LANDFALL, KITHIKA

Landfall | February 12th - 28th

Greetings, chelonauts! We are here with two announcements of upcoming changes to life in Keeliai. The first is about the weather and the second about a landfall! Read on for details!

Weather
Maybe he's bumped flippers with a few too many icebergs or maybe he's just disappointed that Bresilyk was not actually home to Santa Claus. Whatever the reason, Tu Vishan has shifted direction from his slow circling of the northern pole to a more southerly bend. Over the next week, the residents of Keeliai will notice the temperature improving remarkably and taking with it the snow and ice of winter. Don't go expecting tropical temperatures quite yet, though!

The general feel of the air will become springlike and the average temperature will be hovering around the 10C - 13C (50F - 55F) mark. Birds that have been weathering the winter will rejoice with song and a flock of immense gyroshei will be moving in. These birds have wingspans of up to twenty feet and long, sharp bills with which they like to sneak bites of whatever food has been left unattended. With long legs and necks, they are often spotted peeking into unsuspecting windows to satiate their deep appetites. Unlike young turtles, they do know what qualifies as food, so watch out for your pantry, chelonauts!

Speaking of the baby turtles, they will be delighted with this change! Mud and puddle splashing will become their game of choice, but even more than that, they will start taking to the ocean waters with frequency -- both to clean off the mud and to explore. At all times they will remain near the shore and kedan will often be seen flocking to the waters with them, celebrating their development from hatchlings to slightly-older-than-hatchlings.

Landfall (in a bottle, baby~)
The Fog | February 10th - 11th
Commencing the morning of the tenth, a mysterious fog covers all of Keeliai, with no discernible cause. It's thick, black and makes it difficult to see. It can't be swept or cleared away by superpowers (no superbreath, Kent!) and although it doesn't seem to enter houses or suites, it's literally everywhere else. Attempts to scan it with technology lead to unexpected and inconsistent results, with the findings varying from speculation that it is smoke from a coal fire to the occasional reading stating that it is black cotton candy floating in the air.

The Source | February 12th
On this date in history, an NPC will make a post talking about the source of the fog, which in this case is a small bottle mistakenly uncorked by a servant in the palace, thinking it was alcohol. The bottle, this NPC will explain, is one of three long thought lost, and they are considered artefacts from the initial war with Malicant. These bottles – a trinity – represent Life, Death and Dreaming and are in fact 'pocket dimensions' within each plane thereof. The bottle that has been opened represents Death.

The NPC will further explain that the only way to clear the fog and the corruption is to go into the bottle itself. The core concern is that the fog truly will result in corruption, though they know not of the kind of who would be susceptible -- the only solution present is to take on the contents of the bottle. This will be an Emperor-Issued Mandate, and Evandau will expect everyone that's combat ready and capable to make the journey. They can party-up or go it solo (we will not be moderating the group formations for this event, so feel free to group up and plot as you please), but the emphasis will be on going in to address the source.

NOTE: Once inside the bottle, a character CANNOT LEAVE until the corruption is dealt with. This information will be conveyed to the characters prior to entering the bottle so that they understand the risks.

Two event logs will be going up for this event. The first will be for the Swamp portion of the event and the second for combating the dragon. There will be a one-week space between these logs.

A World Within - Inside The Bottle
The bottle is a very beautiful, intricate thing, with whorls and ribbons of colour blown into it. All characters have to do to enter it will be to touch it, its innate magic will do the work from there! The bottle itself will be under guard 24/7 for the duration of this event in an effort to prevent interference with it or the critical mission ongoing inside.

The Swamp
Once inside, characters will find themselves in a thick and murky swamp. There will be a variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp (buzzing/chirping/croaking/the silent swish of creatures moving through the knee-deep water, characters will occasionally feel things brush against their legs/etc). There are numerous trees, in some places too heavy to get through, and heavy vines that blot out the sky. Phosphorus clumps of pond scum are the only source of light, unless characters can glow or otherwise produce it. The swamp is hot, muggy and humid, uncomfortably so. Also, do you like mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds? Because they're definitely a thing.

As they move through the area, it will seem like the swamp itself wants to stop them. Attempts at flying will be met with trees shifting and seeming to grab at them. Any use of superpowers to try and break the trees will result in eerie, high-pitched screaming as if someone nearby is in pain. If your character wants to roll with that kind of thing, feel free, but any nearby PCs may not take too kindly to the hair-raising noises that will persist as long as any super-powered attempts at breaking the trees are made. Any 'normal' attempts – ie: axes/swords/brute strength – will result in a chorus of whispers throughout the swamp speaking in some unintelligible language, and the trees will bleed a thick, brackish blood that causes burns to those that touch it.

Characters will discover that the trees seem to shrink away from the phosphorous fungi, so anyone who has the idea to scoop it up and, say, stuff it in a bottle will have a handy torch that can beat back the bushes, to reveal...

The Temple Grounds
There is a large, dilapidated temple sitting on the edge of the swamp. The entire ground on which it sits seems to be tilted, as if everything is sliding towards the swamp, and indeed near the edges of the swamp there are several statues that are posed as if they're trying to claw their way out of the encroaching slime and muck. The statues are humanoid, albeit with empty eye sockets and clawed hands. Don't worry, they don't move – much.

The temple grounds are covered with crawling ivy, moss, the muck and slime accumulated over centuries of disuse. There are a wide variety of statues that are broken or half-crumbled, the atmosphere is generally uneasy here. Characters will find, at the center of the grounds, a tree that seems to be the only thing flourishing. If they are to pluck a fruit from this tree (they look so red and juicy!) the fruit itself will rot away in their hands, leaving them with a small, tightly-curled piece of parchment with their name on it. This is a FORTUNE OF DEATH. Don't fear the frightening name, these fortunes will actually bestow – for the duration of a character being within the bottle – a weapon that they can use that will affect the creatures lurking in this bottle world. The weapon may be anything they choose or can imagine, and they will appear twisted and wraithlike in appearance, becoming solid only when the character touches them.

These weapons, however, don't work for free. If a character wishes to use them, they will need to 'bind' the weapon to them with a drop of blood. Whether this is a good or a bad idea remains to be seen.

Note: The same guidelines apply here as did for the Christmas gifts sent by the Ironwood Empreror. Players are free to decide the nature of the weapon that their Fortune of Death bestows upon a character, so long as it adheres to the traits listed above. These weapons are a ONE USE ITEM and are intended to be used in the fight against the dragon. They cannot be taken outside the bottle.

The Temple Itself
The temple has a sort of desolate beauty to it. It was obviously well-tended once upon a time, but now there are silk tapestries rotting on the walls, the paving stones are broken and cracked, the meticulously tended gardens overrun, and great works of art in every medium have been destroyed or damaged. Everything seems to creak and groan, and there are several areas of the roof that are entirely caved in. There is a wishing pond in the center of the temple where people used to throw trinkets, it's considered GOOD LUCK to take something from it, and to put something into it in exchange. A crumbling tablet next to the pond suggests as much, in a language that is similar enough to Latin as to be translated by those familiar.

Surrounding the wishing well, there are three statues that appear different than the rest. They appear to depict... why, your character! At three different ages, those ages being 'child', 'adult' and 'elderly'. If your character chooses to touch one of these statues, one of three things will happen:

IF THEY TOUCH THE 'CHILD' STATUE
The child represents the purity and honesty in the hearts and minds of an uncorrupted soul. This statue will force the character to speak his or her mind honestly and without restraint, for a twenty-four hour period. So what did you think of the Superbowl?

IF THEY TOUCH THE 'ADULT' STATUE
The adult statue represents someone who is straddling two worlds – that of being a child, and that of being near death's threshold. It represents choice, and if your character touches this statue they will be granted a vision of what a 'mirrorverse' self may have been like. In the case of inherently 'good' characters this will mean an 'evil' mirror, and in the case of an 'evil' character it will be likewise swapped over. It just so happens that anyone else standing around will also bear witness to this vision. ALTERNATELY: you can choose to write a Mirrorverse version of your character, in which case they will also remain like this for a 24 hour period.

IF THEY TOUCH THE 'ELDERLY' STATUE
This statue represents the dawning of a life's end, and the first step in a new cycle. It will transport a character to the moment of their biggest regret or their deepest fear, which they will have to confront/battle in order to return to the temple. Other characters can be brought along to help, but be warned, they'll see everything that you may not want them to...

NOTE: After your character touches any one of the statues, the others will crumble away, so please think carefully about which of the three you'd like to use.

The World Eater Dragon
Once the characters emerge on the other side of the temple, they may find that the ground beneath their feet seems to shift as if it's breathing. Off in the distance, there is a mountain that appears to have the same difficulty. This is a massive corrupted dragon, known colloquially as a WORLD EATER. It is corrupted, and has massive pustules of this corruption (which seep black fluid) all over its sinuous body, which is trapped beneath the earth.

There are TWO PATHS from this point. Characters can either band together and attempt to fight the dragon, noted as being the source of the corruption, or they can leave it be and search for other ways to lift the corruption.

IF THEY CHOOSE TO FIGHT IT
Characters will have to attack the corrupted spots in groups. But the dragon, as it's attacked, will become increasingly more agitated and will shake itself free from the mountain (destroying it in the process) to fight back. It's a few hundred miles long, so characters will need to work together to bring it down.

World Eater is an immense and old dragon that is displeased about being awoken (and about waking up with a mountain atop it, to make matters worse). Its key weakness is the corruption and it will howl whenever a pustule is ruptured or cleansed (see below). Those with greater strength and fortitude may find themselves better served by combatting the dozens upon dozens of clawed legs while those smaller in size and higher in precision may prefer to attack the corruption directly.

With each pustule destroyed, there will be a brief eruption of a blisteringly hot goo that will cascade down around the combatants. Once upon the ground, the goo will begin to amalgamate, the corruption reforming into a multi-legged creature that will try to latch onto the dragon (or the nearest living thing) and overtake it. Its bite is a poison of the mind, darkening thoughts with uncontrollable rage and blinding the victim's perception of friend or foe. Everyone becomes a foe and they will fight until the creature that has attached is killed -- a strike to the heart is sufficient. If, however, the creature is left to feed upon the dragon or another victim, it will shrink as it feeds itself into the body, forming into a pustule that will require a renewed attack in order to dispatch it.

IF THEY CHOOSE TO SEARCH FOR ANOTHER WAY TO LIFT THE CORRUPTION
Characters can continue exploring the bottle world, and they will eventually come across a pool of pure, clear water. This water can be used to cleanse the corruption from the dragon and the land. But be careful! It's being guarded by a pair of Fu dogs, who will ask riddles of the characters before they will be permitted near the pond. Those characters that drew something from the GOOD LUCK POND and LEFT SOMETHING IN RETURN will be allowed to pass without answering a riddle. PLEASE NOTE: we will not be supplying riddles, if you'd like one please provide your own!

Once the trial has been passed and your character is allowed access to the pool, they will find that the water is potent but its potency limited. It must be used within four hours of being drawn from the pool otherwise it will lose its effect and the characters will have to try again. There are silver jugs nearby the pool that one can use to carry the water, trying to use anything else – such as a magical construct or something from the outside world, will slowly turn the water brackish and it will be useless at that point.

With each pustule cleansed, there will be a high-pitched scream that denotes the death of the corruption at that point. The pustule will melt away and there will show a brief glimmering of tiny iridescent blue/orange feathers overlaid like scales and a pleasant, warm aura before it fades into a grey haze until all of the corruption is dealt with.

IF THEY CHOOSE A COMBINATION OF THE ABOVE
Fooled you! There is a third option that will allow for defeat of the dragon and that is to combine the methods lifted above. However, World Eater will do all in its power to stop the irritants that have poked and prodded at it, showing no hesitation to stomp upon, chomp down, or bury them in an avalanche of rock and corruption, so it may take a fair share of coordination to deal with it. Leaders and soldiers alike will be needed for this battle, for it is said that only an army can bring the corruption to an end.

Defeat of the dragon by any of these means will reveal a beautiful creature beneath all the corruption. If solely cleansed with water, it will curl back up and renew its rest once more. If the corruption is killed instead, then its body will lay in death, destroyed by the fight that was wrought upon its body. If a mixture of the two, it will be gravely injured and require medical assistance, but will no longer try to destroy those that touch it.

Attempts to communicate with the dragon are met with a blank wall, its consciousness locked down and the creature having no desire to let anything in -- it just spent a lifetime possessed by the corruption and has trust issues, okok?

The Aftermath
Once the dragon is defeated and either killed or spared, the world will set itself to rights. The fog will lift in the outside world, and the bottle's world will become as beautiful as it once was. The temple will be restored, the swamp will disappear and be left instead with a beautiful, warm ocean. There will be bright light and warmth, and the statues will pick themselves up and become people once again, who will interact with the foreigners politely. At this point, characters will be able to choose to leave the bottle and return as they would like.

The World Without - Outside The Bottle
While the battle and cleansing rages on within the bottle, the city of Keeliai itself is not completely spared. The fog which permeates the air thickens with each passing day and, in some areas, the architecture begins to show signs of a black mold that quickly grows into a goo that is blisteringly hot to the touch. Left untouched, this goo will drip down to the ground, where it will begin to amalgamate, the corruption reforming into a multi-legged creature that will try to latch onto the turtle (or the nearest living thing) and overtake it. Its bite is a poison of the mind, darkening thoughts with uncontrollable rage and blinding the victim's perception of friend or foe. Everyone becomes a foe and they will fight until the creature that has attached is killed -- a strike to the heart is sufficient. If, however, the creature is left to feed upon the turtle or another victim, it will shrink as it feeds itself into the body, forming into a pustule that will require a renewed attack in order to dispatch it.

Plain water does seem to dispel the mold and halt its growth, but only for a short time. It's suggested that a purer form of it is needed, and characters who have been canon updated may remember the water in the room there. Evandau will allow SUPERVISED ACCESS ONLY to this pool, where characters can fill silver flasks with the water and journey forth to battle the goo-creatures! This water can be used to cleanse the mold, goo, and creatures that have manifested in Keeliai itself. This water is potent, but its potency is limited. It must be used within four hours of being drawn from the pool otherwise it will lose its effect and the characters will have to try again. Each successful use will clear away all but the fog. Any area or person that has been doused with this water has a 24 hour invulnerability period against the corruption.

Item Requests
In addition to the strangeness within the bottle, characters may encounter items from their home! This is in line with previous landfalls and, as usual, a request must be submitted and approved. Please note that the deadline for items for this landfall is February 10th, at which time the approved requested items will be compiled and posted in the OCC community for confirmation and plotting purposes.

Do you have any questions about the event? No worries! We have included a handy-dandy subheader within the comments of this post specifically for the asking and answering of such questions. Otherwise, have at the plottings, chelonauts!

Also, if you could please take the time to fill this bit out so we can get a gauge of how everyone plans to deal with being inside the bottle, that would be excellent! This is for our records as well as to facilitate any plotting between members, as doubles as a plotting post for all!

Player Name: Ireny
Character: Temeraire
How will your character get through the swamp? By brute force at first, until someone else figures out what the fungus does! What do you mean, I can't Divine Wind my way through everything. :'T
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes. It will take the form of a spear, but he will not blood-bond with it.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He will take some bright, shiny, and utterly useless bauble, and leave one of the edible gems from Sinbrilee in return. Temeraire believes a great deal in luck.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Adult. He's getting the mirrorverse treatment: for the next twenty-four hours, he'll be a Temeraire whose egg actually made it to France and was raised personally by Napoleon, as the Chinese intended. Bratty spoiled princeling dragon ahoy!
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? As bratty!dragon, he'll want to fight, and fight hard. He'll be picky about letting anyone on his back (only Napoleon is allowed to ride him!) but can potentially be persuaded to see the light, which would make attacking the dragon from a distance easier, it being simpler to avoid the goo and all. This particular version of Temeraire would be much less likely to let the other dragon live, though some innate sense of justice probably lingers deep inside his pampered soul and a particularly eloquent plea for an alternative might work on him. Particularly if it appeals to his immense ego.

How will your character get through the swamp? Sheer willpower and conjured earmuffs
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? A flamethrower because yes and yes he probably would.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He'll just take something. He doesn't need luck, just being awesome.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Child.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? He would fight at first, but when its clear that something else is going on (ie, the corruption can be cleansed and stuff) he'll vote to spare it and perhaps help there instead. ANYTHING GOES.

[personal profile] fearlessherosheart 2014-02-07 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Stareyes
Character: Tazendra
How will your character get through the swamp? Brute force! ETA: Eventually she'll probably see someone else use the fungus and mimic, but until then, she is going to hack and burn.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes, to both. And it will be a rather large sword.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Probably not.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Unless I come up with a cool Adult mirror universe that won't get anyone attacked (or people willing to deal with a Tazendra convinced she's at war with the normal humans), she'll touch the Elder statue. While Tazendra has few fears/regrets, she does regret that she wasn't able to save her servant/friend and a few other people. I think someone along might help, because I think to win against this, Tazendra will have to accept that she can't save everyone.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? I'm sorry, Tazendra is too busy fighting to hear you. Seriously, you probably can't stop her enough to get her vote.

Character: Zelgadis
How will your character get through the swamp? Flight and minimal use of magic to get around the trees. Also, yes, the moss.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? He'll take one, have it form a sword, but won't form a blood bond. Because even getting blood is hard, and Zel doesn't trust it.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Nope.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Probably the Child one. Just on instinct.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Zel's instinct is to fight, but if someone tells him about the pool, he'll break off and help run water to it. He'll also spare the dragon if he thinks it can be done safely.

Character: Iroh
How will your character get through the swamp? Probably by following someone else. And using the moss. And trying to comfort the trees.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes. It will take the form of a heavy iron tea-kettle. Iroh isn't likely to blood-bond with it, except by accident.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Yes. He'll take a coin, and leave a (hand-carved) Pai Sho tile.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? None, unless someone wants to play with the Adult or Elder. Iroh is pretty comfortable with himself
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Totally use the cleansing water and vote to spare the dragon. Because killing dragons is not on.

Player Name: Lins
Character: Natasha Romanoff
How will your character get through the swamp? Slogging through, at first. She's smart enough to figure out the fungus thing, though, and would proceed from there.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Probably. As for shape, it'd take the shape of a pistol. She would blood-bond.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? She'd fling a few juulan into the pond, while talking about how she doesn't believe in luck. She wouldn't take anything.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Elderly, and the regret will be one of the missions she took during her mercenary days.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? It would depend on whether or not she would need to fight; if a team is being formed to gather the water, she'd do that. If they needed her to fight, she would. Natasha would vote to mercykill the dragon if it seems like it's in a lot of pain or near death, otherwise she'd vote to spare.

ETA: Natasha speaks fluent Latin, so she'd be able to translate the tablet for whomever she was with.

Character: Derek Hale
How will your character get through the swamp? Wolfing out and tearing his way through.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? No.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? No.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Derek would fight the dragon, and would vote to spare it.

Character: Leonardo (2003)
How will your character get through the swamp? Moving through the trees, possibly acting mainly as a scout if he ends up traveling in a small group. He might try to hack his way through the thicker parts, buuuut would probably decide it's not such a good idea when the trees start shit-talking him and oozing burning goo all over him and stuff.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes and yes, albeit hesitantly. It would take the form of a dao.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He would leave a shuriken and take a small trinket or charm.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? The Elderly Statue. It'll sweep him into a vision with lots of regret, a former friend and ally he really should not have trusted, and spaceships. And possibly dying family.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Leo would elect to mercy kill the dragon at first, but would likely change his mind quickly once he realizes that it can be cleansed of its corruption. He's a fighter, however, so he would be on the front lines the whole time.

I'd love to take this chance to develop current CR and make some new CR. Leo is a sneaky sneaky ninja type, but he'd be willing to band together with others for a common cause! I'm also 100% cool with him being a spectator in any visions others might get from the statue instead.

Character: Teddy Altman
How will your character get through the swamp? He'll start by trying to fly, but when that doesn't go too well he'll use brute force and pure stubbornness.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No. Who grabs fruit off a random tree with creepy surroundings? Geez.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? It's possible. He will probably take something and leave something in return if he sees other people doing it. He'd probably take something small that he can easily store in his pocket and leave behind some juulan or an earring or something.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? He'll touch the adult statue.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Fight the dragon! He'll also want to spare the dragon if possible.

Player Name: Zed
Character: Gene Khan
How will your character get through the swamp? He's clever enough, so he might pick up on the phosphorescent fungi. He may also armor up at this point. Maybe.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yep and yep. He's gonna have a spectral guan dao! It's probably a bad idea, so naturally he's rushing headlong into it.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Gene will deposit a handful of juulan into the pool - and come up with, of course, a ring.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Elderly, though he's not likely to recognize that statue as being of himself...
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Fight, but vote to spare. It's a dragon with trust issues. It's like they were separated at birth.

Player Name: Shane
Character: Garrett Hawke
How will your character get through the swamp? Brute force at first but while Hawke likes to play the fool he's actually very cunning. Once he notices how things in the swamp react to the fungi he'll be using them and alerting everyone around him to them.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Hawke will definitely take a weapon fruit. He just wouldn't be able to help himself. Blood-bonding with it is another issue entirely however. That just screams of blood magic and considering the place their at he's not going to risk something taking over his brain through his blood. The weapon would look similar to Hawke's Key.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? If he can get someone to translate what the text says he'll do it. Of course if he sees other people performing the give and take he'll do so as well. Hawke will leave behind some juulan and take an amulet in return. He loves some loot.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Hawke will go with the elderly statue. Instead of his biggest regret, he'll see his greatest fear of watching all his closest friends die while he's too slow to do anything about it. He wants to save everyone. He just can't.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Despite being such a fan of dragons Hawke will fight the hell out of the thing when it attacks them. He'll also do his best to keep the creepy crawlies away from people. If he learns they can save the dragon though he'll be all for that option. Hawke will do his best to serve as a distraction while others gather water to cleanse it.

Hawke is the kind of guy who'll take charge and blaze a trail. Of course he's not going to force anyone to listen to him or anything like that. If people come along with him great! If not, he's okay with that too, but he will definitely be helping people when and if he can. I would love to build more CR with him during this even though. The more CR with him the better! :D

Player Name: Chloe
Character: Alcuin
How will your character get through the swamp? Alcuin will notice the effects of the fungus and find a container to put some into and carry it. He'll share his information with others, too
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes, it will take the form of a sword, and yes
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He will leave a juulan and take a bracelet
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? He will touch the middle statue and become his mirrorverse self, a selfishly manipulative and occasionally cruel and violent person.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Under the influence of the spell, he would fight the dragon (with magic and his sword) and vote to kill it.

Player Name: Siobhan
Character: Kurt
How will your character get through the swamp? Night vision and teleportation in short bursts
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No, he's not a weapons guy, really.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? It can't hurt. He'd take something that looks pretty worthless, though, and leave a cool rock. He's a cool-rocks-in-pockets kind of kid.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Elderly--since he knows he can't possibly get there, he'll be interested. Someone will probably have to come and help, though, because his biggest regret is also his biggest fear and kind of reduces him to a quivering ball of terror.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Use the water, save the dragon! He tries very hard to be a good guy and he likes third options. And teleporting makes this sort of thing a lot easier.

[So, things may change by the time the event comes around, because I'm still brainstorming, but I figured I'd throw something up on the off-chance people wanted to actually plot with me or something.

Player Name: Hina

Character: Zatanna Zatara | Aya | Midii Une

How will your character get through the swamp? Magic. That's basically my answer for Zatanna always. Aya will get through it with super special awesome GL powers. Midii will use her brain to follow behind people and watch how they get across safely.

Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? I haven't figured this one out yet.

Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? I think Zatanna would be the only one to do the exchange. She would leave behind a magic talisman (probably the water-breathing one), and take...the form of a ceremonial wiccan dagger, I'm thinking. Blood bond entirely possible.

Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? I'm leaning towards having mirror!verses of Aya and Zatanna. Midii will either have to speak her mind, or face her biggest regret over and over again--basically, her betrayal resulting in the deaths of an entire squadron of soldiers, and the hatred of the first boy she ever fell in love with.

Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Zatanna and Aya would fight. MIdii would not. All three would vote to spare it.

Li - Jack / Bakura

[personal profile] wintershepherd 2014-02-07 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Li

Character: Jack Frost
How will your character get through the swamp? Try to fly, if not, maybe his ice. If the swamp is hot enough to be described as "uncomfortable" for the average person, he's not going to be in great shape physically.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Yes, he'll toss in a small trinket and take something equally small. Still working on what items, but they won't be grand.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Leaning towards Adult
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Jack will fight defensively until the point where the cleansing water becomes known, then he'll opt for that. He'll vote to spare the dragon.

Character: Bakura
I am leaning towards having him stay in the city.
langsyne: (Default)

[personal profile] langsyne 2014-02-07 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Val
Character: Scott Lang
How will your character get through the swamp? CHEATING. Aka he'll probably shrink down and hitch a ride off of someone else because otherwise it's just too much effort. WHO WANTS TO VOLUNTEER THEMSELVES?
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? SURE. It'll be a taser because he's lame. Also no he's not going to blood-bond because that's creepy.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? UHHHH he'll probably both take and leave something if he hears that's what you're supposed to do.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Leaning towards none atm because statues of yourself in a foreign land are also really creepy, but if I can come up with something for mirror-verse, possibly adult.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Honestly depends on things turn out. He'd probably start off trying to fight the dragon because he doesn't know of any other options but if someone figures out the fact that the water can be used to cure the dragon he'd probably opt for that option instead.

Also he's going to be flying around on one of of the mosquitoes after he dunks it in the sacred pool because Scott/bug OTP so if your character really wants ride a mosquito, gimme a holler.

Player Name: Lis
Character: Stiles
How will your character get through the swamp? Stiles is good at putting two and two together. He'll catch on pretty quick about the glowy stuff making the trees shrink away.

Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes he will, both to taking the weapon and doing the blood bond. His weapon will take the form of a baseball bat wrapped in silver barbed wire.

Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? If Lydia's along with them and translates the Latin, yes he will. He will toss in a julaan or two, and take a red gem of any kind.

Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Adult statue. Stiles will then only see the mirrorverse version of himself, who will be a really nasty piece of work.

Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? At first he'll probably want to destroy it. But if he realizes that it's corrupted under there, that there's a way to heal it, he'll try his damnedest to stop the fighting, and start healing the creature.

[personal profile] definingfuture 2014-02-07 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Tea
Character: Tony Stark (Marvel 616)
How will your character get through the swamp? Try to fly at first, and when that fails push through normally and suffer screeching with occasional blasts. Sorry, guys. Eventually he'd pick up on the relation to the fungus though and use that.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Probably. It would likely take the form of a gun that fires small bursts of energy because he's not huge on melee, but I don't know if he'd bond with it.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He'd pick up one of the trinkets and leave a small maintenance tool in return. A tiny screwdriver, perhaps.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? He'd touch the child one and be forced to tell the truth.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? He'll fight the dragon, but he's probably going to be looking around so chances are high he'd turn halfway and end up using the water. If that works, he'd likely want to subdue it more than kill it. But it depends on how much progress is being made and what the overall odds are of winning. If he thinks they need to kill, he'll vote that way. He just prefers not to.

[personal profile] jailbreaks 2014-02-07 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Raine
Character: Yuri Lowell / [personal profile] jailbreaks
How will your character get through the swamp? Brute force, then he'd probably catch on about that fungi and use it to his advantage.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes, and it will take the shape of an ax.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? He would leave it alone since he can't read what the script says next to the pond and would rather not get himself into a mess.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? The elderly statue, since that's the one statue he wouldn't recognize and would probably get too close and end up touching it out of sheer (and stupid) curiosity. His biggest fear is himself so he'd end up fighting essentially himself. Another fear is losing his comrades so that's something as well.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Fight the dragon all the way. He'd kill it too.

Character: Reiner Braun
How will your character get through the swamp? Brute force. Unless one of his team happens to figure out the fungi.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes, 3D gear blades
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? No
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Still going back and forward a bit on that one, but likely the Elderly statue.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Under Miles' leadership, they will split up, choosing to both battle the dragon and get the cleansing water. Likelihood of Reiner solving any riddles: 0. He'll likely take on the dragon slaying. His first instinct would be to kill the beast, but might be open to persuasion.

Dropping a line in from hiatus-land...

Player Name: Lee
Character: Gaius Septimus (Codex Alera), Lois Lane (pre-boot comics)
How will your character get through the swamp?
Septimus: Will try to just furycraft and hack his way through, getting progressively more disturbed. It'd be fun to have him have a non-powered partner to notice the fungus method.
Lois: Will experiment and probably find the fungi pretty quickly.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it?
Septimus: No.
Lois: Yes, but no blood bond, too sketch.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave?
Septimus: Absolutely he would, especially after seeing a language so close to Latin--AKA close to something that looks like ancient Aleran. He'll probably leave one of the coins from Sinbrilee and take... something that doesn't seem too valuable, though if someone wants to make it plot-relevant that would be awesome.
Lois: I honestly have no clue.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch?
Septimus: may not; if he does, child.
Lois: may not; if she does, then Elderly and probably have to face the Manchester Black mental torture incident again.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon?
Septimus: The combination. Fight if he had to, clue in pretty quick there was more going on, go with trying to spare--and trying to use his watercrafting to augment that method, too. Vote to spare.
Lois: Water, vote to spare.

NOTE: I'm on hiatus until the 15th, but I thought I'd toss this up in any case. Other than that, if people want interesting puzzles--not just riddles, but puzzles and conundrums and things--and don't want to think of them themselves, I know people who will probably happily supply them, so you can PM/IM/email me about it (my character journals or fractaldawn for AIM/Gchat/gmail).

Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? Nope. Super skeptical.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? She would take something like a unique coin or charm and leave some juulan in exchange.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? The child statue.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Cleansing water and abstain.

Costigan will be staying in town to help clean up.

How will your character get through the swamp? Very carefully and with the power of TEAMWORK.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes, and she will form a blood-bond. The weapon will be an electrified glove.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Yes. Asami will deposit the hair clip she's wearing and withdraw a plain gold-colored bangle.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Elderly.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Cleansing water; spare.

Player Name: Raina
Character: Ellie
How will your character get through the swamp? She's going to need help from others, because in her world? Fungus is BAD. She's not scared of it, but when a fungus destroys humanity and, well, you know, ruins all your friendship? It's going to take a bit to ping her that she needs to use it to get through.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes-- likely either a molotov cocktail, or a nailbomb. Like she needs more of those, BUT she'd make use of it, which means yes to the blood bond. WHAT'S THE WORST THAT COULD HAPPEN.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? She'd take probably something like an old watch, and leave coins. Because that's how wishing wells work, right?
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? The adult statue :'D
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Depending on the presentation, Ellie'd want to just fight and use the cleansing water! Until the dragon shows her it's aggressive, then all bets are off.

Character: Mako
How will your character get through the swamp? He'd probably pick up on the fungus pretty quickly-- though lets be real, he WOULD try to use his firebending some.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No, Mako wouldn't have any interest in the fruits.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? ... I'd say he'd take an old lantern, and leave behind one of the collectable coins he found from Sinbrilee.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? Kid >D
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Mako would definitely be in favor of sparing the dragon. Dragons are pretty important to firebenders in ATLA universe, and the last thing he'd want is to be responsible for the death of one.

Player Name: Abby
Character: Steve Rogers (MCU)
How will your character get through the swamp? He'll stubbornly push on through. He might use force but the burn would be a deterrent. He'd figure the fungi thing out relatively quickly and proceed from there.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? Yes and yes. It would take the form of a shield.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? I'm undecided on this. He would only take something if he put something in, and if he did that it'd likely be coinage or something in his pockets.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? The Elderly One. That moment when he couldn't prevent Bucky from falling out of the train.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Steve would likely fight it, but would be in favour of sparing it.

Player Name: Marie
Character: Bart Allen, Connor Hawke, and Julio Richter - given that I will be away for the start of Landfall, at LEAST one of these will have to have be handwaved
How will your character get through the swamp?
Bart: Will blithely run across the water and vibrate through the trees and then wonder why everyone else is having so much trouble because he's a dirty, cheatin' Speedster Jesus.
Connor: Will trudge through it, if solo, and figure out the fungi eventually, possibly after shooting a tree (with trick arrow, oops forest fire of whispers?)
Ric: Will be lucky if he fucking survives the crossing, because he is going to go full tilt on those screaming trees.

Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it?
Bart: Is the curious, touchy things type, and he'll wind up a spiked brass knuckle. Blood bond will only happen against the dragon, IF whatever group he's fighting it with has no success without weapons.
Connor: Comes with his own weapons, so no.
Ric: Will wind up with a 9 mm with a full clip. He will keep it, but won't use it because it's a pea shooter against a dragon that size and his powers are incredibly useful against living things that you don't mind wrecking.

Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave?
Bart has nothing to leave and nowhere to put something that he takes, so no.
Connor will leave an arrow vane and take something small and useless, perhaps a woven bracelet?
Ric will take a coin and leave a juulan.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch?
Bart, again, is the omg touchy sort. He will touch the male statue.
Connor thinks they're beautiful, but they're probably religious icons and will not paw at them.
Ric has no time for statues. Call him if they move.

Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon?
Bart will fight the dragon, provided anyone can convince a mirrorverse Bart that it needs to be fought, and vote to kill it.
Connor has done this whole dragon fighting thing before, it was awful, so he'll be using the cleansing water and voting to spare it.
Ric will be fighting the dragon, because he's not running around like Molly Pitcher, and will vote to kill it because that is a giant gd dragon.

ETA: Bart will no longer be touching the statue or present for the dragon fight, as Kal is injuring him. The other boys are available for killing, if anyone wants a body count.

Player Name:Eve

Character: Sharon Carter
How will your character get through the swamp? Sharon will try to pick her way through by foot before using the fungi to try and light her way. Once she realizes that it will clear a path for her, she'll hold onto it.
Will your character take one of the weapon-fruits? If yes, what form would it take, and would they form the blood-bond with it? No. She'd be highly suspicious of a tree bearing fruit in a death-bottle.
Will your character take and leave something in the Good Luck pond? Only take something? Only leave something? What items would they take or leave? Again, she'd be too suspicious.
Which of the three statues - if any - will your character touch? She'll come close to touching the statues, mostly out of curiosity, before thinking it might be a magical trap or something. She'll decide to look only.
Will your character fight the dragon, or use the cleansing water? Would they vote to spare or kill the dragon? Sharon will choose to fight the dragon, and she would vote to kill the dragon.
