Event | Malicant & The Turtle of Plagueness | Wind down & Results
Evening, chelo-nauts! Alex here to announce that the Malicant plot event is in its final stages, with the official end date being July 13th (known as 'Saturday' in some tongues). This entire event worked around the structure of team and independent investigations addressing the pressing issue of Tu Vishan's help in the context of Malicant being the root cause. Absolutely none of the outcomes to this event were planned in advance and, instead, they were reached by the actions and reactions of each character involved in it, team or otherwise. With that in mind, this post compiles summaries of what each team did, a listing of the independent investigations, and a final summary of how this has impacted Keeliai and Tu Vishan.
Team Summaries
Team 01 | Log Thread | Asbel, Richard, Wanda, Tony (616), Qilby,swizard
The team was dispatched to investigate reports of abandoned mining tunnels being cleared with a potential route to the turtle's vulnerable flesh. They travelled to Senphatos Mountain, an old mining stronghold, and delved into the tunnels. Braving fungus and darkness both, they discovered that the tunnels had been cleared by qin -- a menace rodent that has not been seen in many years. The team dealt with the qin-festation and discovered that the missing kedan had been eaten alive by the creatures. Senphatos has since been declared off-limits and limited studies will be conducted to monitor the remaining qin population.
Team 02 | Log Thread | Annabeth, Percy, Soranik, Rogue
This team was tasked with solving a series of mysterious break-ins that occurred in the Metal and Fire Sectors. They discovered a series of arcane artefacts and writings that combined into an archway. With judicious use of the motto "what could possibly go wrong" they were able to complete an archway and activate it into a portal. This portal lead into the Death realm, where the team found evidence of largescale blood magic writ upon the ground in, you guessed it, blood. They eradicated these markings and, as a result, Tu Vishan experienced a significant boost in health.
Team 03 | Log Thread | Vanessa, Catty, Iorveth, Traci, Una
Presence of a mind-controlling street drug by the name of Dust had this team running an outreach program attempting to dissuade users of the drug while searching out the source of it. They discovered that the pure form of the drug was being used to control kedan for the sake of Malicant's will. The police raided the operation they discovered and discovered a blood sacrifice ring that they shut down in the process. The presence of Dust, however, persists and the scheme of controlling kedan via it continues.
Team 04 | Log Thread | Rose, Spock, Jim, Clara, Kyle
Prophets speaking out against the health and welfare of the turtle are identified to this team and they attempted to infiltrate the ranks of their followers to find out more. Three members of the team were compromised and interrogated extensively by the extremist kedan, with the other two able to maintain the integrity of their infiltrations. These two learned that there are five locations in which an acidic substance is being drained slowly straight into the turtle's shell. A raid conducted based on their intel shut down all five locations and the three captured characters were freed. There is a slight improvement to Tu Vishan's health due to the removal of all five "acid drips" set up by the prophets and their followers.
Team 05 | Log Thread | Bart, Tim, Kon, Gavroche, Molly
Three policekedan that went to investigate the sites where the turtle was injured during the jiangshi were unsuccessful, with two returning to Keeliai with no recollection of their task and the third missing in action. This team is dispatched to investigate a site three kilometres south of Keeliai, where they discover a group of kedan applying a pungent cream to Tu Vishan's skin. This cream overwhelms the senses, eradicating the memory of those that inhale it -- proven by the policekedan that they found wandering beneath the shell. A police raid shut down the operation and concluded that the kedan meant well -- they were applying an extremely anti-inflammatory cream to Tu Vishan. It had moderate effect and there is no noticeable change in the health of the turtle when the applications are ceased.
Team 06 | Log Thread | Lois, Clark, Hayley, Luke, Mark
Suspicious activities at the residence of Faoxin resulted in this team infiltrating the service staff to determine the nature of these activities. They stole a key and discovered rooms on the topmost floors dedicated solely to the support of Malicant, including a strange weapon comprised of cubes that induce intense emotional shifts. They also found a young kedan being confined and used for blood magic; this kedan was killed when the team was discovered by Faoxin. A subsequent police raid resulted in Faoxin being executed and his residence swept of evidence for investigative purposes. This removed a powerful ally from Malicant's roster.
Team 07 | Log Thread | Temeraire, William, Combeferre, Enjolras, Javert
The team investigated potential breaches of security at the Palace of Landed Sky, honing in on a securitykedan by the name of Geidan that acted hostile to staff during questioning. An altercation between Geidan and another kedan resulted in strong accusations being thrown about that Geidan was, in fact, the party behind incidents where the security of the palace had been compromised. Before any conclusive headway could be made, the team was waylaid by Malicant itself. They were isolated and brought to the Death realm, where Malicant then entertained them -- or was entertained by them. Their survival and state at the writing of this post is unknown.
Team 08 | Log Thread | Bucky (MCU), Frank, Tarrlok, Jack Frost, Zelgadis
This team was tasked with the execution of a search warrant at a suspected weapons-trafficking warehouse. They conducted a nighttime search and discovered a concealed storage area that contained hybrid weapons featuring spectre technology. Tey-po, the kedan heading this, took one of the team hostage and this resulted in a confrontation between the team and the kedan of the warehouse, with Bucky being injured in the process. They overcame Tey-po and turned her in; she was questioned and later executed, with the Crossroads Outcasts gang subject to a police raid.
Team 09 | Log Thread | Steve (MCU), Sabriel, Terrance, Sharon, Shepard
The team investigated an abandoned cemetery outside of Keeliai where three kedan youths have gone missing and three returned mad with fear. They discovered a cleared monument upon which the words "Mah. Lee. Cant." were inscribed above an entry into the tomb beneath the monument. Here they found Ossah, a kedan that claimed the spirits haunting the graves of the fallen soldiers have been protecting her from the fearsome presence of Malicant. They helped her complete the excavation of a safehouse beneath the monument and she advises them to return should they ever be hunted by this evil presence.
Team 10 | Log Thread | Jason Grace, Amaterasu, Carol, Marius, Johnny
There is a triad of kedan that run a beast-fighting ring that has suspected ties to Malicant's financial presence on the turtle. They infiltrated the rings as gamblers and heard direct confirmation of Malciant's involvement when Vohsei spoke its name. He offered them a chance to return to their worlds if they declared allegiance to it; however, Malciant itself appeared, destroyed Vohsei, then wiped that offer from the table. It shrugged off every attack thrown at it, reacting as though tickled by them before it disappeared. The team shut down that site of the fighting rings, but two more remain active.
Team 11 | Log Thread | Natasha, Dinah, Liz, Toro
Six kedan families were ousted from their Wood Sector homes by aggressive parties and this team was dispatched to discover why; the concern being that the roots of these homes ran deep -- reportedly straight into Tu Vishan itself. They investigated the homes directly and discovered kedan holing up in the lower levels, along with a multiple sets of intravenous therapy medical equipment. The team apprehended these kedan and discovered that the roots of the homes did run directly into the blood of Tu Vishan, which these kedan took advantage of by the IV application of a concentrated poison directly through the roots. While there was no immediate boost in health at the removal of the equipment, Tu Vishan will recover fully from that poison within two months.
Team 12 | Log Thread | Peggy, Jaime, Westley, Johan, Cinna
The team was tasked with tracing a suspected drug running route out beyond the walls of Keeliai that could be assisting Malicant with running things in and out of the city. They headed straight to the field and discovered a deep ravine in which groups of kedan worked at mixing a white liquid compound and dumping it into a stagnant lake. Further investigation determined that bodies were being dumped in the lake and that the water itself was highly corrosive, effectively destroying anything placed in it. They incapacitated seven kedan associated with the operation and questioned them to learn that the bodies being dumped were used for blood sacrifices by Faoxin and another party for which they had no coherent information. The team discovers five chests filled with valuables and then report back to Hei To. A police raid at a later date finds no evidence of the kedan working there, but does recover a number of bodies in varying states of corrosion from the water.

Raimei, Amelia, Korra, Ariadne, Iskierka
This team went to an area called the Quarry, where once they harvested the shell and the mantle between surface and the turtle's skin ended up worryingly thin. They discovered a series of bodies buried there and an operation of sorts; the involved kedan noticed the team and they had to withdraw and follow a cart loaded in the Quarry to a deal location, where the substance they harvested at the Quarry was turned over to a buyer. That transaction went bad and the kedan fought to the death, leaving their cart behind for the team to confiscate. The substance was a lowgrade imitation of the mind-control drug Dust, though police raids of the Quarry found nothing but the bodies (former gang members). The Dust knockoff will return to the streets within a few months.
Team 14 | Log Thread | Leo Valdez, Bucky (616), Randolph, Steve (616), Charles
The police assigned this team to protect Yetein, a kedan informant deeply involved in the sect of kedan that work with Malicant out of reverence or fear. They escorted him to an architectural firm in the Earth Sector wherein numerous parties affiliated with Malicant were said to reside. They used a secret entrance maintained by a kedan named Cyoalin and gained access to the building, but were discovered. Retreat proved impossible due to a fire at the entry point and the team had to subdue Waxu and his associates. The former admitted to assisting Malicant and named a list of kedan that allied with it. Many of these kedan are apprehended and put to the death, thus dismantling an important arm of Malicant's kedan personnel management.
Team 15 | Log Thread | Max, Amon, Nico, Inara, Jason Todd
Evandau tasked this team with the apprehension and/or execution of parties suspected to have ties with Malicant. They successfully apprehended Valwoen and she called for Malicant's assistance, but that only summoned a cold sensation of fear before fading. They moved on to a target by the name of Kaonei, who engaged in far less resistance at being arrested; he did state Malicant's name once, shrugging off the panic-inducing fear as though it were nothing. Both Valwoen and Kaonei were successfully removed from the streets, hobbling both the coercion and drug creation aspects of Malicant's venture. The police locate and brutally execute the third, Fy-son, and thereby hobble its ability to generate juulan via gambling debts.
Independent Investigations
The independent investigations were submitted and participated in by characters that were not officially involved in the plot via a team. There were a variety of situations that occurred as a result of these investigations and though they did not impact the health of the turtle, there were other in-game impacts (such as the PSDs). Many also expanded to involve other characters with research and investigations. See each thread for details:

Health & Powers
Due to the combined efforts of the characters, both in the independent investigations and with the team actions, Tu Vishan will be returning to full health! This will take up to two months for its full effect to come into play, but immediately there is a return of powers across the board. These powers start at roughly 70% of normal and will, over the course of two months, return to 100% in accordance with Tu Vishan's health.
Malicant
Many of the aspects of Malicant's enterprises within the kedan population have been hobbled or completely eradicated, setting it back to square one. Maybe two. The fearful murmurings of its existence will fade into the background as the kedan resume day-to-day life -- trigged by Tu Vishan swimming once more. Things appear to be back to normal. At least, for the moment.
Rationing
The rationing will be officially lifted by July 20th, with the health of Tu Vishan monitored a full week before the decree is lifted.
Kedan PR
With the restoration of the turtle and the lifting of the rationing sanctions, the kedan will show a positive improvement of opinion with regards to the Foreigners. They may not have banished Malicant completely, but they have saved the turtle from its illness and that is more than enough for the kedan.
Timing
The final date of the event is July 13th, with the characters waking up that day feeling the 70% restoration and Tu Vishan rising back to normal flotation levels as he continues onwards in his swim across the vast oceans of Konryu. All PSDs will be confiscated by this point and the portion of the investigations involving Foreigners closed off. Characters can report to precinct headquarters to review official case files for what their team was involved in.
