Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles. → Tag around with everyone! → Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle! → Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace! Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!
Dramatic Chase Sequence! You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?
Where There's A Will, There's A...? The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disappears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...
SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE! The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.
WILDCARD! Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options can also be what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting, and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!
The drinks are flowing, the company is decent, the game is entertaining and Asher has a heavy pocket of coins that he didn't have when he walked in here. The day is a good one, and strange as this place is, Asher is content.
Or at least he was content. Shay hasn't gone unnoticed, no matter how relaxed Asher still seems to be. A combination of a youth filled with battles and brawls combined with a good five years in Yunkai have trained Asher to never let his guard down.
Of course, it's possible the stranger is just curious about the game, and with Asher at it's helm, there's no reason for the attention not to be on him. If that's the case, then all the more reason for Asher to catch Shay's gaze and give the man a nod. It's an invitation to join him if he wants it to be, a simple 'hello, yes, I see you,' otherwise.
When the man catches Shay's gaze, there's a slight hint of a smile. The man is attentive, at least, that much is obvious.
Drink in hand, the Irishman rises, ambling casually over to the table. He's well armed; a sword and dagger belted to his waist, as well as numerous hidden weapons... not that he plans on using any of them, after all.
"Well now," He announces, once at the table. "I've sailed into many a-port, and never come across a game like this."
That Shay is armed doesn't go unnoticed, nor does the fact that other man is dressed far... fancier than he's used to. It's nice gear, he'll admit; better than the dusty leathers Asher wears.
Beyond a glance and a smile though, Asher doesn't acknowledge it further. At his hip is a sword of his own, and a hatchet on the other. "Never? Well, we can't have that can we. Take a seat and I'll show you the ropes."
A beat. Asher smirks. "Assuming of course you've the coin to play when things get serious?"
"I have coin." Shay confirms, a quick glance over the other man's equipment as he lowers himself into a spare seat. "I've been watching. The rules seem simple enough. Guess how many of each die there are on the table, aye?"
He slumps back, causally, in his chair, glancing around the others. It seems like just a cursory glance, but Master Cormac is very cautious about the company he keeps when he doesn't know them.
It's not a hard game to learn, and the more people get used to the play, the more you can do with it. Asher picked the game up in a tavern some time ago and never quite forgot it. It's casual fun, and something to pass the time between jobs.
"Each round, those that lose remove a dice from their cup. And, to raise the guess, you must either state a higher number, or more of whatever number was said the turn before yours. So if I say there are three fours, you could jump to say, two fives. Else, you could say four fours."
He motions to the small pile of juulan in the middle of the table. "If you lose all your dice, you're out. We bet each round. Two coins at a time. You win the round, you take half of what was bet. The rest goes to the kitty. Last man standing takes the pile."
"Sounds simple enough." Shay remarks, shrugging. "Alright. Count me in." He reaches down to his coin purse, bringing out two coins, placing them onto the table.
Asher laughs lightly and reaches for a spare cup and dice. His actions aren't so much exaggerated as made clear; he wants the table and all witnessing to know that there's no cheating happening and the dice are what they're meant to be.
"That's what I like to hear. For you, and..." He sets his own two coins on the table. "For the winner."
Given that Shay's eyes are watching Asher's movement, sharp despite the lax attitude of their owner, it may be for the best. The smile on the Irishman's face should be disarming enough, however.
Besides, if Shay suspects any foul play, he has methods of deducing it.
Shay is more than he seems, that just what he is exactly, Asher can't quite pick. He figures for the moment it doesn't matter; right now the game is priority and with it a good time. A little banter here and there, the loss and gain of coin. Asher likes this, win or lose.
"Yes, let's," he says with a grin, picking up his own cup and dice and giving it a quick shake to move the dice about. "After you."
