Event | Satellite Crash Landing | May 21 - 26, 2013
Greetings, chelonauts, and welcome to the planning annoucement for the upcoming Satellite Crash Landing event! Read on for details, then have at thee for plotting and any questions you may have.
Details below the cut,
Satellite Crash Landing
May 21 | Keeliai, Tu Vishan shellside
The early morning hours of May 21st are broken by the sound of a low lying explosion and a veritable rain of fiery bits and bobs such as molten hot metal, space debris and a side-order of plot! For those who are out and about in the early morning (the very early morning) they'll see something roughly meteoric streaking overhead, leaving a debris trail anyone could follow. Several houses are going to be damaged or destroyed outright, others will catch fire and burn. If you'd like your character's residence trashed, let us know and we'll work it out!
Tu Vishan is going to grind to a halt at this sudden commotion. His increased awareness of the population on his back has him a little concerned for their safety.
The object in question is roughly a three hundred tonne satellite cluster, and when it crashes it'll do so with a sonic boom and the rough equivalency of a 6.0 Earthquake. (Anyone living in a Wayne Enterprises building, ie: kedan orphans, will survive intact. He builds those things to last!) It's actually an ARSHEPHELIOS orbital defense platform, which was mentioned briefly here.
Satellite Salvage Forays
May 22 - 26 | Tu Vishan shellside, open sea
Hopefully at this point, the fires are under control and the damage control has begun. And you know what that means, don’t you? Time to haul in salvage! Some of our Atlantean heavy hitters might be interested in dragging pieces of the platform shell-side, while others will be able to find pieces littered throughout the turtle. There will also be kedan salvage expeditions out into the ocean, in case anyone cares to hitch a ride with them if those mean Atlanteans aren't sharing the action.
There is considerable salvage to be gleaned from this, and the technology is on par with a roughly Star Trekian setting. There's enough there to repair any damaged equipment your character might own, or start a make-work project.
While there's definitely a lot of debris, most of the satellite pods themselves are still intact. Which leads us to...
Spectral Enemies
May 23 - 26 | Keeliai, Tu Vishan shellside, open sea
But not all is well on board these satellites. The first time someone cracks open one of the pods, they'll be flooded with energy-based apparitions hellbent on, well, world domination. These nasties are protecting the technology aboard the satellites and will stop at nothing to do so. They are immune to physical attacks, but seem to be injured or dissipated entirely by things like electrical shock or other energy-based projections. If people touch them, it also makes them briefly vulnerable to more... conventional methods, but physical contact has one dangerous side-effect.
Possession.
These creatures can invade someone's psyche, take over their body and cause them to attack friend or foe alike! If the person's body is subjected to sufficient electrical shock, the possession should fade... but are you sure you want to take that chance? Also, characters who are in possession (mind the pun) of a very strong natural will can theoretically oust the spectre all on their own.
And, despite the fact that the spectres are vulnerable to electricity, it also happens to be their main offensive weapon. They'll leave deep-tissue burns on anyone they fight, and you might want to read up on the symptoms of said injuries, just in case.
There will be approximately ten thousand of these creatures released in a veritable flood into Keeliai. It's kill or be killed, cowboys!
And for those who would rather stay indoors (and rightly so!) during this event, some of these spectres have gotten into the biomechanical functions of Keeliai. Consoles will be malfunctioning during this time, with lines of mysterious code and strange, ghostly images. One might hear people screaming for help or hours of patchy radio static.
Tech Impact
Also: the consoles are now eligible for upgrades from the technology that fell out of the sky. We aren't going to limit it to what our imaginations can come up with, so feel free to suggest whatever your character might try and we'll let you know if it would be successful or not for a wide-spread implementation!
As always, feel free to ask questions, come up with your own character plots and generally have a ball. Peace out, intrepid chelonauts!

I hope she's good at staying out of the way, because there's going to be Hulk-thrown debris flying everywhere. xD;

Possessed Kara meets up with Traci, knocks her out; then she fights the Hulk; somewhere in the middle, Traci wakes up again and shocks her into being not possessed; it is doubtful that Hulk will suddenly stop attacking so idk they try to fend him off?? If they ran away he probably wouldn't chase. :|a He has other things to smash.
