TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!

Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
  1. Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
  2. Tag around with everyone!
  3. Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
  1. A Chance Meeting at the Turtle's Head.
Remember, being here causes a great sense of-- well, shall we say inner peace.
  2. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtleshell!
  3. Hey, I Just Met You, and This is Crazy...
First impressions are always the most important, right?
  4. WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun' esque experience. Please specify in your post!
This marks the official start of the monthly test drive meme and, to celebrate, we're giving a new feature a shot. The first comment/thread on this test drive is going to be titled ENABLE ME and it's where you post character accounts/muselists, etc and others (members, passerbys, shoulder demons) can enable you to apply to Tu Shanshu! Come, let us enable you to the turtletastic madness!

Seems like a waste of a resource. [He might not be Penelope, but he knows how useful technology can be, and it seems weird that the kedan don't make use of the consoles.]

I'll have to work on it. [He'd rather not come across like he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, especially if the kedan are likely to take advantage of it. But he manages a wry sort of laugh at the comment about wrapping his head around things.] Tell me about, man, this is all some weird sci-fi shit.

I think they mostly think we're a waste of resources. [He points that out lightly. It's true, though - the kedan are singularly uninterested in the Foreigners.]

There's not really much you can do about it - all the Foreigners stand out, obviously. [His lips twitch a little.] I'm still not entirely sure this is real, but try asking on the network about magic.

[That gives him a moment pause, 'cause he's seen the Foreigner suites compared to the rest of the place, and he can't exactly argue that point.] That'd explain some of the hostility. [He's caught up on everything that's public knowledge, partly thanks to Reid, but mostly due to his own digging.

But he just shakes his head at the comment about standing out, it's an unfortunate situation, but Arthur's right about it being impossible to change.]
Oh, trust me, I've heard more than enough about magic to last me a life time. I think the boy genius gave me fifty different theories for how it all worked before he even said hello.

[Spoiler: Reid never actually said hello, but Derek sounds a little bit fond talking about him.]
aloadeddie: (hrrrm?)

[Arthur understands totally, as well, after all, this place has pretty limited resources, so it stands to reason that having a bunch of strangers showing up would put a strain on already-strained resources.

That, and he's used to hostile projections.]

Boy genius? [His mind doesn't go immediately to Reid - maybe because he's spoken to a couple of guys younger than him who would qualify for that title.]

Dr. Reid. He's about this high. [He holds up a hand at Reid height] Looks like a strong breeze'd knock him over and doesn't know how to shut up.

[They are best friends can you tell.]
aloadeddie: (i can sure explain that!)

[personal profile] aloadeddie 2013-03-07 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, I've met him. He's got some really interesting theories about this place. You're a co-worker? Friend? [Clearly a friend, but maybe a colleague, too. The way Morgan talks about Reid almost reminds Arthur of himself and Eames.]

[personal profile] crashtackle 2013-03-07 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
You got off lucky if you still think they're interesting. [Look he's had to listen to basically all of them since he got here, and unlike Reid, Derek isn't exactly up-to-date on things like multiversal theory.] Both, someone's gotta keep an eye on him out in the field.

[He knows Reid hasn't made it a secret that he works for the FBI, so.

And he's just going to pretend words like "co-worker" or "friend" are strong enough. The whole team is family, even if that hurts a little with Prentiss leaving.]
aloadeddie: (shit is going down)

[personal profile] aloadeddie 2013-03-08 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
It's good he's got someone to look out for him here, too. [Hey, as far as Arthur is concerned, Reid is probably the one most likely to figure this whole thing out, if only by accident.

Unless he turns out to be a projection, in which case, they're probably all screwed.]

Can't fault the Emperor for her decision making skills on that one, even if I resent being brought here to babysit. [Not that he really thinks that's the reason he's brought here.

...Not that he really knows why he's brought here, he's just sure there's a little more to it than "make sure Reid doesn't get into too much trouble."]
