Suite Change Poll | VOTING

I was going to do an actual poll and then it turns out you need a paid account, whoops. So we're doing the next based route instead!

We have three options for shuffling around the housing situation, with the goal of increasing CR opportunities for players, based on the discission and the ideas put forther in this post. I've included a brief description of each below the cut.

ONE. Reshuffle all characters into full housing blocks.
• Characters would still have separate suites (no shared living spaces) within the same block of four per building, there would just be fewer buildings, essentially condensing the housing blocks.

TWO. Randomly assign characters to shared suites, no choosing.
• Characters would be given new addresses and be assigned a randomly partnered roommate, so TWO per suite. There would be shared common areas (living room, kitchen, office, etc) but separate living spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, consoles).

THREE. Quad housing, partly character chosen.
• Characters would move into larger units and would share with FOUR total people. There would be shared common areas (living room, kitchen, office, etc) but separate living spaces (bedrooms, bathrooms, consoles, etc). Characters would be allowed to partner with ONE character of their choice, while the other two (or other pair) may do the same. **As a mod note, if this option is chosen, there won't be any "cast blocks" (ie; all four people from the same canon).

Please vote for your choices in order of preference in THIS COMMENT. If you need clarification on any of the options, please ask under the Questions header. Remember that this is strictly OOC voting preference, so what you as a player want to see implemented in the game; your character(s) may not agree!

Each choice will be assigned a score (1st choice = 3 points, 2nd choice = 2 points, 3rd choice = 1 point) and the choice with the most points will be announced on Friday, May 23rd with the changes going into effect as of June 1st, 2014.

In any or all of the scenarios, would there be anything to prevent characters from reshuffling themselves after the reassignment happens? i.e. in option 3, would there be anything stopping characters who would icly say "screw this" and move back in with each other?

No question, I'm just really very curious what the IC Imperative is going to be, and I thought I'd share that curiosity.

Thaaaaaat sounds promising. Can't wait!

I'm still not sure how that would necessarily prevent characters from shuffling themselves around, though?

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about. :|a

It's fine, this just might change my vote, since I'm not sure how we'd be able to keep the TLOUs IC and maintain the "no cast quad" rule in a scenario #3. So thank you for the response! This has given me more to chew on.

Follow-up question: for option #1, would it be okay in that case for characters to continue bunking together in whatever configuration they chose once (basically the same as they are now) once the new assignments were put into place?

Would this also apply to option 1? Like, can characters choose to bunk with others if they want to, seeing it's all separate living quarters? Or would they have to stick with their assigned housing regardless?

Or haha, what Tess mun just asked. :)

will the characters stay in the same sectors, with any or each of the shuffling around? (unless for example in choice three, the wanted suitemate doesn't hail from the same one.)

[personal profile] sophos 2014-05-19 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
would it be possible to be randomized with someone but remain in the same sector? with option two in particular, i suppose. choosing the sector to live in has always been a cool part of the game

[personal profile] denyamenti 2014-05-19 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
We could certainly try to keep them in the same sector but I can't guarantee it would work out that way, because while right now all the sectors are fairly similar in number of occupied suites, it may not always be. But based on the current housing, it shouldn't be a problem.

It didn't even occur to me that Sectors might change. I'd really prefer to either keep them in their respective Sectors or to allow it be oocly optional.

ditto, re: at least giving the ooc option to keep them in the same sectors

Re: QUESTIONS

For option three, is the one choice who the character shares a space with determined ICly or OOCly? IE Costigan would want to live with another rough and tumble type, but I, as a player, might find it fun to put him with someone magical. Which would it be?

A little question- I know you have discussed this with Lee but thought I'd check: wherever Lois (or Clark) ends up being relocated, could it be possible for the Kedan to help out relocate the radio there as well?

I'm asking so I know if they could simply move the central or have to remake it.

[personal profile] denyamenti 2014-05-19 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, there would be provision made, especially since the Emperor himself has endorsed it, for the radio to get moved accordingly with Lois/Clark in whatever configuration works best for it.
