Right then! Recent events have finally given Temeraire the kick in the tail he needed to begin organizing what he calls the Keeliai Aerial Corps, which in actuality is more like a ragtag band of volunteer fliers whose names he and Iskierka have in case it ever comes to an all-out physical battle. Not only are they looking for crewmembers, they're also looking to train with people who are capable of flying independently so they're used to maneuvering around each other in a combat situation.

And, you know, you'll get a shiny badge. Probably. So there's that.

If you think your characters might be interested, please proceed below the cut!

Hello, Turtle Game! Lis here with a mod-approved plot I'd like to run by you all.

ExpandThe Stilinski Comedy Hour, sponsored by Texaco! )

Please sign up here. For this first time around, I'll take 4 players. Which characters you bring to the table is up to you. If I get more than 4 players interested, I'll use a RNG to pick. Next month, if all goes well, I'll get more people in.

If you sign up for this event, you're committing to a tagging order and a promise not to drop the post. I'll be poking people to get tags out of them, so I'll need some form of OOC contact as well.

EDIT: For the record, my plurk is [plurk.com profile] lisandraface and I'll be adding you for ease of communication.

So you know those old kedan biddies who sit on the corner and won't shut up about the latest issue of their favourite gossip column? No?

Well you're about to. /trollface.jpg

Stocking decides that shit needs stirring things are too dull around the turtle and people would really benefit from some entertainment, thus is starting a gossip column and terribly naming it. Basically I'll be skimming the posts made every two weeks and converting their content into twisty little nuggets that she intends to rile everyone up.

All the details are located in her journal AT THIS POST and since this will be an ongoing plot there is also an opt-out option.

Doc here, announcing that both Qilby ([personal profile] traitre) and I are back from NYCC. And although I had a blast, I also vastly overestimated how much downtime I'd have, so this plot post did not go up on Saturday as I'd originally predicted.

But I'm back now and ready to talk about this fun thing I'm pretty excited about! And I hope everyone else will be excited about it too! So, without further ado, I introduce this little player-run mission board that I'm going to be handling in the months to come…

Expanda big plotty faq thing )

So that's how it's going to be. This month, however, is going to be a little bit bigger -- I'll be kicking off this whole thing with a mini-plot and a bang! As a result of Fran and Balthier's canoodling with the local gangs, a bit of a war is going to break out between two of the larger gangs operating out of the Earth and Metal Sectors: the Shailo and the Ur, respectively.

Since Evandau and the police force are going to be busy dispelling the larger conflicts, it'll be a good opportunity for a trial by fire through the operation Qilby's only just begun to set up. Those boys at the turtle police are going to need all the help they can get.

A network post and kickoff log will go up on October 19th, and the conflicts will last through the 22nd before being successfully quelled by the police and proactive Foreigners. Anyone who has characters living in the Earth and Metal Sectors and who decide not to participate in the event will notice an obvious effect in the shadier parts of either area, but otherwise should not need to experience anything their players don't wish them to. Similarly, people who want their characters to get in on gang war action but don't want to do it through this mission board are free to do so (but consider plotting with characters who are, at least!)

Again, feel free to refer to the completed list of missions here, and start signing up early! The rest of this post may be used for plotting, looking for characters to take up missions with, and any questions you may have.

Hey there, turtle-folks! Who wants homework?

In the wake of Malicant's last attempt to disturb and possibly destroy the peace, Tony has decided that they might need to come up with a way to give Asti a break. And, no, this has nothing to do with his personal pride being offended at depending on a giant turtle for life-sustaining energy, why would anyone think that?

Anyway, he's come up with a pretty straight-forward idea: build an alternate power source. So he's going with that. Starting September 6th Tony will be putting materials toward building a reactor-powered generator to run one of the kedan owned buildings in the Metal district. Anyone he has spoken to regarding technology will most likely be asked to help with this project either by contributing materials, design input, or manpower in some way. Actual construction will ICly be done by September 11th, when he'll try to see if the generator can provide an alternate source of power to the test site.

Details, details...

Since this is going to be a somewhat large-scale test, money and resources are objects. That's where you come in. Any characters generous enough to offer a volunteer hand will have his thanks (and a potential IOU regarding any tech and/or favors they want to redeem), and should the project prove successful, then the potential power source will be open for installation in other parts of Keeliai on request. It's a community-focused plan intended to boost their resources for future improvements and provide a backup power source in the event Asti can't support them. If all else fails, they can call Tony Stark for a free cable installation favor of their choice.

If you want to have a character participate in the building, let me know what character it is and what they'd be bringing to the project. This could also be a good way for characters to have an excuse to work with each other if anyone wanted an ice breaker or something. And if you think there would be negative responses to Tony pulling something like this, tell me that too.

Also, please give me your suggestions and ideas, either for the generator project/future use itself or for any ooc suggestions you have. I am starting out small and I welcome the input! Seriously, how can I make this better?

So Bruce's independent investigation is going to yield some extremely interesting results. He's going to be attempting to discern if he can observe the metaphysical transfer of energy (i.e. the thing responsible for the depowering) at the nuclear level, and the answer is yes, he can. By using some of the salvaged satellite tech. The result will be seeing that the ethereal cords connecting Tu Vishan to its residents are very weak and sluggish.

He'll have the subsequent idea to convert the satellite tech into a power source to feed into the cords. Although he'll initially attempt to heal / repair the turtle with this energy, it's far too little to accomplish anything with that. The real effect will be that he'll discover in the process of attempting to give it to Tu Vishan that trying to 'deliver' it via a person will extremely temporarily give them their powers back. It's basically like an electrical current, where he's trying to get energy from point A (satellite tech) to point C (Tu Vishan) by going through point B (a player character), and on the way there, it powers point B before petering out before it can reach point C. if this makes any sense at all

Ultimately, someone from his research team will speak to Evandau about distributing it to the teams in the form of a portable energy source unit. The teams can then have a brief moment of powers being returned near the end of the clueventure plot. Specifically they will receive this starting July 5th, and the clue set will announce when they receive the equipment. It will continue for five days, and will provide each team with two units, and each charge will cause repowering for a duration of 30 seconds for one person, with a mandatory recharge time in between of 5 - 10 minutes. The specific details may be revised in the future.

Basically right now I am looking for characters that would be interested in helping research this. Magical characters are especially needed, but science based or investigative would be fine, too. Obviously, this has to be characters that are not on a team. Aside from aiding in the magic/science research, characters will also be needed to help deliver the units to the teams, wherever they may be (and some of them are remote!).

At some point I'll have Bruce make a network post asking for volunteers and everyone can ICly sign up, then. So far we have Kara and Arthur on this, but I'd like to get a head count before it moves forward in game so that the OOC logistical planning is easier.

Your local pinko fantasy communist, Amon, has taken it upon himself to start taking on students in the ancient technique of ~CHI BLOCKING~ Which is in essence a discipline of martial arts (shrouded in mystery - like you do) that emphasises on attacking a persons' line of chi (read: energy, life force, applied phlebotinum, et al.) Pressure points. You'll be learning how to take jabs at a person's pressure points to temporally sever voluntary muscular function in a localized region that usually effects an entire limb or joint. So just go with it. The bulk of these lessons would be Amon teaching those without any outstanding abilities to defend themselves through supervised training.

As per Jack's request to the Emperor during the recent audience, Eshai has graciously lifted the rationing restrictions on Foreigners aged 12 and younger. Basically they won't have to use rationing cards any longer when buying things.

Jack won't be making any announcement about this so characters are welcome to comment on the change when they go to get their next weekly allotment or whatever. :D

ETA: If Foreigners are caught abusing this (ie; taking lots of food and handing it out) Eshai will be pissed and throw them in jail. SO JUST A HEADS UP.

GREETINGS TURTLETOPIANS.

As per this discussion with the Emperor, Raylan is putting together a temporary task force to try and keep the Foreign population out of the breached areas of the turtle shell. And as per the existing plot, this effort will be met with mixed success, which can be partially dictated by YOU, THE PLAYER.

Noted in the linked thread are the IC benefits - two weeks off from regular work and 100 juulan in monetary compensation. Those who participate may be seen in a slightly more favorable light by The Powers That Be.

Organization

How this works will largely depend on the number of PCs who get involved. In terms of organization, Raylan will divide participants into three eight-hour shifts. To limit the potential for anyone to double-cross or try to use their place on the task force to help others into the sewers, characters will NOT be given the name of their shift partner or their shift's patrol route until they arrive that day. In other words, characters will know what time they are patrolling, but until they arrive at 'headquarters' for the beginning of that shift, they will not know a) where or b) with whom. He will also try to sort people based on whatever listed skills they present so that each pair is roughly equal in terms of its strength. For example, he might place Superman with a baseline human, and put two mutants of average power together, in order to ensure that each pair can execute their duties no matter who they come up against.

OOCLY, this gives a great deal of freedom to establish new CR and cross-canon relationships. If Raylan has noticed a given pair talking a lot on the network, or sees two volunteers being buddy-buddy off duty, he'll split them up to try and make sure nothing conspiratorial can take place.

Please note that Raylan will ONLY be aware of the abilities of your character if said character informed him of them upon signup, or if your character has had reasonable exposure relating to said abilities via the network. The number of PCs will be filled out by NPC kedan as necessary.

Possible Plot Developments

-Arrests

The mods have given permission for the majority of arrests made to be made by the task force. In other words, you can have hot Foreigner-on-Foreigner action a patrolling pair see and arrest any of the listed trespassers in the plot post (provided you coordinate the arrest with the corresponding players). There can be arrests in excess of those listed in the original plot post, but those arrests WILL NOT RECIEVE THE INFORMATION OR ITEMS LISTED FOR THE ORIGINAL GROUPS. They will be handed over to the palace and incarcerated until the Emperor or someone on the inside sees fit to let them go. The potential here for negative CR is unavoidable, but could also foment a lot of interesting political and emotional divides amongst the characters populating the turtle.

-Double-Crosses

Despite the precautions Raylan is taking, it is of course possible for your character or characters to use their place on the task force to try to help others get through into the sewers. This can be as simple as looking the other way when a Foreigner goes by or as elaborate as creating a diversion so no one is watching a given area at a given time. It's also possible for double-crossers to be caught - any who are will be taken to the palace by Raylan himself and handed over personally to the prison guards. He doesn't like being lied to. Neither do the kedan and their leaders. According to the mods, anyone caught trying to help Foreigners get into the sewers will be looked upon with distrust from NPCs.

Consequences

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL IC ACTIONS WILL HAVE IC CONSEQUENCES. If you do not want your character to be distrusted by some, don't have them arrest fellow foreigners. If you don't want them to spend time in the palace prisons, arrange a way for them to avoid being caught in a double-cross. This is an opportunity for a lot of interesting CR developments, but remember to think through the potential complications before deciding if you want to jump in.

OKAY SO this is sort of a spontaneous plot decision, but we find ourselves again in the position of Needing Volunteers For Plot Purposes!

Essentially, we're looking for five or six characters at max to stumble upon the Emperor's treasure room and make off with a few important artefacts during the chaos and general din of the Turtledive Zombie Extravaganza.

How is this going to happen, you say? Well, the barriers that generally keep people out of certain rooms are going to fail, and people are going to find that when they walk through doors, they end up being accidentally transported to other areas of the palace! So, in this merry little accident, a group of characters at the palace are going to miraculously find themselves part of a Temporary Team-Up that (hopefully? theoretically?) leads to the treasure room!

There are also options to stop off at an armoury, so this is also possible for people who are interested less in treasure and more in super cool weapons or armour.

The ultimate goal of this plot is to get powerful magical artefacts that characters have left behind - such as the Helmet of Fate and the One Ring - back into the hands of the general population for later plotting purposes.

Here is your handy-dandy form to fill out a la volunteering! We will be choosing people via RNG within 48 hours, so please fill this out ASAP if you're interested.

PLEASE NOTE: Chosen volunteers are the only people who will have access to the treasure rooms/armouries, so please don't have your character wander into these areas without pre-approved permission!

PLOT WITH US

So, you've seen our garden variety CR with me meme, this here is a similar thing but with a bit of a twist.

This time, it's plotting with the mods themselves to impact/influence the actual overarching game plot!

Here's the deal. Give us some ideas for what you might like to see your character involved with or doing, and we'll try to integrate it into the overall meta plot on the happen here! Although these logs are closed to the characters involved, it might be a good idea to read them to get an idea of where the plot of Tu Shanshu might be going (keep in mind though, OOC=/=IC and your characters won't know any of this unless told by one of those four people).

This is a hugely experimental thing and we actually aren't even sure if it'll take off or if people will be interested, so please bear with us and any mistakes we might make. We have an incredible cast of extremely interesting and diverse characters here, and our standard MO has been to involve a few characters at a time in the plot as it comes up, so obviously not everyone will have a place at the plot all at once, though we try extremely hard to keep things fair and character-appropriate as the opportunity arises to involve someone.

An example of things we've done so far:

●Favrielle and Yue were brought onstage and threatened with execution by the leader of the Black Kirin
●We had Natasha be a mole in the Kedan gang war so that she could find out about the attempt to cripple the turtle
●Annabeth, the Doctor, Hellboy and Zatanna are currently being given world information that will be brought up/used at their discretion by an NPC.

Please note: these are by no means the only 'sorts' of things that can happen in the game. If you play a reporter character, maybe you could ask to have them overhear something interesting but relevant to the plot, etc. Roles can be either smaller or larger depending on circumstance. Another thing to note: we usually only try to involve one player at a time, so if you play more than one character you might have to pick a preferred one to be involved in something, because that keeps it a little more fair to all of our players across the board and invites a larger and more broad-spectrum 'player' involvement.

Questions, comments, concerns?

And here's a handy form to fill out for any potential character involvement:

Just a head's up - the Mausoleum is filled with human bodies, not kedan. This information was supposed to go into the write-up for the landfall event, and somehow I just completely managed to... not actually include it. Because I'm a genius, a genius is me.

BUT THERE YOU HAVE IT. Better late than never, right?

I guess this is a good place to also have a 'do you have any other questions about what's going on during Landfall' type post, if anyone has anything they'd like to ask.
