How's My Driving | February 2016
HELLO CHELONAUTS! It's been a while since we've had a game-wide HMD post, so here's the first one of 2016!
How's My Driving?
While each and every character must have an HMD page available, we offer a game-wide HMD once every calendar quarter. This is an opportunity to get together and discuss IC interpretations and portrayals in a respectful, beneficial fashion. In a nutshell, it's a chance to see how we're doing in the grand scheme of things.

There are a few ground rules to cover off before we can start:
- Participation in the quarterly HMD is 100% optional.
- Be respectful, anon or not. It's a lot easier to give and receive crit if all parties are making it a discussion of it, rather than an argument.
- IP logging is off and anonymous commenting is on. You can offer crit signed in if you like, but the option's there.
- We ask that each concrit provided consist of one positive and one constructive bit of feedback. Bring up something that you like about that player, and in the same comment provide something that you feel they could work on. This is to help round out the feedback and provide a better experience all around.
To make things easier, here's a handy-dandy code box:
MODS
SPECIAL NOTE! We are also looking for feedback specifically on the Tavimbi Landfall, now that characters have had a month to interact with that setting. Any suggestions on how we can improve, anything in particular you like/don't like, or suggestions on things you'd like to see happening going forward, are all appreciated!
If it's just one mod answering, we'll put our name in the subject line when we respond, so you know who's replying (but rest assured, all three of us are reading everything!) If it's something that needs input from all of us, we'll drop a quick note to let you know we're getting you the answers but we may need a bit of time to talk about it (because TIMEZONES).
Thanks!

Character Name: Yami no Bakura
Canon: Yuugiou
User Name:
Focus: Other than making some Very Bad Personal Decisions, he's been on pretty even keel lately. He's got the ghosties back, at the price of Zorc once more hanging around, but overall he's been much happier since. Mostly I've been keeping him on a low profile and not involved in any plots because mod, but I'm always open for character things with him.
Character Name: River Tam
Canon: Firefly
User Name:
Focus: I worry about her voice all the time. I find it really hard to balance her method of speech between brilliant and not making her TOO childlike... that sort of wander-y quality is really hard to portray in text. So definitely feedback on that would be appreciated. I haven't done too much with her abilities yet because even with the permissions post, I'm always concerned about overstepping. But ICly, she's super happy that her brother is here!! ♥

Character Name: Yuri Lowell
Canon: Tales of Vesperia
User Name:
Focus: For a few months I was struggling with him, but I think I'm doing better now? Either way, sometimes I feel like I'm not doing him justice. Some days and in some situations, I have a hard time finding his voice and I'm afraid he's OOC. Sometimes I also feel like he's too blah? I dunno. Thoughts?

Character Name: Duke Pantarei

User Name:
Focus: I know I have a massive problem getting him out there, so. IDK anything but that?
Character Name: Sion Astal
Canon: The Legend of the Legendary Heroes
User Name:
Focus: I flip-flop between just "oh he's so much fun" and "i am fucking everything up". Probably keeping him him while allowing him to grow in ways that his canon won't allow for, due to. setting problems.

Character Name: Pepper Potts
Canon: Iron Man: Armored Adventures
User Name:
Focus: I worry I sometimes inject too much of myself into how Pepper thinks, and I've been trying to be careful especially recently to get her involved in things she totally would, even if I wouldn't since I'm terribly conflict averse. Soon to be a year in-game, I'm also working on a balance of her canon self and the growth she's had here, hopefully doing an okay job.

Character Name: Tony Stark
Canon: Armored Adventures
User Name:
Focus: I always worry if I'm striking the right balance and pace with his character development - he's matured a lot in game, and I try to reflect that in having him making better decisions, being more aware of how his actions affect others, and being less absorbed in his own problems. But at the same time, I want to keep his core personality intact, and approach his development with the awareness that going from spoiled teen to responsible adult is a long process that takes more than just a couple years of personal growth.
I don't want him to become boring and predictable as he matures, so I want to give him realistic chances to keep making mistakes, and leave room for negative CR.
On the other hand, I hope I'm not getting overeager with that and making him too obnoxious.
TL;DR: is his development realistic? Is he still fun to play off of, or does he veer into "too boring" or "too grating"?
(I realize that voice and ICness can only really be addressed by people familiar with the canon, but if you have any crit about that I'd love to hear it!)
You can also leave crit on my personal hmd here. Anon on/IP off, comments are screened by default but I'll make anything public if requested.
