TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!
Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
    → Tag around with everyone!
→ Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
→ Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
  1. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!

  2. Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?

  3. Where There's A Will, There's A...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...

  4. SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE!
The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.

  5. WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options can also be what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting, and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!

Silencing? Ah ... crap.

[Irvine drops his chin and tugs on his ponytail. He hadn't even noticed, either because he's just that tired or because he's still not used to the feeling of being junctioned all the time. It's not ingrained enough for him to notice when it's gone, yet.

[But now that Zell's brought it up, and Irvine focusses on his junctions, he can feel it too. There, but not quite in reach, like when their abilities were sealed in the castle.]

Maybe there's someone we can ask about it. Assuming they're people, here.

[Guess who hasn't really stopped to talk to anyone. Or even find out if they talk. He thought they were evil junctioned constructs, okay.]

Gotta be some somewhere, I figure. Too bad when they dumped me in the street they didn't bother to leave me a damn map or anything.

[Sure, Zell knows in a general sense that the best plan for now is to head towards a place that seems important, or helpful, or both but he's not really sure how to fathom that out without knowing the first thing about where they are now.

He glances around, then, scratching the back of his head as he tries to figure out where to start.]

Maybe...they gotta have a library or something somewhere, right? If they're going to have maps anywhere, it'd make sense for them to be there.

[Or failing that, at least something that would let them get more of an idea of where they are, not that he's at all being driven by his history nerd side there.]

[Libraries. Heh. Strange, strange places for someone like Irvine. Sure, Galbadia Garden had a history section ... a military history section. A military history section which painted Deling like a saviour. Even in Garden, Galbadian libraries were a winner's trophy. He'd been surprised to see fiction in Balamb Garden's shelves.

[His mind's wandering. Irvine only realises because he chuckles at the thought of Zell among the stacks, accidentally knocking things over. Possibly getting that cute girl with the pigtail to help clean up. Zell had better have gotten with her, when he got back, or Irvine might have to start wondering about his sexuality. Zell with a crush on Squall?

[Irvine laughs harder. Oh yeah, he's had it. He thunks his head back against the wall with a final sighing chuckle, and tilts his hat back so the brim doesn't get crushed under the back of his head.]

Library it is. I'll nap while you look, how about that? Unless you want me to start seeing naughty things in the pages.

[And he grins, unrepentant.]

[That sudden outburst of laughter earns Irvine a very intent stare as Zell tries to determine if this means he's actually cracked and what the hell he's supposed to do about it beyond the (admittedly very tempting) possibility of knocking him out and dragging him along behind him.

That might earn a few too many suspicious looks. Better play it safe for now.]

Yeah, yeah. State you're in I wouldn't bank on you finding anything anyway.

[And of course, leave it to Irvine to be the one to make the leap from library to secret porn. Zell doesn't even bother dignifying that part with a response, though he does deign to attempt to help Irvine stand.

That, he has good reason for.]

Come on. Last thing we need is to get separated before we know where we are.

[Irvine might not have been his first choice but he's here and that's better than nothing and Zell will take that.]

bit of a timeskip okay?

Don't be mean. I'm great at finding things.

[Irvine accepts Zell's help, resting Exeter on his shoulder once he's standing and, admittedly, leaning on Zell's shoulder for a moment until he can be sure he hasn't ruined his balance by giving in to the fatigue. If he crashes into a few things maybe it'll help Zell look good for the local ladies. Assuming they're real. Never let it be said that Irvine couldn't be a fantastic wingman.

[It turns out there is a library. One of the locals explains that it used to be the palace library, but the palace was deconstructed to make room for a new sector, Sky. The library itself is still standing, in the process of being catalogued, and the moment Irvine spots a vaguely comfortable chair he flops back into it, stretching his legs out and resting his head back.]

This is really surprisingly comfortable.

sure!

[personal profile] zellousfists 2015-07-29 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Which is why I'm the one who found you.

[There's no real heat in Zell's snark, nothing that suggests any real grudge in having to help Irvine. He's not really thinking of it in the same way Irvine is - and even if he were, it's unlikely he'd notice anyone's interest in him unless they spelled it out for him first - but in the end, Irvine is a comrade and friend and Zell doesn't have it in him to let him down.

Not intentionally, at least.

It figures, of course, that Irvine collapses into the first possible napping spot he sees; Zell's not even so mad about that except he's not sure which section they're even in or how far away the sections they need might be. On the other hand, doesn't seem like Irvine's planning on moving too far and he'll probably hear any confrontation so maybe it won't be so bad.]

Then stay put while I figure something out.

[Which means hitting up the desk to ask after a map or anything at all useful for two guys lost and in need of answers and a space to crash. The former prove to be a little too vast or wrongly-detailed for their immediate needs but he does walk away with an answer towards the latter, something he seeks to signal to Irvine with a gentle kick at his leg.]

We're rollin' out. Got a new place to find answers.

[In that time Irvine has slumped deeper into the chair, his hat over his face and Exeter on his lap. Even asleep, he holds it ready. In Galbadia, a soldier's best friend is either his sword or his gun.

[The kick wakes him easily and he props up the hat with a thumb to the brim, looking blearily out at Zell.]

Man, if ten minutes is all you need, I'm going to have to give you some pointers before you make your move on that pretty pig-tailed librarian.

[Please tell him it was more than ten minutes. He's almost willing to give up ... well, maybe his left arm ... for a bed. He stifles a yawn and gets unwillingly to his feet, shoving back the hat, Exeter resting on his shoulder.]

Where are we headed?

[personal profile] zellousfists 2015-07-29 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
[The comment about the librarian back home earns a blank look as Zell opens his mouth to respond then decides against it, shaking his head a little. He has no idea what she has to do with anything here and right now he has more important things to think about.

Not that it should come as any surprise that he doesn't think about these things unless he has to and even then it takes a push.]

Apparently there's a place that deals in taking care of all of us who show up here without knowing how. Guess this must've been going on for a while if they need a place just for that but works out for us, I guess.

[And with that, he'll usher Irvine out so they can head for the supposed Welcome Centre. He's not sure what it'll entail but if it's even close to anything like Garden, it's the best place for them.]
