Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle! But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
- Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
- Where There's A Will, There's A...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what starts out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! It's just appeared in front of you. Though, it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
- SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE!
The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market. Maybe you haven't been hired by them at all, but are using their name for your own goals... as long as no one discovers the lie!
- Wait... you want my what now?!
The kedan are a curious folk, and the Foreigners are entertainment in conveniently arriving packages, especially when they come along with unique items that the kedan might not have seen before. Maybe it's your cellphone... or maybe it's your knickers! How badly do you want to keep your stuff from some overeager native shapeshifters who want to buy, bribe, or burglarize it right off your person?
- Sea prunes, get your sea prunes right here!
Life in Keeliai can take a little getting used to: the chickens have scales, the cows have feathers, and the fruits come in more colour and pattern combinations than your average tye-dye shirt. Not to mention that meal you just ordered from the food vendor? Has arrived on the plate, and you're pretty sure you just saw it move.
- Everybody needs a little darkness...
The Great Enemy may have been defeated over two years ago, and people are even willing to speak Malicant's name aloud now, but there remains a taint in the city never fully purged. Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...
- Illicit substances, anyone?
Every city has its vices, and Keeliai is no different. Perhaps you actively sought it out, or perhaps an opportunistic dealer saw you as a potential customer needing a free sample, but you're now in possession of a packet of Lucid, an emotion-enhancing drug. Interested in finding out what happens when you crush that colourful crystal and ingest it?
- Incoming!
Tu Vishan's latest landfall stop has brought an unwelcome problem to its residents: enormous, toothy creatures who look more like pterosaurs than most people are comfortable with! With a twenty-foot wingspan, these aren't exactly harmless local wildlife, and they have a nasty habit of swooping down on targets both Foreigner and kedan! How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??
- WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the uncontrollable urge to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Anything goes!

I've come to talk with you again
[Connal throws a look behind him just in time to see the lizard burst into flame. Certainly not what Connal expects but he's not about to voice a complaint.
While the thing reels in pain Connal sets the children onto the street, giving them a small push in the other direction.]
Go! Get inside and stay safe!
[The children nod and run, throwing one last insult at the creature before they do. Good kids. Meanwhile Connal turns to face the still reeling creature, drawing his warhammer and ethereal sword.
...and then he sees her.]
...Mirath?
airguitar solo
Oh. Hey. Yep, she knows you alright.]
By the gods... Connal?
[Any further conversation is cut short by the lizard screeching and charging her way.]
DRUMS
While the lizard beast charges towards her, Connal charges to meet it. He all but lunges at the thing to drive the magic sword into its side and hammer its ribs with the warhammer. Anything to distract just long enough for her to act. At least he can do something while it's on the ground.]
no subject
Lucky for them both, she's fought with him enough before to fall back into a familiar thread. She's learned a few new tricks since they parted ways, but Mirath is sure he has as well.
Thus when he lashes out with his weaponry, she seizes the chance to focus her magic and shift the moonbeam from where it last struck to where the creature is now. Another blast of radiant fire strikes down, carefully missing Connal as best she can.]
no subject
He hangs from the creature's side as his sword remains lodged in its flesh. After finding the sword in the Underdark's depths he's grown attached to it. The last thing he wants is for some strange flying monster to carry it off. Unfortunately the big beast doesn't seem keen on taking passengers.
Almost twenty feet in the air it screeches and thrashes as it tries to dislodge the pest. For his part Connal just holds on for dear life, occasionally giving it a solid strike with his warhammer when he can. It shrieks again, and with a final thrash the lizard bucks Connal off throwing him to the ground.
Connal lands on his back with a loud thud while the creature screeches in triumph and begins its wobbly escape. Connal just groans.]
Really need a bow...
no subject
Hey, sorry. I was too late to catch you...
[And she feels terrible for it.]
Are you alright? I can heal you if you need it.
[Mirath is just tearing through the spells today.]
no subject
No. I mean, yeah. Yeah I'm okay.
[Give him a moment he's still blown away by seeing her again.]
I think um, I think I've got a potion.
[Though he might have fallen on it. He feels something wet and he really hope that it's not blood.
Just going to slowly try to sit up now and try not to gawk at her. Too bad he's failing on that last part.]
It's really you...
no subject
[A small smile creeps onto her face as she speaks and at those last few words, she grins.]
Hello Connal. Long time, no see.
[Without another word, Mirath reaches out to gently brush her fingers through his hair near his temple. There's a warm glow with the touch and a rush of healing energy goes his way.]
no subject
A moment later he opens his eyes again and looks at her with a smile.]
Hi Mirath. I missed you.
[He's not sure how long he was gone but it feels like forever.]
Glad that you're okay.
[Sure he knows she can take care of herself, but he still worries anyway.]
no subject
Still, eventually she lets her hand fall and steps back so he can get up properly. If he does, the vines will pull back into the ground they sprang from like they were never there at all.]
You as well. The last I heard you'd come across some Drow. The path was long cold by the time I found out.
[She was away too long.]
no subject
When she steps back Connal rises to his feet. He probably looked a little silly just sitting in the street like that.]
I was on the run from Restav's goons when I ran into them. They caught me. Then they took me prisoner, and then they enslaved me. Pretty sure there were going to sacrifice me and the other prisoners too.
[Funny, that all feels so long ago.]
We escaped though. My friends and I have been trying to escape the Underdark since. A lot has happened.
[The thought of a giant two-headed monster with tentacles comes to mind. A shudder runs down his spine.]
no subject
She glances around, once again wary of their surroundings.]
We've got a lot to talk about. First though, were there more of that whatever it was that was after you?
[Are we chitchatting in the middle of a potential battlefield, friend?]
no subject
When I was running I only saw the one, but better safe than sorry. Maybe we find a safe place inside.
[As much as he wants to talk more with her it would be better to do it in a place they both know is safe. Like something with a ceiling and walls that keep out flying lizards.]
no subject
[But she's not entirely sure where to go. Mirath looks up at him, hopeful that he's got something in mind.]
I admit though, I don't know this part of town at all. I came this way because of the screeching lizard. Lucky for me I found you along with it.
no subject
[Connal looks around again. Cities aren't really his
favored terrainexpertise but finding a building to hide in shouldn't be too hard.]To be honest, I wasn't paying attention to where I was running.
[He gives a sheepish smile and shrugs.]
So uh, I guess we make this up as we go? Come on.
[Time for another adventure! This time Conall starts heading the way he saw Mirath come.]
no subject
[Mirath grins in return and falls into place beside him, still keeping an eye out for the creature but glad to have her buddy back at her side. She can't help but glance his way from time to time, even if she tries to hide it.]
You know, you've grown since we last met.
no subject
I have?
[Connal looks at himself as if to check that he is indeed taller.]
The others already tease me enough about my height as is.
no subject
I meant in here...
[And she pokes him gentle in the chest, right over his heart.]
And up here.
[Her hand moves to brush again through his hair.]
Though, I don't recall having to reach up quite so much so you might be onto something...
no subject
Must be all the mushrooms I've been eating.
[He smiles at her, still red in the cheeks.]
You've grown too I think. You're still my friend that I've always know, but now you're a lot more than that.
no subject
[It's her turn to blush. Just what does he mean by that. There's a few ways to take that statement and all of them have her embarrassed. Mirath lets her hair fall to cover her face and glancing to the street, away from him.]
I guess I have. I've had my own share of adventure since we said our farewells.
[Her time away was never meant to be so long.]
no subject
It takes a moment before he trusts his mouth again.]
Just wish we got to have some better farewells.
[Or none at all really.]
Where uh, where did you go? What did you do?
[He much rather hear of her adventures than talk about any of his.]
no subject
[And she found out her knack for animals and nature went further than the forest she'd spent her years in.]
By the time I got back you were long gone, so I went looking for you.
[But like she said earlier, the trail was cold.]
Everywhere I went, more people appeared that needed help. Before I knew it I'd been gone for months and still people asked for aid. I found myself in good company though; a group of allies who promised to help me in exchange for me helping them.
no subject
Wish I had been there. Wish I had never left.
[But then, what about his friends? This all feels so complicated.]
That's the thing isn't it? People need help and we help them. Guess that's what got me where I am.
[He falls behind slightly, never taking his eyes off her.]
Which...which is why I think I have to go back to the Underdark. Things are bad there. People need help. Which means I need to help them or I'll never forgive myself.
[And the babbling has began.]
But I don't want to go, because I just found you again and all I want to do is stay with you. Except I just can't leave everyone behind but that means I'm leaving you. Either way I hate myself for it and I'm not sure what I'm even doing anymore...
[Please stop him.]
no subject
A few seconds pass before she pulls back enough to look up at him.]
You've got to go back to them. That's something we both know.
[Mirath smiles, a cloud of feelings in her but determination to do what's right.]
no subject
You're right. I know you're right.
[His eyes meet hers and he smiles in return.]
But I've got to come back to you too.
