Test Drive Meme | March 2015

TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!
Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
    → Tag around with everyone!
→ Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
→ Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
  1. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!

  2. Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?

  3. Where There's A Will, There's A...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disppears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...

  4. SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE!
The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.

  5. WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!

Shay Cormac | Assassin's Creed: Rogue | #2 - Fire Region

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Okay, this was bad. How was he supposed to know that the thugs he bumped into wanted to give him a piece of their minds? All he did was accidentally shove one of them back a few paces.

He's currently up on the rooftops of an industrial area, jumping from roof to roof, trying to evade his pursuers as best he can. Realising they're just about managing to keep up, the Irishman grunts, dropping down to the streets, continuing his run, aiming for the more populated areas.

At least there he could blend into the crowds. It didn't explain why he couldn't see as well as he used to... Or where he was.

That could wait, though.]

Mind if I drop in?

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Valdis noticed the man and his pursuers running across the rooftops, slightly frustrated that the Snakes had taken to patrolling said rooftops in the first place. She dropped to the street, following the chase from the ground and when the man finally had the sense to try to find a crowd by leaving the rooftops, she caught up and tapped his arm.

"This way," she hissed, pointing to a back alley.
irishthor: (masked)

Not at all.

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Now this was a thing...

Shay was a pretty swift runner, but this person had caught up to him without so much as breaking a sweat. That was... well, impressive.

Taking the initiative, he stops, turns abruptly, and darts into the back alley, pressing against the wall. He almost seems to melt into the shadows, as though it was a second home to him.
redlightgreenlight: (cocky)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
She spun around and ducked into the alleyway after him, also using the shadows to her advantage, allowing them to wrap around her form and hide her from view. The Snakes ran past the alley without even looking and from their angry shouts, they were quite frustrated that they had lost their prey. She waited until their scents and voices disappeared into the crowd before emerging from the alley, highly amused by the incompetence of her enemy.

"What did you do to piss them off?" She asked the stranger, turning back to look at where he was hiding.

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Shay lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding as the men thunder on past the alley opening. He relaxes a tad, but not fully. He still didn't know where he was.

"They didn't take too kindly to me bein' a wee bit confused as to where I was." He explains, voice thick and accented. Irish, if you knew that sort of thing. "I stumbled, bumped into one of 'em, they got pissed off and chased me."

He shifts, peering out of the alley.

"Thanks. Ya really saved me."
redlightgreenlight: (Kinda Happy)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"The Snakes don't take kindly to us foreigners in general," she explained, "You're lucky they didn't catch you." She smiled at his thanks, "It was no problem, I enjoy messing with the Snakes, their leader and I don't get along."

She held out her hand, "You must be new here, my name is Valdis, welcome to the beautiful city of Keeliai."
irishthor: (cool)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
A snort. "They'd be hard-pressed to catch me, even without me knowin' the lay of the land." He smirks. "I'm a pretty slippery bastard when I need t'be."

He considers the hand for a brief second, before taking it. "Liam O'Brien. A pleasure." It stings to use Liam's name like this, but he woke up in an alleyway when last he knew he was on the Morrigan. Maybe it was time for a bit of caution. Besides, if these people were Assassins, they'd probably call him out on his lie straight away.

Until then, he'd have to pretend to be his best friend.

"Keelial, aye?" He looks out on the street again, frowning slightly. "Now, I ain't much of a navigator, but I'd say that's nowhere near the port of New York, is it?"
redlightgreenlight: (expressionless)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Something felt off about him, but the feeling wasn't strong enough for her to pinpoint it, so she simply ignored it, for now.

"Nice to meet you, Liam," she replied, "And to answer your question, no, Keeliai isn't anywhere near New York. Keeliai is on different world entirely." She sighed, "This world is strange, the local people are called Kedan, they are shapeshifters, then there are the Foreigners, people like you and I, who were brought here from other worlds."
irishthor: (neutral)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Other worlds?" Shay asks, sounding incredulous... But just a tad. He's seen and heard some crazy things since he started out with the Assassins. But other worlds? That's a bit too far.

"I think I've been hittin' the rum a wee bit hard."
redlightgreenlight: (cocky)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, other worlds," she repeated, smirking, "I was brought here a year and a half ago to combat a demon bent on destroying this world and our homeworlds. The Demon has since been defeated, so I don't know why people are still arriving, especially since the person responsible for bringing us here is dead." She tipped her head, "But if you don't believe me, I can try to prove it."
irishthor: (cool)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Alright." He folds his arms. "I'm interested to see where this goes."

And if it turns out to be a big trap, like Shay's instinct is screaming at him that it is... well, Shay's been in tight positions before.
redlightgreenlight: (Hound Curious)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Her smile broadened, "Not all of us Foreigners are human," she growled, stepping back into the shadows to shift. Bones cracked and muscles strained as her body began to rearrange itself, black fur flowed over her smooth skin and within moments a horse sized hound stood where she had been.

Anything like me in your world? Her voice would echo in his head.
irishthor: (angry)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
And, whilst this is happening, Shay is backing off, looking equal parts horrified and awed. A hand grasps at the hilt of the sword at his belt, and he's tensed, ready to defend himself, despite the expression plastered over his face right now.

His mind flickers back to when his Aunt forced him to Church all those years ago. Sermons on demons being everywhere, able to shapeshift into horrifying forms... Then, to not too long ago, Kesegowaase explaining the co-existence between man, animal and nature. To animal spirits wandering around.

He doesn't draw the weapon. Not yet.

He narrows his eyes slightly at the voice. The creature didn't open it's mouth, but it was Valdis' voice echoing in his mind.

"W-What are you?"
redlightgreenlight: (Hound Happy)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-17 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That depends on who you ask, She laughed, raising her head high, To some I might be called a Bargest, to others, a Spirit, I have even been called a Goddess. But do not worry, I mean you no harm.

She sat, curling her tail around her paws and tipped her head to look at him, highly amused to get such a lovely reaction. It had been far too long since anyone had looked at her with such an expression.
irishthor: (take aim)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-17 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Shay mumbles something under his breath. Something in Latin, it sounds like. Roughly translated as a quick protection prayer against evil spirits.

Old habits die hard. Even if Shay didn't fully believe in the Almighty God.

"No." He says, still gripping his sword. "You don't mean me harm. What would be the point in savin' me from those thugs if you did?" He's regaining his composure quickly, but still not straightening his posture.

"A spirit... I'm either hallucinatin' even more, or there's truth to yer words. I don't know which I prefer."

redlightgreenlight: (Hound Curious)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-18 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I'm certain that you'd rather this be a hallucination, but no, it is real. She replied, curling her lips back to show off her teeth. She stood up and took a step forward, her emerald green eyes curious as she approached, wondering how he might react and if he actually thought his sword could hurt her.

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-18 07:50 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly? Shay doesn't know what to think. But following artefacts that can cause massive, city-destroying earthquakes... He's a bit more open-minded. He takes a step back to match that step forward.

"Well, if it's real, could y'do me a wee favour and just stay where you are?"
redlightgreenlight: (Hound Default)

[personal profile] redlightgreenlight 2015-03-18 02:46 pm (UTC)(link)
She stopped her advance, but didn't sit back down. This was the first foreigner to show any fear at her hound form and it was entertaining.

I thought we had established that I mean you no harm, she replied lightly, You are the one who asked me to prove that this place wasn't your world. I assume by your actions that I am correct in thinking that there isn't anyone like me in your world, hence the point has been proven.

Although there wasn't anyone exactly like her in her own world either, but that was beside the issue.

stubbornlittleshit: (leaping into action)

Fancy meeting you here!

[personal profile] stubbornlittleshit 2015-03-18 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh lovely. THEM again. For all that Arno's danced around potential involvement with the snakes, just to have a potential in that he can use if things get rough, they're not exactly his favorite people by a fairly wide margin. The fact they're apparently taking to the roofs themselves, when he's mostly been using those as a means of keeping tabs on everything where he might, doesn't bode well for anyone, really. It's a vantage point he'll have lost, and it gives them yet another advantage that they hardly even need.

He's kept an eye on things from the ground so far, but it's when their target drops that things become more interesting than yet another thing about this place that leaves him muttering darkly and wanting to shake his head. The way he moves, the where he moves, are pretty clear markers straight away. Whoever he is, exactly, doesn't matter so much at the moment, and he's looking for distraction opportunities while the other man attempts to blend.]

THERE!

[He's calling that one out both in the common tongue and kedanese, one of the few words of it he's managed to pick up, then jogging toward the snakes in question, trying his best to look like a loyal suckup as he can right now. And pointing toward the alleys leading away from that crowd]

The man you were pursuing. Through the alley, this way! We may yet be able to head him off!

[He's tossing the words off over his shoulder, sprinting in the same direction as he's pointed, looking for all the world as though he's in pursuit himself. As long as he can direct them away from the crowd, it should give Whoever He Is a chance to escape. As far as getting rid of them, and out of the snipe hunt himself, Arno's turned enough ankles in his day that it's easy to fake one a few minutes of running later, and a simple matter of blending with the crowd himself, while he's satisfied the Snakes are still looking in another dimension entirely.

Now, to see if he can spot the man in question once again. After all, he's got a vestd interest, now.]

irishthor: (hm)

Rather

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-18 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Hearing the shout causes Shay's heart to surge. Did they have someone working for them? As a spotter? It would be easy to spot him if they had someone up on the rooftops looking for him.

It doesn't deter him, however. He can blend in, then find an alleyway to hide in, crouch amongst the shadows 'til the heat wears off... Or he can stand and fight. Both are options, but the former is preferable.

Then the second shout rings out. He can't pin-point exactly where it's coming from... For some reason, his Sense isn't working as it should, but he can make a rough guess. Promptly, he heads off in the opposite direction, picking a nice alley to duck into.

Relaxing, he gives it a few minutes before risking a peek out. No-one chasing after him. He had no idea who his benefactor was, but he was glad they were around.]

Re: Shay Cormac | Assassin's Creed: Rogue | #2 - Fire Region

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2015-03-18 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tazendra caught the commotion, and tracked it. Well, it looked like a fight, and she was certainly interested in fighting. And, obviously, the running man thought he couldn't fight the Snakes on his tail -- Tazendra knew only two reasons to run from a fight, and one generally didn't apply to newcomers to the Turtle.]

[Her longer legs -- she was probably a foot or two taller than Shay and stood out in the crowd -- and better vantage let her navigate the crowd. That and the fact the local kedan saw two Foreigners (one very obviously armed) and a bunch of angry Snakes and decided now was a good time to go elsewhere.]

Ah, do you require assistance?
irishthor: (wtf)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-19 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[It wasn't exactly a fight. Shay avoided any conflict other than the initial bumping-into incident. He had taken to trying to lose them rather than fight them.

Stay your blade from the flesh of the innocent, right? Just because they were angry doesn't mean they weren't innocents. He might have betrayed the creed, but he still didn't needlessly take lives.

He skids to a halt beside Tazendra, eyeing at her height, he, himself, being about 5'9". Average for his time period.]

Well, I was aimin' to lay low in the crowds, but... that doesn't look too likely at the moment.

[He turns to face his pursuers, raising his hands.]

Hey, now, fellas... C'mon. T'was an honest mistake, eh?
fearlessherosheart: Tazendra, a hand on the side of her face, looking intent (interested)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2015-03-20 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Tazendra grinned at Shay's pursuers]

Now, do you really wish to play with a new Foreigner? That is hardly fair of you, and I take great offense to it. A newcomer could hardly know anything of the politics here.

[she was trying to be intimidating, mostly because she wanted to see if the Snakes would engage once they had a much bigger problem than a new foreigner who didn't want trouble]

[She turned to Shay]

These Snakes [she nodded to them] present themselves as the police of this city.

[Tazendra didn't see them as much better than a family thugs, to be honest, which showed in her tone.]
irishthor: (sideshot)

[personal profile] irishthor 2015-03-20 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, now. [That was interesting... and it rose Shay's ire slighlty.] In my opinion, a police force should be courteous and gentle with new arrivals to a strange city, not chase 'em across the rooftops like a common theif.

[He turns, facing the group of three gang members who were glaring daggers at the pair. Shay steps forward.]

I'm all fer havin' a wee blarney with you lads, but... is it worth it? Really?

[The Snakes, obviously, don't think so. They move off without much of a fuss. He looks up at Tazendra.]

Thanks for that, but y'kinda ruined my cover.
fearlessherosheart: Tazendra (Default)

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2015-03-21 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, did I? I had not noticed.

[Sadly, she is the least subtle person on the turtle's back. Toddlers have more guile than Tazendra usually can bother with]
