FOREIGNERS GUILD PLANNING
Apr. 4th, 2017 09:40![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
With the shift of governmental organization in Keeliai, and the designation of the Guilds, the Foreigners have been tasked with setting up an internal structure for their guild.
They have been informed that they have complete freedom to organize this Guild as they see fit, whether that means they have a group leadership (several people in charge), a hierarchy based leadership (one or two people in charge, then their subordinates, then the next level of subordinates, etc) or to entirely do away with a formal leadership setup at all and have all guild members carry the same authority level. Or any combination or alternative of those options!
The Council's decree has assured the Foreigners complete autonomy in governing themselves within the framework of their Guild, with these ( core stipulations... )
The first Courtyard meeting will take place in May, in order to establish the list of High Crimes (things like murder, etc) which require sentencing by agreement of all the Guilds; the other guilds will expect the Foreigners Guild's leadership and representative structure to be in place by that time, which can then be made official.
---
Player Discussion
This post is for the OOC plotting of the Foreigners Guild getting set up. This is an entirely player-controlled process -- the mods are NOT involved in the end result of how this plays out. So it's important that everyone has a chance to participate in the process, as the decisions of the Guild's setup will be used to develop plots and events in the future!
Here are some some things for your consideration, although this is not an exhaustive list, simply suggestions:
- Is there going to be a defined leadership within the Foreigners Guild, and if so, who are they?
- What are their levels of authority, within the Guild's structure and in relation to the rest of the city and other guilds?
- Are these the same individuals for the spokespeople for Courtyard participation?
- How will the Guild handle treatment of Foreigners that are part of their guild?
- How will the Guild handle the treatment of those who perpetrate crimes against Foreigners?
And other input that may arise through this discussion post!
NOTE: This post is for the OOC/players side of this process! You don't need to justify your character's thoughts for your suggestions, as an IC log will be made once this discussion has been established, where characters themselves can also go through their version. (As we well know, player and character opinions don't always line up!)
Please direct any clarification inquiries to the Questions comment below.

Hello chelonauts! Today we're officially announcing some changes to the game regarding eligible characters.
Per our player survey, the results were overwhelmingly in favour of allowing both CRAU (game import) characters, and Canon OCs (fanon characters) to be allowed to app to Tu Shanshu. Based on the feedback that was provided by everyone who weighed in, we identified where people had concerns about both of these options, and we have put together what we feel is the most reasonable and thorough way to address these potential issues.
Below the cut, we'll go over the guidelines we've set for both of these types of characters, and we invite anyone who has further questions to let us know on this post, and we'll address them as promptly as possible. Additional examples have been added to the APPLICATION FAQ.
( Canon OCs/Fanon Characters )
( CRAU/Game Import )
Our application template now has some adjustments! We have added a simple "Character Type" line, for specifying canon character/original character/canon OC/CRAU, and at the bottom of the application, there are now separate addendum for both new types to fill out, to cover the above noted requirements. As with regular applications, the mods will continue to hold each app, regardless of character type, to an equal standard of believably across the board.
These changes go into effect immediately, although we may continue tweaking the wording of the examples as needed. Please let us know if you have any questions or need further information!

Hi again, chelonauts!
Based on feedback we received on the latest State of the Shell, we are considering accepting new types of characters, namely CRAU or game imports, and canon OCs (OCs based on an existing canon) as eligible characters to apply.
While we feel that there is precedent for it to happen ICly due to the changes with the Dreaming, because this is a potentially significant change, we want to first get the thoughts of our current playerbase before making any changes. Therefore, we're inviting all players to respond to this post using the form below, so that we can make an informed decision.
EDITED TO ADD: We also welcome non-members (or former members, or potential members, etc) to share their thoughts!
The exact guidelines for both types of characters would still need to be finalized if the voting results are in favour of either/both, so we highly encourage you to share your thoughts on both options as well as your vote.
All comments are screened! This vote will remain open until 11:59 EST, Monday January 18th.
SURVEY NOW CLOSED, thank you to everyone who participated!

Hey guys!
I just wanted to ask everyone to please tag their posts and logs with your character's tags. I know we all miss them occasionally but it's really become a frequent thing in the last few months, and it's getting harder for me to catch them all. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular, it's simply become widespread enough that I wanted to bring it up. We (the mods) use tags to assist us with checking AC, so taking a few extra seconds when you tag into a post really helps us out.
If for any reason your character tags are NOT showing up in the available tag list, please let me know and I'll get it fixed ASAP.
Thanks again,
- Li
ETA: I am working on reshuffling the tag list, so that dropped characters' tags appear at the bottom of the tag list by adding a † symbol to the front of the tag. I know we've got a lot of usage tags (almost 900, in fact) in the two IC comms, so I'm hoping this will help current players not have to scroll through all of them to find their tags, you'll only need to check the small top section to find the one you need.
But if anyone has more suggestions about ways to improve the tag system, please let us know! (Preemptively, we are not looking to discontinue the post: character/thread: character format though.)
EDIT: Also a reminder that, as per the Economy section in the last itinerary, prices for the Foreigners have been steadying to match kedan prices. This is primarily with regard to produce, yes, but it's extending to non-produce prices too. Just been seeing a few tags around lately which seem to assume that all kedan are still trying to stiff the Foreigners out of money, so just keep in mind that the economy has actually been shifting in the Foreigners' favour lately.
Cheers,
- Pur

State of the Shell | RE: Endgame | JULY 2014
Admin Post: Jul. 7th, 2014 21:28![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello Chelonauts, we've got some very big news to announce! We'd like to thank everyone who participated in our endgame discussion post. The mods have taken the feedback there and put together something which we hope will work for as many of our players as possible and take the game into new territory.
Before I get into the announcement, I wanted to say that we really appreciate the patience of those who've stuck with us as we've been finding our footing with running TuShanshu -- it means a lot for us! ♥
( So without further ado... )

More Changes! (AC/Endgame)
May. 26th, 2014 08:39![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
(I am so sorry to keep filling up the OOC comm with these posts, we're trying to roll the changes out as they're coming up.)
ONE. Effective immediately, we are removing the double activity requirement for applying for a 4th character and changing it to "having passed the last two consecutive ACs with your full roster". This does not include passes gotten by hiatus or by new character exemption. The strike policy (one per character every six months) has not changed. If this goes well, we may consider expanding to larger rosters in the future.
EDITED TO ADD: If you are on hiatus but have passed the previous two ACs before the hiatus, you can still apply for a 4th character. For example, if you passed January and February's AC normally and were on hiatus for the month of March, you could still apply for a 4th character in April.
TWO. Later in June, the modteam will be reviewing the proposed endgame that was put into effect last year, to see whether it still fits with the plan of the game -- specifically, we will be looking at removing it if that seems feasible. As such, we'd like to invite all our players to express their opinions on that potential change in this post.
Thank you!

Suite Change Poll | RESULTS
May. 23rd, 2014 23:40![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Good evening! I am happy to bring you the results of our Suite Poll which concluded earlier tonight.
Option One "Single" = 60 points
Option Two "Pair" = 42 points
Option Three "Quad" = 72 points
So our characters will be moving into new buildings with housing for four people, with separate personal spaces and shared common areas. These changes will not go into effect ICly until June 1st and run through June 5th, to coincide with the Guiding Light event, and characters will not know this change is coming until an announcement from Evandau is made. This information has already been updated on the Locations page but an excerpt:
These signups will be open until May 31st, so the event can go live on June 1st. You can use this post as a plotting space too, for figuring out new living situations.

This information has already been updated on the Locations page but an excerpt:
Each building is two floors and shaped in approximately a rectangle with the center of these buildings being an open, private courtyard with grass and stone that goes all the way up, while the roof is flat with a wide ledge suitable for additional outdoor gathering space. The upper level being divided into four sub-units that contain a bedroom with a closet, a small nook with a personal console, and a bathroom. These sub units do not have connecting doors or windows to each other. A private staircase for each sub-unit goes both upward for rooftop access and down to the main level. The lower level contains a shared kitchen, living area with access to the central courtyard, a room that is an office/library, a shared bathroom, and an unfinished room that can be developed into anything the residents want.To get everyone switched over, I need re-signups for housing! For this one realign, players are allowed to change the Sector for their character(s) only if they wish to. They are also perfectly welcome to have the character remain in their existing Sector if that's the player's preference. It's important that everyone fill out this form for EACH of their characters so I can place everyone accordingly! If you don't add your character's information, they will be put where we have space available.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The images below are only examples for what the quad buildings will look like in relation to proportion. None of the buildings are the perfect boxes as illustrated, they all feature the same rooms in perhaps different configurations and all follow the design theme of whatever sector they belong to. So Wood Sector is still trees sitting roughly in a rectangular grouping, Water Sector is all curvy to follow the canals, etc. Only the amount of rooms, with the shared areas on the main floor and the personal units on the upper floor, remains the constant.
FIRST FLOOR | SECOND FLOOR
These signups will be open until May 31st, so the event can go live on June 1st. You can use this post as a plotting space too, for figuring out new living situations.
Suite Change Poll | VOTING
May. 18th, 2014 19:51![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I was going to do an actual poll and then it turns out you need a paid account, whoops. So we're doing the next based route instead!
We have three options for shuffling around the housing situation, with the goal of increasing CR opportunities for players, based on the discission and the ideas put forther in this post. I've included a brief description of each below the cut.
ONE. Reshuffle all characters into full housing blocks.
• Characters would still have separate suites (no shared living spaces) within the same block of four per building, there would just be fewer buildings, essentially condensing the housing blocks.
TWO. Randomly assign characters to shared suites, no choosing.
• Characters would be given new addresses and be assigned a randomly partnered roommate, so TWO per suite. There would be shared common areas (living room, kitchen, office, etc) but separate living spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, consoles).
THREE. Quad housing, partly character chosen.
• Characters would move into larger units and would share with FOUR total people. There would be shared common areas (living room, kitchen, office, etc) but separate living spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, consoles, etc). Characters would be allowed to partner with ONE character of their choice, while the other two (or other pair) may do the same. **As a mod note, if this option is chosen, there won't be any "cast blocks" (ie; all four people from the same canon).
Please vote for your choices in order of preference in THIS COMMENT. If you need clarification on any of the options, please ask under the Questions header. Remember that this is strictly OOC voting preference, so what you as a player want to see implemented in the game; your character(s) may not agree!
Each choice will be assigned a score (1st choice = 3 points, 2nd choice = 2 points, 3rd choice = 1 point) and the choice with the most points will be announced on Friday, May 23rd with the changes going into effect as of June 1st, 2014.

A Suite Proposal
May. 4th, 2014 16:56![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Hello Chelonauts! As part of our game changes, one thing that I'm looking at is a suite realignment: that is, condensing the Foreigners who are spread out across the housing blocks into smaller groupings to help encourage new CR to be built.
There's a couple of options that I'm testing the waters with and they are: keeping everyone in separate suites but filling the housing blocks (so basically the same setup as now, just with more neighbours) or condensing everyone into roommate/flatmate housing, and with OOC versus IC logistics for both options. Either way there will be IC justification (Evandau orders them, etc) for the change, so this post is for discussion and ideas of what players would like to see.
The primary goal for this change up is to open new CR for characters (which translates to more plotting, more character development, and easier ways to make AC!) so while you're welcome to use your characters as examples for or against various options, this is mostly focused on what you as players feel would benefit you the most.
Based on the outcomes of this discussion, there will be a poll put up later for people to actually make their votes on the matter. This is just for people toss out their ideas and the poll choices will be built from these.
