TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!

Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:

1. Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
2. Tag around with everyone!
3. Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
4. Maybe even reserve so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!

1. A Chance Meeting at the Turtle's Head.
   Remember, being here causes a great sense of-- well, shall we say inner peace.
2. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
   Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
3. Have Met Before? Because I Could've Sworn I've Seen You In My Dreams.
   Have you wandered into the realm of Dreaming via an archway in Keeliai? Here, everything is shaped to your character's individual mind. Dreams can be shared between characters and will result in a meshing of minds. These dreams can be positive or negative, depending on your character.
4. Dramatic Chase Sequence!
   You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children, or even one of the newest editions to Keeliai's menagerie, an incredibly affectionate turtle the size of a minivan! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
5. Darker Days
   Malicant's flexing his chaos muscle and causing havoc on the shell! You could run into some evil cultists in a dark alley, try to infiltrate the possessed palace, or work on hacking the console function back from the technopathic baddie.
6. WILDCARD!
   Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun' esque experience. Please specify in your post!

[He uses that bit of distraction to take back his web shooters and puts them back down on the table. He doesn't have to turn to look out the window the way Miguel has; this is his mind and he knows exactly what's over there.]

I forgot what it looked like. [The buildings, which are decrepit and crumbling in Downtown are still pristine here, and the cars with their internal combustion engines polluting the air congesting the streets below. He almost wishes the view's real... because swinging through that was totally a trip.]

[He lets a small, easy smile cross his features as he moves back to his book and beanbag, sitting down in such a way that he can also see out the window.]

Been a while since you've gone there, huh? I know the feeling.

[Peter blinks... Then lets out a small sigh. Another someone from another time. One would think he'd be used to this by now.]

2009. [I think.] So... Are you from the past or the future?

[At least this time he's not waking up with someone else's wife this time...]

I'm from 2099. New York... hasn't looked like this in a long time.

I guess 90 years will do that.

...Are the cars flying yet?

Not like the early 21st century thought they would, but we don't use internal combustion engines anymore either. We use Maglev now.

In normal cars? And they don't need to run on rails?

It uses electromagnetic suspension, not electrodynamic suspension.

Well- Still, wouldn't having a system like that in place on a massive scale be kinda, y'know, disruptive? Erasing computer hard drives all over the place?

[Motions to the Manhattan outside.] That's part of the reason they built over this; it just wasn't cost effective to redo everything.

[As he says it, flickers of his New York ("Nueva York" if you want to be fancy--even though next to no one calls it that) project itself over Peter's, blinking in and out like a film reel stuck in the projector. It disappears before ever fully coming into view.

Shoots him a look.] Why the shock would we be carrying hard drives all over the place?

[Now that has Peter's attention. He's jumping up to his feet and moving to where he can get a better view of the window, but by the time he can really process what he's seeing, the image is gone.]

They built... over New York? Like- Like buried New York and built on top of it?

[That question throws him for a second and he has to quickly wave it off.] Look, that was just- It was the first example that came to mind. Plus there could be, I dunno, computers sitting too close to a window while a maglev car flies by.

They didn't bury it. Just built over it. The old Manhattan is called Downtown now.

We have specific Maglev levels. You can't just drive a car off the street.

[You're blowing his mind a little here, Migs. But he really shouldn't be surprised that so much could change in 90 years.]

Okay, so no flying cars, but everything's maglev now, my New York is no longer the New York-- Please tell me we've had alien contact by now.

[ofthefuture]

[It's Miggy. But only to his friends, and he doesn't quite remember including you on that list.]

If we did, it's been buried. Research into E.T. makes the corporations skittish, so there's next to no research into E.T.s. A friend of mine researches E.T.s on the side, and she's convinced Earth was, how'd she put it... "once crawling with them."

And if you believe those nutter Thorites, Thor was a God. Then again, they're also convinced Spider-Man's a harbringer of Thor, so they're clearly off their rails.

Wait... Thor's not a god? [Let them believe what they want about Spider-Man - Peter's used to it - but he's kind of been under the impression that Thor really actually is a god.]

...I also feel like I'm pretty sure I'd know whether or not I met an alien.

How should I know?! He hasn't been seen since the Heroic Age, unless you count the loon that took over the floating city of Valhalla, and I certainly don't. [He doesn't like being thrown out windows.]

Sometime before your time and mine, there was a catastrophe and a lot of the information we had before then, especially the Heroic Age, got lost. Xina's working with what we saved, and whatever twencen junk she can find.

[Wow. Clearly your timeline is more screwy than Peter's. And he feels like that's saying something.] Just so you know, I totally figured Thor was actually a god. My world's Thor, anyway.

[Peter's getting the distinct impression that this guy is not going to enjoy a Xena Warrior Princess joke, so he keeps it to himself.] So... Aliens are a- They're a thing. A real thing that happened.

[Shoots him a look.] Here I thought you were a man of science.

Shock if I know. Like I said, it's not exactly being researched.

[He makes a face at that.] I'm totally a man of science. It's just- He flies and controls the weather and he's just so straight out of a Norse mythology book.

[Anyway. Peter shakes his head a little, letting the alien issue drop.] Wow.

... Why do you keep saying "shock"?

So did the X-Man Storm if the vids are correct. Is she a god too?

[Rolls his eyes.] Because I have a dirty mouth, sue me.

No, she- She's a mutant, but- Look, I'm just saying I didn't have any reason to not believe him. [It helps that Thor was totally nice to him. Voted for him to be trained and all that.]

...How is that-- Why is that a dirty word? Do people not get shocked by anything in the future?
