As of Akito's most recent post, characters are now in possession of a higher-grade, sleeker, more convenient portable comm device!

It's reminiscent of a 2002 Sidekick, very sturdy, water resistant, and much more secure than the old radio frequency. It runs on an OS that Krei made and left as payment for Akito before he poofed back home, and comes in two colours: silver, and black. The charge lasts about a day with medium usage and comes with a charger

Perfect for any Throwback Thursday parties!

It has a higher quality audio function, texting, its own inbox for audio and text messaging, some standard default 8 bit ring tones, and a few hidden, very simple text-based/ASCII games courtesy of a bunch of teenage nerds. There is no colour, camera, or video function. There is a basic ASCII map file!

Some important saved contacts are Anton (for the hotel), Jack and Zatanna (welcome center), the Hamada bros' business, and Akito's business. If any of the other characters who were involved would have added their contact info just let me know.

I'm trying to do it more at the end of the month, a week before the actual radio information post so it's easier to gather the information instead of at the beginning of the month like I did before.If you want to check out the last radio posts have them here, except Stiles Stilinsky is kind of beta-testing as the new radio host. Keep in mind Clark (as Superman) is still in prison, so any contact with Clark Kent will be actually with a drone voice thanks to Jor-El's robot-AI, and not actually him while he's there.

It's time for the Radio Show sign ups!

Same as before, I'll be taking four characters/players to participate. Please read the linked post for the mechanics of how it all works. :D

This month's theme is Steampunk Wild West. Because mechanical horses.

Sign ups will be open until this Saturday the 1st of February. The post itself will go live next Tuesday the 4th, one week from today. If I get more than four sign-ups, I'll be using a random number generator to choose who's in. Please use the form below.

Hello, Turtle Game! Lis here with a mod-approved plot I'd like to run by you all.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope it's just yet another post by Al on the OOC comm to say I'm back from hiatus AND it's time to get the Radio business started, woo-ho.

After reading the things you guys suggested on my last plotting post carefully this is how the radio will end up working:

As of now yes, Clark is being very careful on that front because while this started as an idea to be able to share the news with time it's become obvious they need some kind of means of communicating that isn't being watched by the emperor and the like.

> How will it work OOCly?

Every month starting next week if everything goes alright and I/we have the time, a post will be put on the OOC comm. The comments will be screened and in there you will be able to tell me what has happened in-game that you think should be shared on the news. You'll also have to tell me how they would have gotten the information- the character telling them, anon source, or them snooping around. It's up to you.

> ICly, how will it work?

Everyone seemed to agree a handwaved daily IC thing with an actual post every month/two-weeks, depending on how much was going on in the game. I really liked the suggestion of making a post in the OOC com instead of a network post so it'd be clear people weren't replying to the radio post. So every month or so I'll put up a post with the information I've gotten on the OOC post, so everyone knows what has been discussed on the radio.

> Can every character participate?

Yes of course! Every character can give them information and help out in any way they can. However... as far as work places go they are obviously not unlimited so now it'd be a good time to tell me who actually, really does want to work on the Radio. I don't have a specific cap of people into place but I'd appreciate consulting me before assuming your character can work in the radio, otherwise it's free reign- Clark would pretty much give everyone a chance. We can even handwave it.

The only thing he would actually be picky about would be the actual reporters, sooo if you want a character to work as that it'd probably be better if they actually knew Clark, Lois or someone they trust who could vouch for them.

AND THAT'S PRETTY MUCH MY GENERAL IDEA BOUT IT, any questions?

So for anyone who doesn’t remember/wasn’t here when plotting for this started being a thing, Clark and Lois decided the turtle couldn’t stay without a newspaper (or more like they couldn’t stay long without their favorite jobs), but when faced with the problem of text not automatically getting translated they went for the next best thing:

They started building a radio with help of a certain rich bff who sometimes dresses as a bat! And now it’s already built.

(In this handy little list here I wrote down most of the people who offered their help for building it- some aren’t here anymore, I know, but if you want your character to be involved there will still be a lot of work to do when it comes to building the little radio-devices so poke me and it can be threaded/handwaved how Clark contacted them or viceversa!)

Now let’s start:

Radio? In this place?:

Yes! The mechanics built something maybe not exactly like a radio station but similar enough, because everyone (even the Emperor, Lieuen, Evandau…) has access to the network and they wanted this to be as private for the foreigners as possible. Clark also asked for it to be as nice with the environment as possible, hah.

They also built little radio devices that will be sold very cheaply. Clark would like to give them away but they have to have some profit :( the devices will only tune in to this station for now since it’s the only one in the turtle so they would only have to turn it on and voilà, news.

Ok but how will this work in-game?

Here’s where I need people’s help.
My plan was to make an OOC post with comments screened where people could leave whatever had happened to their character / what would have become common knowledge / useful information / AND IDK EVEN pimping someone’s store! i would put different's threads for each kind of information to keep things more organized.

ICly, the information could be given:
> By the character themselves
> By the character as an ‘anonymous source’, Clark and Lois would respect that
> By Clark/Lois/Other reporters finding out doing some snooping around
> Other options Al has forgotten hah

And then, in an IC post made by Clark (or someone else if they offer). In said post people could react to the news etc, but keep in mind it would be like a radio program so they wouldn’t answer back. It’s not a network post.

What kind of information would be useful?

Any kind of information! From game-changing things they find out about Malicant/the Emperor/The turtle idk to GOSSIP to the weather to suggestions... anything!

Now time for your input, because this won’t work if I just assume everyone is on board. So the questions:

Would you have the radio work some other way? If so, how?: (If you think a radio wouldn’t work in this place this is the place to say so and explain why! Input is appreciated)
How often do you think OOC information recompilation /IC news post should be made? Weekly, monthly, daily?: (it’s ok to have different answers for the IC post and the OOC post)
Would you, the player be willing to share new information there?:
Would your character be interested in this?:
Would your character be interested in working in the radio?: (Most kind of radio-work can be talked over, I’m open to suggestions)
