cherrywood: (10. LANTERNS)

In the natural rhythms of arrivals and departures from Tu Vishan, some of the baby turtles recovered from Sinbrilee are now missing some of their stand-in mamas and papas. Having grown used to the reassurance of their caretakers, the hatchlings will once again seek out a psychic connection among the Foreigners.

From the original event post:
The eggs will 'resonate' when they are near their caretaker and the caretaker will feel compelled to seek it out. When they are near, the shell will become luminous and a peaceful feeling will come over those characters specifically chosen by their turtle [...] The turtles will learn very quickly, and soon their vocabularies will be more complex, enough to hold a complete conversation with, albeit telepathically. The babies will be very curious and full of questions, the most common one being 'why?' or 'what?' as they learn. They will be able to grasp theories of complex mathematics and physics without difficulty, and will seem to have an innate understanding of most things upon the simplest explanation.
This post will be used to fill in spots as they open through dropped characters so even if there are no spaces available right now, please consider putting your character in the running!

As always we ask that this be limited to one character per player to allow for the most people to be able to participate in this ongoing plot. We have increased the hatchling availability to a maximum of TWO characters per player as of May 2014.

Remember this is open to newly accepted characters as well, just snag the sign up and comment to this post. It's a great way to jumpstart CR and interact with other characters by sharing hatchling feeding tips, shell care and baby turtle fashion trends... or something like that.

Greetings again, fearless chelonauts! This little post is meant to herald the coming of the second part of the Console Crash plot, which is now live over yonder!

April 24th-30th | HOSTILE TAKEOVER;

Strategically speaking, the intent was to knock out the consoles and bomb the city to cause chaos and mayhem – what's that line? Some men just want to watch the world burn? Well, Malicant wants to roast marshmallows on that open flame!

Given that everyone's focus and attention is presently elsewhere, he is going to be infiltrating the palace and setting up shop there all by his ownsies – providing said ownsies involve rather a lot of his foot soldiers! Ever since Eshai's death, he's been winning over the palace guard by any means necessary, you know the drill. Blackmail, torture, mind control, the whole nine yards. This plot represents his coup de grace to take control of the palace, which represents one of the major power points in Tu Vishan.

What this means:
Evandau probably deserves your censure.
He's a soldier, not an Emperor! During the bombing, he made the decision to leave the palace to aid the police force, where his loyalties and supervision resided too long to simply ignore. This action made in ignorance left it open and vulnerable to Malicant's little plot. Feel free to call him on it! Just don't expect him to go "my bad" about it. Or be happy. Hakuna Matata is not a thing that happens in war, tyvm.

New or respawned characters will no longer be brought into the palace!
Naturally, it's not exactly in Malicant's best interest to continue bringing in people to vanquish him, so player characters will be brought in by the combined efforts of Eva and Milyn working together for a brighter future! This will be conducted in a series of safe houses in and around Keeliai, with the deposed Emperor, the deranged Magician, and the darling Healer staying on the move to keep from Malicant spoiling their attempts at drawing reinforcements.

Characters will now wake on a metal cot, guarded by Evandau and with Milyn immediately checking their vitals, etc to ensure that they were summoned wholly intact. Then, Eva will appear in their line of sight, her arms soaked to the elbow with water - a key part of the magic that brings characters here - and waving a hand flippantly at the care. She'll be apt to say that he/she's fine and that the grogginess will wear off in an hour or two. If it doesn't, try a spot of coffee and you'll be right as rain!

This particular ramification will not come into play for another WEEK in-game (beginning May 1st both OOCly and ICly) as first Evandau needs to realize that he done fucked up and needs a new source for his Foreigner squadron.

Ganon's Castle is now booby-trapped to hell.
Forget those lovely jaunts to the palace, this place is a Sage-made rainbow bridge away from being the unholy lair of a final boss. Remember how the palace turned black when Eshai died? Well, now it's black. And spiky. There is also a barrier around it, so good luck flying overhead to get a closer look, or burrowing underneath to find a way in. Touching this barrier will result in one of several possibilities: characters will lose consciousness, be hit with several thousand joules of amperage, or their skin may be turned some funny colour (sort of like a scarlet letter, except indicating how very nosy a character is!) . The colour does not fade easily and, frankly, it's easier to amputate the limb than scrub it off. Hurts less too, for it doesn't react very well to soaps. Or chemicals. Or much of anything. It sits there, a reminder of the barrier, kind of like the way a sheet will leave a mark on your face if you lie on a fold of it for too long.

The war on the doorstep.
Keeliai is now officially occupied, and things will progress as such. Given that Malicant is now publicly known to be a technopath, and has been setting up spies on every street corner, nowhere is truly safe. Characters are going to need to work a lot harder to keep their activities clandestine. Kedan will begin to amass together in safe houses and outside the city, but they are not a fighting species and therefore need a leader to start even the slightest of resistance movements. Evandau will be actively trying to secure weapons and munitions from police storage houses before Malicant's troops clear them out. Milyn will be helping to save what lives she can, while Eva... Well. She's always been a bit of a wild card.

And all this while the consoles are still dark.
Coordination and communication on the large-scale is in chaos and it's a situation like this where the Foreigners might have the upper hand, but do they? Can they? That's up to you. Does your character have a suggestion or solution for the technology dilemma? Feel free to email the mods (tushanshu AT gmail) or give us a summary of what your character would and could try to do to help the situation.

Have any questions? Please refer to the QUESTIONS section of the comments and ask away! We will answer them in as timely a method as possible. Otherwise, feel free to use this post to plot what your character(s) may be up to during this portion of the event!

NOTE: As a reminder, we now have an active game plurk @ [plurk.com profile] tushan that you can add.

ETA: There will be a "State of the Shell" post going up within a few days of this plot ending, which will detail all the IC changes that come from this plot. It will include format changes (like canon updates) and gameplay changse (like IC reactions and statuses) so that everyone can refer back to it as needed.

Greetings, Chelonauts! I come to you with a few possibilities that may be facing us in Tu Shanshu's final year. Yes, you heard that correctly – we are hoping to have the story wrapped up and completed by MARCH 2015. While that may seem like a good while away, we are laying the groundwork for how the final hurrah is going to go now in order to save us all some headaches and heartbreak in our future endeavours!

Over the next few months, there are going to be changes to the overall gameplay aspect of Tu Shanshu. Right now we are looking at three core options, and we'd like your help in deciding how to direct this particular aspect of the metaplot! This post outlines the three and, at the end, we're asking for your votes (in order of preference) so that we can identify the most appealing option to the playerbase and move forward with it.

Voting on these options will be open until February 15th and the results will be rolled up into an announcement before the end of the month.

Plot Direction - The Options
OPTION A
We are considering opening up the world for player exploration and plotting! This means allowing our past landfall locations to be accessed, and will result in a broader compendium of the world outside Keeliai for characters to explore. This would include character-driven plot involvement, with characters being allowed off Keeliai for exploratory, salvage or combat purposes. We would institute a system where people come to us in a general plotting post to establish what their characters would be interested in doing, so that we could work with those players to craft a more customizable personal experience in terms of how they can help advance the plot. The tone of the game would remain as it has been thus far – even-keeled with the occasional branch into action/horror elements.

This is considered an OFFENSIVE option in the struggle against Malicant.

OPTION B
Intensifying the plot with a focus on Keeliai itself! This means leaning towards an outright assault by Malicant, rather than the overtures he's been making at this time. Effectively, this option would turn Keeliai into the last stronghold of Konryu, and would allow for the final year of the game to be about siege warfare. Characters would be able to work on Keeliai-specific defenses and would directly combat the thread of Malicant; this would turn into a team effort overall, with meta and non-meta characters alike having critical roles in what transpires. There would be heightened NPC participation, and an overall darker tone to the game.

This is considered a DEFENSIVE option in the Malicant Diaries: Konryu Edition.

OPTION C
This option would involve having the barriers lowered once in a while, with Evandau leading or directing teams for a specific and distinct purpose. This option would allow for intermittent exploration and/or combat, with a focus on creating diverse teams of characters meant to foster cross-canon CR. It would also feature heightened NPC participation, as well as a darker shift in tone and a more militarized attitude in Keeliai proper. The city itself would remain mostly safe from the strife around Konryu, with the option of that changing as endgame approaches.

This option is considered to be a MIX OF OFFENSE AND DEFENSE in the Malicantolympics.

Plot Direction - The Voting
Tu Shanshu has always operated with an organic plot model, meaning that we have tweaked and redirected the plot based on both feedback and IC actions made by the characters. This vote is about continuing that, as we are asking for YOU, the players, to give us your preferences for how this will all turn out!

To do that, please use the below form to submit your preference vote to THIS thread in the comments.

As noted above, voting will remain open until February 15th and the results will be rolled up before the end of the month. Keep in mind that this voting is on an OOC level; list the options however you feel that you would have the most fun with!

Do you have any questions about this? No worries! We have a comment subheader HERE specifically for asking them. We will answer as quickly and coherently as possible!

Greetings, chelonauts! While things may seem down with the passing of the Emperor, hope and happiness have not been lost as two very important events are about to dawn on the city!

Christmas Presents
You read that right: presents! On December the 25th, Keeliai will wake up with a few provisions taken to ensure their comfort.

Foreigner holidays abound! )

In summary, characters will receive:
A weapon that suits their combat style OR magical healing salves/bandages and a talisman that can turn away a fatal blow, as well as giving characters a small radius of space in which to say the name Malicant.
A charm that enables characters to fly, or control elements or be super strong. Choose a charm suitable to your character's abilities. We are not policing these so please be reasonable. Characters may gift charms to others.
Juulan (100) and crystalline fruits that are super delicious and keep forever.

Hatching Days!
Keeliai has a big bundle of joy coming its way!

Silent night jokes can start now. )

If you have any questions, there will be two posted sub-headers in the comment section! Otherwise, feel free to plot to your hearts' content.

So, Eshai is dead and the Alderwood Emperor has assumed command of Keeliai. What does that mean for the turtle, you ask?

Well, first of all: Asti. There is going to be a massive surge of emotion all across the turtle. It'll be a little too complicated for most people to comprehend but there will be feelings of despair and sadness, but it'll be followed by a sense of protection and safety/security as Asti tries to apologize for letting his emotions run away with him. This feeling will happen around six AM, so anyone who's sleeping will probably be jolted awake at this time.

Second of all: Investigations. As Foreigners are largely considered to be incapable of sneaking into the palace after the efforts of ASS, as heightened security measures were put into place at that time, Evandau is going to suspect it was an inside job, possibly a kedan possessed by Malicant. So while security will be a little heightened, most of it won't reflect on the Foreigner population.

Thirdly: The Barrier. Eshai put failsafes into effect that would preserve the barrier in the event of her accidental or untimely demise, so it will remain as it is at present.

Fourth: The Palace. At the time of Eshai's death, the walls of the white palace will have turned jet black, and they will be cracked and crumbled in places. It should be assumed that the name 'Malicant' will no longer be safe to say there, and so cannot be discussed anywhere on Tu Vishan.

Fifth: Arrival of the Newbies. As with the barrier, the newbies will arrive on schedule. This is not a permanent system, and will eventually degrade to the point of non-functionality, at which time other ways to pull people into Keeliai will have to be found. If your character would have suggestions or be willing to help try and maintain the process, have them contact the Alderwood Emperor, who has set up an IC Inbox for ease of communication in this time of dire need.

Sixth: General Atmosphere. The general atmosphere of the game – towards the Foreigners – will not change, but the kedan will be in a state of mourning. There will be small celebrations held in Eshai's name, and there will be Lanterns released into the air in her honour. There will be no centralized celebration, and while the kedan will seem a little sadder than usual, they won't likely discuss it with the Foreigners.

Seven: Malicant. Is cackling gleefully somewhere. Stay tuned for now!

Death & Dreaming )
ironwood: (Default)
[personal profile] ironwood
Evening, chelo-nauts! Alex here to announce that the Malicant plot event is in its final stages, with the official end date being July 13th (known as 'Saturday' in some tongues). This entire event worked around the structure of team and independent investigations addressing the pressing issue of Tu Vishan's help in the context of Malicant being the root cause. Absolutely none of the outcomes to this event were planned in advance and, instead, they were reached by the actions and reactions of each character involved in it, team or otherwise. With that in mind, this post compiles summaries of what each team did, a listing of the independent investigations, and a final summary of how this has impacted Keeliai and Tu Vishan.

Team Summaries )

Independent Investigations )

Conclusion
Here is the final summary of the event's impact on the city of Keeliai, the kedan population, and Tu Vishan itself! <3

Health & Powers
Due to the combined efforts of the characters, both in the independent investigations and with the team actions, Tu Vishan will be returning to full health! This will take up to two months for its full effect to come into play, but immediately there is a return of powers across the board. These powers start at roughly 70% of normal and will, over the course of two months, return to 100% in accordance with Tu Vishan's health.

Malicant
Many of the aspects of Malicant's enterprises within the kedan population have been hobbled or completely eradicated, setting it back to square one. Maybe two. The fearful murmurings of its existence will fade into the background as the kedan resume day-to-day life -- trigged by Tu Vishan swimming once more. Things appear to be back to normal. At least, for the moment.

Rationing
The rationing will be officially lifted by July 20th, with the health of Tu Vishan monitored a full week before the decree is lifted.

Kedan PR
With the restoration of the turtle and the lifting of the rationing sanctions, the kedan will show a positive improvement of opinion with regards to the Foreigners. They may not have banished Malicant completely, but they have saved the turtle from its illness and that is more than enough for the kedan.

Timing
The final date of the event is July 13th, with the characters waking up that day feeling the 70% restoration and Tu Vishan rising back to normal flotation levels as he continues onwards in his swim across the vast oceans of Konryu. All PSDs will be confiscated by this point and the portion of the investigations involving Foreigners closed off. Characters can report to precinct headquarters to review official case files for what their team was involved in.

Other
Do you have an questions about the outcome of this event? Feel free to comment in the Questions thread header of this post or by contacting us. As a side note, the HMD for this event should be going up this weekend sometime.

The next event commences July 24th -- an OOC post will come out early next week to outline the details and enable plotting for it.

Good evening, Chelonauts! The time has come to introduce the first part of our two-parter June event! Sit back, relax, and mayhaps chuckle with evil glee as we embark upon another great adventure here in Turtletopia.

Meta / Power Reduction )

OOC Organisation
With the details about the first phase of the plot shared, we now take a moment to call for input on how y'all would like the second phase to be handled OOCly. The goal of phase two will be to Solve Things and there will be many a thing to solve in order to sort things out. To give an insight into what will happen, phase two will be kicked off by an IC post by Evandau basically giving Foreigners free-rein to solve Tu Vishan's sudden worsening. What happens after that will be influenced by player action, reaction, and interaction. (More details will be provided in a separate plotting post once the OOC organisation plan is set.)

Right now, we're looking at allowing players to submit teams of PC characters that will be working together to solve what's wrong with Tu Vishan. I (being Alex) would then provide each team with a set of clues every 2-3 days during the event that they could work with. This would function like a choose-your-own-adventure game, with each set of clues coming with multiple choice options for how the team might react. Each team would look over the clues, then get back to me with their next step. Then they would recieve another set of clues.

Another option would be to have sign-ups and then teams formed by RNG completed by the mods, with a similar clue system involved.

So, we're looking for input on how to proceed! There is a specific subheader in the comments for this feedback and if you could complete the following form, you would be providing us a great service!

As always, there is a sub-header in the comments for questions. If you have specific questions about this plot, please contact Alex ([plurk.com profile] reignsdown) as she is (a) on days off and (b) is the lead mod on this event. Otherwise, feel free to plot in the comments of this post!

Greetings and Salutations, brave Chelonauts! This here is the heralding post of our SECOND In-game landfall, and as with the last time I ask that you please read it over carefully, as it will have some changes to IC gameplay. This is an 'opt in' plot rather than an 'opt out' plot. Characters who remain on Keeliai will have a few things to do or react to as well!

You disembark from Tu Vishan to a clean, well-kempt port. There are a fair amount of ships here, and though they're dwarfed in size and scope by Tu Vishan, miraculously none are capsized. Everything is almost militaristically organized, and there are officials posted at intervals along Tu Vishan's docked side checking paperwork as people disembark (said paperwork is official documentation of your character's stay in Keeliai, it will be delivered to your character's suite a few days before they make landfall) It's standard procedure, they explain. There will be a mandatory quarantine period of up to twelve hours for anyone trying to gain access to the portside city of Atamsichar. This quarantine involves your character being stripped, hosed down, their blood tested and a period of isolation while their bloodtests are checked for anything particularly nasty. Rest assured, unless you've been engaging in sex with corpses, you're probably fine.

As usual, feel free to use this post to plot amongst yourselves, and there will be a comment header for any questions you might have. Please field all questions/concerns/etc to Roy, either here or over at [plurk.com profile] vonnerdyce!

Also, if we find this event needs to run a bit longer so people can accomplish things in a less constrained timeframe, that's also cool, we're going to take a look at how the event's sitting a few days in and make a decision then, but we'd also love to hear your opinion in the meantime!

AND AS A REMINDER: ITEM REQUESTS are still open for this landfall! We will be compiling the requests and adding them to this page in a few days, you will have until WEDNESDAY the 3rd to get your requests in and have them count for this round!

PLOT WITH US

So, you've seen our garden variety CR with me meme, this here is a similar thing but with a bit of a twist.

This time, it's plotting with the mods themselves to impact/influence the actual overarching game plot!

Here's the deal. Give us some ideas for what you might like to see your character involved with or doing, and we'll try to integrate it into the overall meta plot on the happen here! Although these logs are closed to the characters involved, it might be a good idea to read them to get an idea of where the plot of Tu Shanshu might be going (keep in mind though, OOC=/=IC and your characters won't know any of this unless told by one of those four people).

This is a hugely experimental thing and we actually aren't even sure if it'll take off or if people will be interested, so please bear with us and any mistakes we might make. We have an incredible cast of extremely interesting and diverse characters here, and our standard MO has been to involve a few characters at a time in the plot as it comes up, so obviously not everyone will have a place at the plot all at once, though we try extremely hard to keep things fair and character-appropriate as the opportunity arises to involve someone.

An example of things we've done so far:

●Favrielle and Yue were brought onstage and threatened with execution by the leader of the Black Kirin
●We had Natasha be a mole in the Kedan gang war so that she could find out about the attempt to cripple the turtle
●Annabeth, the Doctor, Hellboy and Zatanna are currently being given world information that will be brought up/used at their discretion by an NPC.

Please note: these are by no means the only 'sorts' of things that can happen in the game. If you play a reporter character, maybe you could ask to have them overhear something interesting but relevant to the plot, etc. Roles can be either smaller or larger depending on circumstance. Another thing to note: we usually only try to involve one player at a time, so if you play more than one character you might have to pick a preferred one to be involved in something, because that keeps it a little more fair to all of our players across the board and invites a larger and more broad-spectrum 'player' involvement.

Questions, comments, concerns?

And here's a handy form to fill out for any potential character involvement:

Greetings, Chelonauts! This here is the official OOC planning post for the LANDFALL event! This event is going to run from November 1st to November 31st (with a sort of gradual 'wind down' on the last few days) and participation in it is entirely optional! Characters can pretty much stay in their houses if they don't feel like taking part. LANDFALL COMES WITH NUMEROUS CHANGES TO IC GAMEPLAY, SO PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY AND ASK IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

You disembark from the back of Tu Vishan into a realm of hellish misery. There is nothing visible near the coastland at all. The ground beneath your feet is cracked and broken and dry, the air is hot enough to scald the lungs. There are no cities, no streets. No structures in the visible distance. There's an eerie stillness all around you, and noises – rather than echo – seem almost stagnant in the air. The kedan seem restless and uneasy. Most of them opt to stay behind on Tu Vishan rather than forge onward into the mainland, though some are content to merely collect their day's rations and go.

Note: Anyone who leaves Tu Vishan is given approximately 24 hours' worth of water and food, and are expected to return within that time frame. However, as not all characters are like to comply to this, it is possible for characters to pool their rations in the hopes that someone can get a significant distance into the continent, if they're an exploratory-type character. Your character could also smuggle rations from home – but the continent's a big place. Are you sure you want to set out with nothing more than a backpack?

THE MAINLAND

● While on the mainland, characters will have small, cellular communicators courtesy of Stark Industries. Please note: THESE CAN ONLY MAKE PERSON-TO-PERSON CALLS. They cannot under any circumstance connect to a 'network' and they cannot do 'network' style posts.

● Some kedan may approach foreigners of their acquaintance with special requests. They might ask for a specific sort of food from the mainland (maybe there's a rare sort of plant or flower that's managed to grow, or maybe they're hoping for some canned rations from one of the burnt out cities) or they might need some sort of resource in their day-to-day lives. They'd offer up meagre savings for these requests. But surely you won't take money just to be a decent person, right...?

● The kedan will warn your characters about the 'llothi' before they disembark from the turtle. Llothi are nine feet tall creatures with horribly inverted joints (that look broken more than naturally formed) and don't appear to have any skin. Their features are almost canid and their eye sockets are empty, though ichor seeps forth from the sockets themselves. These creatures will attack based on sight, smell or sound and any scratches incurred from their claws will become horrifically infected. They've been known to swipe through solid steel, so look out! These creatures hunt in pairs usually established by mating hierarchy. Despite their feral nature, they're ruthlessly intelligent, and will sometimes employ a third creature, a 'daemid', to lure people into traps. Daemids are small, scaled humanoid creatures that can mimic sounds and voices and will often stalk people for days to be able to accurately reflect their voices, and will oftentimes pretend to be trapped or injured to facilitate a response.

● The terrain on the mainland is black, scorched rock, the climate is arid and there's almost no above-ground water anywhere. Earthquakes are frequent. There are numerous active volcanoes in the area, and there's almost always a fine coating of ash on everything, despite the frequency of sirocco winds. Everything is varying shades of dismal grey.

● Characters will encounter burnt out buildings, twisted hunks of metal and concrete. Some radio towers are still active. What remains of the buildings suggests a domed shape and structure, though some are simply straight spires. The buildings have been superheated and warped beyond any feasible repair. Some still reach up into the sky like broken fingers, and they're certainly climbable to those that like their heights. However, ascending to the top will only give you more view of the same – the wasteland, dotted with the occasional burnt-out city or town. There are mountains in the far distance some several hundred miles away and they might be covered in vegetation, but it's hard to tell at this distance, isn't it?

● For characters with powers, you will find them dampened the further they venture from the turtle. At ten miles onshore, their powers will have faded by roughly half. A further ten miles will see them completely removed. This affects every preternatural ability – laser vision, pyrokinetics, super strength. If you aren't sure whether your character's abilities will be affected, please ask.

● For characters who rely on technology rather than superpowers, they'll find those rather difficult to use as well. Gadgets that were working flawlessly a few minutes ago now seem aged and worn beyond usefulness. Oh, you have a jetpack from the planet Zorg? Congratulations, it won't work here. Explosives seem to have lost their potency. The cellphones that are issued to the characters will have difficulty connecting the farther out the characters venture, and there's quite a bit of static on the line when they do make calls.

● THE MAUSOLEUM: The mausoleum is the only standing structure within a few days' walk from the Turtle, and it's a doozy. The walls look to be made of an unidentifiable black metal, and no attacks or explosives will so much as scratch it. Inside...? Well. Inside is lined with thousands upon thousands of coffins. These coffins are numbered rather than named. Pulling them out of their niches in the walls and breaking them open will reveal corpses in various states of decay from the very recent to the very ancient. They all have one curious thing in common, though... all of them seem to be twisted in agony. However, any forensics taken will reveal nothing unusual in even a full-panel work-up.

●WHAT CAN BE FOUND IN THE OLD CITIES: Nearly anything within reason. If you want your character to open up a hidden trap door in the concrete foundation of an old building and find some stuff, feel free. Try not to overdo it – they aren't going to find a fully stocked panic room with a million shiny gadgets over which they can ooh and ahh, but they could definitely find a panic room with a bunch of rotted rations and maybe some firearms. Some will be rusted or unusable, but you might get one or two viable firearms, and you might be able to find ammunition somewhere. Just be realistic. If you want your character to find something in particular and you aren't sure if it would be allowed, please ask.

A thing to note is that there are no corpses anywhere in any of the cities.

ITEMS:

Certain items have been approved to be found on the mainland! The people requesting them of course have first dibs to find them, but perhaps it can be worked out otherwise if people want some quick and easy CR!

GARRET HAWKE | one (1) approved mabari warhound by the name of 'Dr. Thunder'
FAVRIELLE NO EGLANTINE | two books (The Trois Milles Joies & Naamah's Journey) and a bottle of joie.
HANCOCK | his supersuit
BRUCE WAYNE| his Batsuit.

(We're posting this one week in advance for planning purposes. Let us know if this works for you!)

Just a quick note in relation to this post. Please note: NPCs are unaware of anyone's 'secret identity' unless or until otherwise informed. For example: Iron Man is definitely publicly known as Tony Stark, but Bruce Wayne has been keeping people in the dark (har, har) about Batman, both on and off the networking system. Please assume that if your character is called to arms in these posts that their secret identities are not compromised, and that any character presenting themselves as 'normal' is essentially just a clerical error on the roster.

Also: Due to the way encryptions work on the consoles, characters can't actually see the entirety of the encrypted 'group', and so would have no idea who they're paired up with until they all show up in the same place or otherwise announce themselves.

I hope that clears everything up for now! But as usual, if you have any questions you can fire 'em my way either here, or at [plurk.com profile] vonnerdyce. Thanks, guys!

The gang war kicks off now, with an IC post going up from Evandau ([personal profile] alderwood) in the next few minutes to get IC things going. How's this going to work? Easy!

Over the course of the next week, three separate party-style logs will be posted by the mods for the main events mentioned in this post with details about the specific event, the challenges that will be faced, and the likelihood of success that the participants will have. The participants to these logs will be limited to the crisis response teams that Evandau is going to list in his post (and is listed later in this one). These teams were formed based on the sign-up requests of the members, with each character limited to one team and, therefore, one log. The first log will go up later tonight!

In addition to the team events/logs, there the solo events officially kick off today! The bottom of this post addresses that and includes a link to the Gdocs spreadsheet that details how many solo missions each character has, along with the number of times they succeed at it.

IC Impact:
Aside from the impact of the major events, characters are likely to notice a further increase of crime, to the point that it's not recommended that one go out alone. Violence is spreading and those familiar with the signs will be able to tell that the power vacuum in the wake of the festival is coming to a head. There are targetting killings, largescale thefts, and plenty of people being made example of as gangs seek to establish their superiority. It's gotten to the point that event the normally peaceful, crime-free sectors are experiencing unprecedented levels of criminal activity.

Team Events - Teams:
As mentioned, each of the major events will be addressed by teams of player characters based on sign-up requests. These teams are as follow:

Solitary Missions:
These missions are free to handwave or log however you like on your own. It's basically an opportunity to get your characters out there and involved without the deeper involvement that will come with the team events. Based on the sign-ups, we've done up a Gdocs spreadsheet that lists how many official missions each character will undertake, along with the number of successes.

Solo Missions | Breakdown

Rather than us set it in stone, we've left it open to you to decide the nature of each mission your character(s) will undertake, be the outcome success or fail. As a reminder, the general idea of tasks up for offer will vary, but run along the lines of:

>arresting known gang members
>seizing contraband
>escort valuable goods/persons
>finding/freeing hostages

That about covers it! If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here or by contacting one of the mods and we'll answer them as soon as possible!
