GANG WAR EVENT [09/08-09/14]

SUBJECT LINE: EVENT | Gang War | September 8 - 14, 2012

Did you think things hadn't been going so hot in Keeliai since the Festival? OOPS, because things are about to get more intense! Your mod team is here to present the next game-wide event:

Gang War

The tensions of the last few weeks have been building to a breaking point, and that point is now. SIX of Keeliai's biggest gangs are going to bring the violence to a head. By name, they are:

     The Streets (Fire)
     Amnai Meroz (Earth)
     Long Night Crew (Metal)
     Derelictors (Earth)
     Avengers of Evastelei (Fire)
     Crossroads Outcasts (Fire)

What does this mean? This means there is going to be a sudden upsurgence of conflict all across Keeliai. They're going to be warring not only with each other, but also with the 'foreigner' population, who they perceive as being wrongfully brought to Keeliai at the unnecessary expenditure of resources, time and effort.

Well, it means whatever you want it to mean. There are going to be a variety of missions across Keeliai – handed out ICly by Commander Evandau, who much to his chagrin has been charged by the Emperor to temporarily deputize the foreigner population – but this is where the handy dandy OOC planning comes in, so we know where to organize everyone!

PLEASE NOTE: Not every mission is necessarily going to be successful. Right now, there's no telling which ones will or won't be. You never know. The simplest mission may have a wrench thrown into the plans halfway through.

Team Events:
These here are the focal points of the gang war, where the tides rise and turn if you will. They will be executed within party-style group logs with kedan NPCs and a common goal. Whether or not they will succeed is not known at this point, but Evandau will be needing teams to dispatch to deal with the following (as of yet unpredicted) major events:

>Crowd Control:
The Long Night Crew and the Avengers of Evastelei are going head-to-head in Metal as the Avengers of Evastelei try to take ground on the LNC's turf. This has caused enormous amounts of wide-spread damage and panic amongst the civilian population, buildings have been bombed, fires have been lit, and certain enterprising individuals are taking it upon themselves to do a little looting on the side. Evandau will be coordinating the available police force in the area, but it's up to the foreigners to do the main body of work in containing the Sector.

HEAVY DAMAGE will be done to the Metal Sector in this time.

>Sacrificial Altar:
A group of kedan have gathered on the turtle's head and are intent on spilling blood to an unknown purpose. There are five individuals staked out here for a ritual sacrifice, can they be saved in time? While the ones doing the sacrificing are dressed all in black, a curious happenstance has occurred - enforcers are present, and their colours represent all six of the Gangs. Isn't it strange to see individuals from each gang working together like this?

>Break-in at the Palace of Landed Sky:
The Amnai Meroz and Crossroads Outcasts have joined forces in open contest of the Ironwood Emperor's rule and will be marching on the palace. Let's not neglect to mention that their goal is to reach the prison beneath the palace and set free brethren previously detained. As the two largest surviving gangs after the Black Kirin, they have significant numbers to be put down -- and, by that, Evandau will authorise the use of nonlethal force so that the assailants can be questioned and punished for their transgressions against the Palace of Landed Sky. This event will take place in the areas outside and within the walls of the palace, with much devastation to buildings and landscaping.

Solitary Missions:
While the major conflicts may be the focal points, there is a lot more going on in and around the city. With crime spiralling out of control, Evandau will be providing case files to any Foreigner that reports to one of the police stations for solitary work.

These are primarily handwave events, though if you want to pair or team up for CR purposes, feel free. The tasks that will be up for offer will vary, but run along the lines of:

>arresting known gang members
>seizing contraband
>escort valuable goods/persons
>finding/freeing hostages

As a reminder, not all missions will be successful! This is why we are asking you to fill out the form with however many tasks you would like your character to attempt. We will then test whether the odds will be in their favour (to be announced at the commencement of the event). It's in the luck of the draw and higher numbers are better, but each character can take a maximum of seven tasks.

OOC Coordination:
SO, how are we going to do this? Simple! First off, we'd like everyone interested in participating in this event to fill out the below form and post it as a comment below. Please rank the events in order of preference for involvement so that we can try to match everyone as closely to what they want to participate in as possible!

Then, when the event kicks off, we will post a list of all teams, missions, and which of them will succeed versus which ones will fail.

IC gameplay will kick off this weekend with an IC post from Evandau ([personal profile] alderwood) announcing the deputisation of Foreigners, the teams he wants them to break down into, and the tasks he will assign to each of them. He will also detail the tasks that require fewer parties to complete (the "Batman" category solo missions), which will be handwave-optional and primarily available for people that want to participate, but do not necessarily have time to devote to one or more party-style logs over the course of the event.

Now, what exactly do your characters get from participating on the side of good and putting down this gang war? Evandau would have it be the satisfaction of seeing justice served, but Lieuen is craftier than that and is offering payments of 5 juulan per solo mission and 15 juulan for each Foreigner that assists in taking on/taking down any of the major events. The only catch? They must be successful!

Those that go against the law in this may find themselves labelled 'persons of interest' by the Keeliai police force and will be subject to punishment if caught. Since things have basically gone to hell and they need Foreigner help, Evandau's pretty much ordered his officers to look the other way in the event of a PC character breaking the law, but the Law of Tens still applies here. If your character wants to ally with or kill more than ten kedan in total, give us a shout and we'll discuss options.

For the Teal Deer Crowds: Gang War is a-go, and there's a handy dandy sign-up form for your convenience!
