Because I totally reject the entire premise of 'what is' being the only option. It's way too simple, for one thing, and it's also the path of least resistance. I'm sure fighting four thousand years of self-recrimination is going to suck like almost nothing else, and be harder than just keeping on going the way you are now, but I'm up for it if you are.
