Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace! Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
Dramatic Chase Sequence! You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
Where There's A Will, There's A...? The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE! The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.
WILDCARD! Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options can also be what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting, and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!
[One minute, Rhys is flying out the back of a caravan as it pelts over the desert away from a bandit racetrack. The next, he's slamming into the side of what he later decides isn't actually a bull, but which very much feels like a bull while he's slamming into it. And he's no longer in the desert; he's in some kind of city. And the roar of the caravan's engine has been replaced by the chatter of a market crowd.
To say he's confused is kind of an understatement.
The not-really-a-bull swings around, snorting angrily at Rhys. Rhys has seen too many movies not to know exactly how this is going to end. Slowly - very, very slowly - he gets to his feet, the bare striped sock on his right foot squelching into what he really hopes is just a puddle.]
[ Even in human guise, Baymax is an imposing figure -- well over six feet tall, and a frame designed to look like solid muscle. He's a frightening figure, right down to the scowl on his face, and it's a good deterrent for crooks and muggers who might be otherwise stupid enough to try and harass him.
It's also bad news for any low-lifes who happen to catch his attention. True, this wasn't Japan, but Baymax took a certain level of pride in his status as a superhero these days -- and with that status came a certain responsibility. Home turf or not, protecting people was his duty.
Which was why when he heard a commotion from a nearby alleyway, he took it upon himself to check it out personally. Two muggers were chasing someone into a dead end alley, laughing and taunting as they raised their small weapons with intent to hurt. Baymax approached from behind them, quiet and unassuming, and at first glance anyone might assume that this monster of a man was part of the gang.
However, when he reached up and yanked them both back by their shirt collars, it became clear that he was most certainly not on their side. ]
That's enough, I think.
[ Effortlessly holding the two thugs well off the ground, he looks up at their intended victim at the back of the alley. ]
There's quite a commotion going down in the marketplace, an uproar having emerged in a section of the open-air shops. Indeed, there's something of a small-scale panic happening, with several of Keeliai's inhabitants having been hurried away to be treated for some rather painful punctures on arms or legs. The cause of said injuries can be found in the middle of a few now-deserted textile stalls, the owners having decided rather wisely to give the incredibly stressed Velociraptor antirrhopus as much space as she demands.
Blue is scared. She doesn't know why she is here, how she got here, where here is. It's wrong, it's all wrong, there are too many smells, too many sounds, too many sights, all of them unfamiliar and strange. What's worse, though, is what's missing. The scent of the Alpha, familiar even in how he smells of prey yet isn't, the tang of blood from the battle against the White One, the smells of her sisters - they are not there, but they were, a moment ago. Everything changed suddenly, swiftly, and upsettingly.
She caws for her packmates, stopping to hiss a warning at any who dare approach her - she's bitten several braver souls already, and feinted at even more. At least one stall has been wrecked entirely in her frenzy, finely colored cloths strewn all over and shredded on sickle-like claws, and Blue has knocked several other goods to the ground. Every now and then her calls take a pause when she tries to bite off the strange band around her forepaw, the one of metal and set with a single stone. It's loose enough that it offers no constriction to her wrist, but not enough so that it can slip off.
It's just another frustration, another stressor, and after the umpteenth attempt to remove the offending object (numbers are meaningless to her), Blue lets the bangle drop from her teeth and finally screeches her fear-anger at it.
Her guard is lowered for the moment, and anyone brave (or stupid) enough to approach her won't be rushed.
[So, this is new. When the Star Shard sent Ven away, he really wasn't sure where he'd end up, so imagine his surprise when he wound up in a big, bustling city with lots of strange people and lots of strange creatures and excitement unfolding all around him.
It's a bit confusing, actually, but that might be because the only crowds he's used to are those of the more monstrous variety, but he's darting about with wide, starry eyes, with a clunky armored pauldron, waist guard, metal boots, crisscrossing straps with a heart-shaped pendant, and a jacket that looks like it was made from two totally different tops.
But as exciting as this all is, experience has taught him that there's probably some kinda trouble lurking in the shadows. Before he gets too caught up in his exploration, he decides to take a slightly more cautious route.
So don't be surprised if this blond-haired intercepts you while you're milling about.]
Hey, wait up!
[Mostly, he just wants to make sure the Unversed aren't causing trouble. The where he is/what he's doing part's not quite as important as that, and he's just happy to have a chance to make some new friends.]
[ it isn't the biggest issue at hand, exactly. yes, the gloves will be extremely useful for both the cold and protecting her knuckles if she so happens to find herself in more forceful trouble, but in the grander scheme of things it shouldn't be important.
and yet, here lies korra, playing tug of war with some stranger and (very visibly) becoming more and more frustrated as each minute goes by. finally she lets out a loud huff, releases her grip on the gloves and instead balls her hands into fists. ]
Don't you get it, I need this- [ she bursts out - and okay maybe she's overcompensating for the whole "i arrived on the back of a giant turtle and maybe i'm not taking it so well" but the psychology of the matter isn't stopping korra from ticking closer to the danger zone. ] -and, I was here first!
[ she half shouts the last word, and as she does a small flame bursts into appearance in her right hand. someone should...probably intervene before she accidentally burns something down. ]
What do you mean, the last time I was here? I've never seen you before in my life! I only just got here today!
[ Normally Hiro wouldn't be so rude to a stranger -- especially someone he's trying to haggle with. But he's spent this entire conversation talking in circles with this shopkeeper and he's swiftly losing his patience. ]
Look, I'm telling you, this is all that I have, and it's a reasonable price. I just want to buy this toolkit! Why are you making this so difficult?
2. chase
[ Hiro's not sure what he did to make those guys so angry -- he couldn't have done anything! He's never met the before! Regardless, they seemed ready to take some kind of grudge out on him and Hiro really wasn't too keen on sticking around to find out why.
He darts down the street, lithe frame and years of experience making it easy to dart through the crowd with ease. Still, he stumbles once, crashing face-first into someone and sending them both tumbling to the ground. Hiro scrambles to his feet, bowing quickly at the stranger in a frantic apology. ]
Sorry -- sorry! I didn't mean to, I just -- uh --
[ His eyes darted to the crowd. Were they still after him? ]
5. wildcard
[ Hiro's managed to scrounge up a book of blank pages for himself. He sits hunched over at an outdoor table at a cafe somewhere, furiously writing as he chows down on a pork bun with his free hand. It's a train of thought mess as he tries to work out his frustrations in the slowest way possible but it'll do for now. It's somewhere between a journal entry and a log of the mishmash of technology he's spotted here so far, along with half-finished ideas in the margins of what he could possibly do with it all.
His glasses fog and Hiro lifts his head, setting down his pen and letting the bun hang from his mouth as takes them off to wipe the lenses on his shirt, his face plainly visible to any passers-by. ]
Even though it was a new place with unfamiliar things, Roll wasn't one to panic. Keeping a leel head was important in situations like this! She'd have to gather information and figure out where she was, where everyone else was, and what had happened in her absence back home.
It was a big task, for sure.
The little blonde bot wandered the streets with a trusty broom in her fists as she gave sweeping looks to the area around her. Once she came across someone new, she'd tap them on the shoulder with a polite "Excuse me!"
