Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...

How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??

It's...it's not hand holding really. I'm the only one who can't see in the dark. They're just making sure I don't fall in a pit or down a hole.

[Her elven blood grants her darkvision, but Connal is human. It's strange for her to consider what he might see compared to her.]

I helped one of the kedan with their garden recently. They've been letting me stay in a spare room out the back since. We can head there.

[This shouldn't bother him. Actually it doesn't bother him. Connal suddenly feels a lot of things in a short amount of time. He knows he shouldn't and it's nothing and he's overthinking but...well she's never taken him to her room before.]

In the Underdark I saw a duergar city. This place is so much better compared to that.

[Seriously, the place she's been staying at has a pretty epic garden happening out front. And out the back. Mirath can't help herself sometimes.]
An Underdark duergar city... sounds... miserable, honestly. If what I've heard about them is true. Neverwinter was interesting, but crowded.

[He smiles. Connal just wants to hear all her stories. Where she's been. What she's done.]

[At least she hopes he wasn't. They round a corner and a small wood house with an elaborate garden comes into view. There's really no missing it.]

[When he sees the garden his eyes widen. Connal mouths a silent 'wow' as he looks on all the plant life. Mirath's really been hard at work here. It makes him smile even more.]

Holt took me as far as Neverwinter, but from there I was on my own. He had his own things to deal with and finally decided it was time to let me go out on my own.
[Her smile is still there, but it's a little forced this time around. That Gnome was more family to her than anyone before.]
I couldn't go with him anyway.
[From her bag, she pulls out a key and goes about letting them into a small room around the back, detached from the main household. It's more a shed that's been turned into a spare room.]
And, this is home. For the moment at least.

[That gnome put the fear of the gods into Connal when he saw him with his daughter. Something must have really changed while he was gone. He places his hand over hers and gives it a reassuring squeeze before letting go again.
Connal might not be a people person, but he knows her better than anyone else. He knows what Holt means to her.]
This looks like a cozy place. Especially like the garden.
[At the moment he doesn't bother finding a place to sit and stays close to Mirath.]

[It's still taking some getting used to. She lets his arm go and heads inside, taking a seat on the bed and motioning to the lone chair for him. The room is really nothing fancy. A small makeshift bed, a small table shelf and a single chair. Mirath's taken it on herself to bring in a jar with a plant in it.]
I need to move on from here soon. The agreement was never long term and as you can see, the garden is more than established.
[She just hasn't worked out what comes next.]

[He got comfortable with her being around almost all the time. A lot of that changed when he went on the run.
Connal takes a seat on the chair. When he does he lets out a breath that he doesn't remember holding. Since the fight in the street his entire body has been keyed up for action. Now he slowly releases all the pent up energy.]
Maybe I can help you find something. This city is big. We can explore it together.

[He thought that he might find the others here. They were all in the same place so it made sense to him they should be here too.]

I've heard whispers of a hotel, foreigner owned and run. Apparently a lot of... arrivals, head that way. I'm yet to check it out for myself.
[Mirath has been putting it off a little. She's doing alright with people, but nerves still kick in from time to time.]
