> Mary-Lynette Carter from the Night World series. She's 17 or 18, human, from a version of Earth where vampires, witches, werewolves and other shapeshifters exist secretly. She's tough, level-headed, and loves astronomy. I haven't played her before but I'm so entirely nostalgic ;w;

[Bucky's dragged him out today to survey the turtle, get their bearings and figure out their surroundings. It's recon but he's casual about it, hands stuffed in the pockets of his Army brown trousers. Thankfully he didn't show up in just his costume, so that, his undershirt, and his boots have become typical attire. They're weaving through one of the marketplaces, and though Bucky acts like they're just out on a walk, his sharp eyes are taking in everything.] This whole place is weird, ain't it? Like somethin' out of a pulp novel.

That's goddamn highway robbery. You tryin' to gouge me, buddy?

He'd been running since the moment he felt his speed return to him fully. CRADYL wasn't responding and he had no idea where he was so it was time for some recon. Running was also an excuse to try and burn out more of the angry energy that was running through him. The cart ride had helped to dull some of it but he still felt like moving. At least until he reached the turtle's head. The unusual calming, peaceful feeling washing over him finally prompted Thad to slow down and find a place to sit. Pulling his cowl back, he just lets his thoughts wander. Of course, he may have had time to cut his hair to his preferred length but the brown dye is still there making him look like Bart. It would be easy to mistake him for his 'twin' if someone didn't see the costume first.

You don't think that perhaps I would have stepped back a little faster if I was meaning to run off with it? If you will insist on showing your wares in the shade, obviously I'm going have to look at it in the sunlight.

[At this point he's actually put the object back in its place, but he's still getting yelled at. His expression is somewhere between pained and irritated] You know what, I have a dragon with a fondness for shoes, if you're interested in continuing this conversation.

[Talin had been observing the proceedings with a hint of amusement. Observing, nothing more, and silently at that. Far be it from him to interrupt the personal affairs of another. He knows better by this point in his considerable life, though that doesn't mean he can't derive some twisted pleasure from it.

There comes a point, however, when Talin really must insert himself into the argument. He's a forced to be reckoned with when something's piqued his interest, and just now, he's single-minded in his pursuit.]

A dragon, you say? [Talin appears at Garret's side; a slighter and smaller man than he, with eyes dark enough to match the jet-black braid of hair hanging over his shoulder. Voids though they are, that gaze seems to sparkle with a hunger, and he hooks an arm in Garret's to steer him rather directly away from the vendor's booth.]

[ The Water sector was easy to get lost in if you found you way far enough into the frenetic, crowded shopping district; where you couldn't tell one tarp covered stall apart from the other, and the winding sea glass walkways becoming a disorienting maze. It was especially challenging for Amon who rarely ventured out, let alone this far from the familiar.

His attention was drawn away from the crowds to keep himself focused on whatever task drove him out here; he didn't even bother using his bloodbending to sense other around him. Quietly he waded through the crowds with an eerie unobtrusiveness that was almost ghost-like until he came upon something that caught his eye at one otherwise unimpressive vendor's table. A bell it looked like, and of an interesting make that reminded him of the bells strung up in shrines.

Only the moment he reached for it did he find a slender, pale hand go for it first; accidentally knocking into whomever had their eyes similarly fixed on it. In his deep, cold monotone he feigned an apology to belie his irritation. ]

[Even if she's not an assassin anymore - technically, at least, as her ruined guild tattoo suggests - Shelby still likes to keep her skills intact.

Besides, there's nothing wrong with stalking prey. Or in this case, one particular kedan that she follows at a safe distance through the marketplace. Being in public like this has always been a thrill. How easy would it be to take her prey around a corner, kill him, and be away before anyone even noticed what had happened.

Not that she's going to take this game too far. When she tires of it, she'll let the kedan live. Tomorrow will be someone new. Maybe one of the other "Strangers". They were an interesting bunch.

Her fingers twitch against the handle of the dagger at her hip.]

[ Isaac's head is down as he's walking, lost in thought. Lost in trying to sort out his thoughts. He's not sure if it's the new setting that has everything mashed together so blending, overlapping, one voice right over the other and his mood is erratic and wild. Or the distance from the others - Meredith, Charlotte, even the grumpy old man, Jacob. In a way, they'd kept him grounding and in the present. In himself, at least.

But here, he's lost. No, literally, he has no fucking idea where he is, and the fact his mind is like a circus right now isn't really helping much. Nor is the fact he sees a woman looking suspiciously intense a few yards ahead of him, heading the opposite direction, hand on a knife at her hips. A goddamn knife. His eyes widen a little and he's about to turn and find another crowd to be in so as to avoid her, but the distraction has him taken under the current of the several other personalities swarming in his head like angry bees.

His voice snaps out before he has time to stop him, an arrogant, cocky tone, completely snide. ]

There are guards around, so murdering someone in broad daylight would pretty much be suicide, but there's always new candidates needed for the Darwin Award.

[ Passing out one moment on a creaky, fraying cot in an abandoned warehouse and waking up drowning had been a surprise to say the least. Isaac had believed he'd been dreaming, but even in the lucid dreams he was so used to, it never really felt like this. He was panicking, never having faced anything near this kind of near-death experience, and he'd felt the agonizing burn of water filtering into his nose, down his throat. He was near on passing out when the kedans finally fished him out.

The turtle had been another surprise. He's still half convinced he's stick in a strange vivid dream by the time it's several days later and he's wandering through the market place, trying to communicate with one of the stall owners. ]

No, laptop. It's a computer, portable, about-- [ Some hand motions illustrating the dimensions of a laptop ] --this size? It's...

[ After observing the merchant's complete lack of comprehension, Isaac sighs, hands dropping as he deflates, shoulders slumping inward in a typical kind of slouch. ] Nevermind. Thanks anyway. [ A frown tugging at his lips, he turns, glancing around the marketplace once more before stepping out onto the street, hands stuffed into his hoodie pockets. Maybe if he looks around he can find something else worth while. ]

[If there's one thing Arthur has learned in his time on the turtle, it's that you can't always trust your own eyes. Costigan was quite the lesson, in that area.

So yeah, when he spots the man who looks like Fischer, his first instinct is to turn tail and get the hell out as quickly and quietly as he can. But there's something niggling at the back of his mind, something that isn't quite right. It's not just the way the guy is dressed - sure, it's not Fischer's usual style, but he's taken to wearing the kedan style in his time here, not something he would normally wear back home.

It's more something in the way the guy holds himself, the way he speaks. It's nothing like the Robert Fischer he spent so much time studying.

But in the end, there's only one way to know for sure, and Arthur is, after all, the point man. It's his job to take the risks.]

You won't find any laptops here, I'm afraid. This place is pretty low-tech.
