Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle! But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
- Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
- Where there's a will, there's a...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what starts out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! It's just appeared in front of you. Though, it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
- Let's play cops and robbers!
Local law enforcement is handled by the Keeliai Police Department, an organization of both Foreigners and kedan dedicated to keeping the peace in the turtle... and they're about to make a raid on a large, illegal gambling ring! Are you going to collar the nearest bad guy, or are you one of the high rollers now looking to make a quick escape? Or a bookie who's now getting booked downtown?
- Wait... you want my what now?!
The kedan are a curious folk, and the Foreigners are entertainment in conveniently arriving packages, especially when they come along with unique items that the kedan might not have seen before. Maybe it's your cellphone... or maybe it's your knickers! How badly do you want to keep your stuff from some overeager native shapeshifters who want to buy, bribe, or burglarize it right off your person?
- Sea prunes, get your sea prunes right here!
Life in Keeliai can take a little getting used to: the chickens have scales, the cows have feathers, and the fruits come in more colour and pattern combinations than your average tye-dye shirt. Not to mention that meal you just ordered from the food vendor? Has arrived on the plate, and you're pretty sure you just saw it move.
- Everybody needs a little darkness...
The Great Enemy may have been defeated over two years ago, and people are even willing to speak Malicant's name aloud now, but there remains a taint in the city never fully purged. Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...
- Illicit substances, anyone?
Every city has its vices, and Keeliai is no different. Perhaps you actively sought it out, or perhaps an opportunistic dealer saw you as a potential customer needing a free sample, but you're now in possession of a packet of Lucid, an emotion-enhancing drug. Interested in finding out what happens when you crush that colourful crystal and ingest it?
- Incoming!
Tu Vishan's latest landfall stop has brought an unwelcome problem to its residents: enormous, toothy creatures who look more like pterosaurs than most people are comfortable with! With a twenty-foot wingspan, these aren't exactly harmless local wildlife, and they have a nasty habit of swooping down on targets both Foreigner and kedan! How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??
(Please note: This scenario isn't applicable to becoming game canon if you choose to app your character, as an alien pterosaur attack is a major event.)
- WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the uncontrollable urge to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Anything goes!

Wolf | The Tenth Kingdom
Would you believe that Wolf was this gambling den because of a completely honest mistake? Yeah, he wouldn't either, even if it was true! Well, yes, he knew it was a gambling ring when he had come down here, but he wasn't here to gamble, he was here to see a man about goat, or whatever passed for a goat here, that has swallowed something important that he'd dropped.
Which isn't to say that he hadn't been gambling. See, the man said that he'd sell Wolf the goat for 50 Juulan and he was about 49 Juulan short. Gambling seemed like the obvious solution!
But yeah, he's totally running for it. Everyone else is running for the doors, but he spots a ladder and starts climbing for the roof!
[7 BORN TO GORGE, that's me!]
Wolf scratches his neck neurotically. Why was he feeling this way? The moon wasn't remotely full? But the hunger, it was coming.
He'd smelled someone, something. What had it done to him? He'd tried to chase them but they'd gotten away. Now he found himself in the middle of the Fire District and the sights and smells were overwhelming.
A woman beckoned to him from the street and he couldn't help but follow, her smell was intoxicating. He knew a brothel when he saw one. The only thing he could imagine that could improve the situation was if it had an in-house buffet.
"Like what you see?" she asked.
"I'm absolutely drooling," he replied in a manic tone. She smelled strange but he was confident that he could satisfy his appetite. All of them. His eyes started to glow orange as the wolf awoke.
She recoiled. "What's wrong with your eyes?"
"NOTHING!" he spun away from her and ran away, looking for someone dark and cold, because everything was so unimaginably hot.
4.
"I'm afraid that exit's sealed. Sorry." He makes a face of mock concern as he leans against the nearby wall, ignoring the chaos as best he can.
no subject
"Yeah, nice try!" Wolf makes for the exit anyway, finding that it's just as sealed as Sherlock predicted- or, likely, deduced.
Wolf shakes the hatch in frustration, even banging on the thick plate glass, which don't budge from their sturdy frame.
Wolf descends the ladder, his metaphorical ears pressed against his head. He can't help but notice Sherlock just chilling out in the middle of a bust, and just wanders over, as calm as he can. In actuality this is extremely awkward, with a long exaggerated gait that sends him bouncing left and right with every step.
He leans against the wall next to Sherlock, trying to blend in.
"So... you're not going to arrest me?"
no subject
"I'd say you're new and only wound up here by misfortune."
no subject
And not being the one who runs things and getting in trouble anyway is hardly a new thing to Wolf. In fact, the people who run things usually didn't get arrested and it was wolves like him that took the fall.
Aliya Haskell | OC
Aly chewed her lip, thinking. The Otherside had rules, but not many. It was entirely possible that she'd been drawn to this strange city against her will. And she still felt like she was Otherside. A quick glance at herself confirmed it - leather armor, a copper mace hanging from her belt, and a drab green cloak with a ruff of white fur about her shoulders, held together with a clasp in the shape of a red maple leaf.
She didn't like this. Luckily she still had an escape route. She reached her hand out into the air, turned her wrist, and pulled.
Nothing.
She tried again. Nothing. She let her eyes drift shut, trying not to panic. She could still see all of her lines, but they faded out into nothingness. Even the line she could feel in her hand, the one that connected her to the forest to which she had a land tie.
She didn't like this. Not one bit.
"What the hell is this place?" she asked nobody in particular, trying not to sound agitated.
no subject
She clears her throat. "This is Keeliai." She says, gently. It's obvious this woman is a new arrival. "You aren't where you were before." That's not very helpful. "Are you hungry? I was just going to lunch, and I can explain some things."
no subject
But, and this is an enormous but, this could all be a fae trap. And eating fae food is no good at all. Sure, it looks mouthwateringly delicious, and probably tastes even better, but it comes with a heavy price. She doesn't want to get stuck here.
'Keeliai' isn't one of the fae realms she's heard of before, and she's never seen one like this - a city proper, not a court in a forest. But this could be an illusion. This could all be an illusion.
Ooooohhh! Otherside shit makes her head hurt half the time! She's half a mind to give the wolf an earful next time she sees him.
...if she sees him.
Nope, nope, not even gonna think that way. Positive. This place is shaped by willpower, so think positive, Haskell. I am getting the hell outta here.
There's something about this woman that seems familiar - something she likes. Still, she's cautious. "I'll go with you. I'll pass on the food, but I'll take the explanation," she says.
no subject
Brigid settles at a table, and orders a pot of tea. She'll pass on the food until her guest wants some as well. "Welcome to Keeliai." Brigid says. "It's a city on the back of a giant turtle. There's a magic spell in place bringing in people from other worlds to fight an already defeated evil. The spellcaster is dead, the evil is vanquished, and we're all stuck here." Brigid isn't having a very good week.
no subject
"That sounds...about normal for me," she admits. "But I'm gonna have to call shenanigans on that spell thingy. That's not cool." She does have experience with that, actually, but it's been by people who know her and her energy signature, and not some random...magical giant Great A'Tuin cosmic turtle wake! It's unacceptable!
"Mm, yeah, nothing's impossible. I'm getting home. And I'm getting rid of this shackle," she says, spinning the labradorite ring on her finger. "Whatever this is, it showed up on me, and I'm more than a bit suspicious of it. I'm used to looking gift horses in the mouth. I practically stick my head down their throats."
no subject
"It's not kind, no." She sighs. "That would be your soul-gem. As near as I understand it, and I'm sure Zatanna would be able to tell you more, your soul is now housed in that gem. Don't get separated from it." Brigid has hers on her at all times.
She settles back in her chair. "There are people who have been here for years. They are all rather smart, and they're still stuck here." She smiles a bit, soft around the edges as she thinks of Jackie. "And it's not all bad."
no subject
Preposterous!
"I'm not buying it so hard it's a copy of Twilight."

Leo Whitefang | Guilty Gear
Ah, there's nothing like busting some criminals the first thing in the morning. Or at night. Or anytime, really. Some thief tried to take off and all Leo had to do was grab the guy by his shirt and stare him down.
"This may be a foreign land, but I won't allow crime to run rampant. You deserve grave punishment for what you've done."
Harsh? Perhaps, but the great Lion King doesn't go soft on the criminal element, no matter where he is. The cops didn't even have to ask for his help.
6. There's a hare on my plate
With the appetite of a king, Leo strolls around the food vendors. There's nothing he recognizes, but the smells are alluring enough. He's sure the cuisine is perfectly fine. He orders whatever comes with the highest recommendation and sits down with what appears to be a steak. But why is it garnished with feathers? A-and did it just wiggle?
Then he takes a bite, and lo and behold... "This is... INCREDIBLE!" Apologies to anyone sitting around him, because he's going to stand and praise what could be the best steak he's had in his life. "A meal fit for royalty!"
6.
"I believe that's more effusive praise than they might be used to from Foreigners here," she said, smiling at him.
no subject
"Are you from this area, Madam?" Because he might want to know more about this world's cuisine.
no subject
(It definitely didn't come from the kind of cow he might be expecting.)
"Well, I'm not from here originally, I'm from a place called Columbia, but I've been in Keeliai several months now."
no subject
The young woman's response has him tilting his head. "Columbia? As in the country?" It's a name he's not heard in a while.
no subject
Then she bit her lower lip, just for a second, before shaking her head. "No, not the country. Well, it did succeed, but it's a floating city called Columbia... in my world, that is. No one else here seems to have heard of it, but we're all from different places. Where are you the king of, your majesty? Am I allowed to call you that?"
no subject
"A floating city? I can't say I've heard of it either, but my world does have a floating continent. Their president is quite the character." And thankfully an ally.
He nods to the latter questions. "It is quite all right to call me Your Majesty. And what is your name, madam?"
sorry for the delay!
no worries o/
Chloé Bourgeois | Miraculous
Are you, fricken, crazy? This is a Louie Vuitton, you don't sell something like this for a handful of Chuck-e-Cheese tokens.
[ She clutches her purse to her chest as if it's a child. ]
In fact, I should charge you just for seeing it.
[ Cops and Robbers (Sort of) ]
Hey! HEY YOU! You're a knock off police officer or whatever passes for authority around here, right? I need you to arrest this lizard thing, RIGHT NOW.
[ She gestures to a Kedan who looks to be an equal mix of enraged, perplexed and despairing. ]
He assaulted me!
[ This isn't what I ordered ]
Excuse me. [ Other people in line? What other people in line? ]
I ordered a salmon not whatever... THIS is!
[ She slams the plate onto the counter so hard that the purple sea prune splatters onto the face of the attendant. ]
This isn't what I ordered
But that doesn't make the actual spending time with her part any easier. He grimaces inwardly, before clearing his throat moving in a little, that Agreste charm put on to full effect. ]
Sorry about that. She didn't mean to do that, monsieur. It was an accident. We'll just...go. Sorry again.
[With one hand, he carefully attempts to herd Chloé away from the attendant before anything else happens. His voice lowers a little, so only she can hear. His tone is chiding, but not aggressive. ]
That wasn't nice, Chloé.
no subject
Crooks like that don't deserve nice, they deserve to be jailed for fraud.
[ And then there's a sudden change as she realizes that he's holding her hand. She leans in close, stroking his arm and pressing into him. ]
But all that isn't important. Isn't this so romantic, Adrien? It's like we've been whisked off together on a magical vacation! Well, for certain definitions of 'magical' and 'vacation.' But the most important thing is that we're together.
no subject
[Ugh. And now his is happening. Adrien tries to keep his face as neutral as possible, staring off into the middle distance somewhere, quietly trying to extricate his arm from her. This was a mistake. ]
I wouldn't call it romantic, but it is nice to have a friend from home around.
[He'll put as much emphasis on friend as he possibly can. ]
no subject
It reminds me of the time my father took us on a trip to Hong Kong. Have you ever been? It was so great, so much culture, although they really need to print all their signs and brochures in French.
no subject
[His tone is still patient. Strained, true, but largely patient. He's had years od knowing how to deal with her. He could do it in his sleep.]
I guess they don't really think of printing much in other languages. I suppose you could get a guidebook back home and take it with you?
