tu vishan presents, spa day!

This is a heads up that we've settled on a more 'sedate' event to patch us over until things gear up again! All of the suggestions were lovely and we may implement them in the future, but for the time being we've settled on a fairly passive event – first, everyone will wake up on the 23rd feeling a sense of peace. It's hardly intrusive – more like what happens when you curl up with your favourite blanket fresh out of the dryer.

You see, the actions the foreigners have taken have been working to keep Tu Vishan's sickness at bay, and this is his way of saying 'thank you'.

In addition to this feeling – which affects the kedan and foreigners alike – he will also be swimming into the Resort Spa of sea currents. Not only is the water warm, crystal clear and perfect for dipping one's toes, but the overhead sky is alight with a kaleidoscope of colours both night and day. At night, the Northern Lights are reflected on the glow of the turtle shell and it turns the entire landscape into the equivalent of a living painting. Also, the barrier that's generally in place around the turtle has been extended a bit, granting characters more freedom than usual in how far they can go.

If your character has been sick or injured, or is suffering some other malady, they will find their symptoms are not nearly as severe as they have been, courtesy Turtle Magic. Fish are plentiful here, there's several acres of a sweet, free-floating fruit that characters are welcome to harvest. Eshai, in a rare gesture of magnanimity, has donated some of the Palace's stores to the general public. It looks like the kedan and the foreigners aren't the only ones being affected by the far-reaching turtle-peace! People will find gifts of beautifully crystalized fruit on their doorstep, as well as certain other amenities they may have been lacking in for the last few weeks. They won't last forever, but it's bound to be a nice break.

In light of this surplus, the rationing is going to be temporarily lifted, and Lieuen, seeking to capitalize on this sudden boon, is going to throw the mother of all parties! Sort of.

The days will involve dancing in the streets and the kedan-foreigner relations will see a significant improvement as the strains and stresses of the resource scarcity is briefly lifted. Peace offerings will exchange hands if people were particularly close to certain kedan. Things aren't perfect, but right now they're certainly looking up. People will be stocking fish and the sea-fruits and vendors will be handing out sample skewers of each to anyone who looks interested.

The festival itself is a relatively laid-back affair. It's more a city-wide 'break' than anything. People are free to lounge about or not as they like, and though the police are on the prowl, anyone caught breaking the law will simply receive a stern warning. There will be fireworks shows and cart-races for entertainment, and in the heart of the city where all five sectors meet, a dais has been erected for people to perform. Magic tricks, singing, pantomime, impromptu plays, everything will be welcome here, and people who perform will be paid out of Lieuen's purse for 'enlivening the festival'.

Tu Vishan will remain in this current from April 23rd to May 1st, upon which time he will sadly move on. The sense of peace will fade into a pleasant memory. But relations with the kedan will remain a little better than before, and people may find themselves getting their jobs back or otherwise being drawn back into the fold. The rationing will again be in place by the 4th, once the surplus of food begins to dwindle.

A mingle/party-style log will go up tonight at midnight EST for characters to enjoy the ambiance. As usual, direct any questions here or to [plurk.com profile] vonnerdyce!

ALSO GO AHEAD AND PLOT HERE IF YOU'D LIKE BECAUSE THAT IS A THING.
