Welcome to the first CR meme of 2015, and of the new game arc! For players who've joined us since our last meme, these ~bimonthly memes are our opportunity to help establish an idea of what sort of CR you're looking for your characters. Because of this, we do ask that you be as specific as you can when replying to this meme! 'Our characters should team up to moon Tu Yunxu' is more useful than 'omg tag me.'

We have two helpful sections titled "Current Status" for a summary of what your character's been up to, and "CR Goals" for the plotting and discussion of gaps in your character's CR spectrum that you would like to fill! We've also got a section for indicating what kinds of CR you're especially looking for, as well as types of threads you're not interested in.

I am loving Anton and Callaghan already and tbh he was someone I was thinking of when I said in my own post that I'd like Anton to have CR with someone he can approach as an equal. A lot of the people on the turtle are either really young or emotionally immature, so Callaghan being more worldly and closer to Anton's emotional age is CR he doesn't have yet.

Anton's got experience with friends who go off the deep end so if you want someone who will pursue Yokai so he can punch him and drag him back home and force him into rehabilitation, Anton's your guy. Ain't no one got time for shit like that, bro.

I am super down for this; Callaghan doesn't seem to have many peers in canon (or my headcanon, for that record), so someone he gains an honest respect for and vice versa would be lovely. Especially if they're the sort who could metaphorically (and probably literally) force him to sit down when he starts thinking that chaos and mass destruction is a good thing. :')

He's not a bad guy, he's just...................kind of. Blind. At times.

That pretty much describes at least two characters from Anton's own canon, so yeeeep. He would be the friendship lecturer.

Awesome. :3 Rebuilding the fridges will probably take a little while so even if Callaghan leaves in that time, Anton would pay him for it and we have opportunity for more old war-horse type things.

Especially if Callaghan wants to meet the animated skeleton that is one of Anton's best friends.

Excellent, he'll be able to afford some new clothing, too. Presumably at least one outfit that doesn't make him look like he's cosplaying Nick Fury. I am very much excited for this because of how very badly Callaghan needs a grounding force in his life, especially after all the chaos of the movie. He's not going to never flip a table, but I definitely want to set things up that it's all the more painful when he does - and that there are people who can stop him before he goes too far.

Especially since I'm talking with Makari and we have plans with him and China, oh yes.

Callaghan wouldn't say no, but he might need a drink of some sort during/after the meeting.

'Grounding force' is pretty much Anton's whole identity, so yes yes this will be good. :3

Oh Callaghan. Callaghan buddy you will learn about China Sorrows yes you will.

How does some coffee sound, because the Hotel is a dry-zone since the last time Anton got drunk he ... almost razed an entire town to the ground all by himself.

uguughghh yessss no seriously with half the movie being all FRIENDS R GOOD AND U SHOULD HAVE SOME TO HELP U and it being implied that callaghan didn't have anyone i'm just. so.

Tony told him there was no coffee here; he will be pleasantly surprised to discover otherwise if this is the case.

Callaghan you are getting friends and you don't have a choice in the matter.

You poor, poor man.

Probably not much, depending on how much of it Milyn drank during the timeskip, but the Hotel came from an out-of-game location so it has a number of normal-living things. (Just don't tell Tony. ration the coffee, guys.)

Also Makari and I were talking and I was wondering if, in one of Callaghan's regular visits, Anton notices he's talking about China/vaguely befuddled and warns Callaghan about her? They're from the same canon so Anton knows all about her tricks, but just knowing about her tricks doesn't mean being able to throw her off, so there's still some room for futzing. :3

That's fine! Whether or not Callaghan will fully listen...|D But I figure he at least respects Anton so he'll hear him, if nothing else.

She has that effect on people. /snrk/ But he seems strong-minded enough to break out of it eventually ... Anton is pretty sure ... Right?

THE PLAYER CERTAINLY DOES. The character needs serious therapy and/or support and/or someone to smack him across the back of the head because CALLAGHAN NO THAT IS NOT A GOOD WAY TO DEAL WITH YOUR PROBLEMS STOP IT THIS INSTANT.

A threat to her may send him in to full on Yokai mode, is all I'm sayin'.

The amusing thing here is that in a canonical alternate universe, Anton was in the same position as her personal bodyguard.

HAH. I've got the feeling I really need to look in to reading this series.

I could say you do, but I'm just a liiiiiittle bit biased. :3 It is a really good series though; the characters and worldbuilding are generally excellent. Just be prepared to have your heart ripped out and stomped on. ... Like, more than usual for a series. It's pretty much built on tragedy.
