Event | Hatching Days | December 25 - 27

Greetings, chelonauts! While things may seem down with the passing of the Emperor, hope and happiness have not been lost as two very important events are about to dawn on the city!

Christmas Presents
You read that right: presents! On December the 25th, Keeliai will wake up with a few provisions taken to ensure their comfort.

First of all, recognizing the fact that it's a Foreigner holiday, prior to her death Eshai had put plans in place to give gifts to the population as thanks for their continued support. Though she's no longer with the turtle, these gifts will be delivered on schedule by kedan dressed in silk fineries. There are little parcels delivered to each occupied suite that contain gifts of juulan, and delicious crystalline fruits, as well as a hand-written note by the late Emperor, personalized to the character if she knew or spoke with them, or generic if not.

Additionally, if the characters are known to be fighters/combatants they may also find a small weapon of some sort, chosen from the palace stores (eg: if your character seems the sort to use knives they might find a knife, an archer would get a bow, a swordsman a sword, etc, someone from modern times might get a firearm of some sort) and if the characters have a more defensive role, such as a healer/etc, they would find an assortment of salves or bandages and small talismans that act similarly to how the aura of the palace used to, allowing people to speak Malicant's name in a small radius as they're activated. These talismans, when worn, can also deflect a mortal blow from a character – but only once, and it will then be useless for either purpose.

Other charms received may include things that allow characters to breathe underwater, create shielding barriers that people can take refuge behind, fly or enhance strength for short periods, as well as granting control over a single element, but after usage they do need a twenty-four hour period to 'recharge' before they can be used again. As they must be 'activated' and 'deactivated' specifically, they will not simply cease to work if a character has dire need of them, but the observant may note that extended or prolonged use of a charm may coincide with further crumbling of the Palace of Landed Sky, suggesting a link between these magics.

Any one character would only receive ONE of these charms (though those considered to be in defense roles would get one of the above in addition to one of the talismans that allows people to speak Malicant's name) so please choose wisely. We will not be policing and/or approving these charms specifically, this will be conducted on a sort of honour system and we're relying on you guys to pick what's appropriate for your character and not run away with it. Additionally, if a character such as Superman receives a charm, he is free to gift that charm to someone with greater need of it. You're welcome to give your character a charm that bestows an -ability they already have if you're interested in giving it to someone ICly.

In summary, characters will receive:
A weapon that suits their combat style OR magical healing salves/bandages and a talisman that can turn away a fatal blow, as well as giving characters a small radius of space in which to say the name Malicant.
A charm that enables characters to fly, or control elements or be super strong. Choose a charm suitable to your character's abilities. We are not policing these so please be reasonable. Characters may gift charms to others.
Juulan (100) and crystalline fruits that are super delicious and keep forever.

Hatching Days!
Keeliai has a big bundle of joy coming its way!

In addition to the presents received, there is a very special thing occurring on the morning of the 25th. Perhaps in answer to all the turmoil that's been happening of late, the baby turtles have finally hatched! Each of them is in good health, and high spirits, and a feeling of serenity will envelop the Keeliai at the time of their hatching. The turtles are agile and active right from the get-go, and they will want to investigate everything they can possibly find, so egg-parents can expect visits from their particular baby, who can't comfortably fit through doors and are kind of oblivious to any property damage, so they'll need extra care and herding! It may take them a while to understand that doors are portals into other rooms, so carpenters will be experiencing a boom of business repairing multiple holes in walls.

The patterns of their minds will be more active now, but humans can still comprehend them if they're reached out to, words like love and trust and warm and happy will be constantly on their minds as they skitter about getting into trouble!

The turtles are at this age quite big enough to comfortably ride (their shells are roughly six feet wide and eight length-wise, and they're four or five feet high) and they don't seem to mind having people on their backs, so anyone is welcome to climb aboard, which will seem to delight them. Any turtles having passengers will find snowy inclines to slide down and will make a game of it.

As there have been no new turtles in literally billions of years, this is considered a momentous event. The kedan – who are still actively participating in their celebration of Eshai's life – will be throwing parties, giving away food and flowers (where did they get them mid-winter? A mystery!) and the mood of Keeliai will be hopeful, positive and uplifted.

The turtles will learn very quickly, and soon their vocabularies will be more complex, enough to hold a complete conversation with, albeit telepathically. The babies will be very curious and full of questions, the most common one being 'why?' or 'what?' as they learn. They will be able to grasp theories of complex mathematics and physics without difficulty, and will seem to have an innate understanding of most things upon the simplest explanation.

Although the turtles will be most attached to their individual parents, they will be full of affection for everyone else they encounter as well; foreigner or kedan alike, and they will be indiscriminate in showing that affection, which may include some rather accidentally forceful headbutts. They'll apologize profusely if they knock anyone on their rear!

And be mindful of any food you have laying around, because these little babies have healthy appetites and no idea of what exactly they like. They will literally try to eat anything, from the smallest of cookies to the largest of melons, plus anything in between. And we mean anything, because they are not hatched with the innate understanding that a shoe is, in all technicalities, inedible.

If you have any questions, there will be two posted sub-headers in the comment section! Otherwise, feel free to plot to your hearts' content.
