a man in a- well then

So right on the heels of that other idea...here's another one.

For those of you who don't remember, Callaghan is actually the villain in his canon, and is specifically coming from the canonpoint just at the peak of his stint- that is to say, he's pretty sure he's about to get Giant Robot Punched In The Face by Baymax for being a huge jerk after running out of microbots. He's managed to calm down and has begun to try to be 'normal' again, but now we have Krei in here, the guy whom Callaghan blames for the death of his daughter.

And we have Tadashi, who was an unfortunate casualty of Callaghan deciding to try and kill Krei, and whom Callaghan labeled 'a mistake' when confronted with such. OOCly explaining this as 'tell yourself something over and over and you'll start to believe it, and you'll start to believe it wasn't your fault, either'

...and we have Hiro. That kid's brother. Also responsible for the condition of the aforementioned Giant Robot.

IN LIEU OF DOING ANYTHING HEALTHY, SAY, TALKING OUT HIS FEELINGS (sorry Anton), Callaghan is going to dig out the Yokai mask from its hiding place and go out on the town, looking for/causing a bit of trouble. He'll be relying on stealth as he had in the movie, but with far fewer microbots than he had then, he can't quite be as aggressive; the only deaths I have in mind are maybe a few NPCs who don't back off, but it is absolutely not the focus of the plot.

The focus of the plot is an old man committing a few theft-crimes, maybe stopping a few others, and generally becoming a rumor-whisper because no, seriously, are we sure that's a Foreigner because they can change their form but they're made of metal?

OOCly, I'd like to keep him from being caught/unmasked (though him having a Very Narrow Escape is fine), for now, but I'm willing to discuss things with people who really really want to do it. BUT anyone who wants to come across a Yokai, poke here. c: Quick, someone try to be his friend!]

to no one's surprise I would love to get China in on this

...mostly to see what happens? Whether it's violence or a surprising lack thereof.

I have to dash but please consider my interest highly registered

Any of the above, honestly! I'm p sure if she caught that kind of rumor she'd be all kinds of interested, and if Cal tells her, well. There's all kinds of uses for someone like that.

...And also blackmail. Who wouldn't he want to find out about this...

Well she's not gonna actually use it unless she needs the metaphorical cattle prod but uh

Hey, tvshowlogic says that Sokka can knock people out with Boomerang. I think we can mix movielogic and tvshowlogic to end up somewhere in the middle.

Compromise!!

I - do have a stupid idealistic teenager who might for real try to befriend someone in a wacked-out costume like that, if you think that could go somewhere OTL Though not if he catches them committing an obvious crime, so.

Alternatively, Yosuke could catch him in the act and maybe inadvisedly sic a ninja demon on him without managing to catch catch him, or he could get victimised somewhere along the line because he's a newbie in town and just that chronically unlucky, or... basically whatever (if anything) sounds good, tbh :')

butting in here sorry but Since Yosuke and Krei are roomies, could we swing it so Yosuke tells Krei about his encounter with the strange masked dude, assuming this goes down? This would be a perfect solution to some plans we were making with Yokai and Krei 8D

I'd be 100% cool with this, fwiw!

Soooooo... I play a detective here. A detective who is canonically both a genius and stupidly persistent, and who would be very interested in a rumour about a kedan criminal person who is apparently made out of metal.

I'd love to play that out, especially to avoid outright catching/unmasking, because I really enjoy frustrating the hell out of my characters. >_>

Let's figure stuff out! :3 I am always in favour of more CR. Anton and Callaghan seem like pretty good friends, so Skulduggery's probably heard of or at least seen Callaghan around the Hotel.

For the record, Skulduggery wouldn't be setting out to arrest anyone, what with the only form of law enforcement/prison being the Snakes. He'd take things as they come, and be more likely to confront Callaghan than accuse him of wrongdoing - so long as no one gets killed.

Did you have a last clue or a timeline in mind?

There was that Bentley log. /ponder./ Backdating a first meeting can totally be a thing.

WELL ON THE THOUGHTS FRONT... Skulduggery's canonically a lot like Sherlock Holmes, in that he can look at a man drinking in a pub and tell him exactly what he did the day before. Partly, I think, because he doesn't have anything physical limiting his thought processes anymore, so he just thinks really fast, and can put together complicated puzzles in seconds. SO. Should a Bad thing occur that pretty clearly stops Yokai from any more criminal activity, Skul would keep going until he knew who Yokai was just as a matter of pride, but he would probably even forego confrontation at that point because criminal with morals can't be all bad, etc. He'd just... keep an eye on things after that.

As for clues! Damaged microbot or two sounds good, though he wouldn't go public with them. He'd take them to someone he knows is mechanically-minded and ask if they look familiar, which I think at this point would most likely be Tony? Callaghan can sweat another day. But the aforementioned observation skills means Skul would definitely pick up on subtleties of body language and voice, providing he actually met Yokai first, and that's something I would want to play out because handwaving stuff like that really just leads to a lot of confusion in my experience. But maybe he meets Yokai because he's working out places Yokai is most likely to hit, and is patrolling them? Like, he asks around the kedan to figure out where Yokai's been, and maybe using information Tony gives him about the microbots figures out what kind of materials Callaghan's going after?

He also wouldn't immediately assume Foreigner, so seeing Callaghan at the Hotel after a potential meeting would be a lucky coincidence and he most certainly would not jump up going 'I FOUND YOU' or anything like that.

tl;dr don't mind me just gleeing over getting to play my detective being a detective

I'm definitely willing to take a Cal in there! Want to backdate to just after the Bentley got returned, maybe just as Anton starts work on the garage?

Do you have Tony's player on plurk? We can coordinate there as things regarding microbots become relevant.

That... depends. Skul's been known to get physical if it's like the second or third time the same criminal is getting away from him frustration and pride yo and he would take advantage of the magic at his disposal. Having said that, he wouldn't be aiming to hurt anyone even if it did come to that - and we can pretty easily stop it from coming to that by just having the one nearly-catching thing. Which makes more sense anyway.
