Update: Move that turtle!
Hello, chelonauts! This post is a collection of info/ooc sign up for Operation: Move the Turtle.
The mods have set the ultimate landing location for the turtle at Tavimbi, which they have deemed as a mountainous land yet unexplored by kedan. (No kedan, in other words, remembers ever having landed there; they just know that it is mountainous.) ICly, the choice to go in this direction will be made by convenience -- the fact that it would be easier to work with the ocean currents already flowing in this direction rather than against them, and the promise of possible undersea mountain ranges that would be good for parking a very large turtle bus.
There's still time to tag in to the ic log, but under the cut is what I've collected so far that characters plan to do. Please feel free to use this list to coordinate with others for ic shenanigans! I'll be putting up an ic catch-all log for that soon.
If your character wasn't able to make the meeting, these jobs/needs would have been publicized in one way, shape, or form, so please let me know what your character would volunteer to do. All roles can (and ideally should) have multiple people, so also feel free to sign up for more than one as long as it wouldn't mean your character would be needed in two places at the same time.

Thought of something else that might be helpful? Not sure what I'm talking about with some of these jobs/needs? Poke the question thread!
Note: Just because I have marked something as "more needed" and not others not does not mean that others would not be welcome in unmarked categories. The marked ones may just be a little more pressing/definitely require multiple people to accomplish.

Questions?

And . . . I'm sure that Erskine will appreciate it? XD;

He can also speak with the Metalworkers on behalf of the foreigners, since he worked with them during the drought and helped develop some desalinization stuff.

The Metalworkers may be okay at this point; they would have collaborated through Kaiba. But touch base with the player and see what's up.
Edit: He may also want to collaborate with Pepper, as she is handling a lot of the communication logistics between teams.

Solomon might be able to provide magical help moving the turtle, especially if he can manage to access the turtle's shadow. Since he can create shadow-constructs, that might be of help with steering.

And the second sounds good too! Will add both.

I would like it if another PC took lead on the steering, only because mod, but if no one else signs up at least there's an IC contingent.

I understand you guys hesitating to take lead on anything because mods, but considering that the plot is being led and organized by others, I don't feel like there would be any problem with you guys taking point on a couple of the smaller projects. You'd just be leading that area -- there's still a lot for everyone else to do and take lead on. Up to you.

Aya's also incredibly versatile in what she's capable of, both in terms of technological preparation & her green lantern abilities...so if you need extra people anywhere, she'll jump in.

I'll add you to the ship. You may want to connect with Shay's player.

I need extra people all the places, but a couple areas where she might be especially useful could be developing ways to steer as well as anchor the turtle. (As well as actually helping to anchor the turtle when it comes time, because well, we're anchoring Connecticut here.)

If there are others who have yet to sign up and want in on those spots, you can prioritize them, since I already have Aya doing the star charts. Otherwise, I'm in.

Not turtle big, but still. He can help with moving the toitle via tech means.

I'm not sure I'm understanding the hound senses. How might those help?

I was thinking potentially that those who are scouting could travel along with Shay and use the ship as a point to return to when they get tired or start feeling the effects. They will have a limited range of what they can see in front of them, but that's still advanced notice -- and if my understanding of range is right, it should be pretty decent advanced notice.
This kind of range is also why the scouts would probably need to be pretty fast/create some kind of communication chain in order to get information back to the rear of the turtle where the movers are.
Does that help?

Unless you could see her scouting that way, it might be best to start thinking about a landing party for when they get there? (I have no idea what they'll run into or who will be inhabiting the land, in full disclosure.)

Great, though -- I will get rid of the question mark next to his name. He may want to touch base with Kaiba and the Metalworkers.

Moving: He's fast, and so he'd be down for helping keep the information flowing from one side of the turtle to the other. Turtle express!

"the diplomats of Keeliai will be essential to securing us permission of any coastal cities that would be willing to temporarily accommodate us."
Is this still a thing that's happening? Am I just reading this wrong? Erskine wouldn't have volunteered for something that involved only talking to the kedan. Not after everything that's happened >>;

No, I did originally mean talking to the kedan. Like I mentioned up above with Valdis, I'm not aiming to plan anything for after the turtle is anchored. I don't know anything more about Tavimbi than I'm giving you guys. I don't know if there will be people there (though suspecting there will be), if they'd be friendly, how far the turtle will be from shore, etc. My understanding is that the mods will be giving us that kind of info as we reach there.
(I will say in that light, like with Valdis, this may be something everyone may still want to think/talk about with each other. I think preparing for diplomacy may still be good as Klaus was indicating. I'm only plotting the move itself.)
In that light, is there anything else that Erskine might want to help with?
