It was still hard to grasp the idea that this place he'd found himself in was resting on the back of some giant beast. Many times over Haytham had scoffed at what he'd been told about it all, thought those explaining everything to him to be a bit slow in the head. Nothing of that sort was possible; it was merely a children's story.
And yet, standing at the turtle's head, Haytham found himself reeling as everything became much more real.
When he'd first reached his destination along the walkways, the Templar had been thrown off by what he was seeing, torn between feeling as though he'd been drugged or that perhaps he was dreaming. It had taken the better part of a half hour for him to come to terms with it and now, standing there staring out over the water, Haytham was trying to come to terms with the fact that he was a long way from home. Not that he hadn't realized that before; no, he wasn't that deluded.
But now it weighed heavy on his shoulders and he found himself wanting nothing more than to wake up from this rather uncomfortable dream.
That voice is all too familiar to him and he turns to face the younger man, momentary surprise on his face.
"Shay."
He's quick to school his expression, arms going behind his back as he takes in the other, gaze sweeping over him before settling on his face as the grand master frowns slightly.
"And here I was beginning to think I was alone in this forsaken place."
"Two months, give or take." He replies, shrugging a shoulder gently. "They say the phenomenon that brings us here can bring us from different points in time." It's said, matter-of-factly. "What's the last thing you remember, sir?"
"I see." Even more unsettling than the fact that they were on the back of a giant turtle, honestly. "You persuaded me to spare the Achilles's life. I shot him and we left him in that god forsaken place to return home." Haytham pauses before glancing away from Shay towards the water again. "You?"
"Not much, surprisingly. That happened just before you came to find me and talk me out of killing your former teacher," Haytham said in a drawl though he was a bit wary of this entire situation. Why were they from different points in time? How was such a thing even possible? "What I cannot understand is how you have been here two months and yet I was just with you prior to my arrival here."
"I don't pretend to understand it, sir. There's a higher power at work, here." He frowns. "Magic in nature. And I wouldn't say such a thing unless I experienced it myself."
He shakes his head. "Keelial is... an interesting place."
