Suite Change Poll | RESULTS

Good evening! I am happy to bring you the results of our Suite Poll which concluded earlier tonight.

Option One "Single" = 60 points
Option Two "Pair" = 42 points
Option Three "Quad" = 72 points

So our characters will be moving into new buildings with housing for four people, with separate personal spaces and shared common areas. These changes will not go into effect ICly until June 1st and run through June 5th, to coincide with the Guiding Light event, and characters will not know this change is coming until an announcement from Evandau is made. This information has already been updated on the Locations page but an excerpt:

Each building is two floors and shaped in approximately a rectangle with the center of these buildings being an open, private courtyard with grass and stone that goes all the way up, while the roof is flat with a wide ledge suitable for additional outdoor gathering space. The upper level being divided into four sub-units that contain a bedroom with a closet, a small nook with a personal console, and a bathroom. These sub units do not have connecting doors or windows to each other. A private staircase for each sub-unit goes both upward for rooftop access and down to the main level. The lower level contains a shared kitchen, living area with access to the central courtyard, a room that is an office/library, a shared bathroom, and an unfinished room that can be developed into anything the residents want.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The images below are only examples for what the quad buildings will look like in relation to proportion. None of the buildings are the perfect boxes as illustrated, they all feature the same rooms in perhaps different configurations and all follow the design theme of whatever sector they belong to. So Wood Sector is still trees sitting roughly in a rectangular grouping, Water Sector is all curvy to follow the canals, etc. Only the amount of rooms, with the shared areas on the main floor and the personal units on the upper floor, remains the constant.

To get everyone switched over, I need re-signups for housing! For this one realign, players are allowed to change the Sector for their character(s) only if they wish to. They are also perfectly welcome to have the character remain in their existing Sector if that's the player's preference. It's important that everyone fill out this form for EACH of their characters so I can place everyone accordingly! If you don't add your character's information, they will be put where we have space available.

These signups will be open until May 31st, so the event can go live on June 1st. You can use this post as a plotting space too, for figuring out new living situations.

Hey, mods, have a question. So if two characters living in adjacent sub-units decided, for totally unknown reasons obviously, to do a little interior redecorating and put a door in between their bedrooms to combine the spaces, what if any consequences would there be? Or will you guys just rule it's not going to happen?

For structural reasons and for the reasoning for the change ICly, we'd ask that chars not do construction on the units (aside from interior on the unfinished rooms).

This is...definitely a question I should've asked earlier, I'm super sorry, but how will this housing situation work for larger foreigners? Temeraire had his three-story apartment renovated to fit him early on, and presumably that won't be an option given the reasoning for the change. So will he just have to squeeze in and hope for the best? I'm totally cool with that being the case, I just wanted to check!

HA yeah I didn't even consider that, oops. Let's say he squeezes until after the event ends and life stops exploding for Evandau and he will send some people by to help retrofit Temeraire's suite for better access for him.

So just to make sure I have this correct: ICly, Evandau will make the announcement and characters will ICly have the option of choosing a roommate, yes? So when we sign them up for someone, we're signing them up for who they would ICly choose?

Could we sign them up for a roommate they wouldn't ICly choose?

I asked this same question! The answer as I recall it is that they will first be given the choice ICly. If OOCly the player would like an alternative character, IC lack of choice can be handwaved to allow for OOC deciding. Does that make sense? Not sure if I said it well.

I'm also happy to elaborate on the process or what might prevent the IC choice if desired.
