Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle! But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
- Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
- Where there's a will, there's a...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what starts out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! It's just appeared in front of you. Though, it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
- Let's play cops and robbers!
Local law enforcement is handled by the Keeliai Police Department, an organization of both Foreigners and kedan dedicated to keeping the peace in the turtle... and they're about to make a raid on a large, illegal gambling ring! Are you going to collar the nearest bad guy, or are you one of the high rollers now looking to make a quick escape? Or a bookie who's now getting booked downtown?
- Wait... you want my what now?!
The kedan are a curious folk, and the Foreigners are entertainment in conveniently arriving packages, especially when they come along with unique items that the kedan might not have seen before. Maybe it's your cellphone... or maybe it's your knickers! How badly do you want to keep your stuff from some overeager native shapeshifters who want to buy, bribe, or burglarize it right off your person?
- Sea prunes, get your sea prunes right here!
Life in Keeliai can take a little getting used to: the chickens have scales, the cows have feathers, and the fruits come in more colour and pattern combinations than your average tye-dye shirt. Not to mention that meal you just ordered from the food vendor? Has arrived on the plate, and you're pretty sure you just saw it move.
- Everybody needs a little darkness...
The Great Enemy may have been defeated over two years ago, and people are even willing to speak Malicant's name aloud now, but there remains a taint in the city never fully purged. Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...
- Illicit substances, anyone?
Every city has its vices, and Keeliai is no different. Perhaps you actively sought it out, or perhaps an opportunistic dealer saw you as a potential customer needing a free sample, but you're now in possession of a packet of Lucid, an emotion-enhancing drug. Interested in finding out what happens when you crush that colourful crystal and ingest it?
- Incoming!
Tu Vishan's latest landfall stop has brought an unwelcome problem to its residents: enormous, toothy creatures who look more like pterosaurs than most people are comfortable with! With a twenty-foot wingspan, these aren't exactly harmless local wildlife, and they have a nasty habit of swooping down on targets both Foreigner and kedan! How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??
(Please note: This scenario isn't applicable to becoming game canon if you choose to app your character, as an alien pterosaur attack is a major event.)
- WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the uncontrollable urge to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Anything goes!

Devin followed the woman with ease, drifting through the crowd without so much as touching another person - one of the few traits he liked about being a vampire was the physical grace it provided.
"If it eases your mind any," he began after a minute or two, "I prefer not to consume from the vein. It's safer, by far, and less unpleasant for all parties involved."
no subject
"That does help, yes."
She moved just as gracefully as he did, the people noticing her passing more than they used to. Another unfortunate fact of her existence. She led him to the Hotel, which luckily still maintained the magical doors.
"For future, does the freshness matter?"
Since it wasn't exactly something they stored.
no subject
"I'll make a note to lead with that one next time," he said by way of a half-hearted joke. Devin had been apprised of the Hotel's existence, but hadn't thoroughly investigated it yet.
"So long as it's not rancid, it'll do," he answered. "And my requirements are not drastic. A pint would suffice for a week or two." So on the order of the average donation a human would make to a blood bank. Not enough to kill them by far. "My name is Devin, by the way, as it seems we haven't introduced ourselves yet."
no subject
"For now, we'll just have to use mine and hope you don't go insane," She opened a cupboard, pulling out a glass, then paused, "Unless you have a better idea?"
She wasn't human, but hopefully that wouldn't make a major difference and a little blood loss wouldn't affect her in the slightest.
no subject
He followed, looking faintly bemused as he entered the kitchen. "If there's a significant risk that your blood will have adverse effects on me, I've time enough to find someone else," he replied. Devin already knew she wasn't an average human, and perhaps wasn't human at all. "The buffer would be appreciated, however. You've my permission to remove my head if I become unmanageable," he offered.
The lack of a returned introduction is noted. He was just trying to be polite, but he understood the desire for secrecy.

Valdis rummaged in a drawer for a knife, a small one that she could easily use to keep the wound open. She placed the cup in the sink to reduce cleanup if she spilled. Then she slipped the blade into her wrist, twisting it a bit to open the wound wider and holding it in place to prevent the wound from closing.
"My name is Valdis, by the way," She said, almost casually as she let her blood flow into the glass.
no subject
Devin didn't have a death wish, technically speaking. He just didn't value his life all that highly, when it came to protect other people. He watched her impassively as she drew the knife across her wrist. As evidence of his control, Devin relaxed against a table, absent any sign of predatory instincts despite the smell of blood filling his nostrils.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Valdis." And it was, in a way. She seemed reasonable enough; attractive to look at and willing to assist. He was wary, though - someone not so unlike her had nearly destroyed him in an attempt to end the world. "Remind me to buy you a drink in exchange, some time."
no subject
The coppery smell of blood stung his nose the moment he opened the door, and he dropped the mug, the piece of gimcrackery shattering loudly.
He knew what he was seeing, but he couldn't entirely process it - that Valdis was giving the blood to Devin was inconsequential. All he could focus on was that there was a vampire - a Blood Breed, here.
There was no angry snarl like one might expect from someone acting on pure instinct. Every muscle in his body tensed and Klaus lunged forward, his sleeve tearing as the the mechanism drew out his knuckledusters. There was nothing in Klaus's eyes except old fear and bitter cold fury.
His blood welled up at the center jewel of the dusters, forming into a sharp, conical spearhead as he drew his fist back. He wasn't going for Devin's head - his aim was fixed right on his heart.
no subject
She glanced down to check how full the glass was, sighed and twisted the blade deeper so the blood continued to flow. The sound of the door opening drew her attention, despite knowing who it was. The look on Klaus' face told her quite a bit about what would happen. And, well, it wouldn't be good...for Devin. Oops.
"Klaus," She said sharply, putting the knife down, "It's ok."
no subject
There wasn't time to explain himself, as the man vaulted forward and some kind of bizarre weaponry formed at his fists. Devin has spent his life fighting, so it's with a calculated sort of calm that he dodged the strike, zipping across the room at inhuman speed to the point of being a mere blur.
"And a good evening to you as well," he remarked casually, holding his hands up when he stopped. "I don't recall doing anything lately that called for attempted murder."
no subject
Klaus was well used to the unnatural speed vampires possessed, and he pivoted on his heel, following Devin's movements closely with his gaze.
Devin's attempt at banter wasn't met in kind. All that came out of Klaus's mouth was:
"Pattern 39."
Klaus struck the floor as blood once again welled in the jewel centerpiece of his dusters, and suddenly the kitchen was a lot more cramped. Gnarled and jagged crosses sprung up from the floor in Klaus's calculated effort to fence Devin in.
no subject
"Remember Anton," she snapped, her irises as bright as the gem in her sword, "If you can't then you'll have to fight me."
The holy sword flashed as she lifted it upright into a defensive position.
no subject
Crosses had never given him cause for bother. "Fascinating," he murmured.
Valdis putting herself between them is yet another unexpected move; he's not worth anyone getting hurt for. "I've no quarrel with you," Devin called, still keeping his posture relaxed and open. "And it seems we share a common hatred for my species."
no subject
Whatever mental ledge Klaus had been teetering on, Anton's name yanked him back. At least enough so that he stopped in his tracks, still poised to strike at any moment.
This was definitely not the man Valdis had sparred with - Klaus here was a man at the end of a frayed rope, and he looked ready to tear Devin to shreds.
He didn't say a word - he reigned in the cold fury enough to allow Devin to speak his piece.
no subject
"Anton's rule still stands, right?" She asked, lowering her sword and trying to relax, "He hasn't hurt anyone, he's not fighting you...and you've gone and made a mess in the kitchen."
She shook her head, "Do you think I'd have brought him here if he was going to be a problem?"
no subject
Something about Anton was important, clearly, and important enough to stop Klaus in the middle of his rampage. He had to admit that was impressive.
Devin kept his hands up still, and his volume low as he spoke. "It was not my intention to make you feel threatened," he began slowly. "Or to surprise you. Clearly you've encountered my kind before, and I don't blame you for the use of violence. It's nothing I don't deserve, and in point of fact I hunt my kind where I come from. But I'm here to ensure I don't harm anyone. If you need me to leave, I will; if you insist on continuing this fight, let us at least go where no bystanders or property will be damaged, and you can take out your anger on me there if so desired."
He'd fight back, of course, but he'd do his best not to kill Klaus if it came to that.
no subject
He stood a bit straighter, his eyes fixed on Devin as though waiting for him to make a sudden move.
Valdis was right, after all. But Valdis being right wasn't going to just crush something so ingrained in Klaus's psyche. As far as Klaus was concerned, the closest thing to a 'good' vampire was that there were some that didn't play with their food first.
"I acted rashly - my apologies," he said, the usual warmth and kindness in his tone utterly gone.
"The hotel is neutral ground, Blood Breed. But if you lay a hand on anyone here, I will seal you."
no subject
"I'm sorry, Klaus," she said, "I didn't realize it was so bad."
Her voice trembled, whether from her emotions or his, she didn't know, but it sounded weird to her. Klaus was massive and he hadn't felt like him in those last few moments.
"I'll see him out of the hotel, I promise." After she had fed him, but she was definitely not going to tell Klaus that. The man might lose it again.
no subject
He wasn't after sympathy, but he knew it was difficult to believe that he killed his own. Regardless, he was still a monster, even if he hunted other monsters.
"I'd offer you proof if I thought you'd believe me, but I can see I've overstayed my welcome before it got started," he added lightly.
