MISSIONS | March 2014
Greetings, Tushanites!
March 1st happens to mark a new phase of gameplay here in the wonderful world of turtles and we need you to make it work! Below, there are five missions. Please read them over carefully and then fill out the textarea form at the bottom. There is an element of randomization here but players can also submit missions for pre-formed groups of their own choosing! Part of expanding the known realm of Konryu, we've updated and expanded our Setting page to include 8 new continents which are going to be gradually opened for exploration and development, which you'll start to see coming in to play in the missions below.
As detailed in our State of the Shell: Missions section, each mission your character undergoes (threaded out with at least ten comments from your character) is worth a credit, and each handwaved mission is worth half a credit. Please note: only missions that you yourself come up with can be handwaved. The 'mod missions' are ones where participation is considered mandatory, as you are filling a limited slot. If we notice a trend amongst any one player of signing up for missions and leaving their mission-mates hanging, we will be speaking with them to determine a suitable outcome.
March is a bit different than what will follow, as this is a new concept and we're trying to put a system in place that works for everyone, so for this month we have five prefabricated missions, so that players can get some understanding of what can be done in the world. If you'll note we also have a comment header where you can suggest the sorts of missions you'd like to see in the months that follow! Feel free to be as succinct or not as you please, as we'll be basing next month's missions on this feedback.
We also have a comment header for questions. Please don't hesitate to for more information or clarifications... we're new to this too!
This month's planned missions are as follows:
→ SIAXHI (INVESTIGATION)
→ VIAN THAX (RESCUE)
→ TEYRAN (EXPLORATION)
→ GHA'NAL (QUEST)
→ DUST (UNDERCOVER)
Each month, a player can volunteer a character for up to three mod missions. Like other limited space elements in the game, we ask that each player only submit one character from their roster for the mod missions, though their other characters can be submitted for player missions, so long as it's one mission per character per month. To sign up, fill out the information below and choose your top three missions in order of preference. If there are more signups than available spaces for a mission, we will RNG characters into the slots. If your character isn't RNG'd into the first mission, they'll be added to the pool for the second mission, and so on for the third.
Mod missions will be tallied and their participants notified on the 5th of the month @ ~9:00PM EST. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that everyone who signs up a character for a mission will be chosen for one of the mod missions, as it is based solely on the number of signups for each one. In the event that your character isn't chosen for any of your three choices, you can still sign them up for a player mission before 9:00PM PST on the 7th.
Player missions can involve either just your character or a pre-planned group, or even have open signup! Once your mission is approved by the mods, including any clarifications or extra information needed, you're set for playing it out. Remember that the mission can take place at any point throughout the month. For convenience purposes, we've also created the %missions tag in the log comm and we'd be very appreciative if it could be added to mission logs when they get posted.

PLAYER MISSIONS
EXAMPLE #1
Character(s): James Kidd, Anne Bonny.
Mission Duration: 3 days.
Mission Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Mission Type: Exploration! The nature of Assassin's Creed is such that characters are often rewarded by travelling to new places and learning new things, and I'd like this mission to hold to the heart of that. Kidd and Anne can discover some ruins and spend a few days studying ancient architecture, looking for old books or relics, etc.
Projected Plot Impact: If they could figure out what happened to the city to cause it to become a ruin, that'd be fab! I think it would really help to have a solid grounding of what happened in the past battles with Malicant to prepare for the future. So maybe there's evidence of a certain type of weapon, or something that might have revealed one of Malicant's strategies? IE: Maybe there's a bunch of skeletons around a well, suggesting they all died from poison, and so the water supplies in Keeliai can be fortified as a result?
Proposed Worldbuilding Changes: Two things! One, the ruin itself. Preferably in the islands of Zeshora, maybe half-submerged so there's some swimming involved in the exploration? And I'd also like to create a species of predator, let's call them 'savrun'. They're about the size of a jungle cat, with feathers and two sets of eyes. They hunt in pairs and have a taste for humans, whoops.
EXAMPLE #2
Character(s): Yami no Bakura
Mission Duration: 2 days
Mission Difficulty: ★★★
Mission Type: Stealth! Bakura needs to get his sticky little thief hands on something new and shiny. The Ring has the ability to point out other magical baubles so he'd definitely take something like that.
Projected Plot Impact: It'd be interesting if whatever valuable Bakura takes is connected to a series of them, which sets off a chain reaction allowing others to be found on future missions! Also, the items should have their own properties but when put together, really pack a punch
by your powers combined I am Captain Pla--no nevermindProposed Worldbuilding Changes: With how militant Atamsichar is, I'm thinking some kind of high security vault fits right in. Also because Atam is a port city, perhaps it's somewhere that other continents have shipped dangerous or valuable items for safe storage. (Not so safe anymore!)
submits this as an actual player plot because c'mon yes
Character(s) & Journals: James Kidd (
Mission Duration: Four days, including one to travel to the site and back.
Mission Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆ (traps, some aggressive fauna, underwater sections)
Mission Type: Exploration! The nature of Assassin's Creed is such that characters are often rewarded by travelling to new places and learning new things, and I'd like this mission to hold to the heart of that, especially with the new addition of Raine. The team can discover some ruins and spend a few days studying ancient architecture, looking for old books or relics and examining dead bodies, etc.

I think it would really help to have a solid grounding of what happened in the past battles with Malicant to prepare for the future. NOTE: Please update this thread once you have the other two character spaces filled, so we can keep track of who is participating. Thank you!

Re: PLAYER MISSIONS
Character(s) & Journals: Billy Costigan (
Mission Duration: 7 days, no specific date.
Mission Difficulty: ★★★☆☆
Mission Type: Infiltration. Costigan is, if nothing else, a gifted undercover. He's spent so long doing it that he's not even sure he knows how not to anymore and he also already has ties to at least one local gang. Seems about time for him to get arrested again, for the sake of trying to garner more information on local gangs.
Projected Plot Impact: Trying to start building a file on which gangs might be related to Malicant or Dust, versus which gangs are just doing the usual gang thing. Also trying to get names of potential key figures or plans/events/rituals. The goal would be for him to be able to pass along this information to create future missions specifically related to gangs/Dust.
Proposed Worldbuilding Changes: This could serve as a catalyst for more PCs to go undercover. Hopefully, in the long run, this and similar missions could also severely reduce the prevalence of Dust with key arrests, etc.

Re: APPROVED
I completely understand if you two don't and am not looking for an immediate answer, but would appreciate if you could keep it in mind.

Character(s) & Journals: Eridan Ampora, (
Mission Duration: Approximately three days real-time, in Dreaming-time... unknown.
Mission Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆
Mission Type: Exploration. The Dreaming plane has been accessible from Keeliai for some time but as extensive tests haven’t been run on it (MAGIC), it’s science to the rescue! All characters entering have the mental fortitude to shape the plane to their choosing, so as to minimise risk of becoming lost or trapped.
Projected Plot Impact: Knowing more about the Dreaming plane! How to enter, exit, and manipulate it; finding anyone lost in there, what happens when you die in there, etc. Through Kithika it’s been proven that the Death plane can directly be used to influence people and objects, so the team would like to know if the Dreaming plane can offer them any help, or will be a hindrance.
Proposed Worldbuilding Changes: Does anything live in the Dream plane, ruling it? What does it reflect, and why? Is coming here dangerous? We shall find out.
