Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...

[ Leo laughs awkwardly, hands buried inside his pockets as he looks up at the tall figure with squinted eyes. His brows were just slightly furrowed together, showing concern towards his boss' sudden appearance ]
I've been here for a few days now, so I have most things settled. Still getting used to the whole "living on the back of a turtle" experience but it's not so different from home I think. [ shrugs ] Maybe even a little more peaceful.

[Klaus couldn't help but agree life on the turtle was considerably more peaceful than back home in the city. But then, so were most war zones, so that wasn't saying much.]
I've been here a little over seven months. [He rubbed the back of his neck, looking sheepish about this particular admission. He'd been here a while.]
Still, it's a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Have you acquired lodgings? Are you eating alright?

[ it wasn't as if he had expected anyone from Libra to be in a similar situation as he was...although Klaus sure adjusted well. ]
Seven months... [ he mouths a 'wow', unsure what else to say. Seven months on his own? Leo could barely begin to imagine his boss separated from his teammates for such a long period of time
-it must be quite lonely. ]
A-and yes, I found lodgings, kinda! Also eating, so it's fine ahaha-. [ a grumble from his stomach says otherwise, causing Leo to give an embarrassed smile.
Fine. So maybe he spent the little remaining money he had a few days ago. And maybe he's been living on something that doesn't look like coffee (but tastes like it) and some leftovers for the last two or three days. ]

[Klaus managed to disguise a chuckle as a cough. He'd missed all of his teammates. He missed Gilbert. He sorely missed his family back in Germany. Not being able to call them over the holidays had left him feeling melancholy. He knew it was selfish, but seeing a familiar face was a welcome reprieve.]
...And that counts, yes. For yesterday.
[His tone was stern. Not necessarily reproachful, but it was evident he wasn't going to leave room for argument as he passed over the parcel of pastries.]

[ Embarrassed and ashamed of himself, Leo picks a pastry from the bunch, nibbling it quietly. It was delicious, yes, but the kind gesture did leave a small pang of guilt inside. Klaus was always so kind to him- it would be hard to repay him. ]
That would be nice! [ he gives a small smile, taking a moment to take another bite from the pastry ] You must have a lot of stories of this place, right? It would be fun to hear them- if you don't mind, I mean.

Is the thing with the soul jewelry true? [ he lifts his sleeve slightly in order to reveal a simple bracelet, dotted by the presence of a single, blue gem. ] I mean, the Welcome Center explained it to me but...it's a little hard to believe, isn't it?

It's hard to believe, yes. [That had been the thing that had troubled Klaus most of all on his arrival. As far as he was concerned, tampering with a soul was a very dangerous thing to do.]
...But it is true. It initially caused me some degree of discomfort, as well as limiting my powers for a time. Have you felt any side-effects?
[He led the way round a corner to one of the entrances to the Midnight Hotel. He'd have to ask Anton about some of the magic Anton used on the place - God knew Libra could use some of these conveniences.]

[ a light chuckle. Nothing compares to the discomfort brought on the first weeks of having his stupid eyes. ]
My eyes are a little weird though, I gotta admit. Kind of like if they weren't working to their full potential. It's a little weird, after being used to them for so long. I guess I'll just get used to them again.
[ his voice trails off, unsure of what else to say. he did find it weird that these people were able to mess not only with his soul, but with his eyes as well. and by weird, he meant somewhat annoying. ]

[ eyes open ever so slightly in amazement at the scenery that was the Midnight Hotel. It reminded Leo of some of the places he used to deliver to when he worked at Dogimo's-- absolutely stunning.
The amazement passes quickly though, and he goes back to paying attention at his boss' questions. ]
Ah- uh, well, it's been...a bit hard, I guess. I mean it's not easy to wake up and find out you've been taken to another world and hey, it's on top of a turtle! At least when I moved to Jerusalem's lot I kinda knew what I was getting into, y'know?
[ he chuckles, not wanting to tell Klaus how lonely he felt during the past week. It felt selfish to even be glad about seeing a familiar face. ]

After seeing the giant tentacles around Jerusalem's Lot, the giant turtle isn't much of a surprise. But I understand exactly what you mean. And yes, I'm doing quite well, thank you. It's been a much needed break from the chaos of the city, but...
[But at the same time he was terribly homesick. He shook his head.]

I concur. I'd grown used to our morning routine. Hopefully I won't be caught off guard when I return.
[He rubbed his chin thoughtfully at Leo's second question as he led him to the kitchen.]
Different from Jerusalem's Lot, certainly. There isn't as much violent crime - the four families seem good at keeping things in check, though I've heard talk of a proper legal system being implemented. The Kedan place a great deal of emphasis on community, and expect we foreigners to contribute. As it stands, the turtle is in some manner of coma. For a time it was sinking, but we coordinated an effort to move him to shallower waters and we are currently anchored off the coast of Tavimbi.
[He put the kettle on the stove, and selected a few canisters of various blends.]
The city of Hatal has been most gracious in allowing the emergency docking and welcoming us in visiting their city. And while I doubt you'd ever purposefully commit a crime, it would be prudent to ask about their laws before heading in. They treat all crimes as equal, and punishment is left up to the one wronged.
[He set the canisters down in front of Leo. One was a basic black tea, another green. The rest were various floral blends, and one carried the scent of sweet spices.]

Instead, he nods every once in a while, hoping to give the red head the feeling that he's understanding everything. It's a good thing that his eyes are closed; a blank stare is nearly impossible to be noticed.
The info about the city of Hatal, though, piques his interest. All crimes as equal? Punishment left up to the victim? Who made this law?? The babylonians? ]
Do you know any of the laws? I mean I don't really want to get in trouble for something strange like, I don't know...walking on the wrong sidewalk or something. [ an awkward laugh. He is so confused ]
[ oh- right, the tea. Leo inhales, taking in the aromas from the canisters. They all smelled so good...it was hard to decide. But it's better to go with what he knows. ]
Black tea sounds good, I think. [ smile ] Do you need any help, Mr. Klaus?

[ it's surprising, how his boss' attitude suddenly changed from something less...leader of Libra-ish. Though it makes Leo smile- he guesses that Klaus is probably holding himself back.
He takes up on the others request, taking the kettle with a covered hand ( oh, the magic of long sleeves ) and turning the burner off. ]

Hatal is, for starters, underground, though it puts the one in Montreal to shame. It's carved into the very mountain and is a sight to behold. If nothing else, it's worth a visit for the spectacle alone.
[He smiled fondly. He'd enjoyed his escapades there for the most part, and while he was seeking a way to wake TuVishan, it had been nice just to see the sights.]

[ Leo's expression brightens up considerably at the news of having such interesting sights to explore- his photographer side is itching to go out and explore again.
Well, until his camera stopped working, at least. It would have been nice if he had been brought to the place with his camera charger but hey, can't have everything, right? ]
I actually haven't had much time to explore. I've been helping out at the Welcome Center and well, actually today I was kind of exploring before I saw you. [ aka before his camera was nearly stolen ] It all seems so amazing...it's still hard to believe, and it's already been a week.
