Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle! But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
- Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
- Where There's A Will, There's A...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what starts out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! It's just appeared in front of you. Though, it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
- SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE!
The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market. Maybe you haven't been hired by them at all, but are using their name for your own goals... as long as no one discovers the lie!
- Wait... you want my what now?!
The kedan are a curious folk, and the Foreigners are entertainment in conveniently arriving packages, especially when they come along with unique items that the kedan might not have seen before. Maybe it's your cellphone... or maybe it's your knickers! How badly do you want to keep your stuff from some overeager native shapeshifters who want to buy, bribe, or burglarize it right off your person?
- Sea prunes, get your sea prunes right here!
Life in Keeliai can take a little getting used to: the chickens have scales, the cows have feathers, and the fruits come in more colour and pattern combinations than your average tye-dye shirt. Not to mention that meal you just ordered from the food vendor? Has arrived on the plate, and you're pretty sure you just saw it move.
- Everybody needs a little darkness...
The Great Enemy may have been defeated over two years ago, and people are even willing to speak Malicant's name aloud now, but there remains a taint in the city never fully purged. Those who consider Malicant a dark god whose end was unjust are the cultists of Keeliai, and they aren't always so easy to identify as one might think. Sometimes their presence is felt in the growing urge to give into one's darker instincts, especially in such a foreign place...
- Illicit substances, anyone?
Every city has its vices, and Keeliai is no different. Perhaps you actively sought it out, or perhaps an opportunistic dealer saw you as a potential customer needing a free sample, but you're now in possession of a packet of Lucid, an emotion-enhancing drug. Interested in finding out what happens when you crush that colourful crystal and ingest it?
- Incoming!
Tu Vishan's latest landfall stop has brought an unwelcome problem to its residents: enormous, toothy creatures who look more like pterosaurs than most people are comfortable with! With a twenty-foot wingspan, these aren't exactly harmless local wildlife, and they have a nasty habit of swooping down on targets both Foreigner and kedan! How are you going to fend them off, or help someone who might have been injured by the latest dive bombing??
(Please note: This scenario isn't applicable to becoming game canon if you choose to app your character, as an alien pterosaur attack is a major event.)
- WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the uncontrollable urge to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Anything goes!

Avell Talsun | Original Character
[It's been a long time since Avell has been in a bar that has actual people in it. True, where she was before had it's own few makeshift ones, but the company was decidedly lacking, in one way or another.
She steps inside, dark hair tied back in a tiny ponytail and takes in the scene around her. She's on the shorter side, a mere 5'2" and skinny as her build is, there's something about her that screams strength. Whether it's in her attitude and mannerisms, or something else entirely goes unsaid.
Moving to the bar, Avell drops a few coins on the counter.]
Whisky.
[The word bears a faded French accent. It seems she's been away from home for a very long time.]
[Wildcard: Collection]
[In the marketplace stalks a woman, a metal bat rested on her shoulder. She takes her time, half taking in the sights but clearly looking for someone as well. Eventually she comes to a pause, staring down a particular vendor and smirking to herself.
The bat is tapped twice on the vendor's counter.]
You. Old Red Cape demands his payment. It is best not to keep him waiting.
[Wildcard: Rain]
[She's been doing just fine, getting from a to b. Sure she's had a few run ins with poor weather, but so far she's managed to play it out well enough. This time however, the rain looks to be catching up on her quicker than she'd like, and the afternoon crowd has all but stopped her in her tracks.
Thus she pushes and shoves, trying to work her way through the crowd without panicking or doing any unnecessary harm.]
C'mon move. Move you stupid fuck.
[Perhaps it's karma that draws the rain down quicker. The rain starts to fall, only light for the moment but seeming to get heavier with each drop. She needs to get off the street, away from this weather and to cover of some form.
A little more aggressively, Avell starts to push her way through the crowd, static crackling off her skin as she goes.]
Move, move, move!
Collection!
[A voice is coming from behind Avell, from a man in a black coat, arms folded.
He doesn't look amused.]
D'you usually bring weapons when asking for money?
no subject
I do, yes. Mostly because my bat goes where I go.
no subject
[His expression darkens slightly, he glances at the kedan shopkeeper, trying to guage the situation before he wades right in.]
Some people might consider it threatening.
no subject
The same could be said for your height or your menacing brow. That frown, tsk tsk, so threatening. You are picking on a little girl, didn't you know?
[This time it's the merchant who gets a glance.]
Come now, we have both agreement and deadline.
no subject
Since when did deadlines warrant a visit from Mr. Bat?
no subject
All deadlines warrant a visit from Mr Bat. So does lunch, breakfast and long walks on the beach. I read a book, Mr Bat is there too. The bat goes where I go. That is all.
[And she turns her back on him, turning to face the merchant again and tap again on the counter.]
Hurry it up.
[The merchant gives a nod and resumes fumbling about behind the counter.]
no subject
no subject
[She doesn't even look back at him with that. The words come as a glorious monotone.
Just in time, the merchant drops a small bag of coins in front of her. Avell gives a nod, scoops up the bag and tucks it away.]
Bye now.
[And she's got every intention of leaving, and will do so, unless he stops her.]
it's like raaain~ on your wedding day~
Aly's not a huge fan - mostly because when she's Otherside, she's usually almost always with ten people or less. And this is why she hates them; too loud, too noisy, some asshole always trying to push through them while crackling--
--wait a minute. She draws alongside the staticky lady.]
You're gonna make everyone's hair stand on end like that, [she says casually.]
no subject
More than that, if these fucking idiots do not get out of my way.
[The frustration is clear in her voice. Avell doesn't like the situation she's in.]
Rain
[As she tries to push through the crowd Vic tries to cut her a path through him his own way. He swings his wooden bat wildly in front of them, trying to scare people out of the way. If someone ends up getting smashed with it then that's their fault. They told these people to move after all.
Looking at her behind him Vic swears under his breath. He sees the static crackling across her body and knows it's not a good sign.]
If you don't want to end up looking like fucking hamburger then move!
[Vic doesn't care about causing a panic at this point. He just wants to get Avell to safety. The man isn't about to leave her though. If she gets friend then he gets fried. That's all there is to it.]
no subject
Her hood is pulled up and Avell reaches for the back of his shirt, giving it a light tug.]
We need to move, or you need to get away.
[She's worried man. He might be okay with frying but she doesn't want to hurt him. Not now, not ever. Even now the people that bump into her as they work through the crowd hiss and yelp at the contact. She's already jolting a little more than she'd like.]
no subject
Ain't going to happen Tempete and you know it.
[He's with her to the very end. Except he's not about to let that end come just yet. Time to break a few eggs to make an omelet.
Vic searches the crowd until he finds what he's after. Some passerby with an umbrella tries to steer clear of the duo, but Vic suddenly dashes towards them striking them hard in the jaw with his fist. The kedan crumples and Vic snatches the umbrella out of the air. Before he leaves, he reaches into his pocket and tosses a handful of juulan onto their body.]
Buy yourself a new one.
[Then he's back at Avell's side, holding the umbrella over her.]
This might buy us a little more time.
no subject
[Have to. Only she clearly doesn't have to, as some stranger just got laid out on the street instead. Vic punching someone isn't a surprise, nor is him taking something he wants or needs. The payment though, that's something she'll smile about when they get out of this mess.]
Good plan.
[From beneath her hood, she meets his gaze and gives a small smile. Thank you, it says. Then her eyes are back on the street, the woman nudging people with her bat in a bid to prod them out of the way.]
The first shelter we find, we go for.
no subject
Then he's at her side, standing in the rain but making sure none of it spills onto her.]
My thoughts exactly.
[While she pushes people out of the way Vic looks for something, anything, that can shelter her from the storm. Eventually his eyes land on a warehouse at the end of the street.]
How about that?
no subject
[The rain is getting heavier by the second and Avell's worry is only escalating.]
Vic we need to hurry.
[The umbrella is helping, but she's still crackling more than she'd like. And hurry she does. With a goal in sight, Avell focuses on getting to it, nudging people out of the way and barking at them to shove over.]
no subject
[It might hurt but he doesn't give a shit about that in the slightest. As long as she keeps from going nuclear he's more than alright with some static shock.
Vic does his best to help her through the crowd while he makes sure to keep the umbrella over her, going so far as to knock a couple people over to get them out of the way.
Hopefully they don't have to worry about anyone inside already. Otherwise whoever is in there is about to get evicted.]
Almost there, just keep it together a little longer.
no subject
It's a relief when the crowd catches on and starts to clear a little, though that is in part because they're nearing both the edge of the busy street and their destination.
She doesn't wait to see if anyone is already in there. The moment she's in range, Avell darts under cover and peels the wet hoodie from herself.]
That was too fucking close.
[There's a few others in there, all seeking to shelter from the rain.]
All of you, keep your distance.
[She's dangerous to be near at the moment.]
no subject
You heard her! Stay the fuck back!
[Vic never even looks at them as he tries his best to dry her off. Occasionally a spark jumps from her to him like a super charged shock of static. He winces but never makes a noise.]
This is the best I can do for now.
no subject
On the third zap she puts a hand on his and shoots him a reassuring look.]
I can take it from here, I think.
[His shirt is nearly wet through from drying her off, but she's a lot better off than she was. Even if she's still damn, it's not fully wet like she was only moments ago.]
Thank you.
[Those last two words are mouthed to Vic, for him and him alone.]
no subject
Instead of saying anything back to her, Vic mouths a few words that look suspiciously like 'elephant shoe' before he turns towards the on lookers.]
The fuck are all of you looking at? Never seen a guy shirtless before?
[And just like that the tenderness shown only to her vanishes and the asshole returns.]
no subject
Do yourselves a favour and do not look. He is perhaps more dangerous than me.
[If only because right here and now he's the aggressive one of the two.]
When you can, leave. For your own good.
no subject
[He whirls his bat once, twice.]
Get gone if you know what's good for you.
[For all he knows his Avell might still be in danger. He wants to check on her, to dote until he knows that she'll be fine. Times like this are the only times he truly worries about her.
Without thinking he puts himself between her and the rest of the crowd.]
no subject
A few of the people leave, trusting the weather over the strange man with the bat and the electric woman. Others seem to linger, genuinely worried and curious for what's going on. Eventually, they too depart.]
I'm okay, Vic.
[Still not safe to touch, but she'll be alright.]
