First impressions on Mako from Zatanna?

Truthfully?

Not...the greatest. Granted, they sort of met under not so pleasant circumstances, considering Mako was looking for Jack and slightly pissed about things, and Zee tends to get more than a little (over)protective of her favorite snowflake...but, on some level, she kind of at least gets that much.

I mean, Mako still seems a bit too straightlaced for her preferences, but Korra obviously likes the guy, so there's got to be something good about him, right?

Most of Aya's initial acquaintances are fairly neutral. She sees Shepard initially for her rank, and assumes her to be another high-ranked official worthy of respect. Which she will happily give. The fact that Shepard is initially speaking to her so freely, without apparent judgement, is a huge step in her favor. Consider Aya's past with such prejudices.

IT IS MORE OR LESS THE SAME except maybe a slight distance suddenly between them. Which is neither of their faults, but only because of the things that are happening. The Eva secret is out. More about the Turtle and World is known now, so they're not hiding in mutual secrecy any longer.

Which basically leaves them as friends, and someone that has proven herself to be worthy of Zatanna's trust. She'd still run to Annabeth in a heartbeat if she had things she needs to talk about (...which...she very well will the moment she realizes she's forgotten her own boyfriend), if she wasn't so concerned about the poor girl needing some time to herself.

But they will talk again. Eventually.

Hal and Aya! even if this is still early on...

A bit early, because Aya hasn't quite figured out that this isn't "her" Hal just yet, and she's functioning under the assumption that there is something wrong with him. Because how can he not remember Razer?! He vouched for him! And this concerns her greatly.

The Hal she knows was the very first voice she heard. He named her. He encouraged her. Cared for her. Taught her what it means to be a Green Lantern. Only...you know...with his special habit of bending or ignoring rules altogether. But his results never lied, and neither did his loyalty; shortly before her arrival on the Turtle, he had saved her from deletion. She literally owes him everything.

Finding out that this is not him will...sadden her. How much so depends on subsequent interactions, how he reacts to her being...her...and the story she tells him while trying to help him "remember" a life he didn't actually lead.

Eponine and Midii. Anything you can really think of tbh

Eponine gives off a very Motherly/Big Sisterly vibe to Midii, which is a bit strange for her, because she's never had either. Her mother is never mentioned in her canon, presumed dead, and she only ever had three younger brothers to help take care of...so family tends to ping her like no other. So when she saw the bond that Eponine and Gavroche had...well...

But it's more than just watching the two of them. Her brief conversation with the older girl also evoked a sense of kinship. They're both French war orphans (albeit from vastly different eras, War is War) who have experienced pain and loss and who both may or may not have died. (Yes, I know Eponine did, but Midii's fate was left fairly vague by the end). She found she actually somewhat likes talking to the older girl, even despite the less than pleasant topics, and could easily see her as somebody to go to in the future.

Even if it's just for a story.

Midii and Zee on Jor-El, and Zee on Bianca?

Zee ➢ Bianca

First impressions were...interesting, to say the least. Bianca has this overwhelming authority that catches her completely off-guard. She is an ACTUAL adult, and Zee isn't really used to those. Especially ACTUAL adults that she can't help immediately listening to because wait what is happening why am I being so obedient . It's almost scary.

But besides that...Bianca seems like a pretty cool mom, and she not-so-secretly thinks Jaime is insanely lucky to have her around.


Zee ➢ Jor-El

A bit stiff, but she did enjoy their conversation. It's sad that bb!Clark is gone now, because she would have really liked to watch the two of them interact. They seemed pretty close, the way Jor-El baseically gave her a casual Third Degree about her hanging out with him. It was actually kind of sweet.


Midii ➢ Jor-El

Right now, the only thing she has to go on this man is that he appears not only highly intelligent, but very willing to share knowledge with her. He thinks rationally, which she can appreciate, and cuts straight to the appoint, which she appreciates even more. She thinks he must be some kind of scholar or something, and is looking very forward to future sessions between them so she can learn as much as possible.

ZATANNA ➢ KYLE

FAMBLY.

Seriously. Having grown up an only child, Zatanna never knew what it was like to have a sibling, much less a wonderful, slightly protective, slightly dorky and yet still cool Big Brother. She adores Kyle to know end, and isn't afraid to tell him she loves him because she really really does. They've been through so much together. Good and Bad. Especially bad, because given their personalities, those were some serious issues on both ends that they needed to get through. Not just the respective worlds they came from, but their different personal experiences with the subject (and Zee's strong bias towards wanting to "protect" Jack, whom she saw as a "little" brother at the time). It was a lesson they needed to learn. And, it might have taken forever, but I think they're both finally starting to learn it.

Together.

I think it also says a lot that, when they were talking about other people "abusing" powers, they fought horribly over their respective stances on how to respond...but when Zatanna actually screwed up in her own right? He forgave her. No fighting. Just understanding.

But beyond that, even just being around him in the downtime consists of some of her favorite Turtle memories. They lived together, and because it's them and they already had the relationship they had, there wasn't the slightest bit of awkward between them. It really was like an older brother and sister taking care of each other. I still go back to that one thread where she woke up in the middle of the night to him painting in the dark, shirtless, and how his state didn't even faze her because she was used to Kyle being Kyle, and just remembering how completely touching the whole scene was. The way they hugged each other and talked about things and just ugh.

She talks about him as if he really was her Big Brother, too, btw. There's actually a thread with her and Dick trick 'o treating where she jokes about being banned from wearing fishnets until she's thirty, and Dick asks if Kyle said it, and she comments about how sometimes she thinks he forgets he's not ACTUALLY her brother and she wouldn't be surprised if he tried to give Dick a Talk. (Then they started talking about how entertaining his visual aids might be and something about frog porn and verbal hilarity ensued, but the point is that Kyle was thought of).

And now, with this whole latest setback with the ghosting and the Loss and everything...I really, REALLY want her to go to Kyle (after she goes to Dick, of course) and talk to him about things. Because this was her first experience being manipulated and having something taken away from her and the fact that it was the memory of her most important person on the entire Turtle is basically going to crush her and she won't admit that he was right because then she'd have to admit he was Right, but she's going to go to him because she'll know he'll know what to say. Hopefully.

Basically, big brother Halp. :'(

MIDII ➢ KYLE

Kyle is one of the few adults that Midii currently...okay, maybe not trusts (not as much as she'd trusted Miri, if only because she'd seen Midii's Death/Dream world and learned about her past), but considers to be someone she could go to if she needed help. I think one of the biggest highlights of their current CR was the fact that Midii saw his Death/Dream world, and at the same time, he learned a lot about her just based off her reaction. Or, I guess, rather a lackthereof. Because he had been so surprised by the fact that she was drawn to that horrible door, and when she opened it and looked inside, not only wasn't afraid to wander in, but took in everything around her so calmly, it was pretty obvious she was used to that sort of surrounding.

If he ever confronts her about it, she might tell him. Not the whole story. Not about the Captain and the Betrayal or maybe even Nanashii, but about the War and her little brothers and maybe even her Papa. About how she still feels guilty every time she eats a whole meal and has leftovers, because she'd had to put her life on the line just to make sure her family would be able to eat at all. Why she gets to survive and live in a place that is so much better than the world she came from, and they--more deserving people--were left behind.

Most because she suspects that he might be able to understand.


AYA ➢ KYLE

I've got two words for you: MEGAZORD LANTERN

Okay, but seriously (sort of), I'm kind of amused by the fact that Kyle and Aya met at a not-so-great time, and yet it didn't seem to make much difference. Because the very first thing he did was tell her something she hadn't even realized she needed to know, and then immediately reacted in a way that implies he's accepting her for it. Because, really, that's all Aya wants in life. Love and Acceptance. She's a complicated little bb bot, with very simple desires. The fact that Kyle is a former Ion host with an inherent connection is just going to make their CR all the more popcorn-worthy, because it means they will share a bond like no other. And I kind of like that. Aya has very few people in canon she can call close. Hal, Kilowa, and Razer. That's it. But Kyle easily has the potential to join that list, because in many ways, he will remind her of her Papa. Mostly good ways, of course.


MIDII ➢ MONET

First impression can sometimes leave a bit impact, and I have a feeling that with these two, that will definitely be the case. The short version is that Midii actually kind of likes Monet a little bit. Physical appearances and body language aside, she's smart. She doesn't mince words. She respects knowledge, and was ready and willing to offer to teach Midii by the end of their first conversation without the immediate promise of payment of some kind. (Midii is not above accepting charity if it's in her favor, though she wouldn't object to repaying the kindness at a later time, if possible).

I think what interests me particularly about these two is how, as you mentioned in plurks, Monet really isn't fond of kids. Then again, Midii isn't your average child. It's almost as if their personalities are somehow able to overcome any initial hesitations because they sort of get each other, even if only on that intellectual level. In time, I can visualize the respect forming. The sort of relationship that Midii might be able to form with few others. Trust may or may not become a factor for the Big Things, but for the small things, Midii may eventually look to her for words of Wisdom or even just Advice. A lot of it will depend on Monet's future reactions if and when she starts to learn more about the tiny blonde, but if things keep up on the track they're currently on...this could make for some really, really good CR.

(Then again, it's us, so can we really be all that surprised?)

Midii on Bean?

Midii has very few pings in life. Little boys tend to be a bit one, because they remind her so very, very much of the three brothers she left behind. The younger, the stronger the ping, because her littlest one, Michel, was somebody who looked up to her for just about everything. Their mother was gone, and with their father so sick, she practically raised him herself.

Granted, the feeling isn't quite as strong when it comes to boys she's only just met, but there is definitely that lingering sisterly instinct that makes her want to at least be around him in case he happens to need someone. The fact that he's smart--smarter than her, even (she's not afraid to admit it)--is a plus in her book. She respects intelligence. Admires it. Eventually, if time passes and things go well, she may even grow to feel comfortable around it. And him.

Zatanna ➢ Stupid Boyfriend

Favorite person on the Turtle, and the one she trusts most. But more than that...maybe because they don't get to see each other as often as she'd like...there's almost a sense of excitement when they are together, even if it's just him as Dick. She definitely hasn't forgotten what it was like when they were older--okay, so maybe she has temporarily forgotten (sob), but we're talking prior (and after) to the amnesia episode--and how intense the moment felt. To say she's attracted to him would be an understatement. She's attracted to everything about him. His humor. His smile. The way she can just go to him about anything and everything and know he'll understand. Because he's one of the only things she has left from their homeworld, and that makes their connection all the more near and dear to her. She loves being around him. Part of her wants to admit that she loves him, although she would be very very hesitant to say she's in love with him. There's a difference, after all.

...and this is a huge part of why the temporary memory loss is basically going to DEVASTATE her. She knows she's having a much rougher time of things than she is, if only because she's gotten so good at fooling herself into thinking she might almost be better off on the Turtle. Where she has friends, family, and doesn't have to deal with watching her Dad surrender to Fate. So there's a lingering sense of guilt that he's miserable and she's not so much. But now, she's going to be directly responsible for making it so much worse and it's going to CRUSH her and she wouldn't blame him for hating her for it. Even if it wasn't her fault.

But, like I said before, she is going to do her damnedest to make up for it in any and every way he'll let her.

She'll even cook for him this time.


Midii ➢ her boyfriend omg rude he's not her boyfriend. :| But something something a stupid brother....

Her first impressions of Dick were highly favorable. A lot of that--possibly more than she would openly admit--have to do with the fact that Damian trusts him so implicitly, because she knows Damian well enough to know that this speaks volumes. And she can see why. He was very kind and understanding, but also completely unwilling to let Damian get away with his usual glares and pouts and...she was actually amused by their interaction. The last name thing has her curious, and she wants to ask so badly, but she'll wait for a later time when they're alone. When she may ask him more about Damian as well. Less about secrets and pasts and more trying to get an understanding of the boy form a different perspective.

So, basically, while calling him somebody she can Trust might be a bit premature, Dick is on her favorable list at this time with the potential to be a valuable ally (her word for "friend") later on.

She's still reeling a bit from the whole "Green/Roman gods are real and this guy here is the son of the War one"...but, in some ways, it almost seems like it explains a lot. She likes Frank a little. He sort of gets it, except he can somehow smile his way through things as well. The shapeshifting thing was also kind of cool, which goes to show that she's almost starting to accept this whole magic thing happening around her. Because, really, hard to deny evidence like that.

So, in short, Frank is on her good list.


Zatanna ➢ Clark

She currently feels TERRIBLE about the whole powers thing, but her respect went up for him leaps and bounds by the fact that he not only came straight to her to tell her about it, but that he was kind and understanding without being patronizing. Supermommy is best Supermommy. Pie or no pie. And she feels incredibly lucky to have him in her Turtle life.


Aya ➢ Clark

Aya is curious about Kal-El. The manner in which he presented himself. His formalities. The information he possesses. She is grateful for his kindness and respect towards her, considering she has not always received such things from perfect strangers, and she would not mind engaging in furture conversation with him. Particularly about how he knows Hal Jordan...or, rather, *his* Hal Jordan.
