Ocean-exploring Foreigners may notice a slow shallowing of the waters commencing the second of December, but it's the dawn of the third that shows hints of land upon the horizon. White-topped cliffs present an impressive wall surrounding the surviving country of Bresilyk and it appears for all intents and purposes that Tu Vishan intends to swim right into it. The kedan are unconcerned by this, going about their business with increased vigour as excitement spreads within the population. Store shelves became bare as stock is taken down and packed efficiently into sacks and carts, merchants happily informing the Foreigners that the White Wall is always a sign that good trade shall come to those that venture forth! This is largely a story passed down through the generations as no living kedan either recalls or cares to share their stories about the last time Tu Vishan halted here, but rare has their history lied to them, so they prepare nonetheless.
Landfall | December 3rd
Dawn of the third shows that Tu Vishan has maneuvered his impressive bulk to run parallel to the White Wall and one fin rises to the surface as a style of bridge. Large snowflakes drift down at a constant and peaceful rate as kedan begin to traverse the fin to the small port of Aihsohlow. The town itself is encased within a crystal dome that rises ten meters above the three story town hall, the highest building in the area, and the climate within the dome is reminiscent of a cool fall day rather than the sharp cold of outside. The climate controls are, as explained by the natives, two or three hundred years old and rely on geothermal heat to keep the temperatures up in the long, cold winters that they experience.
Each and every visitor to Bresilyk is expected to come through the simple customs station in Aihsohlow, where things operate a bit differently. Visitors are asked to sign as register and provide one gift -- a tribute of sorts -- that will be collected by the town officials and then re-gifted to the population as part of the country-wide celebration of the successful harvest and oncoming winter. Yes, they celebrate winter. No, they're not Canadian. The same process is undertaken to access any of the three settlements within the expanded barrier of the turtle -- as well, any party that returns to the turtle and seeks to come back will be asked to provide another gift for their strange, pay-it-forward holiday celebrations. Each visitor shall be given a thin, tin card punched with their date of arrival and are required to carry it upon them as identification should it be demanded by local authorities.
Note that the domes that cover these three settlements are made of a crystalline substance stronger than diamonds. Vandalism of the domes warrants significant jail time and all parties coming through customs will be provided a small handbook of Bresilyk's laws, therefore ignorance is not tolerated as an excuse around here. There is reference to one eccentric scientist being put to the death when he happened upon an acidic parasite that could eat through the substance and that subsequently got away from him and caused the Great Shatter of 736 PD (post-dome).
The Bresilykians | An Overview
The citizens of Bresilyk are, for lack of a better word, floofy. Mind, they are rather tall and elegantly built... if you can see beneath the heavy furs they wear and the thick, flowing hair that grows out of three separate scalps situated on dome-shaped bone structures atop the head and their equivalent of shoulders. Custom dictates that the citizens grow their hair out and use it as a form of insulation against the cold, leading to many, many small shops and signs advertising hair care treatments for their most important survival tool.
They are generally quite pleasant and bear hints of harvest weight, but their clothes are layered thickly to the point of their appearing rotund and it's not unlike crashing into a semi-firm pillow if you walk into one of them. They run hundreds of small businesses at this time and are all too happy to wish visitors a happy harvest, as they are currently reaping the benefits of theirs.
Mind that there are always sour grapes hidden in the vineyard. Crime rates are mediocre and there are police patrolling the streets that may demand identification of visitors. They seem a bit paranoid and, here and there, citizens can be seen quarrelling over the quality of a harvest gift.
Bresilyk | The Winterbound Republic
The country of Bresilyk is approximately 500,000 square kilometres (roughly the size of Spain) and represents the largest surviving republic on Konryu. Recent statistics identify the population to be a mere 19 million, with over fifty percent living in the vast domed metropolis some three hundred kilometres north (at the world's northern pole). This city is, unfortunately, outside the reach of Tu Vishan's barrier, though three of the hundreds of small settlements scattered about the countryside are. Details about these settlements are provided later in this post.
They possess an advanced level of technology, equivalent to what the sci-fi lover's mind could perceive as twenty-second century tech, though they have long held onto the practice of keeping the technology within their borders so as to prevent its abuse. History dictated this action by the Catalyst, a large-scale detonation that permanently scarred the skies a red hue and brought down the long winters in excess of what cold they had already known; a thousand years have passed since then and the scarring of the skies has been repaired to a dozen long red streaks that were once angry tears, but still they are wary. Attempts to steal weapons would result in apprehension by local authorities and immediate revocation of their visa, further meaning that they would be deported to the turtle and not allowed to return; players of characters that may try regardless are asked to post in the appropriate subheader of the comments so that their IC consequences can be determined. Those familiar with the Prime Directive may better understand this policy. Understanding or not, visitors will not be permitted to purchase any advanced weapons for return to the turtle; they may buy trinkets and futuristic conveniences, such as the folding portable sauna that gives off a lilac scent, but the purchase of weapons technology is expressly forbidden.

The countryside is layered with snow that is up to four meters deep, all fallen within the past two months as a cold season falls upon the country. There are numerous roads in between towns and small, domed minesteads and each road is oddly clear of snow and ice. Closer inspection reveals that the surfaces are heated by some technology buried beneath the black surfaces. Occasional construction crews can be seen tearing up or laying down new surfacing over a web of thick, coated wires that presumably provide the heat. Snow is often found sculpted near crossroads, taking artistic shape in anything from beautifully arched sculptures to recreations of local fauna.
Wildlife can be spotted here and there, with a large herd of antlered beasts making their way across the snowy grounds. Webbing between their toes (yes, toes) allows each of the large, white animals to traverse upon the snow-tops with barely a print left in their wake. Hunting parties can be seen chasing after the fringes of this herd while wearing some sort of hovering harness and it is evident that the beasts are a primary source of meat for the people. Birds flit back and forth, a few predatory mammals can be spied at the edges of the icebound forests, and there are a variety of serpentine pets kept by residents fortunate to live in the warmer domed towns.
Speaking of towns, the three within the barrier's reach are spaced roughly twenty kilometres away from one another, forming a triangle of commerce that sustains each. Aihsohlow represents the southernmost town, Phorezton the northernmost, and Markutte the northeastern one. There are a variety of small minesteads in between that would greet travellers, but only reluctantly allow them into their homes. Phorezton | The Wood Miners Abode
The smokey, warm home of the wood miners guild. This is a thriving secondary industry, with the center of town being devoted to an elevator that descends into a large cavern in which a strange form of fungus grows that possesses many of the same traits of wood. The majority of the town works at some job related to the Rhook fungus, either in the mining or the processing of it. They build and sell beautiful Rhook furniture, carts, and other wood-based paraphernalia here. A number of auctions (see end of the post) are held here, with the items often bearing a smokey scent or bit of ash - explained as having been recovered from the ashes of a recent fire.
All visitors must report to their customs entry, an easy diversion given that it is the only entry into the town. Provision of an adequate gift will result in their tin visa being stamped with a series of lines that looks like the rings of a tree. The police here are marginally more relaxed about proof of identification, but they are sharply on the lookout for arson and any property-related crimes. There is a smokey scent hanging in the air and a whole section of the city is little more than a warm, charred cinder. Questions about this earn the explanation of a dark mindset overcoming half the residents of that area only two months back and it worsened quickly into strife. One night, the area went up in flames and many of the residents perished with their homes and nearly the whole town was lost. Since then, they have been careful about fires and changes in personality both, with many residents currently residing in jail until their foul tempers dissipate.
Markutte | The Buyer's Bliss
The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.
Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.
Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.
The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

Each town outlined above runs daily auctions with a small set of lots salvaged from the area -- suggesting that this is a commonplace event here, strangely enough. Each and every item requested and approved can only be bought at one of these auctions. Whether your character buys it or another does and gives it to them is up to you, as is the price that the item goes for (characters can obtain the local currency via exchanges or simple sales). It can be found in whatever town you prefer, leaving up all the plotting to you guys as to how these auctions pan out.

Harvest Haul | Countrywide Festival
All of Bresilyk is currently celebrating a month-long harvest festival that concludes a brief, but hearty growing season. Preserved foods and sweet delicacies are frequently found for sale at every market and the evenings in each town can generally be found to have a controlled series of bonfires with bundles of dried flowers thrown upon them, pay-to-attend feast, and folk dance that stretches late into the night. The mood is relatively light, though occasionally a citizen may mention that the jovial days are numbered. They will mention a dark shadow crossing the minds of all in the land and then move closer to the nearest light.
Gifts are a major portion of the Harvest Haul and every citizen who receives a gift will pay-it-forward by gifting the next person they see with some trinket, treasure, or treat. This continues throughout the festival and, at random, town authorities will be found giving out special Harvest Haul gifts (collected via the customs points at each city).
Players are free to assume their character(s) will receive dozens of small gifts throughout the landfall, the cumulative value not exceeding roughly eight juulan. The gifts from the authorities, however, are worth somewhat more and are subject to a sign-up, as outlined below.

Kedan messangers taking the form of swift-flying birds begin to search out Foreigners and landfalled kedan alike on the morning of the 11th, advising the Tu Vishan has started to shift in the water. The news is that he will depart within the day and all are urged to return to the turtle as soon as possible. Characters that do not make it back to Tu Vishan in time will expire once the barrier moves beyond them and any goods they have on their person will be lost to the landfall, with the character waking up in the palace once more.

This continues throughout the festival and, at random, town authorities will be found giving out special Harvest Haul gifts (collected via the customs points at each city).
Players are free to assume their character(s) will receive dozens of small gifts throughout the landfall, the cumulative value not exceeding roughly eight juulan. The gifts from the authorities, however, are worth somewhat more and are subject to a sign-up, as outlined below.

Brilliant everglow lamps, hypnotising sun-catching wind chimes, elegant data-storing crystalline sheets, never-melting ice sculptures, finely crafted body armour, a set of fine salves that cure any illness; these are but a sampling of what the town officials will be handing out as special gifts during the Harvest Haul! Please note that a maximum of 20 special gifts will be awarded to the players. To facilitate the widest spread of treasures, we ask that each player only submit ONE of their characters for this RNG selection. Additionally, if a character received something during the Sinbrilee event, please do not submit the character again for this event; this, again, is to spread the special items around.
Deadline to sign-up is December 1st at the end of day; this will allow the mods time to compile and create descriptions of the items being gifted.
Departure | December 11th
Kedan messangers taking the form of swift-flying birds begin to search out Foreigners and landfalled kedan alike on the morning of the 11th, advising the Tu Vishan has started to shift in the water. The news is that he will depart within the day and all are urged to return to the turtle as soon as possible. Characters that do not make it back to Tu Vishan in time will expire once the barrier moves beyond them and any goods they have on their person will be lost to the landfall, with the character waking up in the palace once more.

I figure this is a good opportunity for people who want to reconnect to do so? Run-ins are good, especially at the festival since she'll be more inclined to have a good time. I think she might also venture out into the countryside a bit if anyone wants to set something there!

ARTHUR will be similarly excited by the tech, though more for personal reasons than the "greater good" motives that Shepard has. He won't steal anything, but he'll definitely be interested in picking up some toys (drugs?)

Dick (the elder) & Billy
Dick is going to do some wandering, though he'll probably stick to Phorezton and Markutte, because just going to say no to fish. He may be in Markutte longer, though, since he loves places like these, so you can find him around anywhere there. He'll also be doing some bonfires and a yes to folk dancing (bring out the Romani side of him).
BUT. Dick has been saving his money for a long time, so if you want, Dick will bid on anyone's items at auctions, so long as they are slightly on the cheap side! Hell yes does he want to get people things that they love and/or need, and he loves playing Santa Claus.
Billy is going to check everything out, pretty much. Probably going to be with friends? Maybe? He'll probably go to the feast, definitely to the bonfires, maybe check out the countryside. He's good for run-ins of any kind, new or old, he needs to be a little more social.
I'm still figuring out what items Dick/Billy will have coming to them, but when I do, I will let people know!

Tazendra will be doing much the same, though she is definitely hitting the bars. I'm open to her getting into minor trouble (as in 'she wasn't drunk, but the authorities don't care how drunk you are when you pick fights') if someone wants to bail her out/get into similar trouble/get caught in the crossfire.
Zelgadis will be expressing curiosity at the tech and trying to learn as much about it as he can, especially medical tech. (The guns are not as tempting, because he's a fricken sorcerer and can summon fire and lightning.) This may also lead to trouble.
JACK / RAVEN / STOCKING / BAKURA
RAVEN & STOCKING have no definite plans yet, but I'm happy to volunteer them for buying auctioned things and general CR!

Up for auction is going to be a copy of a book on trans-dimensional travel that SHE WROTE - I would really love for someone else to get this and then confront her about it.
She'll be making up with Robert, too, so like Kirk said, Lutece tag teams will be back in effect after that happens.
Cecil I need a bit more help with! He'll be out and about, really interested in everything. He's going to get his hands on one of his items, his CASSETTE TAPES, but! I would really like for someone else to find his other item. This item is Khoshekh, a "cat" (a small monster, really, who vaguely resembles a cat) who is stuck floating at a fixed point in the air. I would really like for someone to get Khoshekh, be understandably freaked out because he's kind of a monster, and then wind up giving him to Cecil.
Also those cassette tapes are going to scare the living daylights out of Cecil, so if anyone wants to be party to that lemme know.
