of time or a particular setting -- for instance, the PCs’ main housing area, the Midnight Hotel, will have a post covering the two weeks of the fourth-wall event specifically for fourth-wall characters.)
Do remember that this is a "live" 4th wall, meaning that what happens during the event will be completely remembered after the event ends, and any setting impact/changes/decisions that occur because of the 4th wall characters will be upheld.
Don’t forget the Setting post is available here as well, for your setting-related needs as the event progresses. Please note that while powers are not nerfed in the Tu Shanshu setting, we do limit world-or-game breaking powers as a matter of course. We welcome everyone to try out the game’s setting, but characters who are brought in solely to disrupt or "break" the game will be asked to leave.
The list of fourth-wall guests can be found here. Feel free to request character access even after the beginning of the event! Additional characters can request posting access up until April 30th, the last day of the event and the day when the fourth-wall characters will ICly disappear from the city. After that point, posting access will be maintained for any guest characters up until May 10th, to allow any threads still being played out to finish up. However, we do request that no 4th wall characters tag any posts dated May 1st and onward, as ICly, their characters would have left the city by that point.
If you have any questions regarding these rules for the 4th wall, please don't hesitate to ask us!
