Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace! Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
Dramatic Chase Sequence! You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
Where There's A Will, There's A...? The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE! The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.
WILDCARD! Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options can also be what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting, and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!
It's much too late to prevent a torrent of questions, it just means what the questions are are going to be on a different path. It's not enough to stop Stephanie from asking, after all. Especially with a question like that
"Then what do we get to blame?" The fact that he's looking her over doesn't escape her either, not when he's asking a strange question like that. "And what do you mean, it depends? Why are you asking what the last thing I remember is? Does it matter?"
Skulduggery laughs. There's a certain amount of relief in the laugh, relief an older Valkyrie would have picked up on immediately. Skulduggery isn't sure if this version of her will, but either way, he heads off another question by answering one first.
"I'm offended," he says, "that the very fact I asked the question isn't enough to tell you it matters. I ask nothing but the most relevant questions, Valkyrie."
Well, barring some minor episodic insanity which prompted him to ask her what she'd had for breakfast that morning. Fortunately, this Valkyrie wouldn't remember that.
She can tell; but she isn't sure why he is relieved at all.
"You also like to feed your ego," she reminds him. "So I'm sure you think they're always relevant." It still gives her time to go over what he said, with keeping in mind the fact he's insisting it is a relevant question to ask. Instead the reason occurs to her.
"You think I came from a different time than you!" As much sense as that doesn't make, it still does at the same time, a bit at least, if only because his comment about Ghastly and the amount of time he won't be missing is fresh on her mind. "Why is that?"
Well, she isn't wrong. She's missing a small part of that sentence, though - Skulduggery's questions are always relevant. He's never wrong unless being wrong suits him. Valkyrie can be forgiven for that overlook, since at her point in time she hasn't known him for very long.
Still sharp as ever, though.
"If you'd answered my question," he says, "instead of making things more difficult than they needed to be, you would know why. I'm from 2014. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say you're from... the neighbourhood of 2007. Am I right?"
Her response comes nearly automatically. "I'm not making it more difficult than it had to, you're just-" And then the year gives settles in properly. 2014. A whole seven years, with room to spare on one side or another.
"From 2014?" She's not going to ask if he's serious, since it explains some of the strangeness. "You're right."
2007. She didn't flinch at the name 'Valkyrie', so she was far enough along in their relationship to have grown accustomed to it. She's probably just started school, or at the very least seen Serpine turn to dust. Skulduggery allows himself a moment of pride at how unflappable his young partner was even back then; but once the moment ends, it's back to business.
"You're in a city called Keeliai," he explains. "On the back of a continent-turtle, swimming through a world which is just outside the regular flow of time. Another dimension, to be precise. Have I explained dimensions to you yet?"
