Our awesome mods have recently given me permission to run a small player plot thingie that will result in a bit more metaplot info, and I wanted to extend the opportunity to any and all magic user character out there.

This evening, Zatanna will be making an IC post looking for help with a spell.  A big, big spell.  The idea is to combine different powers together in a magic circle to attempt to reach out and figure if Asti is being kept under some sort of magic coma or otherwise affected in such a way that he is unable to escape.  Now, the main focus WILL just be identification, not necessarily immediate rescue, and I've been told that once the spell is activated, metaplot info will be revealed.

Once the IC establishment of who wants in has been made, later in the week, I'll be posting the log.  I'm thinking three separate parts: First, an open mingle pre-spell where characters can discuss their respective abilities.  Second, the actual casting.  And Third, an aftermath section where they can discuss what they just felt/heard/saw/etc.

Thoughts/Comments/Suggestions?

So now that there's one more Dead Man in the game, Anton, Erskine and Skulduggery are going to hereby resort to some of their old tactics in the face of obvious anti-Foreigner tensions around the place. Specifically, acting like idiots to disarm their enemies.

More specifically, they're going to spam the network. It'll be with random, innocuous stuff, casual conversation and generally speaking things that can be handled in person.

The intent is to, over time, train whoever might be spying on their activities into being less thorough in keeping track of Foreigner use of the network, both consoles and radio--now that the Foreigners know the radios can be hacked. Who wants to wade through threads and threads of dumb stuff on the off-chance someone says something relevant? No one, that's who.

The Dead Men aren't going to tell anyone beforehand so go ahead and have your characters react organically! But if anyone figures it out, they're welcome to join in.

Otherwise, don't be alarmed by the sudden network spam. The trolls have landed, that's all.

SO WHO REMEMBERS THIS POST

I've got OOC approval to move forwards with the plot, so with Yokai winding down, I will be making an IC post by the end of the day (barring any issues) with Callaghan mentioning he's working with the local university to start some classes/trying to see if anyone else is interested in helping him out with that whole thing.

At the moment, as opposed to setting up their own school, he's looking at just taking what Keeliai already has to offer and using that as a starting point. It may eventually, down the line, mutate in to a more Foreigner-run thing, but right now Callaghan's more concerned with at least getting the local university...well, maybe not quite up to his standards but definitely a bit more organized than it already is. School is important, kids. Get u n edumacation.

It looks like the Foreigners aren't as unique as they thought!

As Milyn's post on the network revealed, there were several attacks on kedan throughout the city, which led by the by to them discovering they now have soul gems that appear to function just like those possessed by the Foreigners.

This news will also significantly unnerve other kedan, as the soul gems are widely known to be a Foreigner tether to this world -- or at least, they were up until now. There won't be any undue hostility towards the Foreigners over this, just a general sense of fear and worry among the kedan.

Milyn's taken temporary charge of the group of seven, and quarantined them at the Healer's Guild to make sure whatever's happened to them isn't going to somehow spread, since all seven kedan also had (or has) a virus called zhyris, the symptoms of which were briefly outlined in Milyn's section of the May itinerary. She's asked that the quarantine be respected by both Foreigners and other kedan, including the family head NPCs, for everyone's safety.

After one week, Milyn will determine that whatever has caused this, it doesn't appear to be communicable, and they'll be released into the protective custody of the NPC families, in case any of the kedan get the brilliant idea to try weeding out the now-abnormal individuals. They'll be making an appearance during the upcoming Public Courtyard, where more information about them will be available.

Important!
Because PCs won't be able to question the kedan victims themselves, Milyn's taken it upon herself to get some information from them regarding their attacks, and will relay it to any character who requests to know. The victim's information is inside the cut, and players can assume that she told them everything noted below, without needing to tag into the post to ask for it; ie, it can be handwaved that she gave them this information mostly so I'm not having the same thread over and over.

Please note that for metaplot purposes, she won't be expanding on the victims' scenarios any more than what's written in this plot post. ICly, she'll just say that she's respecting that these poor kedan deserve SOME privacy, and probably chastise anyone pushing for additional details as being extra snoopy.

THE SOUL-GEMMED KEDAN VICTIMS )

Additionally, one of the things that will be brought up at the Courtyard log will be temporarily assigning these kedan to a Foreigner partner, to help them better understand the concept of a soul gem, at least until more information is discovered. While it'll be ICly brought up in that log, we wanted to mention it ahead of time, so people can consider whether their character would be interested in helping out this way.

Questions regarding this plot can be asked to this post, thank you!

Hey guys, because it's been tossing about in my head for a while and came up a bit on the CR meme; who would be interested in helping Callaghan here start up some school(s)?

The/his original plan was primarily open-air lectures, open to both Foreigner and Kedan and anyone else; essentially, a way of teaching people how do their own improvements with simple technologies that are easily applied to the areas here. Ex; less solar power and robots, more efficiency-with-materials and so on and so forth. (OOCly, it's one of those 'I'm not sure about the specifics, but the character I play is way smarter than I am and I am sure they could come up with something'.) Also; more vocational/trade-school style as opposed to straight-up book knowledge.

It's starting to mutate a bit more in to an actual place of learning; with that in mind, any other characters who might be interested in hosting their own lecture/classes could get involved here. I'll probably have Cal do an IC interest check some time later, and things can go from there; at the moment, though, I'm just testing the waters to see if anyone's OOCly interested in getting involved.

This isn't necessarily something that will be made with the goal of turning some sort of profit; a respected reputation is enough for Callaghan [along with, well, the opportunity to keep going with it], though other characters may think otherwise. It's not something he'd necessarily think to charge tuition for, other than using the skills acquired to, well, keep it going. Screw The Bottom Line, basically. But yeah, uh, anyone up for discussion/talk on this maybe? 8D;;

I'm trying to come up with things for Tazendra to do, and I wondered if there was interest in her gathering the magical members of the Foreigners in a 'hey, let's talk shop and consider things'. Given she has no organizational skills, it could be... interesting, but Tazendra is the sort of person who is really into magic. So, would folks be interested in this?

(The other one was commented on on Plurk: Iroh finds out about Valentines Day and, with Zuko paired up, turns his matchmaking skills to other Foreigners. So, hey, if anyone wants awkward first dates.)

Hey there, cats and kittens! As you may have noticed, the Palace of Landed Sky is a bit, er, empty as dicks right now, and all of that land is freeeee for the taking!

Sort of.

Not really.

As discussed by Tony, Gene, Sokka, and (peripherally) Valdis, this subset of idiot boys has decided to try and see how they can normalize Foreigner/kedan relations. Gene had brought the idea of formally doing something with the Palace to the family heads and other important NPCs at the forum, and the NPCs opted to think about it and get back to him after the Shangpar race. Now that it's over, heeeeeere are the results, per the mods!

Someone's gonna walk out of this room unhappy. )

Given the gang situation in Keeliai and the fact that many characters are going to want to investigate/get involved with the gangs on their own, it has been suggested that the foreigners should get together and actually coordinate their efforts and share intel.

The current plan to instigate this IC is for Tony to come back from his meeting with Zanru (which will not go well) and start ranting about taking Stark Industries back by force, prompting a couple more level-headed people to intervene and kickstart the discussion about infiltrating the gangs in a more subtle and concerted manner.

So, in this plotting post we should discuss:
• who will be present for that initial discussion (atm Gene, Sokka, Valdis and Cain muns are already signed up for this, which is probably about the limit the thread, unless one of them changes their mind)
• who will hear about it second-hand and how
• what relevant skills people have
• who is going to be cozying up to which gangs
• short-term goals (get their possessions back, get weapons, get access to their tech, get on the good side of the gang leaders, integrate the foreigners into kedan society so they can work and eat without being harassed, etc.)
• possible long-term goals (try to help one gang take control, or maintain the three-way balance, or put in place a more formal government and weaken all the gangs, etc...?). It's pretty early to be discussing this since the foreigners only know the basic outline of the situation and power dynamics right now, but if you think your character would already have strong opinions, you may want to note that here. How this discussion goes and whether it comes up at all will depend heavily on IC interactions.

I think it makes the most sense to put up a catch-all log for this, which will include the thread for the initial discussion, as well as threads for meetings that will occur later as word gets out.

Thanks to the diligent investigation by multiple characters, some key points about the boss battle are now known! Here's a quick breakdown of them:

  1. Malicant will need to be faced below the shell, entered via Dreaming.
Going below the shell on the Life Plane will result in them getting brainfried! But the Dreaming doesn't have the same parameters, so characters won't have the same reactions (you know, like bleeding from orifices). Characters will have to find a suitable spot to get a large amount of people below the surface and enter through a Dreaming portal. Key points will be the psychic shielding to get the portals set up, the diorama to find an optimal place to do so, and the experiences of those who've already been below the shell who will know what to expect.

  2. The Dreaming will need to be manipulated to put them on even terms with Malicant.
Since the Dreaming is a plane of manipulated willpower, characters will not be limited to their physical capabilities in a head to head battle with the Big Bad. Malicant's power is subversive, and so characters will need to employ the same tactics. Increased sensitivity to the Dreaming will be achieved through an injection of refined Gha'nal venom, supplied by Milyn and practical tips by those who have used this method before. Every character will have the chance to craft themselves the best scenario in which to meet Malicant.

  3. The boons provided by "Asti" may be more hindrance than help.
Confronted on his home turf, Malicant will be pulling out all the stops to control the Foreigners. Those who are most closely linked to him, by use of the boons and possibly other "gifts" he's dispensed in his time posing as Tu Vishan, will be coming into play... and not for the better. Eva will be able to provide more information on this topic, though she still lacks access to her magic. Key points of this will be contact with Eva and those who have been making use of the gifts.

ETA: Here are the list of characters who have a boon and are still in game, from this list:

    Amelia [personal profile] loquaciouslyfeline
    Annabeth Chase [personal profile] sophos
    Donnatello [personal profile] i_speak_softly
    Enjolras [personal profile] solo_patria
    Gene Khan [personal profile] wrathfulkhan
    Jackie Ma [personal profile] jinzhong
    Korra [personal profile] alphatar
    Michaelangelo [personal profile] michaeljangelo
    Midii Une [personal profile] unetrustworthy
    Raine Sage [personal profile] ruinsprofessor
    Skulduggery Pleasant [personal profile] skeletonenigma
    Solomon Wreath [personal profile] peacefullywreathed
    Wanijima Akito [personal profile] akito
Yami no Bakura [personal profile] denyamenti
    Zelgadis [personal profile] gathersnomoss

ETA2: The exact level of control these things (boon, taint, etc) on each character is left to player discretion. It will be entirely possible to start out controlled and then break that influence during the fight, making them able to switch sides and help with others who are still Mali-puppeted. Only those with no external influence will start out unhindered by Malicant's effects.

  4. There is a Vilii stone that will be the key.
Hidden below the shell, this stone was created from Malicant's inception eons ago. In the visions experienced by some characters, and with that vision shared to everyone because of the hatchling's telepathic link, it seems that this stone had the ability to "shatter" Malicant. Characters will need to find it and determine the best way of making sure everyone can have access. Key points will be those who investigated the Vilii on previous missions or who spoke to any of the Realm Watcher NPCs in Valishaera.
---

There will be a collective event log for all these things going up in the next day or so (once everyone's had a chance to organize) that will feature these sections in sub headers, and then a final log will go up at a later date which will be the actual face off against Malicant. Plotting can be done on this post.

As we have a hard plot end deadline of Nov 30th, so I'd like to have the Malicant log posted AROUND the ~15th of the month at the latest, two give people a full two weeks max to thread out the end battle.

If you have any questions, please use the Questions header in this post.

Anyone who wants in on this is still totally welcome!

I just got the IC Logs up for both getting info/making plans (here) and the actual possession attempt (here).

Once a few IC specifics are hammered out, the possession attempt log will be updated to no longer be a place holder. Mostly we have to figure out the actual location of the possession attempt and how many places people will be attempting distractions for Malicant at so that those can be accounted for and reacted to. Probably by cultists and Malicant himself, if any response is given at all.

The original plotting post is here if you missed it or want to talk with others OOCly about getting your character in on this. :)

Spoilers: It won't work. But Wan is going to try anyway. ((Also, actual spoilers for the Avatar Universe if you aren't caught up on that.))

That's right, Wan, being both an Avatar and someone who doesn't always think his actions through, is going to attempt to merge with the Great Turtle Asti that everyone is riding on and force Malicant out. Since, you know, two spirits can't possess the same creature at one time. Or so the logic goes. And he's going to fail pretty miserably because even an Avatar isn't powerful or strong enough to connect to Asti so directly. The turtle is too old and his consciousness too strung out across the cosmos.

However! The mods have told me that should Wan try this, there's a chance we can get some IC info on the 'final battle'. Including (though possibly not limited to) where and how it should be fought.

Aloha turtle goers! Shane here with offerings of plot and hopefully other good things.

So Hawke has had just about enough of the speculations and all the hush hush circulating around the city. Now it's time for action, and more importantly, answers! In his infinite wisdom, he thinks the best way to go about this is to just get in the man's face and confront him to see just whose side he's on. Subtlety is not his forte folks. He never put that many point into that specialization.

But he's not doing this alone! At least, he does't want to do it alone. Backup is always good to have when you're doing something crazy. The log will take place this weekend, August 16-17. On Friday I will put up a forward dated post with Hawke that will get everything started. That way there will be time for so IC discussion before things kick off.

Anyone and everyone is free to get involved! The more the merrier I say!

If anyone has any questions or ideas they want to discuss just post them here. I'll place some headers in the comments.

EDIT:

So after some planning, Evandau will be lured to Anton's Midnight Hotel to act as sort of a neutral ground. Once there the characters will attempt to have a "talk" with the Emperor. Should things devolve into violence or Evandau just leave without discussion, things will be taken to the streets where Septimus will publicly demand he step down from his position. Should he refuse, well, force is always an option.

An IC planning post will take place during the week giving characters a chance to plan and word to spread.

Given recent in-game events, I and a few others have proposed a sort of player plot idea that I wanted to run by anybody else whose characters would have gotten in on the Science happening (I'm perfectly fine with handwaving or backtagging, if one so desires)...or any muns who might want to get in on it now, while the getting's still good.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: to my knowledge, there are two major experiments going on currently.  There is the studying of the virus that's infected the consoles, which has been the amazing work of Mike as seen here, as well as Aya's Network Post offering the resources of both Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprise Science Labs, and Subsequent Open Log in which she was given the idea by Clark and Donatello to create Foreign communicators based on the radio technology already available.  The latter has basically become her newest pet project, and the primary focus of my Plot Idea.

PLOT IDEA: Aya & company will have succeeded in creating a series of small hand-held radio systems that could be used for private communications between people too paranoid to use the Network.  However, to avoid turning this into a total deus ex machina Aya, I'm thinking of putting certain restrictions on it:

(1) Option One: A limited number of systems would be available ONLY to those who are involved in upcoming Hero groups working together against Malicant.

(2) Option Two: Any Individual who wants one will be welcome to come collect, but asked to keep broadcasts limited to only important messages.  This isn't meant to be a total Network Replacement, after all, since the entire Network falling completely silent would be incredibly suspicious to one of Malicant's intelligence.

(3) Option Three: Radios are distributed at leisure to whomever desires one, with no restrictions.  But with a significantly lower guarantee of maintained secrecy and encryption.  In other words, while encryptions might be safe from Malicant, any and all transmissions will be openly viewed/heard by anybody in possession of a Radio.

Of course, with any of these options, there is always the potential for enemy discovery later on.  Depending upon how it's received and how the game-wide plot goes.  I can say that with radios like these, because they're portable...there is the risk that a single person could lose or have theirs taken away.  And if the enemy gets their hands on them...well....

So, basically, before I do the final write-up request to set this in motion, I have two questions.  Who wants in, and which Option do you think would be best?

Though the log threads are still in progress, the strategic and coordinated breach by the Foreigners has weakened Malicant's hold on the Palace. While he continues to rule the Palace and command those possessed within it, there are several important developments which have occurred:
    1. Console functionality has been markedly improved.
The static has cleared entirely from the feeds, leaving the consoles functional on all inputs (text/audio/video) again with only sporadic ghosting images in the backgrounds. However encryptions are still not working at all. Importantly, snippets of code will randomly be accessible for those who have technological skill to dig into them, indicating that the console's basic functions are being partly rewritten. The coding is fluid and adaptive and is best likened to an antibody, the way it adapts to foreign cells. Given that the consoles themselves are bio-mechanical, this may not be entirely a metaphor!

    2. Palace defenses have been weakened.
The barrier that prevents entry to the Palace has been successfully compromised. Those who are able to detect patterns in energy (both scientific and magical) can discover that the shielding actually works on a sort of rotating frequency which will allow characters to chart its cycles and have limited entry access that Malicant can't block out. The "blind spots" in the barrier last for approximately 6 hours and occur once every 9 days. Additionally, the possessed kedan inhabiting the Palace have been reduced in number by over half, bringing their number down to under 50 with a breakdown of about 20 servants and 30 guards left.

If you have any questions, ask them on this post. Please be aware that neither of these developments will be instantly known and must be discovered ICly but consoles are functional again as of this posting.

Landfall | February 12th - 28th

Greetings, chelonauts! We are here with two announcements of upcoming changes to life in Keeliai. The first is about the weather and the second about a landfall! Read on for details!

Weather )

LANDFALL DETAILS )

The Aftermath
Once the dragon is defeated and either killed or spared, the world will set itself to rights. The fog will lift in the outside world, and the bottle's world will become as beautiful as it once was. The temple will be restored, the swamp will disappear and be left instead with a beautiful, warm ocean. There will be bright light and warmth, and the statues will pick themselves up and become people once again, who will interact with the foreigners politely. At this point, characters will be able to choose to leave the bottle and return as they would like.

KEELIAI DURING LANDFALL )

Item Requests
In addition to the strangeness within the bottle, characters may encounter items from their home! This is in line with previous landfalls and, as usual, a request must be submitted and approved. Please note that the deadline for items for this landfall is February 10th, at which time the approved requested items will be compiled and posted in the OCC community for confirmation and plotting purposes.

Do you have any questions about the event? No worries! We have included a handy-dandy subheader within the comments of this post specifically for the asking and answering of such questions. Otherwise, have at the plottings, chelonauts!

Also, if you could please take the time to fill this bit out so we can get a gauge of how everyone plans to deal with being inside the bottle, that would be excellent! This is for our records as well as to facilitate any plotting between members, as doubles as a plotting post for all!

So hey guys, Miles has his first (of many) scheme being set up! He assumes that Malicant is going to go after the baby turtles at some point, and he wants to be ready. idk if this will actually accomplish anything meta plot wise yet. I wanted to get all my IC ducks in a row before approaching the mods, which includes YOU. Yes, you. Well, you if your character is a turtle parent.

Please confer with your co-parents and let me know if Miles can install surveillance devices on the baby turtles without telling them. It's totally okay if the answer is no. I can come up with a whole host of reasons why this would fail, for a specific turtle or just in general, and I'm also game with someone finding one of them and raising the alarm or trying to figure out who it was, etc. etc.

Not sure what said surveillance devices are going to be yet precisely in structure-- that is in the works.

Basically just let me know how this would work out for you and your turtle. ETA: Keep in mind he won't be asking anyone or letting them know, this is strictly an OOC permissions question!
