OOC:
GANG WARS AND YOU.
Increased gang activity is just one of the symptoms plaguing Keeliai's fair streets since the conclusion of the festival. With one gang leader taken down by Evandau, the others are going to be lobbying for positions of power in the resultant vacuum.
So what does this mean, you ask?
It means that violent crime is going to be on the upswing, it means that Foreigners especially are going to be targeted. Tensions are high, prices are going to be ratcheted up in most stores, and even minor infractions of the law are going to land people – kedan or Foreigner alike – in the jail beneath the Palace of Landed Sky.
FOR THE GOOD GUYS:
How do your characters feel about stopping crime? Because there's going to be a huge spate of it to deal with. Robberies, kidnappings (of kedan primarily, but feel free to coordinate PC kidnappings amongst yourselves!) and even murder are on the menu for the next few weeks. Drug use will be profligate, buildings will be burned (for the most part, the apartment suites set aside for Foreigners aren't going to be touched, but if you'd like them to just ask us!) and there's going to be a great deal of looting. If your character has a proclivity towards stepping in against these crimes, great! But be warned – vigilantism isn't exactly high on the list of 'things Evandau tolerates for the greater good'. If he catches anyone in the act (please coordinate with us OOCly on that, either by PM or a private plurk to
reignsdown or
vonnerdyce) he fully intends to lock them up and throw away the key.
FOR THE BAD GUYS:
Feel like stepping into that power vacuum and maybe spicing up your own evil affairs? Then look no farther! With the largest gang in the Fire Sector (The Black Kirin) currently without a leader, there is plenty of chaos just waiting for an even hand to take the reins. Please keep in mind that while PCs are allowed to accrue a gang of up to ten kedan without mod permission, anything greater than that does require it, so please coordinate with us if you're up to any such shenanigans.
FOR THE AVERAGE JOES&JANES:
So maybe your character isn't Vengeance or the Night, and all they want is some peace and quiet. What can they do?
Well, it's probably going to be in their best interests to stay indoors as much as they can. Any Foreigners who seem helpless or poorly defended will possibly be a target for the aforementioned crime spate. That isn't to say that everyone stepping out of their suite is going to be accosted (since that is entirely up to player discretion!) but characters should definitely be careful if it's in their nature to be so.
If you need any further clarification of these points, please feel free to comment here, or send me a PM under
ironwood or a private plurk to
vonnerdyce. As far as modly shenanigans go, I'm primarily helming this one, so drop me a note!
FOR ALL OF THESE CATEGORIES, feel free to take some liberties. Remember, you don't need to clarify every little detail with us! Have some fun, go wild. As long as what you're doing isn't game breaking and doesn't exceed our Rule of Tens (that is to say: more than ten dead NPCs, more than ten allies or gang-members, etc) you're probably pretty safe, but I'm definitely happy to provide any assurances you might need to take something and run with it.
Please feel free to use this post as a general plotting post as far as your characters are concerned. Everyone's invited!
This event does not have a set 'finish' date, so it can be expected to have a major and/or long-lasting effect on IC gameplay. There isn't going to be a magical reset button that puts everything back to how it was, so that's something else to consider and keep in mind from this point on. We'll let you know if anything changes on that front.
