More radio business!

So for anyone who doesn’t remember/wasn’t here when plotting for this started being a thing, Clark and Lois decided the turtle couldn’t stay without a newspaper (or more like they couldn’t stay long without their favorite jobs), but when faced with the problem of text not automatically getting translated they went for the next best thing:

They started building a radio with help of a certain rich bff who sometimes dresses as a bat! And now it’s already built.

(In this handy little list here I wrote down most of the people who offered their help for building it- some aren’t here anymore, I know, but if you want your character to be involved there will still be a lot of work to do when it comes to building the little radio-devices so poke me and it can be threaded/handwaved how Clark contacted them or viceversa!)

Now let’s start:

Radio? In this place?:

Yes! The mechanics built something maybe not exactly like a radio station but similar enough, because everyone (even the Emperor, Lieuen, Evandau…) has access to the network and they wanted this to be as private for the foreigners as possible. Clark also asked for it to be as nice with the environment as possible, hah.

They also built little radio devices that will be sold very cheaply. Clark would like to give them away but they have to have some profit :( the devices will only tune in to this station for now since it’s the only one in the turtle so they would only have to turn it on and voilà, news.

Ok but how will this work in-game?

Here’s where I need people’s help.
My plan was to make an OOC post with comments screened where people could leave whatever had happened to their character / what would have become common knowledge / useful information / AND IDK EVEN pimping someone’s store! i would put different's threads for each kind of information to keep things more organized.

ICly, the information could be given:
> By the character themselves
> By the character as an ‘anonymous source’, Clark and Lois would respect that
> By Clark/Lois/Other reporters finding out doing some snooping around
> Other options Al has forgotten hah

And then, in an IC post made by Clark (or someone else if they offer). In said post people could react to the news etc, but keep in mind it would be like a radio program so they wouldn’t answer back. It’s not a network post.

What kind of information would be useful?

Any kind of information! From game-changing things they find out about Malicant/the Emperor/The turtle idk to GOSSIP to the weather to suggestions... anything!

Definitely. Bart's mechanically inclined, and, even though he doesn't know how to invent things, he can follow instructions and build things (no, really. He's safe with tools. He's built skate ramps and VR chambers.) Also, he talks fast?

Kind of piggybacking off Marie's suggestion, I feel like ICly characters would listen to it daily but actual posts (either IC or OOC) could probably be made less frequently (weekly or every two weeks).

Scott's old, he likes news and radios and information and stuff.

Totally! At this point in his life, I don't think he'd want to be doing much actual reporting or presenting (unless he was coerced into doing it) but he's totally down with helping make radios and setting up the station. Electronics and tech is what he lives for. :(b

Weekly, monthly, daily?: Monthly would probably be easiest, if too much was going to happen in a month maybe bi-weekly? OOCly, anyway, I'd also agree with just handwaving listening to it daily without making daily posts or whatever.

Would your character be interested in this?: Bucky would be interested in listening, Renly... who the hell even knows, he might buy one on a lark to listen to sometimes, Arthur would definitely support it.
Would your character be interested in working in the radio?: Arthur would definitely be interested in doing whatever Clark might ask him to but he doesn't have a whole lot to volunteer on a regular basis unless he wants a state of the water report or something Atlanteanish. (That said if anything came up for him that he felt should be public, he'd gladly take it to Clark for this.) Bucky would probably take a job putting radios together if it paid. :V

Weekly, monthly, daily?: I like what's been said so far, maybe do it weekly or montly depending on activity load, bi-weekly if there isn't a whole lot going on during a single week. But definitely agree on handwaving the IC broadcasts if they occur daily to avoid clutter. Maybe mark what days things were broadcast in the event of backdating if it were so desired. But it would depend on how crazy you wanted to get.

Would your character be interested in this?: Hazel would definitely be interested in listening and yay for familiar ways of receiving news.

How often do you think OOC information recompilation /IC news post should be made? Weekly, monthly, daily?: OOC information maybe biweekly or monthly depending on how much is going on. IC News posts I think could be handwaved unless something big happens or you have an idea for doing on. I also agree with the idea of marking what days you plan to have the radio posts handwaved for so you can keep track. Weekly or Daily makes the most sense for me.

Would your character be interested in this?: Tea wouldn't, but Kaldur might if he thought it was something that was important enough to reveal to people at large but not urgent enough to need the network, Prussia would because he's an attention-hogger, and Toro would if he had a reason to.

Would your character be interested in working in the radio?: Ah...Prussia would totally be a randomly radio show host which I'm pretty sure is not what Clark is looking for, but he would be all about it. XD

I do lean more toward monthly than bi-weekly, though.

Logistically, I think it's fine. To avoid confusion about whether it's a network thing, you could always do it as an OOC post each month and say that X information is being broadcast over the radio rather than a post on the network comm? It's an option.

Honestly, monthly might be the easiest interval for grouping information and it not being overwhelming or too frequent so as to make it feel like a task rather than happy pretendy fun times.

Would you, the player be willing to share new information there?: Yep! Though the Archive will do her best (and a very good job of it) at flying under the radar, Altliv will certainly have info to share esp regarding public safety etc.

Would your character be interested in this?: Yep! The Archive would listen as much as possible since she likes being in the know, and Altliv thinks it's cute and vintage (and useful for getting information out)!

Would your character be interested in working in the radio?: The Archive will actively avoid being noticed by the radio people, but Altliv will definitely want to work with them to get information out.
