[plot info and related tomfoolery]
Greetings, Chelonauts! I come to you with a few possibilities that may be facing us in Tu Shanshu's final year. Yes, you heard that correctly – we are hoping to have the story wrapped up and completed by MARCH 2015. While that may seem like a good while away, we are laying the groundwork for how the final hurrah is going to go now in order to save us all some headaches and heartbreak in our future endeavours!
Over the next few months, there are going to be changes to the overall gameplay aspect of Tu Shanshu. Right now we are looking at three core options, and we'd like your help in deciding how to direct this particular aspect of the metaplot! This post outlines the three and, at the end, we're asking for your votes (in order of preference) so that we can identify the most appealing option to the playerbase and move forward with it.
Voting on these options will be open until February 15th and the results will be rolled up into an announcement before the end of the month.
Plot Direction - The Options
OPTION A
We are considering opening up the world for player exploration and plotting! This means allowing our past landfall locations to be accessed, and will result in a broader compendium of the world outside Keeliai for characters to explore. This would include character-driven plot involvement, with characters being allowed off Keeliai for exploratory, salvage or combat purposes. We would institute a system where people come to us in a general plotting post to establish what their characters would be interested in doing, so that we could work with those players to craft a more customizable personal experience in terms of how they can help advance the plot. The tone of the game would remain as it has been thus far – even-keeled with the occasional branch into action/horror elements.
This is considered an OFFENSIVE option in the struggle against Malicant.
OPTION B
Intensifying the plot with a focus on Keeliai itself! This means leaning towards an outright assault by Malicant, rather than the overtures he's been making at this time. Effectively, this option would turn Keeliai into the last stronghold of Konryu, and would allow for the final year of the game to be about siege warfare. Characters would be able to work on Keeliai-specific defenses and would directly combat the thread of Malicant; this would turn into a team effort overall, with meta and non-meta characters alike having critical roles in what transpires. There would be heightened NPC participation, and an overall darker tone to the game.
This is considered a DEFENSIVE option in the Malicant Diaries: Konryu Edition.
OPTION C
This option would involve having the barriers lowered once in a while, with Evandau leading or directing teams for a specific and distinct purpose. This option would allow for intermittent exploration and/or combat, with a focus on creating diverse teams of characters meant to foster cross-canon CR. It would also feature heightened NPC participation, as well as a darker shift in tone and a more militarized attitude in Keeliai proper. The city itself would remain mostly safe from the strife around Konryu, with the option of that changing as endgame approaches.
This option is considered to be a MIX OF OFFENSE AND DEFENSE in the Malicantolympics.
Plot Direction - The Voting
Tu Shanshu has always operated with an organic plot model, meaning that we have tweaked and redirected the plot based on both feedback and IC actions made by the characters. This vote is about continuing that, as we are asking for YOU, the players, to give us your preferences for how this will all turn out!
To do that, please use the below form to submit your preference vote to THIS thread in the comments.
As noted above, voting will remain open until February 15th and the results will be rolled up before the end of the month. Keep in mind that this voting is on an OOC level; list the options however you feel that you would have the most fun with!
Do you have any questions about this? No worries! We have a comment subheader HERE specifically for asking them. We will answer as quickly and coherently as possible!
