hey! it's time for a cr with me meme! Welcome to the bi-monthly edition of the CR Meme! It's been a busy six months since the Foreigners have returned to Keeliai, and even in that span of time, plenty of things have changed! Here's a good place For players who've joined us since our last meme, these ~bimonthly memes are our opportunity to help establish an idea of what sort of CR you're looking for your characters. Because of this, we do ask that you be as specific as you can when replying to this meme! 'Our characters should team up to moon Tu Yunxu' is more useful than 'omg tag me.' We have two helpful sections titled "Current Status" for a summary of what your character's been up to, and "CR Goals" for the plotting and discussion of gaps in your character's CR spectrum that you would like to fill! We've also got a section for indicating what kinds of CR you're especially looking for, as well as types of threads you're not interested in. CHARACTER: Cain ("Jacob Kane")
CANON: Original ("Reinforced")

CURRENT STATUS: Currently working with the Metalworkers on a more mundane project, but with the Chihulean contingent's arrival, Cain is most likely being told to cool his heels more often than not. Elsewhere around the turtle, he still putters around the Hotel (er, helps out, I mean) and tries to make rounds to less hotspot areas to people-watch and get a feel as everyone reacts to the events around them. He isn't nosy so much as very perceptive and trying to make himself a face people will sort of start to recognize.

CR GOALS: By default, Cain considers all foreigners impossibly closer to him than any kedan due to their shared circumstances and necessity of closing ranks in certain ways. He could use more people to overtly take care of and dad at, and also those who don't catch on to the fact that he's a 2800 immortal and think he's just some punk kid overreaching himself. Despite his automatic attachment to foreigners, it takes some doing to get him to feel safe with anyone, so I'd definitely like to work toward that.

SCENE-DOS: Jack-of-all trades. Cain will take whatever form of interaction he can get; over the network is a good way to establish himself, while in-person is still preferred and awesome. Cain is so ready to meet all the people and dad everyone.
SCENE-DON'TS: To be honest... I just don't know. Negative CR can be fun as long as it's for genuine IC reason! Slice-of-life is cool and adorable! Plotty stuff, give it to me. You know, this should go in the section above, but whatever. Hit me with your best shot. OR WELL, okay, one no-no if you want to keep CR: keep dogs out of it.

I would love some more CR with Cain, especially since they seem to have decided to be civil to each other. Just as long as we keep the Hellhound bit out of everything.

But yeah, Klaus needs to find out he's immortal some day and ask him all of the questions because it would be nice for him to talk to someone who's lived a bajillion + yeas that isn't a vampire or some demi-god alien trying to absorb his brain into his body so he can play Calvin-chess for all eternity.

CHARACTER:Valdis
CANON: OC

CURRENT STATUS: Valdis has been hunting down the people who poisoned Anton with a vengeance and training the kedan at Bakura's Dojo in preparation for the Chihulean's arrival.

CR GOALS: I have succeeded in expanding my CR this last month, which is awesome, but I'd really like to solidify relationships this month. I have neglected my 'Pack' CR though and really want to focus on some of that this month as well. I want to show a bit more of Valdis' light side and contrast it with her darkness a bit more. I'd also like to improve her control over emotions and get her into situations that will help her grow as a person.

SCENE-DOS: As you may have all figured out, I love plot, so plot away because I love being involved in all of that. I also enjoy causing a little mischief, so if you are planning some shenanigans, let me know and I'll see if Valdis would fit in somewhere. I prefer prose, but have developed a liking for the network as well.

SCENE-DON'TS: I really struggle with slice-of-life, it just seems a bit pointless to me if there isn't a purpose behind it. I also want to avoid destroying CR, so if something happens that is questionable on my end when it comes to CR, please let me know so I can edit if possible.

CHARACTER: Erskine Ravel
CANON: Skulduggery Pleasant

CURRENT STATUS: "The Insane Foreigner." IE - Erskine set fire to a building in Central Sector last month thanks to bad brainspace, and is still dealing with the fallout. He's also trying to help the kedan by making it rain via magic. He's been talking about his problems with Raine and trying to get help for nightmares from Dove, so he's slowly working on mending.

Theoretically I'm taking it easier on rigid plotting this month, but I do have a few plans. I'd like for Erskine to start sliding into charity/social work for the kedan, and maybe have a confrontation with some angry kedan at some point. Other than that, I'm rolling with the whole invasion thing and I might have some ideas on that, depending on how it goes.... B)

CR GOALS: New CR would be great! I'm definitely not going to ignore current CR (I have SO MANY THINGS I WANT TO DO WITH YOU GUYS YOU HAVE NO IDEA) but Erskine has been very withdrawn for his entire stay in Keeliai, short of his few network posts. He's not going to be posting to the network anytime soon--too afraid of backlash--but I'd love for him to branch out to some new CR. Positive, negative, I can roll with both :3

SCENE-DOS: I can roll with actionspam or prose equally well, I like to think! I've gotten used to prose but actionspam still flows a little faster. I'm also up for just about anything emotion-wise, although I must confess to a slight preference for friendly/happy/fluffy this month to get Erskine out of his funk. But I won't shy away from negative CR or drama/angst!

Klaus would definitely check in with Ersk from time to time to make sure he's doing okay and if you need someone to scare off angry kedaan he's pretty good at that just by standing around

CHARACTER: Toph Bei Fong
CANON: Avatar: The Last Airbender

CURRENT STATUS: Toph's CR is a mess. She lost all of her canon CR except for Aang, and then a good chunk of new CR that I had cultivated with her. Icly, she's angry and grieving and resentful and not able to deal any of it effectively because she's Toph, and this is not something Toph does easily. She has been approved for a canon update, and I'm hoping this update will become something like a reset for her, giving her the chance to see home and "live" the life she's put on hold for so long with the adopted "family" she's kept waiting.

She'll be updated to the beginning of the Rift, which means she'll be 14-15 and a much stronger and more able metalbender. She'll be fairly honored in her own time as the founder of metalbending and one of the strongest earthbenders alive. She'll also have her own metalbending school with a growing student body. Hopefully she'll have her ease, confidence, and ego back to par.

CR GOALS: I need . . . CR for Toph in general. She has some tendrils of new CR, but nothing really that's locked in yet or grounded (unintentional pun). I want to create new relationships and build on what she's started to create. It's not good for her (or me) to be this ungrounded.

SCENE-DOS: I love things that allow Toph to use her strengths -- not just in metalbending and earthbending, but in shenanigans, in snark, in directness, and in facing stuff head on. I love things that open her up, too, and force her to use the softer emotions that she doesn't show as much. I want relationships that challenge her. (Not in a physical or angry sort of way, but just ones that make her consider the world differently.)

I can do anything from network interactions to face-to-face. I love, love any scenes that have some meat to them -- emotional intensity in particular -- though I know that takes a while to grow and develop.

SCENE-DON'TS: I am admittedly not so awesome with slice-of-life; it's hard for me to maintain any kind of momentum on that kind of thread. I will also write negative CR (and let's be honest, Toph earns it sometimes), but it can (not always) make me a little anxious, so if things go that way, I just request the ability to have good communication with the player to talk it through.

ADDITIONAL: I'll be honest; I've struggled a bit with Toph lately. I think "resetting" her and getting her more involved will help with that. She's an older muse, and she's experienced a lot, so sometimes it's harder to find "new" avenues for her. But I love her character, and I want to keep playing her.

CHARACTER: Lapis Lazuli
CANON: Steven Universe

CURRENT STATUS: This month, Lapis landed on the Turtle. Due to what's going on in her canon at the point I took her from, her mind was absolutely chaotic, and she was 43 different kinds of anxious and fearful and anticipating someone would try to kill her. (And then someone did try, which maybe didn't help her impression.) She's spent most of her month looking for a way off the Turtle via air and sky, as well as keeping an eye out for Jasper. She's had minimal contact with kedan and other Foreigners -- though except for the log above, most of that contact has been positive and enough to make her worry when she heard that the Turtle was in the process of sinking. She still maintains minimal contact and likely lives outside the city, coming in only to use the terminals and to study people, but the idea of the Turtle sinking is definitely taking hold with her. (You squishy types are kind of weird and frightening, but somehow she doesn't want to see you die, either.)

CR GOALS: I want Lapis to continue to encounter people and have predominantly positive experiences. (Though I'm not against anything negative, either.) I want her to build CR and find ways to connect with the other Turtle residents, both kedan and Foreigner.

SCENE-DOS: I still love emotional intensity stuff, but for Lapis, I want some cute. Some fluff. I want her to start getting interested in/attached to people, even if she'll likely always be a little bit skitterish. Dealing with Lapis is always a little bit like dealing with a wild animal who's not quite sure she wants to be tame.
SCENE-DON'TS: Pretty much same as above.

ADDITIONAL: This girl enjoys slapstick. Just saying.

Hi, you don't know me but I want CR with Toph. Well, I want all the CR ever but especially with Toph because she's amazing. Cain would love to talk with her or hang out or do stupid things and he'd be really impressed at how strong she is for someone so young and she could punch him and not feel bad because he heals.

LAPIS... would be a bit different for Cain because he's getting used to nonhumans, but on the other hand he isn't used to magic and it's weird. It's all weird. BUT SOMETHING COULD STILL HAPPEN.

CHARACTER: Klaus Von Reinherz
CANON: Blood Blockade Battlefront

CURRENT STATUS: Klaus has been doing the books and reconciling accounts at the hotel and also just started holding a steady job at a small flowershop in the market district. His main concerns right now are the Chihulean invasion, the turtle sinking, and more recently the cultists have been brought to his attention.

Klaus is Deeply Concerned. He'll generally be keeping an eye on the Chihulean situation.

CR GOALS: Klaus has been in the city for a month so he's got his sea-legs. He's met people. Most kind of know him as that big ginger bloke with the weird teeth. I'd like to get him involved with more plotty events now that he's situated and not like “New world??????? What???? Bees???????????????”
SCENE-DOS: Anything from slice-of-life, player plot, main plot, sparring, knitting, fighting evil by moonlight. Klaus is a bit nosy curious so it's not hard to get him feasibly involved with stuff.
SCENE-DON'TS: IDK this isn't really the kind of game I would have anything requiring a giant NOPE label.

CANON: Tales of Vesperia

CURRENT STATUS: Yuri's been spending most of his time doing daily breakfasts in the Midnight Hotel every morning, doing Brave Vesperia stuff, and getting an official girlfriend.

For those that don't know, Yuri's a pretty amazing cook and he makes breakfast in the Hotel on a regular basis! This is how he earns his keep. So feel free to stop by and grab some homemade cooking!

Also he kind runs this guild called Brave Vesperia. They go around taking commissions for odd jobs from both Foreigner and Kedan alike! Feel free to join to get your character some extra money and CR! Or give them a job! We really need jobs! Lately they've been helping up with the cleanup and rebuilding in Central from the fire and plan to jump in during the invasion if needed.

CR GOALS: Yuri's an action driven guy and he's itching for a reason to fight something. Hopefully this opportunity will present itself in the invasion and give him a chance to be his badass self. Other than that, JOIN BRAVE VESPERIA! OR GIVE US JOBS PLZ.

SCENE-DOS: I'm pretty flexible and will take on just about anything. If you have idea then shoot them at me! It's rare that I'll say no. XD

SCENE-DON'TS: I can't particularly think of anything at the moment but I would like a little less slice of life and more action oriented stuff. Doesn't mean I will say no to every day things, but the more interesting the better!

CURRENT STATUS: Still getting the feel for this place. He's gotten over the whole OMG THIS IS FAKE thing and is more accepting of his situation. As accepting as he can be anyway.

CR GOALS: Just about anything really. Looking for some real CR with people. Hopefully to actually make it so people can tolerate him and just accept him for the way he is.

SCENE-DOS: Meaningful CR! Like, someone actually trying to make friends with him? Insightful conversation? Duel Monsters? STUFF.

SCENE-DON'TS: While I know its funny, I'm starting to get a little tired of the whole trolling thing and looking for something beyond that. Not that I mind it happening, but I'd like there to be other things too. Feel free to yank his chain but not make it the main focus.

CHARACTER: Jack Frost
CANON: Rise of the Guardians

CURRENT STATUS: Still tending the Welcome Center! The power boost from Zatanna's ritual has given him an edge to literally beat the heat, so although he doesn't enjoy the warm weather that much, it's less actually damaging to him and he's gonna appreciate that freedom.

CR GOALS: Mostly, I want him to meet a lot of new people. He's been here almost the longest out of the Foreigners, and while most people technically "meet" him when they come through the Welcome Center as of their arrival, I want him to actually start making new friends with everyone. I'd like for his knowledge of how the city worked before to be somehow helpful (lbr, JACK wants to be somehow helpful) but in a way that isn't too pushy, since mod-character. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

CHARACTER: Yami no Bakura
CANON: Yuugiou

CURRENT STATUS: Running the Jade Dojo, generally being prickly to most people. He has managed to smooth things out with Solomon and Raine, and sort-of Valdis, and picked up a few new favourables like Erskine and Pepper. He's also intrigued that Kaiba's arrived, even though the two haven't really done anything besides snark at one another. I've also kicked off a looooooong running plot regarding his ghosties, so that's going to be making appearances soon.

CR GOALS: For the most part, I'm going to focus on building his existing CR and having him get to know them better, and they to know he won't that be a trainwreck. That said, I'm not objecting to him meeting new people this month, it's just not going to be my focus. He's had lots of negative CR, so I want to build up some of his positive CR side. (Again, not opposed to negative CR, just not actively pursuing it.) Really, I need people who will be aggressively friendly at him (THANK YOU PEPPER YOU'RE DOING GREAT!!), who will show up unannounced and bother him to do things. It's easy to play him as recluse to a degree, so relationships that counteract that are great.

SCENE-DON'TS: Because school is restarting for me in a week, and I (think???) I have a job with Elections, Sept and the first half of Oct are going to be very busy for me. So I'm probably going to limit the amount of conversations that just go into idle chitchats, so I don't get overwhelmed.

Jack let Cain meet and talk to you, he's fascinated by you being an actual spirit elemental thing. All the spirits in his world are either dead people police or people who get stuck and end up warping horribly and shit. HE'S CURIOUS.

Also I'd like to continue in the vein of Cain prodding and poking at Bakura to see what's up with him. :3c He's interested and wants to get closer!

CHARACTER: Raine Sage
CANON: Tales of Symphonia

CURRENT STATUS: She's got Ideas about the consolidation of healing knowledge, both in passing it down and in finding a way to preserve it for the future, both kedan and other Foreigners. The Guild's going to be her priority this month, but she can and will drop everything to help those people she considers family. She may be starting the month a little subdued, though, focused on the probable threat of injuries from the Chihuleans, et cetera.

CR GOALS: Deepening current CR, especially if they're a) close or b) have only talked once or twice. However, it would also be nice to branch out a bit, and I'd... love more sensible female-type friends for Raine, because look at all her dumb boys. Look at them. She loves them, but they hardly provide female friendship. :P

CHARACTER: China Sorrows
CANON: Skulduggery Pleasant

CURRENT STATUS: Lurking in knowledge as she often does, but lately she's descended to involve herself with the city more. The Mystery Games, for instance. She's doing a few more things herself, which draws some attention because of her being her, and anyone who has more than passing familiarity with her will be able to tell she's been a little bit unsettled. Or, at least, as unsettled as she gets.

Please also keep in mind that thing she does, aka passive emotional manipulation magic. I think by this point just about everyone in game is aware of it, but I prefer to be careful with her, since she can be special.

CR GOALS: push her comfort zone I mean. I have a lot more fun with China when she can be unbalanced, even though she prefers to be in charge and knowing things. I'd especially like to follow up if they've interacted before, especially those she's descended to snark with. (That's a good thing. Mostly.) I really do want to branch out a lot with her? Right now, her strongest CR is with her canonmates, and while Skulduggery is probably always going to be her strongest and most complex relationship, she doesn't have a lot of strong CR with people who aren't SP. I want to tickle that faint human impulse of caring at the back of her heart; please send help.

SCENE-DOS: e v e r y t h i n g No, really. My motivation is directly rather than inversely proportional to amount of tags, typically speaking, and I'm up to try anything at least once. And I do love it when threads go unexpected places!
SCENE-DON'TS: Check with me, though, before we go places that might get hella violent? Because consequences. Also, with Raine, for this month at least I'd like to give her like. Half a break. So while I'm not averse to negative CR, if we could give that to China instead, that'd be lovely. :P

CANON: Tales of Vesperia

CURRENT STATUS: He tried a thing and it kinda blew up in his face. So he's mostly sulking recovering and hanging around the healer's guild.

CR GOALS: Duke always needs more people /thumbs up. Stuff with his current cr is always great, drag him out of his hidey-holes! New people are also great because... he was a hermit I am sorry for this dumb.

SCENE-DOS: I still prefer face-to-face with Duke, because he's more likely to hangup and not continue with network! I am okay with all sorts of things re: slice of life, or angst or anything like that.
SCENE-DON'TS: /indicates above re: face to face over network. He also can only do so much slice of life before it feels like "there's his routine, he's sticking with it."

CHARACTER: Sion Astal
CANON: The Legend of the Legendary Heroes

CURRENT STATUS: Settled? Stunned? Waiting for shit to hit the fan? Sion has been... kinda enjoying the fact he's not king in a crappy world for a bit.

CR GOALS: ALL THE THINGS. I am sorry that that is a vague thing. He's more of a tactician anything else re: potential explosions, and he's also a lot stronger than he lets on because everyone he knows is.. kinda a monster...
He might hit up the healer's guild and see about things that can be done for headaches? (and thus it can be found out how much pain he usually is in /thumbs up)
And maybe offer his services as a scribe? not that anyone else would be able to read what he writes, which could be a plus or a minus depending on how you look at it.
SCENE-DOS: Sion's the guy to do almost everything with. His tags will be a little more prose-y than actionspam, usually, because of his canon being mostly novels and so I get lots of ’golden eyes that shine with confidence’ to use for rp
SCENE-DON'TS: ... I have no idea at the moment.

Cain has some curiosities about Duke's healing! And how it reacts with his own healing and stuff. He probably isn't going to bring it up immediately, but I'd like for them to toy with that at some point, yes/no??

Sion would just get a sort of UGH ANOTHER ONE??? reaction to his weirdo clock. People need to just be regular people ffs. Otherwise, hm... Cain stops by the Guild every now and then to see Raine. Maybe bump into Sion there at some point?
