EVENT | ALL HALLOWED REDUX - RITUALISM | Jan 10-13

Hello Tushies, time for another event!

This is a followup to the Losses experienced by the Foreigner population as part of the All Hallowed plot back at the end of October, particularly those who were affected by a long term effect.

RESETTING THE STAGEIC LOG HERE
The kedan are unhappy that the Foreigners were hit with such a strange and inexplicable effects and while they don't know how it happened, they are hoping that this will help. While their primary concern is those who have ongoing effects, this offer will be open to anyone who was ghosted and brought back using the iridescent paint. For those who have recovered, this may also help in dispelling any lingering danger of it happening again.

On Monday morning, several volunteer kedan will be dispatched to the houses of those affected by the ghosting and let them know that there is an upcoming ritual that they may be interested in attending. The kedan will explain that as shapeshifters, their kind sometimes get "stuck" with unwanted effects due to their nature and can't undo them normally, particularly younger kedan. This could be anything from a bright orange cast to their skin to something as drastic as having a third arm coming out the top of their heads. As a result, every few years they regularly undertake a ritual that cleanses them back to their natural states and that one of their physicians has suggested that it might help the Foreigners, based on the fact that the iridescent paint, commonly used for aid in managing their changing, had a positive effect on ghosted Foreigners.

The kedan will go on to explain that in order to undertake this ritual, those affected should have two volunteers each to act as sponsors and that the criteria for the sponsors is very important. The sponsors must have one similarity and one difference each from the person they're acting on behalf of. For an example, the kedan will use that the sponsor may have the same eye colour as the attendee, but one is an only child and the other has siblings. The similarities and differences are not required to be common between all three people, only the attendee and the sponsor. They'll also emphasize that the more significant the similarities and differences are, the better chance the ritual will have for working correctly.

Though they will not be able to explain the entire ritual in detail if asked (it's a private thing, they'll say! but they do want to help and so are inviting the Foreigners) but will reassure them that it's an ordinary thing for kedan to undergo, that it's painless and harmless. After all, they'll reason, it can't hurt to try?

"Hey, I just met you and this is crazy,
But I got ghosted, so sponsor me maybe?"

Players are encouraged to make posts and coordinate finding their sponsors! For organization purposes, once affected players have gotten their two volunteers, please copy them into the Groups comment down below. (For fairness, we ask that both sponsors not be played by the same mun, though a player can volunteer up to two of their characters across the groups.) ETA: Be sure to read over the QUESTIONS section as specifics are detailed there!

The IC ritual log will be going up Friday evening (once I'm home from work!) though the actual event will ICly take place Saturday through Sunday. If you have any questions, please ask them in the Questions comment below. Thank you!

Efficiency and finishing the mission! Barnaby just looks the part way more than Prussia does. To be honest, Barnaby would remind Prussia of his little brother Germany with his stiff demeanor and seeming lack of a sense of humor. The more annoyed he gets, the more Prussia would bug him just because.

Would you mind giving me a bit more about Barnaby's personality/traits. Maybe we can see what else they have in common (the more similarities the better the ritual works after all). And I can double check about the bunny thing, too.

Hahahah, that is weirdly cute! Barnaby doesn't really care for pushy types, but he also tends to eventually relent if someone bugs him enough, so there is that.

As for more info, let's see...

1. Likes classical music and opera. Everything else is inferior in his opinion, and so that's the only type of music he bothers to listen to.

2. Massive neat freak. He refuses to use less than two tissues when wiping his nose, and his apartment is spotless.

3. All-or-nothing attitude toward most things. He's either 110% committed to something, or he wants no part of it.

4. Gets as much use out of something as possible. He leads a very spartan, minimalist lifestyle, so the few things he holds onto are built to last a long time. That's why he does stuff like consistently wear the same outfit for five years straight.

5. Tries to prepare for any outcome he can think of. That's why he owns five pair of the same glasses. He also combs over old footage of himself in order to determine whether each action he took was necessary, and if there's a better way for him to handle similar situations in the future.

6. Very confident in his abilities, and has few (if any) insecurities. On the other hand, he is introspective enough to know what he needs to improve about himself.

7. Saves the best for last, like his favorite food during dinner.

8. He's the love-is-blind type. When he's actually infatuated with someone, he goes through a phase where he's prone to overlooking that person's faults.

Do any of these work? I could try to keep digging if necessary, but I figured that hits on a lot of the major things.

Oooh! Okay massive neat freak would definitely be one of them! Prussia's not spartan, since he loves collecting things, but he's very particular about everything having its place and his room is spotless, too. That could be something to notice if there was a mess both of them noticed (like someone knocking over a tray in a restaurant or on the street or something). The confidence is definitely a similarity, too, although with Prussia at times it's being just plain overconfident and arrogant. Interesting though is that Prussia is also a kind of love-is-blind type, but only with certain people, like his brother or people he has a big crush on. If he likes them that much, they must be perfect in his mind.

He's a lot more immature than Barnaby though so that's a difference. And has a huge need for validation and praise from others while insisting he's perfectly fine being on his own. I think there's a lot that we could work with right here! Does Barnaby speak any other languages besides English and Japanese?

LOL, I admit I didn't expect them to share the love-is-blind trait, so I'm glad I mentioned it! Between that and some of the other stuff you mentioned, it sounds like we've got a bit of common ground here, along with some key differences.

If we go with them noticing the neat freak trait, maybe Prussia could see Barnaby's partner Kotetsu throw some trash on the ground, and then Barnaby gets on Kotetsu's case about it?

And as far as I know, Barnaby only speaks English.

Yeah Prussia can be ridiculously blind to the flaws or bad behavior of people he genuinely cares about (and even blinder to rejection). Good they both speak English! That works then. English isn't Prussia's first language of course, but it works out that they can use that still.

The idea about Kotetsu making a mess would definitely get Prussia's notice because littering is a huge no. Public streets aren't your garbage can. :|
baniichan: (I remember falling)

[personal profile] baniichan 2014-01-06 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it sounds like Prussia might be a little more extreme with it than Barnaby (he's likely to gradually grow out of it after some time), but that plus English are a couple more things they have in common, at least!

I'll talk to Kotetsu-mun to see if she'd be on board with the litter thing, then! That cool with you?

Oh crap sorry I didn't get a notif for this, but yeah I'm totally okay with asking them.
baniichan: (read their lips)

Okay, I talked to her, and she said she was on board with it. Did you have an idea of how to organize it?
cantbewalled: (Only got love for you)

We had decided on him throwing trash outside, so it could a log? They could be in the marketplace or outside one of the small restaurants in fire sector.
