Evening, turtle-ites! Alex here to announce the team structure and scheduling for the upcoming Malicant plot. There are a couple items of business to address before we launch into the core of the post, so let's fire it up and get this show on the road!

Power Reduction
The meta/power/tech reduction is set to hit its peak on June 24th and then plateau until the Malicant event concludes in mid-July. This means that, per this post, all characters are having to deal with a significant reduction in strength, powers, and technology that they have long held as just there. (Which is why Tony Stark can be seen crashing his Mark VI armour more frequently than dignity strictly allows for, whoops.) The consoles have and will continue to work and characters may note that the auto-translate of speech in and around Keeliai still functions perfectly. Strange, but true!

Independent Actions
While not every character may end up on a team, we are happy to announce that this hardly discounts them from involvement in the plot! Characters not announced as part of one of the fifteen teams below will be welcome to investigate in and around Keeliai/the turtleside to see what they can find. They are welcome to take action, even partner up with one another! The only difference is that they will not be part of the official "clueventure" event logs.

That said! There is a comment header in this post specifically for those characters that would like to get involved regardless of team status. These characters (erm, their players) can reply to this header with details of what actions they will be taking, where they might look, and what they might do. We will look over each of these submissions and provide a result of what they may find/impact/what have you.

Note: We do ask that participation in this angle of the plot be kept to characters not involved on teams so as not conflict with any of the clueventure log results. Also: Because the characters involved with teams will likely be busy with said teams.

That clears up the event housekeeping, so onto the core of the post: Team rosters!

Team Rosters
Structuring
We ended up receiving more preformed team sign-ups than initially expected. Based on this, we modified the method of selecting the final team rosters to allow for seven pre-formed teams and eight RNG ones (compared to the planned 10:5 ratio). To select which of the pre-formed teams to allow, we turned to RNG. Any characters on teams that did not make that lottery and were open to being added to the RNG pool were indeed added into the RNG team lottery.

There were more than seventy-five characters signed up for the plot and as such, unfortunately, we were unable to include every signed-up character. Those that did not make the lottery teams are more than welcome to participate via the independent investigations option outlined above.

Scheduling
The first event log will go up on June 25th, with an additional log posted every day after until the total of five logs are posted. Each log will, as planned, be structured to allow for three teams to independently operate (using comment headers). All clues and team decisions, as discussed in the sign-up post, will be covered off in these log posts. At this time, an example of the structure is not available, but we recommend everyone take a look at the first log's structure when it goes up as it will be mirrored on the other logs.

Note: Links to the team-specific threads within each log will be added to the log header information for ease of access and reference. That is one specific structure detail currently planned. IC and OOC sections will also be clearly identified within each team's area.

Log Groupings & Posting Schedule
The logs will be posted starting June 25th, with one per day until all five logs are posted. Clues will be provided to each team every five days, with three days given for the team to reply with their "next step" choice from the list of potential options that will be provided with each set of glue. Once again, OOC structuring will be finalised for the posting of the first log on June 25th.

In terms of organisation, the teams will be separated into logs on a straightforward basis, as follows:

The M-Word
As of this time, the team that will encounter Malicant is UNKNOWN. The "lucky" few will be contacted OOCly by Roy to discuss the encounter and its outcome once the almighty hand of fate (read: what happens when RNG and character actions combine via DIGIVOLVING) has identified which team it shall be.

INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATIONS

Actions:
By request, Costigan will primarily be trying to keep track of everything going on. He would pass along everything he knows about varying situations without naming names (if explicitly asked, we could work that out separately). His close CR includes Bruce Banner, Bucky Barnes (MCU), and Jack. Other CR who would probably give him basics: Lincoln Lee (Alt), Kyle Rayner, Inara Serra, Ariadne, Arthur.

He would update about the black market situation (not naming any names).

He would also pass along the conversation he had with Bruce Banner (named, emphasized that Bruce is one of his close allies), just in case they don't have as many details about that.

Because of what he learned from Banner, Costigan would spend the beginning of his active time during the investigation plot trying to gain access to aforementioned tumor-like masses and have them looked at by doctors and scientists (ideally Evandau's people, but otherwise he would pass it off to Banner).

If there's additional time available (which I hope there is?), he would offer to spend some time in the Empire's prisons to try to eavesdrop and pick up what he can about any potential Malicant stuff.

Please note that, if you guys would like to pursue the prison option, I'm totally fine to have him in prison beyond the end of this plot. Would just need to figure out timeline with his having replied to some of the new people!

The information passed on to Evandau is noted and would further fortify the working trust between these two parties.

Tumorous Growths
Evandau would not be able to grant Costigan access to the growths discussed between Costigan and Banner. This would be explained as a multi-tiered decision, factoring in that their best healers have attended to Tu Vishan. This is in addition to the wounds from January's jiangshi attack still healing and his perception that it is counterproductive to cut the turtle open further. Given that the turtle's flesh heals slowly and it was impeded by Foreigners trespassing in the aftermath of the jiangshi, it is his stance that they need not taint Tu Vishan further when already it is ill -- especially without proof that this is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, the reason as to why Tu Vishan is currently functionally dead in the water. Ultimately, should Costigan press for information, it would also be explained that Evandau was tasked to keep the turtle safe from intervention and he cannot go against that order. He would suggest Costigan take it directly to Eshai at her next audience.

Should Costigan make the decision to go against Evandau's decision, he could investigate site A or B from this team's initial clueset. Please advise as to which site he would investigate in such a scenario so that findings can be provided.

Also, this would be done with the understanding that the slightest report coming to Evandau of Costigan undertaking direct investigation would result in arrest and incarceration for one week's time.

Which brings us to...

Incarceration
Evandau could arrange for Costigan to be incarcerated for whatever timeframe deemed optimal. This would be unrelated to the above investigation (see the note at the bottom of this comment for details). Costigan would be provided with a list of imprisoned kedan with suspected ties to Malicant for which there exists no solid proof of conspiracy against the turtle or the Ironwood Empteror. Details of what he could find by speaking with/eavesdropping upon these kedan would be provided based on the decision of which option you choose to pursue with him.

Note: Please confirm whether Costigan would pursue incarceration or investigation on the grounds that only one independent investigation is being permitted per character in order provide as equal of opportunities as possible to all characters in the game.

Costigan would not go against Evandau's decision. He would definitely push for further information and then accept that he needs to talk to Eshai (or Banner), taking no action on his own.

Costigan would pursue incarceration for 1-2 weeks (whatever you/Evandau feel/s is appropriate). He would also insist on actually committing a crime, instead of simply being charged with it, so that his story is solid.

(As an aside, I'm totally fine oocly if Evandau wants to make an announcement to that end or anything. Icly, Costigan would prefer less people know, obviously, but I'm good with whatever would be IC for you.)

The choice of crime to commit is up to you. Incarceration for said crime would be up to ten days, with it possibly being shortened to seven for good behaviour. Feel free to have it be a cultural misunderstanding or a more dire crime.

Once within the walls of the prison, Costigan could infiltrate a prison gang within three days. This gang is headed by a kedan by the name Vyxaio and she does not care for softhearted associates -- proven when one of her crew is identified as an informant to the guards within a day of Costigan's arrival. She personally eviscerates this kedan and her third volunteers to take the blame for it, being removed to isolation almost immediately.

This creates a two-party gap in her gang and so initiates are identified amount the population. Costigan would have to prove his interest and loyalty, but you are free to choose the terms that he would work under. If successful, she would permit him to join the crew, at the same time promoting one of the "lifers" to the position of third.

Vyxaio herself is serving the final month of a thirty-year sentence for murder and she is very confident in both her success upon release and the safety she enjoys from other crimes that she has committed -- a difficult-to-obtain example being that she had been in a conspiracy to overthrow the Emperor at her time of arrest, but brothers to her cause took that fall and the associated execution for her. This is because she is powerful within the criminal ranks and evokes a great deal of loyalty by protecting them where she can and promoting within the organisation.

What organisation? Vyxaio heads the Phelios Crew, a gang inspired by the name of the satellite cluster -- intimating that the recent crashlanding was not the first encounter with technology that Keeliai had. This gang has been on the downlow since her arrest thirty years ago, but she has maintained some control in the streets via a network of kedan that served and were freed from their lesser sentences. She is also the most frequently visited prisoner in the facility, receiving coded updates two or three times a day from trusted runners that pose as family.

Recently, she has experienced a boost in influence due to the approach and offer of a home in another realm by what she describes, after a few days, as being a cold presence that elicited a feeling of fear. Here in the safety beneath the palace, she even states the name Malicant without drawing attention, though she is careful who she speaks it to. Undue admission of knowledge leads to execution around here, after all.

Costigate could either take this information at the end of his incarceration to Evandau for immediate action or could continue to infiltrate the Phelios Crew. Should he choose the latter, feel free to create details about Vyxaio and her actions once she is set free (timed with his own release date).

Sorry for the delay in response.

Costigan will commit a minor-to-moderate assault of a police officer, whatever Evandau feels would justify the time. He will be in prison for 8 days for this crime (12july-20july), without any effort to be released early for good behavior; in fact, his behavior will likely not be the best in order to fit in better.

I'll write up better details for this (terms, gang members, etc) and send it to you when completed.

Costigan would be inclined to pass along the information to Evandau, but insist on being given more time. If Evandau would threaten him or want to move forward without him, please let me know and we can work out better details.

That all sounds perfect. Evandau would, after initially asking for a report, agree to permitting him additional time. Should he ask for an excess of it, we could introduce a kedan tail being assigned to Costigane after, say, three weeks? It is up to you. Evandau generally trusts him, but gangs are messy things and the Malicant angle is always very worrying to him.
