hey! it's time for a cr with me meme! Welcome to the newest edition of the CR Meme! For players who've joined us since our last meme, these ~bimonthly extremely sporadic memes are our opportunity to help establish an idea of what sort of CR you're interested in for your characters in coming months. Because of this, we do ask that you be as specific as you can when replying to this meme! 'Our characters should team up to moon Tu Yunxu' is more useful than 'omg tag me.' We have two helpful sections titled "Current Status" for a summary of what your character's been up to, and "CR Goals" for the plotting and discussion of gaps in your character's CR spectrum that you would like to fill! CANON: Detective Conan

CURRENT STATUS: Making a nuisance of himself while investigating an ever growing list of questions. Currently including "What is this magic everyone keeps talking about and can it be understood with science?", "Is it possible to predict which items come through the dreaming?", and "What exactly has happened here in the past?". Also currently living above the cat cafe.

CR GOALS: A friend would be nice. Somebody that Conan could start to trust eventually. But then, it is Conan. Also always interested in negative CR.

SCENE-DOS: All kinds of things, but looking specifically for Conan failing at slice of life, mysteries to solve, trouble to find, danger to walk into... Also very interested in getting Conan involved in police work. Anyone want to sign up to be a Watson for him?

SCENE-DON'TS: Can't really think of anything.

CHARACTER: Danny Fenton / schrodingersghost
CANON: Danny Phantom

CURRENT STATUS: Bored and making terrible puns. Who let Danny be friends with Chat Noir again?

CR GOALS: More fellow superheroes and teenagers! More adult friends. I'd love to get Danny some mentor type CR.

SCENE-DOS: Comedy, action, slice of life. I'd love to start working towards getting Danny's secret identity revealed and/or finding some people he can trust with some of his secrets.

SCENE-DON'TS: Nothing comes to mind.

ADDITIONAL:

CANON: Dark is Rising Sequence

CURRENT STATUS: Just kind of wandering around. Will is my newest character, and hasn't really done much yet. He still needs to find a job and a place to live, too.

CR GOALS: Anything. Will has only talked to a few people so far.

SCENE-DOS: philosophical debates about magic and time, finding some friends, talking about music... Any characters here have Arthurian stuff in their canon?

Kalineh

CHARACTER: Valdis / redlightgreenlight
CANON: Original Character

CURRENT STATUS: Well, it's complicated...but here's the cliff notes. Valdis made a deal with the Void to work with her so she could have some more stability, but when Anton left, the Void, not being afraid of anyone anymore, decided to break that deal. It is currently, and continuously, attacking Valdis mentally and physically. Nightmares are the most common, but she also has headaches, general pain, a small amount of memory loss and occasionally vomits blood. She hides it well, but it will become more evident the longer it goes on.

On another note. Valdis is working hard to stay busy and is very much succeeding. She still works at the Dojo in the mornings and spends her late afternoons and evenings at the KPD headquarters. In addition, she is working to find the cultists, determined to eradicate them.

CR GOALS: Dream CR? Murder. Seriously, I want someone to murder my character...for reasons. Also! I want Valdis to coordinate on the Cultist task force some more. And get new CR with characters that she hasn't interacted with yet.

SCENE-DOS: Plot is my lifeblood. I adore Plot. Anything plot related is a yes. Anything that contributes to your character's or my character's development is also loved. Also...I need some negative CR, because I miss the snark and tension. And if you have an idea to stop Valdis from being eaten by the Void, I am all ears.

SCENE-DON'TS: Slice of life...I find it a tad boring sometimes because it feels aimless and with my border collie personality, that makes staying focused on it difficult.

Now I can't say anything about void stuff, because I'm not actually sure what it is. But if it helps, Danny can apparently break possessions.

And I know we've already talked about getting Conan involved in police stuff. I am definitely still interested in making that happen.

Danny, unfortunately, has very good reasons from canon to stay far away from anything that even hints government organization. But if something happens that needs more manpower, he's more than happy to jump in and help.

There is information on the Void in Valdis' app if you are interested. Unfortunately it is it something that can be removed since its life is tied to Valdis'.

But yes, Definitely want Conan and Valdis interaction.

CHARACTER: Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir / purrns
CANON: Miraculous Ladybug

CURRENT STATUS: As Adrien, he can be found working in A Cat's Paw, and volunteering in the healer's guild. As Chat, he can be found working for the police force (he's also currently going undercover, following some cultists as Adrien at Valdis' behest).

CR GOALS: Adrien has only been able to go out and MAKE FRIENDS in the past year or so, as such, he is happy to make friends with just about anyone. Unless your character is an unforgivable monster, it's very unlikely you'll make longstanding negative CR from him. Even the bad guys are just regular people who've lost their way to this one. But hey if you want a stab at negative CR, feel free to try, otherwise, it'll likely be pretty positive. He's 15 so fellow teens are awesome, as are fellow superheros (BONUS POINTS IF THEY'RE BOTH) but he honestly has so little good adult influences in his life he'll be happy with adult CR too.

He's pretty polite and stand-offish as Adrien, thanks to being brought up to be respectable at all times, so you're more likely to catch a better (albeit overstated) glimpse of his real personality as Chat. He's starting to let more of it show without the mask, as he gets close to people, but while CR is new, expect a lot of polite restraint from him without the mask on.

SCENE-DOS: I'm happy with slice of life, deeper threads, brackets, prose or network spam. Honestly, I can adapt to whatever is needed at the time. OBVIOUSLY the big elephant in the room is the secret identity thing, which he's currently trying to keep. That said, I'm always happy for people to figure out Adrien/Chat = SAME PERSON. He'll just deny it a whole lot. Eventually, he'll ease up on this as it becomes clear more and more people figured it out (and that it doesn't really matter as much here) but for the time being, he will act like it's the best kept secret ever. (It really isn't)

SCENE-DON'TS: Nothing really on the don't list. I can't offer any shipping, because he is utterly besotted with Ladybug (who he now knows is Marinette and they're currently in an It's Complicated). One sided crushes are always fair game, though!

XDDD, well Danny doesn't have anyone who knows yet. But I'm sure that's just because he hasn't met many people with both identities yet. Its only a matter of time until someone figured out that his disguise is basically just a color flip.

CHARACTER: Mark Watney / aspacepirate
The Martian:

CURRENT STATUS: Not much. He just arrived within the last week or two so he's trying to adjust and get used to his new surroundings and is currently experiencing "YAY NOT ON MARS!!!!!!!"

CR GOALS: I just want to find something to do with this guy. I think right now he has it in his head to come up with a plan for when he gets back to Mars and y'know...not die. But, I think in order to do that and remember, he is considering trying to figure out how to remember things when he gets off the turtle?

But, I think I want to explore what being stuck on Mars all alone would have done to him as a person and explore him struggling to get back into a "normal life" - rather just watch him go "Why is peopling hard? I used to be good at being a people" and realize that his social skills, etc have taken a hit?

SCENE-DOS: I'm open to most things, tbh. I think more than anything I just want anything that allows me to develop this guy. Figure out more likes, dislikes, get some relationships/friendships going, etc.

SCENE-DON'TS: There's not really anything in particular that I am "meeeeh" or worse about. I guess as long as we aren't trying to force a ship or something, then I'm pretty open to things.

CHARACTER: Marie Kreutz / marie_kreutz
The Bourne Series:

CURRENT STATUS: Not much. I imagine Marie is probably ghosting through life and going to work, going to the markets, coming home. On occasion she is at the library checking out books and trying to learn more about this place. If she's bored then she's probably making bead jewelry or something.

CR GOALS: I think my biggest thing is getting Marie to come out of her self-imposed shell.

SCENE-DOS: I'm open to most things, tbh. I think more than anything I just want anything that allows me to develop this girl and find a place for her/potentially build her a home and perhaps a found family or friends or something.

SCENE-DON'TS: There's not really anything in particular that I am "meeeeh" or worse about. I guess as long as we aren't trying to force a ship or something, then I'm pretty open to things.

I don't really want her to get hurt since she died in canon, so I would like to avoid her getting into an overly dangerous situation for right now.

I definitely want more things with Mark and Danny. Maybe even a meeting with Danny's other side (How does he feel about ghosts?).

I think Conan only talked briefly to Marie, but I'd be willing to toss him at her again. Or Will or Danny, for that matter.

CHARACTER: Heather Stone / celticromanstone
CANON: Highlander

CURRENT STATUS: Heather is applying and interviewing at one of the houses in the Fire District. She wants to work there, and will be taking clients on the side. She's also working at the Healer's Guild, because why not?

CR GOALS: Several things I'm looking for for Heather:

- Regular client/lover. She may/may not charge depending on CR/what we arrange.
- Some friends. She has Kylo, but that's pretty much it. She needs some older friends to hang out with.
- More sparring partners. Again, there's Kylo and Gene but she needs a few people willing to spar using metal swords.

SCENE-DOS: I love prose, because it really lets me get into Heather's head. That's not saying that I won't action it out! However, someone needs to wonder why Heather looks so young and 1) knows as much as she does and 2) speaks so old. I'd also like some negative CR - or if not negative, not polite. Someone to maybe call her creepy (she looks barely 18, and moves like a prostitute, it's creepy) or get in her face about being a prostitute.

SCENE-DON'TS: I don't want someone to suddenly figure out she's way older than she looks. I've been dropping a few hints with Kylo, and with Gene, that there's something different about her, but finding out she's Immortal, is a no. Not yet.

Makari

CHARACTER: Raine Sage / ruinsprofessor
CANON: Tales of Symphonia

CURRENT STATUS: Raine has been kind of drifting a little lately; she's anchored to the Healers' Guild, which she runs, but the disappearance of her husband and so many of her friends has left its mark, and she's more subdued and more likely to get lost in her research. She is working on some things for Bakura, though, which is helping keep her focused and driven.

CR GOALS: Please drag her out of the Guild. Please. Otherwise she will turn into a research mushroom, and she hates mushrooms. She lost a lot of close friends recently, and I'm hoping to find some more good CR for her; she's always happy to talk about different sorts of magic and science and the similarities between worlds, so that's a good starting point, but it would also be nice to find someone to challenge her a bit.

SCENE-DOS: Fluff, serious emotions, prose, network, and a special love for scenes that go unexpected places but it's not like you can exactly plan for those so. Surprise me!

SCENE-DON'TS: Prefer not to do too much more ruminating on lost friends and husband; I can do some as applicable but it can be emotionally wearing.

CHARACTER: China Sorrows / inkulcation
CANON: Skulduggery Pleasant

CURRENT STATUS: First off, heads up for those who haven't met her that China does a passive emotion magic thing; here's her permissions form for an overview, let me know if you have concerns.

Generally status-wise, she hates cultists. A lot. Also anyone wise to her usual magic tricks is gone now which is both a blessing and a curse: she can get away with more, but anyone who really knows her enough to challenge her is gone, save perhaps Pepper. It's an odd adriftness, which has left her both more inclined to cut off her softer emotions, and more inclined to admit they exist in the first place.

CR GOALS: I would mostly just like some for her. If we could find someone who makes her have squishy feelings -- ideally in a friendly/mentory way -- that would be lovely. Challenges for China keep her from getting bored, and a bored China is really not a good China. I could probably get her to teach sigil magic, at the very least, if anyone's interested in that.

SCENE-DOS: Anything, I think.

SCENE-DON'TS: I can't think of anything I'm not up for with China right now, but if we go too far into murder and nastiness I'd like to talk about it first.

ADDITIONAL: I'm really sorry about her. Like. 90% of the time I'm just sorry about China.

Raine, come teach Conan about your science-magic, please. He'll even promise not to be too dismissive every time he hears the word magic. (Since his next project is to figure out the rules of how physics and magic work here, so he can work as a detective here.) Will would probably be interested in learning about her brand of magic too.

I don't think any of my characters have any CR with China, but I'd be willing to throw one of them at her to see what happens.

Absolutely. I love Raine in no small part because she is a scholar, and in a world where magic's real, she doesn't see any reason that the scientific method shouldn't be applicable just because not everyone has the genetic predisposition to manipulate the right energies.

And she does love teaching and comparing and contrasting worlds.

Yeah, I've been pretty... bad about tagging out with China for the past couple of months. I'm always a little hesitant with her, since she is kind of terrible to people? But I'd like to get more CR and see what happens, and if you're up for it I'm up for it c:

CURRENT STATUS: Bisi is currently researching Dust, working for the Police STation, crushing hard one-sidedly on Adrien, and also is gonna be trying to get her warframe back from Kylo once I get back to that (and dealing with her emotions in the meantime)

CR GOALS: I don't have anything in particular in mind! Open to most!

SCENE-DOS: I would love more friends! Also open to PLOTS. Slice of life is fun, combat is fun. shipping plz

SCENE-DON'TS: Not too much I can think of!

CANON: Saga

CURRENT STATUS: Looking for leads on cultists, trying to get drunk

CR GOALS: Literally anything, not too many people have tagged her but I also don't want to drop her on people. If it turns out that it's too hard to get CR for her I'll just wind up dropping her, this is kind of the probation month.

SCENE-DOS: Get in arguments. Have witty banter. shoot sexual innuendo at her or just act offended when she sends it at you, it's all hilarious. Talk about how awesome guns are. Help her hunt cultists. Get drunk with her.

SCENE-DON'TS: She is anything goes.

CANON: Firefly

CURRENT STATUS: I have been SERIOUSLY slacking on this game, so Simon's just... been quietly working at the Guild and working on his and River's house, yes.

CR GOALS: I need more CR. I know that's unhelpfully vague, but I'll be making an effort to branch out. Simon is available for wound care, medical advice... that's his big strength.

SCENE-DOS: I'm up for lots of things- medical stuff, chatter, even negative CR since Simon can speak before he thinks sometimes.

SCENE-DON'TS: My only hard nos are smut and shipping for the time being. He's still attached to Kaylee at this point, and while I'm fine with characters flirting with him, it won't be reciprocated. I'm also awful at writing fight scenes, so I'd like to avoid those even though it's probably not gonna come up often.

CHARACTER: Kylo Ren/ no_light
CANON: Star Wars: TFA

CURRENT STATUS: He's dealing with The Terribly Nosy Women In His Life expecting him to not be a murderous asshole. It's cruel and unusual and he feels very put upon. He's also likely to get dragged into shenanigans by Heather.

He's been having a minor existential crisis (no computers were harmed in this - yet) but once he's had a talk with Raine he'll be back to daily shifts at the Healer's Guild for artes training. He'll try to convince Valdis to involve him in the Cultist investigation (spoilers: not to stop them.) Has vague aspirations of training the Force sensitive kedan and foreigners. Wants to take apart and study Bisi's Warframe. And sometimes he has dates with Rey.

Lives in the Fire Sector, has been housing half a dozen kin'nal much to his exasperation.

CR GOALS: I love the CR I have, but I'm greedy and always want more! Would be great to meet more people in town, and deepen the ties with the friends and enemies he has.
He has quite a few people influencing him towards the Light Side, having someone pull towards the Dark could be fun.
His house of cards is crumbling, with more people seeing through the (semi-)pleasant facade so mid-term more of that could be fun.

SCENE-DOS: I love prose, but I'm usually faster with network replies, so there's that. I have a mad love for text conversations which nobody needs to feel obligated to indulge. Kylo is more likely to approach new people in person, he'll only respond to network messages if he seeks to gain something specific from it.

SCENE-DON'TS: Not looking for romance, he's got that one covered! Can't think of anything else.

Sooo, Valdis and Kylo and the Cultists, right? And Kylo needs influencing towards the dark side?

I think we can work with that. Also, I might have a temporary solution to Valdis' problem that Kylo can help with. :P

Starting with the Cultists, how exactly would he try to convince Valdis to let him 'help'? She's hard to fool but I'll bet we could figure something out. She could pretend to believe him, or she could begrudgingly allow him to help for some reason. Maybe tries to manipulate him into getting information for her. That might toy with his dark side a bit.

Due to her issues with the Void, she might actually act more like who she used to be as it chips away at who she is, something I find very interesting and it could be fun to explore. This might apply to Kylo as well because they could inadvertently feed each other's darkness.

Also, if Kylo wants to 'Destroy' Valdis, I am totally down with that. In fact, she might purposefully push him to do that hoping for a 'reset', which could give her temporary relief from the Void, except it doesn't and that could also be fun. Plus, Kylo would get to see more of her power, namely the resurrection portion.

And I'm going to stop now, because wow I have a lot of ideas. :P

Ooooh, very interested in how he could help with her Void problem! I mean, he would certainly be very eager to help - wouldn't want to miss the chance that she owes him a favor!

I'd love to see Valdis acting darker, that could be very fun to watch and yes, I can certainly see them fueling another's darkness. Letting him help with the investigation to get information from him sounds good - maybe she also wants to keep him from investigating on his own? Better to keep him on a tight leash.

"Destroying" her oh my xD That could be so interesting, especially if she's pushing. It would take a lot of pushing since he's been so careful not to slip up, but Valdis would be a prime candidate for making him finally slip.

Valdis wouldn't outright ask him to help, but she would definitely push him over the edge if she can. A 'reset' is when Valdis dies, but the death purges impurities and, in theory, causes the Void to back off for a certain amount of time. I'd kind of love for Kylo to learn to learn that Valdis can resurrect herself and that she can shift into a giant hound. Though he's probably heard about the latter, very few people remain who know about her ability to revive herself.

But yeah, she'd totally use Kylo in that manner, feeding him bits of information in exchange for what he has and letting him help, mostly solo of course, she doesn't want his temper to reflect poorly on the rest of her forces.

She could probably excuse pushing him to reveal his powers as a test to see if he really was strong enough to 'join her.' I'm kind of planning a thing where she drifts closer to the darkness because it eases the pain from the Void.

Yes, that would be a good way to push him to reveal his powers. And then he lashes out and she gets her reset..

Oh my, two deaths at his hands, the excuses would start to wear thin (and Raine is gonna kick his ass so much for controlling your temper)

Yay! Ok, how do we want to set this up? Valdis wouldn't want to make a scene, so she might contact Kylo privately and set up a meeting in a more obscure place. She doesn't want people to know what she is doing anyhow. (Don't worry, she won't tell Raine and what the Healer doesn't know, won't hurt anyone :P )

Yes, setting it up like that sounds good, though if it would help I could also have him contact her. he's gonna come crawling out of his little crisis mode and so contacting Valdis about cultist things would be a logical next step.

CANON: Game of Thrones

CURRENT STATUS: Learning Healing, Kedan and enjoying herself with the locals. Maybe a little too much.

CR GOALS: Allies, friends, enemies, random one nighters... This is Daenerys. She will do some good and then have some fun. All work and no play and all that.

CHARACTER: Lord Voldemort / hallowedhorcrux
CANON: Harry Potter

CURRENT STATUS: Nothing good. I need to update the Turtle about his NEFARIOUS PLOTS (mostly to copy the Turtle's powers). It's about power, power power to him.

CR GOALS: He needs some followers. It's a great job, I promise, and no one has died horribly.

So, Heather works at the Healer's guild. Maybe her and Daenerys can meet and be frands? They can talk about being powerful women when men think they're in control.

ALSO! Hopefully, Brigid will be back this month, so her and Voldy should get together for a few things.
