TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!

Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:

→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
→ Tag around with everyone!
→ Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
→ Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!

But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
  1. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!

  2. Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?

  3. Where there's a will, there's a...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what starts out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! It's just appeared in front of you. Though, it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...

  4. Let's play cops and robbers!
Local law enforcement is handled by the Keeliai Police Department, an organization of both Foreigners and kedan dedicated to keeping the peace in the turtle... and they're about to make a raid on a large, illegal gambling ring! Are you going to collar the nearest bad guy, or are you one of the high rollers now looking to make a quick escape? Or a bookie who's now getting booked downtown?

  5. Wait... you want my what now?!
The kedan are a curious folk, and the Foreigners are entertainment in conveniently arriving packages, especially when they come along with unique items that the kedan might not have seen before. Maybe it's your cellphone... or maybe it's your knickers! How badly do you want to keep your stuff from some overeager native shapeshifters who want to buy, bribe, or burglarize it right off your person?

  6. Sea prunes, get your sea prunes right here!
Life in Keeliai can take a little getting used to: the chickens have scales, the cows have feathers, and the fruits come in more colour and pattern combinations than your average tye-dye shirt. Not to mention that meal you just ordered from the food vendor? Has arrived on the plate, and you're pretty sure you just saw it move.

  7. Everybody needs a little darkness...
The Great Enemy may have been defeated over two years ago, and people are even willing to speak Malicant's name aloud now, but there remains a taint in the city never fully purged. Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...

  8. Illicit substances, anyone?
Every city has its vices, and Keeliai is no different. Perhaps you actively sought it out, or perhaps an opportunistic dealer saw you as a potential customer needing a free sample, but you're now in possession of a packet of Lucid, an emotion-enhancing drug. Interested in finding out what happens when you crush that colourful crystal and ingest it?

  9. Incoming!
Tu Vishan's latest landfall stop has brought an unwelcome problem to its residents: enormous, toothy creatures who look more like pterosaurs than most people are comfortable with! With a twenty-foot wingspan, these aren't exactly harmless local wildlife, and they have a nasty habit of swooping down on targets both Foreigner and kedan! How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??

(Please note: This scenario isn't applicable to becoming game canon if you choose to app your character, as an alien pterosaur attack is a major event.)

  10. WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the uncontrollable urge to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Anything goes!

[He isn't quite sure how it happened - how they ended up here when the place Kurogane had been was not a world Mokona could use its powers to take them to another one.

Kurogane can't deny that Mokona might be around too, somewhere within range of their current location since if they're too far away that particular power doesn't work.]

We'll look for the thing.

[A pat to Fai's head before letting his arm drop and giving the mage something easier to hang on to. The only response to how much time has passed is a quiet hum of agreement.

He doesn't ignore the other one, though.]

Gone, disappeared along with the kid we started with. The other princess is safe and back home while the rest of us have been searching for the both of them.

[Now is not the time to be standing around though, so he'll start to move off - allowing Fai to keep his arm if he wanted.] Let's find you something to wear so you aren't scaring the locals or worrying anyone.

[This is actually coming from the huge and intimidating looking one with the sword.]

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-03 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
[Fai isn't even sure how to take the news about Sakura and Syaoran. At this point it's not terribly surprising, given everything that's happened to the group so far, but the news about one princess being home and safe is tempered by the continuing search for the other. But considering what happened the last time he saw her....

The magician moves to alter his grip on Kurogane's arm, to wrap one of his own arms around it in order to use the ninja for support, but it isn't quick enough. All the fear and pain and heartbreak of the past several hours finally catches up to him and his knees give out, sending him slumping toward the wet cobblestones. He's emotionally exhausted.

King Ashura.

Kurogane maiming himself to save him....

Fai.]

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
[The whole thing was so complicated, from start to finish and beyond. He's not about to go tell everything but he can't keep all of it to himself either. There has already been so much that went unsaid, secrets and lies that were hidden from the start that only hurt them all further. While the truth didn't really help matters, it was a beginning - not an end. They could move forward and start to heal rather than step sideways as though driving a weapon deeper into their chest.

Kurogane is not the least bit surprised when Fai suddenly sank down. It was all extremely taxing having to deal with everything - from Fai's past to the recent events to information on the future. So he sighs and crouches down. Without much hesitation, his arm came around the mage, wrapped around Fai tight enough so that when Kurogane stood back up - the other man comes with. It's not the first time he's carried the mage around with one arm and may not even be the last. When the separate he's sure to have some of his own blood smeared into his clothes but he doesn't particularly care.]

Come on, there's an inn over there. We'll get a room and you can rest for a while. [He doesn't use the word 'sleep' because he's sure that Fai wouldn't be able to if he tried at this point.]
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-04 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[The last time Kurogane carried him like this, Fai had been unconscious and bleeding, slipping toward shock and probable death. Needless to say, he doesn't remember much of it. Usually when the bigger man picks him up it's to toss him over a shoulder, to carry him like a sack of potatoes (or more likely, a bothersome child). He doesn't usually mind that and he doesn't mind this now. He's not sure he could walk the whole way on his own even if he did mind.

Fai lets his forehead rest against Kuro's neck as the ninja walks, trusting Kurogane not to drop him. He doesn't say anything, doesn't even ask if Kurogane's been in this world long enough to have gained any of the currency to be able to afford a room.

Deep breaths. Focus on breathing and the rhythm of the ninja's steps. Let Kurogane handle the rest for a little while.]
bigdogninja: (What Now?)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
[For him it seems like such a long time ago that he's carried the other man around, how he'd kept Fai close even after he was sure the mage would live because it had been his responsibility. He doesn't forget that fact now either. Once again he will be the food source the other man needs along with whatever else.

It had been strange the days and months following Tokyo, Fai not being his usual talkative self and Kurogane had not picked up the slack. Mostly because the other man had been angry at him. Now though, it's different. Fai isn't necessarily angry this time. There's been too much to process and so Fai is merely taking it in, deciding how to continue forward.

So Kurogane is the one who fills the silence between them this time around.]

This world is called Konryu, this city is Keeliai - built on top of a giant turtle's shell. There are seven sectors all named after an element.
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-04 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Fai doesn't let himself break down in front of other people--least of all his traveling companions. Letting them see how badly he hurts would be letting them get too close. He can't do that.

Except Ashura had done that for him, hadn't he? Shown the others everything about him, every ugly, bloody, painful part of his past. All the things he'd never wanted anyone to know. All the reasons why getting too close to him is such a terrible idea.

He can't help any of that now. But maybe it's not such a bad thing to just be a mess for a little while, to accept that he's a mess and figure out how to deal with it instead of slapping on a smile and soldiering forward. Mokona must be nearby. Maybe Syaoran is too. They can regroup and find the others after they rest for a bit.

What a fright they must look, the towering ninja with his sword across one shoulder and a bloody magician slumped against the other. After a moment Fai even lets out a soft laugh, though he doesn't move.]

I think we're both scaring the locals, Kuro-puppy.
bigdogninja: (Mysterious Ninja)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
[It's way too late to not let anyone get close, it was even before Ashure showed them everything. Fai had tried to keep them all at an arm's length and essentially failed.

Kurogane had nearly always seen through the act Fai put on, the fake smiles and cheery disposition. Sometimes it was exactly Fai - sometimes he didn't always feel the weight of his burden and hide it with his playful behavior. Ever since the events at Celes, Fai was more true to himself. When he was happy he smiled and when he wasn't, he didn't.

That was how Kurogane liked things. Even if they were short two people they could still have moments where everything was fine and they were capable of enjoying the moment. All they had to do was get over the rough patches. He was sure there would probably be more in the future too but life went on.

Even as Fai said it, several of those natives skitter around the pair of them. They stop to whisper and point at them but Kurogane does nothing to ease their worry or concern.]

They'll live. [Probably. He doesn't miss the use of the nickname, a sign that Fai is not nearly as angry at him as he had once been.] Besides, there isn't exactly much we can do about it at the moment.
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-04 09:18 am (UTC)(link)
[It's really a toss-up whether Fai feels like giggling at the people eyeing them, or running over and explaining that everything's alright, nothing to see here, the puppy's bark is worse than his bite--really, he won't hurt anyone. But that's probably the exhaustion talking.]

I hope Mokona and Syaoran are getting by alright. I wonder what the time distortion's done to them?

[If Kurogane is from several months into Fai's future, there's no telling what time or world the others will remember last. As Kuro walks, Fai lifts a hand to wearily examine the blood splashed across the sleeve of his poor, fluffy white coat.]

...I'm glad you're not from my time.

[Since he feels like he's wearing half of the ninja at the moment. But Kurogane will probably understand that bit even without Fai verbalizing it. Kuro usually understands.]
bigdogninja: (Meditation Mode)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
[Definitely the exhaustion, though it isn't as though Fai hasn't tried to reassure the natives that Kurogane is usually no threat to them before. He was the one who intimidated people while the mage was the one who put them at ease.]

The kid's got a good head on his shoulders. And the damn manjuu is good at bouncing back. Both of them are fine wherever they are.

[There's also the chance that neither one of them ended up in this world. While Kurogane does not like the idea of them being left behind, there's very little he can do about it right now. He watches as Fai looks at the sleeve of his coat. Chances are they won't be able to save it unless someone knows a magic spell to get the blood out.]

This world doesn't seem bad, someone would have been around to help.

[And he does understand. They'd made it so that the world after Celes would be a safe one, one where they could recuperate if necessary. Luckily they don't have to find out just how helpful the natives would have been had Kurogane shown up bleeding to death from the loss of his arm.]
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-04 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[A peaceful world, a safe and restful world. If Kurogane has determined that this world, this city on the back of a giant turtle, isn't bad, maybe this can be that safe world for them. At least for a little while. They have to find Sakura, but they also have to figure out why they've been pulled from different times. What the source and the purpose of this time distortion is.

The first step will be finding Mokona and Syaoran, hopefully. After they've had a chance to rest.]

I'm beginning to think you were pulling my leg about this inn of yours, Kuro-pu. How much farther is it?

[Despite the weariness in his voice, there's just enough room for a teasing edge as well.]
bigdogninja: (What Now?)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
[He hasn't been here long enough to say that all of it is good but so far no one's tried to hurt them, the weather appears normal. Chances were that there was something here that wasn't right. It was how it was in nearly every world.

For now they can only deal with what's right in front of them.]

Shut up, idiot. [There's no real harshness to his tone, not even any of the usual mild annoyance that's typically there.] We're here.

[Seeing as how both of his hands are full, Kurogane put his right shoulder against the door and pushed it open. A couple of steps and they're inside the Midnight Hotel.

It doesn't take long for Kurogane to get them a room, though it might raise the question of where he got the money for it. When they reach the room, Kurogane moves to set Fai down on the bed before putting his sword down on the other bed in the room.]

I'm going to go start a bath.
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-04 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[The cruel name only draws a small smile from the magician, hidden against the ninja's shoulder.

Fai stays quiet while Kurogane deals with the man at the front desk, and he still doesn't ask about the money. He'll worry about that later, after he's pulled himself back together. For now he sticks to worrying about the simple mechanics of shrugging out of his bloody coat to keep from getting blood all over the nice clean bed. The poor garment's probably a goner. Fai lays it on the floor, bloody side up to keep it off the rugs, and then collapses back on the bed where Kurogane left him.

Staring up at the ceiling, he still sounds incredibly tired when he speaks again.]

That's very thoughtful of you, thinking of my poor nose like that. How long has it been since you've had a bath, anyway?
bigdogninja: (What Now?)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-04 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[That whole aspect of their lives don't really change much in the future. They're both still calling each other names and Kurogane gets irritated when Fai teased him.

When things aren't as raw, they'll talk about money and a variety of other things but for now there's more important things to focus on. He's busy making sure the water is warm enough to scrub away all of that blood and then lets it fill up. While it does, Kurogane merely wets a washcloth for his own use later. To clean up the blood that's been smeared over him from their physical contact.]

Probably not nearly as long as it's been for you. Which means you'll go first. [With the tub full, he returns to the room and eyed the coat on the floor. Definitely ruined. He held his hand out to Fai.] Come on, while you're getting clean I'll find you something to wear. There's a robe you can use until I get back.
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-05 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
[A bath does sound lovely, Fai has to admit, and not only because he's still liberally doused with Kurogane's blood. He hasn't had a chance to really relax since Infinity, and even that was a very loose definition of 'relax,' in between the endless succession of fights.

It occurs to him, staring up at the hand offered, that the ninja is being almost nice. Not that it's never happened before, but it's always a pleasant surprise. Pleasant enough that Fai doesn't say anything about it, lest Kurogane change his mind.

Maybe he'll tease him about it later.

Fai takes the hand and pulls himself back to his feet, wrapping himself around Kurogane's arm for support for the short distance between the bed and the bathroom. The sight of the bath makes him smile, small and weary but far more genuine than most of the smiles he's ever worn.]

Thank you.
bigdogninja: (Not Impressed)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-05 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
[He's sure that the last thing Fai wants is to be left alone with his thoughts while relaxing but Kurogane doesn't think that the mage could manage to be on his feet as he gets clean. Who knows how Fai had acted during those days when Kurogane was laid up after Celes. Obviously he was well enough to get a replacement arm for the ninja.

Best to take advantage of the niceness because it won't last forever. They both know that. Though Kurogane is less irritable these days, he is typically a grump at the best of times.

Right now he is aware that the mage is too exhausted to tease him about all of this.

For the moment he doesn't attempt to help Fai along other than to simply allow him to cling to his arm. Though he is prepared to catch Fai if necessary. He moves them into the bathroom and to the bath.]

Here. Get undressed. [Kurogane will stay until Fai is settled in the bath, be the physical support the other man needs.]
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-05 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
[It's hard to argue with Kurogane when he's like this. Being supportive. Being kind. He's usually such a grump that when he's not, it lends him an extra air of authority he otherwise lacks.

Again, Fai doesn't point this out. Still leaning against the ninja, he pulls his gloves off and casts them aside on the sink, then starts working on the fastenings of the shirt he wore when he left Celes the first time. There's a fair amount of blood on this as well. Hopefully he didn't get any of it on the bedspread.

He really doesn't care to look in the mirror and see how much is on his face.

When he gets to the boots he uses Kurogane's arm as an anchor to lower himself down to sit on the edge of the tub. Finally the pale, skinny magician is sitting on the edge of the tub in just his trousers--and the ever-present eyepatch, of course.]

I think I can handle it from here. Thank you.
bigdogninja: (Solemn Moment)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-05 09:47 am (UTC)(link)
[While Fai is peeling off most of his clothes, Kurogane turns to the side and allows his gaze to settle on the open doorway. Sometimes he forgets that not all people are comfortable with nudity as the ones of his world.

Still, he doesn't quite feel like he can completely abandon Fai to strip while in his current state. Probably a good thing he doesn't seeing as how there is a hand on his arm at one point.

When the mage speaks up, Kurogane looks back at him to give him a nod. He moves to grab a towel and the robe - putting both in reach of the tub for when the other man is done.]

I'll be back soon. Try not to drown while I'm gone. [With that Kurogane leaves the room, only to pick up the washcloth on his way out. He mostly closes the door behind him, leaving it open a tiny crack just in case.]
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-05 10:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh Kurgie, so full of compassion. Fai just smiles that same tiny smile as the ninja slips out the door, waiting an extra moment or two before he works up the motivation to strip the rest of the way.

The warm water feels heavenly. Not surprisingly, Fai's apparently been wearing an extra layer of grime beneath the bloody clothes. He's normally fairly fastidious, but constant travel and never ending battles will do that. For a time he focuses just on getting clean, scrubbing the dirt and the blood from his skin. The amount of blood that soaks into the water from washing his face is, as expected, a little horrifying. He really must have looked quite a fright out there in the city. He doesn't manage to quite get all of it off his face because he can't actually see what he's doing, but he's pretty sure that's the bulk of it.

A few minutes later he's curled up in the tub with his knees drawn up to his chest and his forehead resting on the cool porcelain of the side of the tub, crying. He'd told Kurogane once that he thought it took a good deal of strength to let oneself cry when it was needed. It doesn't feel much like strength though, crying alone in a bath in an unfamiliar world.]
bigdogninja: (Tea Is Served)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-07 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[He doesn't leave the room immediately but instead lingers with his back to the door, waiting for the sounds of movement before exiting.

Kurogane takes his time to run all of the errands just to give Fai time to not only get clean but to also process everything that's happened. In the span of a short period the mage has lost his brother, his king, his princess and his world. That's a lot for anyone to take in all at once. Who knew what the mage thought of Kurogane sacrificing his entirely left arm in order to save Fai's life. Obviously he is expecting to be hit for it again.

It doesn't take him all that long to pick up a clean set of clothes for the mage and a coat for himself. When he does finally return, Kurogane is sure to be loud about it - letting the door shut behind him with a thud. Fai's new outfit is set out on the bed while the ninja takes up a spot in front of the window, looking out to the street below as he waits. A cup of tea held in one hand.]

[Fai is simultaneously grateful for the extra time to pull himself together and not quite so thrilled about having to be alone with the contents of his head. Some of the information from the last several hours is a blessing--the knowledge that he's not the monster he's spent half of his life believing he was. It's going to take some time to really let that sink in, but every time his mind skips back around to that fact it's with a bone-deep sense of relief.

The rest....

By the time the sound of the hotel room door filters through to the bathroom, Fai is up and out of the tub, wrapped in the bathrobe Kurogane left for him. His face is scrubbed clean, his eye doesn't look quite as red from crying as it did ten minutes ago, and his hair is still damp and loose around his shoulders. With one last look in the mirror to make sure he doesn't look like a complete trainwreck (verdict: 25% trainwreck; he can work with that) he pushes his way out through the bathroom door and into the bedroom.

And he doesn't know what to say. What do you say after something like that? Especially when the life-altering events of the last day were months ago for Kurogane?

Well, that's his answer. You don't say anything about it, because Kurogane's already been there. No point in re-hashing the past for him, right?

Fai pads across the room on bare feet to examine the clothes Kurogane's laid out for him, not exactly smiling but not looking horribly out of sorts either.]

Not bad. I think you may have even guessed my size right, Kuro-pu.
bigdogninja: (What Now?)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-07 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Things are different here, Syaoran and Mokona aren't around to keep the mage company even if they're all just sitting around in silence. His own errands could have waited but they both know just how well the ninja can see right through the mage's facades. Having that one person just on the other side of the door while he tries to deal with his emotions is not always the best idea. It gives him at least a little bit of time alone because chances are they'll be sticking close most of the time.

When Fai exits the bathroom, Kurogane turns to look the mage over. Not looking for any traces of blood but at the overall emotional state of the other man. Evidence of crying, a hint of a real expression even though it's not a happy one. All-in-all, Fai's looked worse.

He's looked better too. Real smiles that came after the events of Celes and not looking as though he's lost nearly everything he ever cared about in one fell swoop.

Kurogane crosses the room and presses his cup of tea into Fai's hands, not giving the other man much choice but to take it or spill it on himself. Then reaches for a towel and drops it over the mage's head, using it to help dry some of that damp hair with gentle hands.]

It's not a guess - I remember. We've gotten new clothes in nearly every world we've been to.
flowrite: (Default)

[personal profile] flowrite 2017-02-08 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Yes, but you remembered. Another tally on the count of things Fai isn't saying aloud.

He manages to wrap his long fingers around the teacup Kurogane pushes at him before it spills on his bathrobe, and he's so busy focusing on the tea that he doesn't realize what Kurogane's doing with the towel until it's already on his head.

Fai freezes. Suddenly he's back in Shura, those hellish months without the kids, fighting for a cause that wasn't theirs and unable to understand a word the other said. Kurogane had dried his hair like this, back then, although it had been shorter at the time. He hasn't done it since. Four months in Infinity, barely speaking to each other. Fai keeping Kurogane at an angry distance--broken only by the need for blood, of course.

Speaking of which, he's going to need that too. Maybe not just yet, though.

After a moment or two to let the shock of Kurogane drying his hair settle, the tension slowly leaks back out of Fai's posture and he sips at the tea in his hands.]

Is there anything from the future I should know? Since there's no telling how long we'll be here....

[He keeps his voice deceptively level, almost light, as if he could be asking about anything from the future. A new hairstyle. A particularly interesting world. In truth, it's Kurogane drying his hair that has him wondering--has this closeness become common for them again? Has something changed?]
bigdogninja: (Solemn Moment)

[personal profile] bigdogninja 2017-02-08 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
[It's not something one forgets considering how often they have to get clothes. They're still traveling so there's still a need to blend in.

This though, this act is not exactly something he does a lot even now that they're on friendly terms again. In Shura they only had actions to express themselves because the language barrier had failed between them. Right now it's a symbol of a time when they didn't need words to communicate. This is his way of telling the other man that they don't have to talk about anything right now.

However it is also one of the few ways Kurogane knows how to take care other people. He isn't the sort of person who wraps his arms around them and hold them close in a hug of comfort. Touching others is not something he does much of but this is one thing he can do.

Especially being the one to initiate contact. Kurogane can carry any single one of them, he can catch them if they fall and barely struggle when others touch him but isn't about to offer much beyond that.

As he continues to dry the long blond hair, he takes notice that the mage is drinking the tea. Good, that is exactly why he handed it over. It's even sweetened beyond how Kurogane takes his beverages or food.]

Fei Wang Reed is dead. [So is the witch, but for now he doesn't say that.] Tomorrow we'll go to the Welcome Center. They have information on this world and can help us get jobs. Maybe some place other than this hotel to stay.

[Kurogane will tell Fai everything, but not today. Maybe not even tomorrow, he'll wait until the mage isn't hurting nearly as much.

Things between the two of them are not the same - not like they were at the start of the journey or even as it was during the time Fai was angry at him.]

[Fai's not complaining. The ninja behind him is comfort enough, especially after that terrifying moment when he'd found himself in this world alone and covered in Kurogane's blood, not knowing whether the other man was alive or dead. Kurogane can be silent as the grave when he wants to be but his presence can fill a room, and not just because of his size or his voice. It feels...

Safe.

The gentleness of Kurogane's hands is something Fai hadn't been expecting when he'd discovered it back in Shura. It's a sharp contrast to the same man who throws a punch at a friend just as easily to tell them they're being stupid. Fai's been on the receiving end of a few of those, too. He much prefers this end of the spectrum, unsurprisingly. Maybe not even simply because one hurts a hell of a lot less than the other.

But that probably has something to do with the reason he'd felt his heart break, seeing Kurogane maimed and still stubbornly working to pull him out of the ruins of Celes. And that, Fai can tell right now, is something he's not going to be able to work through tonight. Not with how badly his hands are suddenly shaking around the teacup.]

Okay.

[His voice seems very small again; he nods, like he has to reinforce the word.]

[There is a lot Kurogane can say with this one action, whether it be to comfort or to annoy the one he's doing it too. The last time his hand had been near Fai's head it had been to punish him for saying stupid things. No towel had been in the way then so he could feel how soft the mage's hair was. He's aware that the towel isn't going to instantly dry the other man's hair, especially not at the length it is now.

So when he feels that it's dry enough, he pulls the towel away - tossing it towards the open bathroom door. Then Kurogane takes the teacup back from Fai and sets it down on the nearest hard surface. Both hands rest on the other man's shoulders, steering him gently but also forcefully towards the bed.

This is all a bit strange, Fai letting him do whatever he wants without complaint either verbally or physically. It tells Kurogane just how out of it the mage is and he has to wonder if this is how the man was after Celes, in the time Kurogane had been unconscious and healing. He's never asked seeing as how Fai had others to help him through that time, Syaoran and Mokona, along with Tomoyo and the others from his homeworld. Not to mention seeing to Sakura's body and making deals with the witch.

Perhaps he'd been too preoccupied right away to dwell on the thoughts and events of what happened. All Kurogane is sure of is that the mage was all too ready to hit him when he woke up, things changed between them after that. Partially back to how it was before but yet different.

No matter what comforting is not exactly something Kurogane does a lot of, taking care of someone who needs comfort. A headpat and some words are all it takes most days. Except he's already said all he needed to regarding the events in Celes. Already he's done a lot more than he would do.

So he merely guides Fai to the right side of the double bed (Kurogane hadn't bothered specifying what sort of room they needed) and pushes him down to sit on it.]

Get some rest. [Kurogane moves to the left side after grabbing his sword, sinking down onto it with his back pressing up against the headboard - arms crossing over his chest. A clear sign that he intends to keep watch tonight.]
