Hi guys! JC again, with a follow up on that shelter thing I posted about last month....

It's open! For those who may not have seen the post/weren't around, Erskine has opened a homeless shelter/safe haven in the Earth Sector. It's ostensibly for kedan who're down on their luck, although he won't turn away Foreigners who need a temporary place to stay. If there are extenuating circumstances he'll probably let them stay indefinitely, although that's the kind of thing they'll have to work out IC.

What does this mean for you/your character? Well, there are a few actual employment positions available--Erskine will be living/working at the shelter full time but he can't be everywhere at once, so another body to be a kind of assistant manager would be great. The shelter will also need volunteers--they could use a cook, people to help do laundry/clean, people to teach self-defense or employment skills, and of course medical help.

So basically if you'd like to have your character work/volunteer at the shelter, either feel free to poke me OOC here or on the info page, or send me a DW PM. If you'd like to work something out IC I'm going to be tossing up an open log here in the next day or so for the shelter (work has been kicking my ass this week, I'm so sorry for slow tags right now ;~; ).

Hrm, well, Tektite has just arrived, doesn't need actual lodgings as she doesn't need sleep or food, but she wouldn't mind a place to do something at or at least be able to chill on the roof. Only problem is how much Erskine might need a giant dog like creature for his shelter, lol. She's got the social skills of a potato and her self defense training would be pretty specific to large dog beasts.

If he needs any heavy lifting or sleepless guard dogging done, she's damn good at that! If not, don't mind me, heh.

Oh he doesn't mind giant dog creatures at all, one of his best friends is a Hellhound so :)

As long as he's aware that she isn't hostile he'll let her hang around as much as she wants, provided there's no scaring away of the kedan who need the shelter of course. She's free to chill on the roof or hang out inside, and some night-time guard dogging would actually be very welcome!

Feel free to handwave any of this if you need to, or like I said I'll be tossing up an open log here shortly :)

If need be she would stay out of the way but she's perfectly friendly to those that aren't trying to cause her harm. Also a total softy for children. Being the night guard would work well for her, she can see excellent in the dark and it would help keep her from getting too bored.

I rather rp stuff out if it's all the same to you! If we have a basic idea of what she'll be doing I can go on the assumption that's what's true if the scene takes a while but I'm more than happy to rp out the intro and such.

Sounds good to me! I'm going to try to get the log up either tonight or this weekend at the latest, and I'll put her down on the shelter's info page as nighttime security :)

Brigid needs a job. She's a damned good administrator and wouldn't mind doing charity work.

I was actually going to poke you about having him call her over the network! His idea for the trade-off he mentioned was to teach a few lessons of self-defense at the shelter. I can have him still call her and we can have them discuss things from there?

(Seriously if she can do the paperwork she's super hired, he's god-awful with paperwork XD; )

She'll gladly volunteer the time to teach self-defense.

(She not only can, but she likes paperwork. How weird is that?)

(He has the attention span of a five year old when it comes to reading Important Documents, and his last job consisted of mountains of paperwork. He's so done with it. He took over the books at the Hotel for a while from Anton and spent most of his time doodling little pictures and scrawling things in various languages in the margins XD )

So before I have him call her, just so I know, would Brigid want the assistant manager job? She can teach a few lessons on the side if she likes, but it sounds like she'd be a great fit for the actual full time job :)

Since her degree is basically useless on the turtle, she will definitely take the assistant manager job. Translating is her real passion anyway. So long as she has time for that, she'll be fine with working just about wherever.
