Event | Malicant | June 25th - July 13th
Disclaimer: This posts consists of a lot of reading, in particular for the OOC organisation of the event. Please read everything as it could all turn out relevant to your character(s).
It's official! The meta/power reduction kicked off on the 16th and it's time to roll out plotting for phase two: Malicant. To facilitate that, I've compiled the results from the Clueventure OOC survey and will go over it first before launching into the phase two material.
Clueventure OOC Organisation
We had plenty of feedback to the survey and we super appreciate it! Based on player suggestions, we will be executing the OOC organisation of the event along the following lines:
Teams
The character team assignments will be split as follows: Ten teams will be assembled based on independent characters signed up for RNG teams and five team slots will be available for player arranged teams. This provides for a total of fifteen teams. The teams will be 4-5 characters each, allowing for up to 75 characters to be directly involved in the choose-your-own-clueventure portion of the plot. Sign-ups will be made in the comments of this post and according to instructions provided later within it.
Choose-Your-Own-Clueventure
We will be proceeding with a choose-your-own-adventure style of plot, with each team being provided three sets of clues over the course of the event. Each set of clues will have 2-4 "choices" for each group to make as to how they will proceed next, to which we will craft the next set of clues to expand on.
Frequency
While the majority vote fell on a shorter interval, we're going with providing clues to each team every five days. These will be staggered, with three teams receiving a set of clues each day. This means that over the course of five days, each team will receive one clue set and can do as they will before the next round of clues begin. This also means that the event will run until the 13th of July, with the final clue set being released on the 9th. We are hoping this will allow a good balance between new information and time to react in-game as per player preference.
Impact
The vast majority spoke to having some dead-end options so we shall do that! Therefore, please keep in mind when signing up that not all teams will make a 100% successful contribution to solving the plot. Which teams will be successful and to which extent will be determined by their clue-reactions and our old friend RNG.
Organisation
This post will be used to sign-up for the RNG assignment or to submit player teams. Please note that if more than five player teams are submitted, we will pick which teams to allow based on RNG on a team level. To account for the risk of a team not being selected, all player-submitted teams will have an option to have their characters RNG'd into teams. If fewer than five planned teams are submitted, we will fill those team slots with RNG teams.
Once the event is underway, there will be five log posts made with threads for three of the teams in each. There will be a subheader for clues to be OOCly provided by the mods in these threads. These posts will go up over the course of five days, with each team's first batch of clue's provided. Please note that an OOC post will go up on the 23rd that outlines the teams, the timeline as to when their logs and clues will go up, and provides for some OOC plotting ahead of time.
Within each log post, teams can thread to their hearts desire over any and every part of the plot they are involved in. Beyond that, I will be asking for each team to OOCly reply to their provided clues within three days of receiving them in order to maximise the time on my end needed to put together the next clue set for that team. This will involve the team (or a speaker for the team) replying to the last clue set and indicating which option they will pursue -- it is asked that they one pursue one option on the grounds that every character is operating as a baseline human due to the power reduction and may not have the resources necessary to investigate all three. Also, because it would make OOCly organising everything so much easier if we only have to provide one set of follow-up options per clue interval per team.

Phew! With that barrel of organisational details out in the open, it's time to discuss what's actually going to happen! And, y'know, the all important team sign-ups.
Malicant - The Plot
What is happening?
The morning of June 25th will dawn into a feeling of stagnancy all over the turtle. There will be a rusty haze spreading over the shell and no breeze to dispel it. Those that venture to the shell's edge (a full five-six hour cart ride) will notice that there is no current of motion in the water and the shell has dipped ten metres deeper into the ocean. This is because Tu Vishan has come to a full stop, too tired and ill to continue further on his oceanic trek. Over the course of the next week, he will sink a metre or more each day into the water and the haze will thicken considerably. Silent Hill, you say? IF ONLY.
What can we do?
Funny you should say that, because Evandau will make a post the morning of June 25th. This post will amount to him throwing his hands in the air and saying that there is nothing more he, Eshai, or the kedan can do for Tu Vishan and now it is up to you, the Foreigners, to save them. Help him, PC Wan Kenobi, you're his only hope.
He will provide a concise, encrypted explanation that this is Malicant's work. While the illness certainly resembles the slow decay of the other great turtles, it is going way too fast to be natural and therefore Malicant is obviously to blame. He will, at that time, explain a bit about Malicant, but will focus more on his instructions. These instructions? That he's looking for Foreigners to team up and solve the mystery of the great turtle plague. He has fifteen vague leads to be followed up on and will provide a dossier with each set of leads to teams that report in at the precinct that exists in the very centre of Keeliai (on the Fire side of where the five Sectors meet). Foreigners will be allowed to report in groups or volunteer individually and be assigned teams by the kedan officers and/or Evandau at that location.
This is where the clues will start up and those logs will come into play. To ICly explain the five day delay between the first teams and the last teams receiving clues, there will be handwaved briefings and administration that will permit three teams to hit the ground running on each day.
What if our characters are not on a team?
They will be welcome to explore and investigate around the city and shellside, no worries! They are apt to discover a massive spike in the rate of decay, some portions of the shell becoming brittle, and what appears to be odd rashes over any exposed skin of Tu Vishan. They will not, however, be part of the overall solution due to OOC logistics. They may have an impact, however! When and how this works will be covered off in the OOC post announcing the teams for the event. Players for characters not signed up or, in the event that more than 75 sign up, any than do not make a team will be able to submit a summary of what their character will look into and we will provide a reply as to the findings and effects. This will be a one-time thing for these characters in order to maximise the time for the clueventure logistics.
What exactly is happening to Tu Vishan?
Well, if I told you that now, where would the fun be? 8D The overview is that a type of poisoning is the cause and it is very deeply rooted, thus the need for Foreigner intervention.

Wow! I know, I know... 'Alex, are you done talking yet?' ALMOST, I PROMISE.

QUESTIONS
Re: QUESTIONS
mostly because two characters who probably would not work apart oops:|aRe: QUESTIONS
So, optimally? A minimum of four. Alternately, you could submit a team of three and if we don't get five team sign-ups, I could simply balance the numbers by adding a sixth to one of the RNG teams. I will be honest and say that I'd prefer not to do this for logistics reasons.
Does that make sense? (I ask because I am on painkillers and TOTALLY not 100% coherent rn.)

Re: QUESTIONS
If we submit a player team and more than five teams are submitted, should we also add our characters to the RNG pool, or will they be auto-added if their team is not selected?EDIT: OH NO WAIT I CAN READ.
