HELLO CHELONAUTS! It's been a while since we've had a game-wide HMD post, so here's the first one of 2016!

How's My Driving?
While each and every character must have an HMD page available, we offer a game-wide HMD once every calendar quarter. This is an opportunity to get together and discuss IC interpretations and portrayals in a respectful, beneficial fashion. In a nutshell, it's a chance to see how we're doing in the grand scheme of things.

There are a few ground rules to cover off before we can start:
  • Participation in the quarterly HMD is 100% optional.
  • Be respectful, anon or not. It's a lot easier to give and receive crit if all parties are making it a discussion of it, rather than an argument.
  • IP logging is off and anonymous commenting is on. You can offer crit signed in if you like, but the option's there.
  • We ask that each concrit provided consist of one positive and one constructive bit of feedback. Bring up something that you like about that player, and in the same comment provide something that you feel they could work on. This is to help round out the feedback and provide a better experience all around.

To make things easier, here's a handy-dandy code box:

In keeping with all good things, here be the event HMD for the ( All Hallowed Event ) that ran from Oct 27th to Nov 2nd. It was my (Li) first plot as an event mod and tbh, the first event I've ran for a game in a little while.

Thus I'd greatly appreciate any feedback you'd be willing to give! Here are some things I thought of, though of course please comment on any aspect at all.

• Was there enough for everyone to do, between the trick or treating side of things and the actual ghosting event and investigative tie-in?
• Was there enough variety of effects to partake in for ghosted characters? Did non-ghosted characters have enough to do?
• Did the midweek OOC announcement for the paint's effects find a balance between surprise and giving people enough time to thread it out? did anyone actually eat the paint Overall, was the pacing of the event good/bad/flying moose?
• How are the lingering Loss effects working out so far? Are they generating CR and IC development?
• Were the different parts of the plot explained adequately and were questions answered in a timely manner?

ANON IS ON and IP LOGGING IS OFF if you'd prefer to leave crit anon OR you can PM this journal, whatever suits you! This HMD is entirely voluntary, though feedback here will help make future events better and smoother.

Thanks in advance!

Three months have already passed since the last HMD? You betcha! This means that it's time to kick off the next quarterly gamewide HMD here in Tu Shanshu! Things are continuing with the new structure implemented last time, so read on for details.

As before, and for anyone who may have missed it, at the end of every mod-run event in Tu Shanshu, we try to toss up an open dialogue post so that the events can be discussed. This is mostly to see if everybody's as happy as possible with the direction the game is going, whether or not the events could be considered a hit or a miss, that sort of thing.

This HMD covers the Sinbrilee Landfall Event from August 10th to September 3rd, and we'd love your feedback!

What are we looking for?
Feedback of all sorts! This was our 'anniversary' event, and it was our goal to make it as fun and enjoyable as possible for everyone involved. Did we succeed? What else might have made this event more enjoyable or inclusive? Did you like what happened? Did the event run too fast, or too slow? Were you able to feel like your character contributed or made a impact on the event, or that an impact was made on them? Would you like to make more of a difference? Has there been too much 'downtime' for the characters, do you have any suggestions to make about future events, etc etc? Did the event run long enough for you? Did you feel that there was enough for all different types of characters to participate in? What are your thoughts on the turtle eggs and our budding little bundles of joy? How'd you find the world building, did it make sense with the established mythos/etc? Is everyone who found an artifact happy with that artifact, did it suit the characters in question? Was everyone okay with the team formations for the turtle eggs?

OBVIOUSLY if you have more comments, questions or concerns than those listed above you can add those as well! This is pretty much just a general list.

What are we looking for?
Feedback of all sorts! Did you like what happened? Did the event run too fast, or too slow? Were you able to feel like your character contributed or made a impact on the event? Would you like to make more of a difference? Has there been too much 'downtime' for the characters, do you have any suggestions to make about future events, etc etc? Did the event run long enough for you? Would you like to see more NPC-driven events, or less? Did you feel that there was enough for combatants and non-combatants alike to participate in?

OBVIOUSLY if you have more comments, questions or concerns than those listed above you can add those as well! This is pretty much just a general list.

Do we already have a focus?
In part, yes. We've identified the following issues with the event and would love to foster discussion on these points:
> Team Structure
There were some players that had multiple characters assigned to a team and others that volunteered and did not make the final teams. This was an oversight on Alex's part and she apologises! That said, do you have any suggestions on how we could avoid such an oversight in the future? Should we limit sign-ups to one character per player?

> Multiple Options
Each team was asked to pick only one option per clue set regardless of their characters' proclivities towards exploring multiple options. This was to reduce administrative workload and tie-in with the reduction of powers. Do you have any suggestions as to how we could make taking multiple options feasible for any future event structured in this way?

Note: Alex here! One option considered and taken off the table would be preparing all of the possible branches off the options and clues before the event starts. This is because I found creating the sets during the event really allowed me to adapt the scenarios to suit the actions of each team in a really organic fashion. In summary, it let the characters further influence the event rather than being stuck on rails (see: swizard). I'd really prefer to find a solution that allowed mid-event creation of the clues without sacrificing the multiple options, tbqh.

> Outcomes
The pre-event survey concluded that players were okay with getting dead-ends for their characters actions and so this was included. Two teams had a major impact on the health of the turtle and a variety had other impacts that lessened Malicant's grip on Keeliai. Do you think we should have included more largescale impacts? Less? More impacts in general? More complete dead ends?

We'd like to emphasize that any and all feedback is welcomed and encouraged! These are merely some areas that we've identified as concerns from our standpoint and would like to hear your thoughts on.

Do we have a form?
Yes, in fact! This time, we're offering a quick text form to help provide some structure to the feedback received. This form addresses some of the concerns we noted on a mod level and tries to give as much freedom as possible to anyone that chooses to use it. Please note that you do NOT have to use this form! It's provided as an option only. :3

Please remember, ANON IS ON for this and IP LOGGING IS OFF so if you have anything you'd like to say but maybe you're more comfortable putting it forth anon that is a-okay! You can also feel free to PM us at this journal, or to toss a private plurk at either of the mod accounts (those being [plurk.com profile] vonnerdyce or [plurk.com profile] reignsdown) if that suits your fancy. Any and all comments are welcome, and though participation in this meme isn't required it's definitely encouraged if you're up for it.

Thanks again, guys, and happy turtling!

OKAY SO. Hello Chelonauts!

Guess what? Tu Shanshu has passed the six month mark! That means that there are some changes we're thinking about making, as mods and in relation to players, that we wanted to run by you guys.

These changes are mainly about streamlining the game and, frankly, making modding such a wonderful and well-sized playerbase easier on the two mods. Due to a number of factors, including the nature of the metaplot and the background administration, adding a third mod is not under consideration. We're basically considering some changes and wanted to get feedback on them and some other topics before we implemented anything.

Just to be clear, any and all changes that we decide on will be made on a henceforth basis! For example, if we up the app standards, that will not be retroactively applied to currently accepted characters.

First of all...

Expand...can I have a volunteer from the audience my next magic trick? )

And here's a handy-dandy code for organising feedback, if you'd like to use it!

As with all feedback opportunities, ANON IS ON for this and IP LOGGING IS OFF so if you have anything you'd like to say but maybe you're more comfortable putting it forth anon that is a-okay! You can also drop by the Mod HMD if you'd prefer!
